Very interesting hotel, recently refurbished very well in contemporary chic style. Bedroom huge; food good; and very helpful staff.

Absolutely stunning Place
Have Wild Deer, Pheasants, Hare, A Duck pond
Beautiful rooms (didn't opt to have the breakfast because we was out too early)
They have a Bar And Restaurant
Would recommend staying at this place but do not recommend using the top two floors in summer (possibly not spring or autumn either) as there is no air conditioning (despite what Google says (though the hotel are going to try to correct that) and it was possibly 5-7 degrees hotter inside then it was outside (that's without the heating on). It was just crazy hot (so much so we had a fan on (which is provided in the room) with Buckets of Ice in front of it to help cool the room down we went through many Buckets of Ice (the hotel actually said we couldn't have any more Ice because they were running out) so we really struggled the last night we was there
We also found a bit of a problem with the 24/7 Room Service (it's kind of not 24/7) I was ringing the room service from my room for over 15mins and didn't get an answer so I had to walk down all the stairs (and I'm disabled) to get some assistance
Otherwise an amazing hotel and would definitely recommend
Staff are friendly and accommodating, lovely setting for any celebration (we had our wedding reception here a few years ago)
It's a really nice hotel and the rooms are good. The staff are very friendly and helpful and they are really child friendly. The food is also really good here
Wonderful accommodation. Absolute well-being. Attention and friendliness of the staff is outstanding. The food was delicious and varied. The environment rural and very charming.
Nice room. Average food. Beautiful location. Very friendly staff.
The staff were great food was hot and a great place to relax
We had a stunning wedding lunch meal served by amazing staff in the Vipod on Saturday 11 July. The food was excellent and the service catered to our every need with politeness and a cheerful manor well done to all of you. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment with memories to treasure, we will see you again. Good luck on your reopening we wish you every success from Mark and Jayne
Pleasant hotel with nice grounds and convenient to Gloucester. We used the local bus service to get in and out of town.
Service was friendly and professional. Room was a good size, bathroom glfine - nice shower. Would not recommend the restaurant - poor food, albeit courteous service. Nice location and view. The building has a interesting history. Good spot to explore Cotswolds and Bath.
Very quiet, scenic location with good food and ale. A real gem.
Very nice grounds and stunning old building but needs rooms and bathrooms refurbishing. Breakfast was okay. This place could be amazing with a little attention to detail.
Room has a warm & welcoming touch, the bed is large & cosy. Staff have been very polite. Flushing the toilet is a pain & I would ve preferred a walk in shower rather than a bath tub. Overall the stay has been good :)
Had to go as it's the nearest place that accepts virgin day out voucher. Still under renovation. A bit too posh for my liking - tea and cakes served on 3 tier cake holder.
Went to a wedding here, all went very well, discreet staff and venue was well kept.
Food was ok, and the service was great. Amazing icecream for dessert!
Due to my husbands adverse reaction to this dose of Chemo, we asked the Hotel to move our non-changable booking. Everyone was so helpful and the General Manger agreed to move our stay until next year, when hopefully things will be on the up. Thank you for all being so consederate at such a stressful time.
Nice area good for walking nice local villages to stop off at to visit the local pubs,. This hotel has a friendly relaxed atmosphere, attentive staff
Beautiful hotel and great breakfast. We had a premium room and it was fantastic. Our friends stayed in the standard room which was also great
Beautiful place, very helpful, efficient and professional staff. We had afternoon tea - which was wonderful - only negative comment would be that there wasn't as much food as we've had at other places that we've had afternoon tea. That said, the food was gorgeous and the tea was topped up as many times as our hearts desired.
Wonderful hotel and staff, location is beautiful and this is our second stay here. Would recommend highly. Lovely food as well.
The hotel is a lovely setting within its own grounds. Plenty of public seating in the lounge and dining areas the bar has a reasonable selection of drinks. Staff are extremely helpful and understanding customers needs. The rooms appear to have recently been decorated, only downside is some furniture in the room is in need of replacing. Otherwise a lovely stay and felt safe with the additional measures being taken during this period of Covid-19.
