I came in earlier in the week to the ER barely able to stand or speak. I lost control of all functions and had a high fever. There was no emphathy, no care, I had to sleep in the car until they found me a bed. I went elsewhere.

There are some very nice people who work here. No one is rude but it s just too crowded and I m not sure patient care is the best here. My father died as a result of poor care here and now I m here with my mom who had a head trauma and now has BP 180/70 on BP Meds and we continue to wait for care. I did not even want to come here after how my father was neglected here. Unfortunately this was the closest hospital to her. From now on I ll be taking her elsewhere. I do not like to write a bad review because some of the folks here are really kind. But this place is poorly run and my poor mom shouldn t be waiting here five hours with a head trauma and extremely high BP for an 80 year old patient. I realize there are maybe more pressing traumas but hers could easily kill her if she has a brain bleed with high BP.

Went to the emergency room there because the hospital is in network with my PPO plan. I found out after the fact that some of their emergency room doctors INTENTIONALLY do not join PPO networks, because they know the patient doesn't have a choice so they can bill them full price rather than the in-network discounted price. My question is if they want to be in the business of ripping people off, why did they bother with med school?

UPDATE: July 2017. They overcharged me by over $2,000 after checking my benefits with my insurance company. They never initiated a refund until I found out. Now I am getting the runaround and a bunch of excuses to drag the process.

I have only wonderful things to say of the ER staff that helped my husband when unbeknownst to me he was on deaths door. They as well as the regular staff when he was admitted were all kind, patient, understanding and caring. I could not have asked for better care. Thank you PSJMC for all you do.

Such wonderful nurses, the best was Maru which was always there for me, she cared about my seizure meds. Also Thanks to William who was also on top of things. He made sure I had my meds and my liquid diet. Thank you both you really made a difference. Both served 4th floor north.

THE NURSES AND DOCTORS HERE ARE HORRIBLE! My father who had heart and lung problems recently had a stroke and was in constant need of medical attention due to his difficulties after the stroke. Many of the St. Joseph staff(doctors and nurses) were very horrible at their jobs. First off almost every one of the NURSES that were ever assigned to my father were extremely disrespectful and would not hesitate to show their dirty and mean attitudes and their attitudes towards my father really effected him. Nurses were always mean and lazy and never wanted to be helpful and never wanted to do more than anything but the bare minimum that was required for them. The DOCTORS WHERE HORRIBLE! They seemed like they didn't really care too much about treating him and just kept trying different medicine on him to see what the results would be. After receiving multiple UTI's and Pneumonia, my father was under multiple anti-biotic medications but I think they weren't working because the hospital room was always too cold and they would tie my fathers hands and a lot of times he wouldn't be able to cover himself and they wouldn't cover him properly. My father passed away in their hospital and they were supposed to try to shock him and they didn't even shock him!

This is a zero star by the way. I lived in Brazil and public health there was much better than this hospital will ever be. Went to the ER twice, second time I got admitted and Janice the triage nurse wouldn't let me talk and explain what I feeling. She didn't even had any access to the records of my prior visit the night before. When I finally was taken in this very rushed doctor made me explain everything again, told me I was probably be staying the night and never came back. About three hours later is one nurse came in to take me to my bedroom, and even he was surprised no one has told me anything yet. No doctor came to me until around 7am this morning, and doctor Lee was super rude, hardly expressing any interest in knowing what I was feeling and caring even less to what I was saying. Checked me on a couple things and told me problem was because I'm overweight. I tried to tell him my problem started when i used to weight 180lbs and that was hardly a problem generated by my weight. Indeed I got overweight because of my problem. He said he didn't want to perform a back surgery on me because of the size of the cut he'd have to do but he had no problem suggesting for me to get a gastric bypass surgery with another doctor. Then he said he was going to send me home and until now no nurse came in to discharge me, but they keep coming in to draw blood. Supposedly I'm to wait for another doctor that never shows up, who have been supposedly called pushed and text many times but never comes. Indeed I'm glad not to get any surgery here at this horrible place. Not even Donald Trump deserves such a horrible place to be attended. Really the only good thing this whole experience was Pauline, one of the nurse assistants. She truly took care of me and really cared about my comfort and health.

A HORROR SHOW! After my experience there, speaking to other families I met there and reading reviews I believe that Provident Saint Joseph Medical Center is a CULT of wild-eyed fanatics that purposely kill their hospice patients instead of Whatever you do please DON'T SEND ANYONE TO THEIR HOSPICE PROGRAM. DON'T let Babak Goldman or any of the cruel uncaring administers talk you into STARVING and DEHYDRATING your loved ones to death. File complaints against this hospital and the doctors who work there.

