Terrible terrible service. They made an appointment for induction for my child and when we show up at 6am they tell us they are short staffed and we have to wait for 2 c-sections to be done before we can even be put into the computer system. Staff also likes to chit chat more than work.
*update
They then send us home for the day and tell us we have to come back another day because they don't have enough staff for us. If you can go to any hospital besides St Mary's, it is highly recommended.

My mom has PTSD from her car accident and can't wear a mask, even tho were in a pandemic. It causes a panic attack and she breaks down in tears. My dad has gone in for surgery on his back and my mom wanted to be with him until he went under for his surgery. The hospital staff were rude about her not wearing her mask and wouldn't let her wait with her husband. This is first off against ADA laws and secondly makes it difficult for a woman in a wheelchair to be supportive and help her husband through surgery. Luckily she has me to go in after surgery and help my dad, but if she didn't have kids who would she have help him? No one else in our family can, and we can't have someone outside of the household help because he's fresh outta surgery and has a weak immune system.

Doctors quit working here when one of the hospital...

Doctors quit working here when one of the hospitals closed down. The remaining hospital has always had questionable service is now the only game in town. They make appointments then screw up your time. When you arrive 10 minutes late for their new unprovided time nut 10 minutes early for your appointment they refuse to serve you. The Dr or Nurse Practioner Mary in this case, has a choice apparently but these doctors have never cared to provide service as evident by the trouble we had upon arival in this area a year ago and now again.

I would not recommend this place as a place to retire or even live if you have any health issues. And if you do try to find anyplace other than Providence for care. Medical care is very difficult to obtain and service providers couldn't care less.

I couldn t have asked for a more kind and caring staff than what I had when I was in the emergency room. It was Thanksgiving and when others were at home with family the nurses and doctors technicians and staff were there to help others. The admission person was so caring. Rachel the ultrasound tech, Liz the nurse, the doctor (his name alludes me at the moment) the student nurse were all amazing, kind and thoughtful.

My husband was involved in a motorcycle crash on I-84 on July 16, 2014. He was airlifted to St. Mary's ...I arrived about 8 hours later..and was greeted by security...who was expecting me and took me directly to his room.....his femur was outside his thigh(compound fracture) and his right had was crushed and 4 ribs broken and multiple other minor injuries.... His injuries were life threatening....4 days after surgery,,..he was transported back to our town, Tacoma. ...I am indebted to the doctor(s) and nurse(s) who did his two surgeries.....he had horrible open wounds..yet never suffered infections and healed very well since then....that first surgery on his leg and hand by the trauma surgeon(s) was done so well.. he suffered no infections and no further surgeries! ........my husband spent 3 months in a nursing facility in Tacoma...and went back to work FULL TIME November 1, 2014, that is INCREDIBLE! that is not quite 4 months...and he was 58yrs old at that time! Thank you St. Mary's. You saved my husbands life...

Very poor communication between doctors. I'm glad family was with my grandmother at all times or she may have gotten worse. Aside from the sub par medical treatment, I was particularly distressed by the dismal attitude of staff members. As a medical professional, I've always practiced saying, "resident care" if I'm working with a patient and someone knockd on a closed door. Here, after knocking and hearing no response, I entered and was yelled at, "we're working right now!" Not a considerate response for someone visiting a sick loved one. I was also upset that in 4hours of sitting in her room, I saw a male staff member walk by several times, and each time he was loudly complaining about various patients. Not something you want to hear, as they may be talking about your loved one in that way next. I was just very disappointed in her overall care.

This hospital is directly responsible for the death of my 19 yr. old son..he was in a mva on hwy 204 in 2014 he had a broken right femur..he was alert and talking when he was brought in asking the nurse to call me (his Mom) before I could get there they overdosed him with a mixture of morphine and fentanyl and then denied doing it when he crashed....they kept me locked away from him for over 3 hrs and when I finally got to see him..I was told he was alright that they had to intubate him for his protection and theirs..when they were ask about the overdose they refused to talk about it wouldn't administer the drug to stop it and had us air lifted to Seattle the next day..where they already had him marked for organ donation and he wasn't even dead yet..I wouldn't go to this hospital if it were the last one on earth this place is a disgrace..They took something from us that will never be replaced.

ER needs more staff and less chatting, dirty place, the wait time ... It does not matter what time of the day you end up here, usually does not matter if its full of patients or not they make you wait no less than 1 hour 45 minutes poor triage staff take the beatings because other staff cant stay focused and keep the line going . I think after so many years in needing the ER IN WALLA WALLA I learned our lesson going elsewhere for now on . how they are open and operating is beyond me.

I was sarcastic and rude to the lady at the front desk, but she remained very calm and pleasant. I had just sold my house and moved 800 miles, and all my stuff was in storage. An old rental was the only thing I could find and it was rotting away from the bottom up. I had been coughing for ten days like I've never known. The lease I signed said I would have to move out if I found the place unlivable, and I had nowhere to go. The wait time at Providence wasn't very long for a walk-in. Dr. Schwartzkopf was sooooo nice, even though I was going postal. My blood pressure was 178/?? when I'm usually about 115/70. He checked me out thoroughly and gave me a referral for a future doctor. I got my antibiotics, then I went home and put some clothes in a bag and stayed in a motel for a week with my dog. (After that stay I went back home and there were black stars of mold all over the floor below the shades. I determined that what originally looked like smoke over the stove was mold growing through from the old chimney-- didn't sue, would have been on a stretcher for sure.) I was treated better than I deserved at Providence and I highly recommend them.