Deeply unhappy. Paid to hire a function room and did not receive value for money at all. Avoid
Great location & helpful polite staff. Breakfast good but little cereal choice.Too many stairs- ask for ground floor. External woodwork needs paint
good service so far, booked a future event so will await the outcome
The breakfast is take it or leave it, fried eggs or fried eggs etc. The grounds and rooms are nice but no water in the rooms
Very complicated at which way to walk around. Evening value for money very poor. But hotel and staff very friendly.
First visit in very sad circumstances. Faultless spread and staff very attentive.
Lovely old building with excellent breakfast. Helpful and pleasant staff. Good bus service into Gloucester so worth staying outside with the quiet and get a better nights sleep.
Spent 3 days catching up with old friends. Nice hotel with lovely staff working hard to keep all areas safe from covid19. Felt safe most of the time but a shame that a celebration party of about twenty people decided it was ok to stand around in the bar and when moved then sat together in the lounge with no social distancing until the staff intervened.
No wonder the disease is spreading.
We stayed here for a full weekend and a private event. Hotel handled the event really well. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Beautiful setting too.
Would not class this hotel as five star rooms not cleaned very well also had windows that would not close and noise coming from house cleaning and kitchens not good at 6am
Loved it here. Very nice getaway . We got to see horses, sheep s, goats and other animals just being about . Locals very nice as well
The hotel was excellent in a beautiful peaceful setting, with easy access to places to visit. The room was very comfortable and the whole place was beautifully decorated. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. The vegetarian options are superb.
The only slight improvement might be a file in the room with hotel information, but there were leaflets downstairs with places to visit.
All in all, a wonderful visit. Highly recommended.
Hotel part of it is good and rooms are good size with air con and good heating. The food was not as good, I would give the food 3 out of 5.
Set in lush grounds, nice rooms, air con... Fab breakfast Nd above average customer service.. hotel being updated.
Beautiful location. Friendly and helpful staff. Highly recommend
Great place with very service from the staff, especially the one receptionist and one in the restaurant. The food was ok. Lack of elevator. Would have liked to have a fitness room and pool here, but otherwise it was very good.
I must say nice and clean plenty of room nice food and entertainment well done mr mrs baker wotton under edge glos
Beautiful hotel with amazing staff. I would definitely come back. The grounds are beautiful.
Really nice hotel, great room with plenty of space. The staff were very helpful. Really lovely bar, dining room & lounge although a little expensive. Overall excellent place.
We had a virgin experience voucher for a night away with breakfast so chose to stay at this hotel and so glad we did!
Set in a beautiful location, lovely grounds and such an old but we'll maintained building.. it was a great experience.
We ended up in the "Superior Suite" on floor 4 and it was something else.. coffee machine.. enough room for a huge party.. shame we only stayed one night..
We had breakfast which was a choice of cereals, pastries or full English which was all cooked well.
We have no complaints and wouldn't hesitate to go back!
5* from us.
Lovely Hotel & beautiful setting, our room was fabulous, clean & spacious, staff all really friendly & helpful, breakfast was great too, one way system through the hotel. I would recommend a visit.
I would normally give 5 stars i love Bowden but since changing from al a carte food to pub food its not worth the prices and its no longer special.
Beautiful place for any celebration. Staff are really attentive.
Stayed for one night and that was one night to many, this was brought as a anniversary treat but the room was falling apart, we had two beds pushed together, the heating woke us up at silly o clock with the loudest sound of running water and when we told management they didn t seem bothered, honestly a one star travel lodge would have been more comfortable I was extremely disappointed
Refreshing bubbly receptionist and thorough event management with Rachel. I'm looking forward to holding the SMBN awards ceremony at this hotel.
Gorgeous Hotel. Will definitely visit again. The bedrooms were easy to work with, lots of space to get ready. The bath filled up mega fast which was perfect and the bed was amazing. Loved the bar and bar staff were lovely and so friendly
Went there for a birthday celebration afternoon tea party. Very nice fresh tasty sandwiches and cakes. Endless hot tea and coffee.
A lovely afternoon.
Lovely location, clean rooms and very helpful staff.
