A lovely hotel, food great our room was excellent, beautiful outside area. A big thank you to Gavin for helping with our stay here, you have restored our faith in Mercure hotel after a bad experience at the Mercure Grange hotel in Bristol, a wonderful experience this time , cannot wait to stay at Bowden Hall again

What a lovely hotel. The setting is very peaceful . The rooms are spacious, light and airy, and the food is tasty. Best of all the staff are friendly and can't do enough to make sure you are happy.

Lovely setting, really helpful and friendly staff and very good value for money. We had a 2 night break package. Visited here a few years ago and since then the hotel has had a facelift and is now very modern yet comfy.

Excellent hotel, located outside of town. Very good restaurant, improvable wine selection but the attention of excellent staff, all attentive and friendly. Only disadvantage that there is no elevator but otherwise excellent!

Midwinter break, genuinely warm atmosphere and staff. Limited menu very well presented. No lift and did not receive warning before arrival. Light not working in bathroom, toilet poor flush. No literature in the room describing the hotel facilities or even meal times. No further information on the hotel website

Really Disappointing.

Really Disappointing.
The only reason they get 2 stars is the pleasant welcome, beautiful building and good shower.
The bad bits are, no lifts, terrible outlook from the room, TV not working, beds only a Trappist monk would find comfortable, seriously the floor would have been more comfortable, and to add the icing to the cake, at about 6am a low level hum started reverberating in the room not loud, but really really annoying, could not get back to sleep, really did not expect this from a hotel of this quality.

I'm writing this review from the perspective of having attended a work event at the hotel. The hotel itself, and the facilities we were in, are very well appointed - the standard that you'd expect from a hotel of this stature. The conference space however did not lend itself well to the screen based presentations around which the event was based. When you can't see half of the presentation because there's a speaker's podium in front of the screen there's a big problem. There's no scope to lift the screen because the ceiling is too low. How much of this is down to the hotel and how much to my organisation understanding the limitations and just going with it anyway I'm not sure. Finally, the catering, and I was disappointed here. It was difficult to find the description of the food on the labels amongst the reasons why I shouldn't eat it (allergy information) and in my opinion it had been cooked for too long. Can't complain about the sweets though - they were really good. In summary, a lovely place and no doubt perfect for the right sort of event, but it would be worth taking a look first to make sure it's right for what you're planning.

Really enjoyed our stay in this hotel with evening meal, bed and breakfast. The hotel itself looks spectacular and the lobby, restaurant and lounge bar has clearly had attention lavished upon it. The room we stayed in was a little more dated but still entirely reasonable. The restaurant food was very tasty - more gastro pub that haute cuisine, which is either to your tastes (as it was ours) or not. Very friendly welcome from all staff. I would certainly stay again

I had an excellent stay. The room was great and the staff were excellent. Every member of staff I spoke to was polite and professional. They really made the stay enjoyable. The breakfast was also great. Very highly recommended.

A relaxing hotel, well located to explore the Cotswolds from. The hotel room was excellent, however the hotel bar had not yet adjusted to the sugar taxes, and as such, all soft drinks on sale were of the sugar free variety. The staff were most warm and excellent.

We stayed for only one night but would have loved to stay longer. The room was clean and spacious and a lovely view of the grounds. The food and service was excellent and the hotel staff friendly. We both felt safe with the precautions the hotel had in place regarding current restrictions. We would recommend this hotel although it is a little bit off the beat and track if you want to spend an evening away from the hotel should your stay be longer than a couple of nights.

Rooms are old but will be getting a facelift in the summer apparantely. The food was ok and breakfast was adequate. The building itself is very nice, if a little old and creaky. There is no lift so be prepared for some stairs.

Went for lunch with my wife. We were met in the hall, taken to our table, served cocktails while we chose from the menu. Excellent house wine, food delicious and service very good. We will definitely return.

Booked the drawing room for my mum's surprise birthday afternoon tea and was really pleased. Stunning location and beautifully decorated, relaxed and comfortable venue. Would definitely recommend.

The location of the hotel is lovely with some nice walks around the hotel itself. Dinner was really very nice. Breakfast however was a let down with only 4 choices and the continental breakfast consisting of a bowel of cornflakes a bowel of watermelon and some stale pastries. Overall the staff were nice however one of the barmen was very rude to us and slightly intimidating. We stayed in a double room - very nice room very nice bed (huge), but our flush didn't really work for our toilet and the room stank of an egg like smell when we arrived - possibly blocked pipes or something. Overall good but definitely bring your own snacks and atmosphere.

Excellent WI ladies luncheon. Nothing was too much trouble. Staff perfect. Helpful and pleasant. Most impressive. Second time we have been there and perfection each time. I took my husband there for his birthday in the evening. Scrumptious. Archie Fox is so helpful and his staff are simply great.

Nice hotel - there's a lot of noise here through the walls as its an old place tottally refurbished - has a lot of character - some of the staff can be rude we found. This was not a good experience for us unfortunately

Lovely hotel blond lady at check in was very helpful and very pleasant a credit to hotel the only issue was my room I swear you could grow grapes in it as it must have been 100 degree same as last time so very little sleep not good as you obviously don't listen to your guests and it would save you money if you turned it off.

The hotel is nice enough in the normal end where stayed, however, the food and restaurant was fantastic with Mariusz the front of house/manager??? Making us feel very welcome and even had time to speak to us on a personal level. Have we stayed in posher? Yes, have we stayed where the food was nicer? Yes, have we stayed where everything just seem to come together better? No!

An impressive 18th century Hall, which is now a Mercure hotel. It is a beautifully-preserved building and has an excellent Brasserie for eating in, based on personal experience! The building overlooks extensive grounds, with a lake , and plenty of trees and shrubs. Situated in a small village on the outskirts of Gloucester, it is suitable for a restful break, but with plenty of things to do and see within a modest radius.

Fantastic service, friendly staff and wonderful wedding!!
With 29 days notice Alice and the team pulled out all the stops to make an intiment wedding for a group of 7 absolutley perfect!
The food in the restaurant was above expectatations the evening before.
The rooms were clean and spacious and the staff were all friendly and welcoming.
The wedding took place in the senate room was beautiful and the wedding breakfast that followed the ceremony was delicious.
We can not thank Alice, Jackie and all the staff for a lovely, relaxing 2 day stay.
Highly recommended

Lovely hotel in beautiful location, but hotel desk staff could be a little more welcoming (and seem happy to be working there). Door room cards annoyingly seem to stop working everyday and need rescanning at front desk, previous guests clothes left in room and not moved by cleaner, plus the complementary water bottles opened and half empty when we arrived (still not replaced). All minor things but nonetheless the small details that make you want to go back to a hotel.

Fantastic property in this amazing place and carries a lot of history as well.. it was just so amazing to see how this fantastic property was maintained and preserved while being used commercially. I love the ambience, the rooms and the little coffee shop overlooking some breathtaking scenic view while it drizzled. Overall great experience.

Beautiful hotel, nice grounds, lovely lounge downstairs and a great room. The only complaint I have is there was a loud vibrating noise in our room, only intermittently in the morning, I assume it was something to do with a boiler. Otherwise a great stay