We have only had positive experiences at St. Mary's Hospital here in Walla Walla. I have lived in Pittsburgh PA, where there is better care than most hospitals around the world, and I must say St Mary's Providence Hospital of Walla Walla has a warm feeling of love and care that I have not felt anywhere else. We are about to have twins and feel 100% confident in their staff and facilities to take care of us during this special time in our lives or if needed to send us where we need to go to receive the care required :) Thank You Saint Mary's Hospital Staff! You guys are awesome!

Thank you for the excellent care and compassion shown to my Father during his stay at St. Mary Medical Center. So many little things make a difference and the staff seemed to really understand that concept.

These ER people are awesome. I'm out of state. I had hard back contact with a firewood log. A week later (I'm stubborn). Major pain in my shoulder. These people at the ER saw me immediately. There was a line of people out the room waiting to get me checked and fixed up. Very impressed.

The 2 is because of decoration, honestly. HOWEVER, they tied me to a table, then gave me two shots, knowing my fear of needles, while strapped to the bed, and without my permission, put me to sleep. Isn't wonderful to be forcefully put to sleep, and then wake up up to see you've been impaled with needles, and you can't walk, or do anything alone.I wished they would have prayed with me or something. Bad experience overall.

Probably one of worst hospitals I ve stayed at. They literally take forever for the simple things. Everything was at least an hour wait. The doctor was bad too. I had two different ones and they both said my pain for for different reasons? Then one changed my pain medication and didn t even tell me why? And once I was in pain he refused to give me anything? Worst place ever. I rather drive somewhere else and be in pain then come back here.

The staff are nice and try but they are way overwhelmed. Triage needs to be better. I waited in the waiting room for almost 2 hours to get triaged when I had a kidney stone. Pain was unbelievable and at a 10/10. Childbirth was easy compared to that pain, no exaggeration. Waiting that long when you are in complete agony is not how you run a triage. People going ahead of me included people with what looked pretty minor comparatively. Please get this fixed. Add another triage nurse and room. I've been to other ER'S when I lived out of state and this is not how it is run. When I got called back finally, it took another hour before I got any pain medication because the poor staff were running around trying to help too many people. They were very competent and demonstrated caring but patient ratio was apparently too high. PSMMC, please do better.

5 stars would have been given but the initial interaction with the emergency room receptionist was negative because she wasn't empathetic, warm, friendly but instead robotic and cold. Other than that, all the staff with the exception of a single nurse during the hospital stay for a gall bladder surgery was excellent. The emergency room doctor was warm, friendly, empathetic, courteous, professional, etc. The same goes for each and every other staff member on the medical team throughout the stay going from the emergency room to being admitted. The surgeon was just as awesome as the emergency room doctor. Unfortunately, the anesthesiologist injured my throat due to an apparatus that didn't fit for my breathing - this should not have happened - and I still have a minute problem even after a couple months. Other than these three incidents, the gall bladder removal surgery itself went fantastic - like magic.

Terrible. Drove over an hour to see my new niece and they will only let 2 visitors in at a time which they are counting the father as one visitor!! They're apperently having a flu epidemic here which is the reason for the "limited visitors" one or two visitors at a time won't change anything.

Very clean and state of the art medical center, and also the agreed "Sleep Center Capital of the United States", having more experienced sleep experts than anywhere else and they helped me get a semblance of a normal life again by helping my sleep habits to start to correct themselves.

My experiences there were routine and mixed. The good: the family care and urgent care doctors have been good. They were good at listening and good at patient education. Their excellent charting system saved my health records from years ago, making it a very convenient place to transfer care. The bad: the emergency room doctors gave me bennydrill before explaining why and didn't give me a choice in the matter. My family doctor wrote prescriptions wrong and ran tests that were not covered by my insurance when an equivalent test would have been. The prescription was resolved quickly but the test has not been resolved despite six months of trying. They lost a check from my insurance so I had to pay the costs out of pocket. It took several months of frequent follow up phone calls to get the issue resolved.

The receptionist and most of the nurses where friendly at the ER, but when I got in the back the Doctors treated me like scum. One in particular, Dr. Parks. Talked down to me and made me feel stupid for a mistake I know i've done, his job is to treat not lecture. Listening to this poor man's Patrick Dempsey belittle and mock me to his posse of slack draw troglodytes kinda made me want to repeat that dumb mistake that put me in there. Then they gave me a referral to a Orthopedic surgeon to get my hand fixed. Turns out that referral isn't too who I was supposed to see, and now doesn't sound like they want to see me because of that. There's a lot more to this story. Bottomline is you're better off staying home when something is ailing you then coming here, after visiting here twice and getting two non fitting casses, I can only surmise they genuinely do no care.