Beautiful hotel and beautiful grounds. The views are relaxing and peaceful, this is the ideal place to come and relax. The only thing to be careful of is there is no lift, so arrive early and request a low floor. We requested a low floor but arrived around 4 pm and were told there were none left. Room in the roof was beautiful but tiring to reach. However I felt much fitter by the time I left.
The staff are great, the food is great, the accommodation is good and the prices are fair
Very friendly and helpful staff. Well set out for Covid safety with one way system and sanitizing stations. Comfortable beds. Great place to relax
Refused to give us more bread. However plenty of water.
We recently stayed at the bowden having booked the dbb deal for two nights everything was absolutely fine until we went to hand our keys in on departure the receptionist said there was a problem we needed to pay in a very aggressive and loud manner we had already settled our bill when we had arrived.she kept repeating her self "there is a problem " there was two other people around and so was very embarrassing for us.the receptionist asked us to go into the lounge while the manager was called down people we're stirring at us as there were more people in there too and could hear everything.we was made to feel we wasn't allowed to leave so so embarrassing after the manager had checked and we had to show proof of payment we left.the receptionist dosent need to be on the front deck she needed loads more training and people skill as she's got none!!!!! She was very argumentative and aggressive her name was solvevqa would be better off in the kitchen we won't be returning
Amazing hotel, brilliant staff. Highly recommended!!
Loved it. Lovely walks for Reggie dog and easy access to motorway. Room 136 did get a little stuffy as it was a very warm day and night - the only window opened a small slit, so not much effect.
Got no sleep here very noisy plumbing and can hear all the other guests..
Very helpful staff did not stay was there for function room. Work related training well kept grounds very peaceful
I love this place. It has a special intimate, aristocratic character and cozy atmosphere.
Lovely hotel ,good food ,friendly staff .Room could have done with a lamp to help with putting on make-up but was still pleasant ,.Bed was comfortable .Overall a pleasing experience .The main downside was no lift . So no good if you have difficulty with stairs.
Enjoyed my stay. Great staff and food. Lovely grounds. Good for business. Recommended.
Very nice place for weddings etc. Nice grounds, and rooms.
Very beautiful hotel It is difficult to make reservations in summer ... but it is difficult because there is no elevator
Lovely hotel. Good sized rooms. Shame there is no lift to first floor when you have cases. Food is of a good quality.
Nice rooms. No lift but there is a wheelchair lift to the first floor. Breakfast is average but dinner is very good. Beautiful grounds and perfectly situated for Gloucester and Cheltenham. Only 45 mins from the Forest of Dean.
All good apart from the lady birds :-) but nice hotel and staff
Just had the most AMAZING stay at this hotel. Reception check in was friendly and quick. Beautifully decorated hotel, my room was spacious and had everything I needed. It was spotless and I had a wonderful nights sleep. Breakfast was lovely with spectacular view of the grounds. The grounds are beautiful. Gavin the manager couldn't do enough for you, he carried my bags to the room and I had forgotten my iPhone charger, he soon rushed to his office to get me one to borrow.
I had drinks in the bar that evening with friends all the staff were friendly and polite. Cocktails were fantastic.
I didn't want to leave. What a gem of a hotel I have found x
Nice building in quiet grounds. The rooms are nice and clean, but the hotel can be much better. Check in was a bit hap-hazard.. No clear indication that the reception area is just that, and walked past it as no one was there on arrival. Once checked in informed we were on the top floor.. only four flights of stairs then, as NO LIFT.!! No offers of help with luggage. No info regarding breakfast by staff or in the room, and had to find out myself. Coffee pod machine in the room but no instructions on how to use it, or what the different coloured pods actually were.. Bar staff and restaurant staff were excellent and knowledgeable.. Food was ok for a 4* hotel, but again, could be better.. Checkout quick and easy. Overall, ok, but won't be staying there again..
Out in 'The Sticks' but nice place for a weekend away Can be a long walk to your room and there's no lift.
Lovely venue and grounds, but the quality of the food didn't live up to the silver service
Menu quite restricted and could be improved with greater selection.
Staff friendly but wouldn't normally expect waiting staff to wear denim jeans at this type of establishment.
Lovely welcome so great to be back in the Accor grove. Very comfortable and lovely food. I can recommend it.