My baby daughter was born there on May 13, 2017 and the truth I liked it a lot how the hospital looked but I didn't like the treatment they gave me #1 the doctor never arrived until the next day and I gave birth with the nurses first one was attending me and when my water broke the baby wanted to be born and she was alone in the room with me and she said don't push and I would say I feel like me baby wants to be born and she insisted me not to push but I wasn't pushing simply my baby wanted to be born know and she turned me around squashed my knees and I felt terrible pain and told her please let go of my knees because my baby is gonna be born know and she said no because I'm not ready and they didn't have anything ready and they didn't want to shower her and didn't have anything ready and I insisted them to shower her and all they had to do when she was born they did it after 1 day and I had very bad experience and I wouldn't recommend and then I called the hospital and asked to speak with the manager and she didn't even care about what happened how sad that they have no professionalism.

Just wanted to say thank you to all of the lovely nurses, cooks, and doctors. I'm sorry I don't remember all of your names, but here are some of the nurses: Mai, Marlon, Marc, and Laura.
Doctors: Faisal and Habashy.
I know there were more. Sorry, I don't recall all of your names. Still, thank you for all of your hard work and kindness especially letting me walk around a little. And Mai, you were so protective, I felt so at ease going to bed that first night, which having never been in the hospital before is a big deal.

I was born here in 1996, and recently visited the Starbucks on their parking lot. I instantly felt connected and even think its symbolic how I have chosen a career path in Entertainment. Hmmmm, anyways, nothing really of importance. Just want to say I thank you for delivering a pre mature baby and helping my mother recover from a difficult C Section. Thanking you years later.

I will never go to this hospital again, the doctor...

I will never go to this hospital again, the doctors they let work in their hospital are not connected to the hospital at all. Their admitting paperwork tells you that the nurses and doctors are not employees nor agents of the hospital, which basically allows them to let any idiot work there and not have to be responsible for the consequences of having someone make a serious mistake in a patients care.

My first encounter with Saint Joseph's hospital was when I needed a transvaginal ultrasound to check for masses. The ultrasound tech was totally inept and actually asked me to insert the transducer myself because she didn't want to hurt me by inserting it into the wrong hole. This should have been a clue to run away from this hospital, but I didn't think everyone working here could be this stupid.

My second encounter was when I was admitted for a hysterectomy. During my hysterectomy my surgeons sent over some tissue from my uterus to have it evaluated by a pathologist at the hospital, but not an employee, whatever. He diagnosed the tissue as cancerous, so my surgeons went back in and removed my ovaries. After surgery he evaluated the tissue again and diagnosed it as not cancer. Because of this misdiagnosis I lost my ovaries, had he diagnosed the tissue correctly my surgeons would have only removed my uterus and not my ovaries. At this time I was 38, so basically I was forced into menopause at 38 because of this doctors wrong diagnosis. This has caused me weight gain, pain, hot flashes, memory loss and fatigue. I have to wear a patch to get the hormones I need that were lost due to losing my ovaries and this patch increases my risks for cancer and stroke. The hospital accepts no responsibility and neither does the doctor.

While in the hospital I contracted VRE due to somebody not following protocol.

My final encounter with this hospital was when I went to the ER a couple of weeks after my surgery. I went because my joints were stiff and hurting so bad I could barely walk. I was concerned that I might have a Staph infection or something but all the ER doctor kept asking me was if I wanted a pain shot. I wanted to know why my joints were so stiff that I could barely walk, but they were no help. I even had to go get the wheelchair out of the hall because they moved it out there while I was waiting to be seen and never brought it back when I was ready to leave. I went to my doctor the Monday after this ER visit and found out I was having an allergic reaction to Cipro and that was why my joints were swollen to the point I could barely walk.

When a hospital allows people like these to use their facilities but takes no responsibility for them beware of what can happen to you.

My husband had a prostate procedure done at Providence Saint Joseph today and we had excellent care and attention from admitting, pre-op nurse, surgical staff and post-op. Personalized care was provided without anything being rushed and a truly compassionate spirit was displayed by each health care provider. Far exceeded any experience from other hospitals in So Cal!!! Highly recommend and thank each and everyone of the angels that touched our lives today.

This hospital is incredibly unorganized. I went in for a test and needed the negative result to be able to work again. There is apparently supposed to be a code that lets you sign in. No code was added to my chart. I was given a number then transferred 26 times back and forth between the operator and emergency. At the end of this I was understandably irrate. Not how I'd like to spend 45 minutes. Now I will have to drive to the hospital (a 2 hour round trip) to get my results so I can go back to work. To call this ridiculous is an understatement. The number one thing I heard was "it's not my job". None of these people would survive a customer service based position. Y'all need to get your act together.

I suffered a laceration to my wrist which immediately resulted in numbness in my thumb, index and middle finger. Though the service was quick, the doctor who stitched me up, Alexander, said that it didn't make sense that those fingers were numb because that nerve wasn't in the location of the cut. He also confirmed it as a superficial cut and looks like no tendons were hit. I just got out of surgery because my tendon was completely severed and my median nerve was 95% cut. I am a jewelry maker for a living and may not gain full sensation but it helped that I got into surgery quickly to repair the nerve. If you're a doctor just say I'm not sure, you should see a specialist. And if you are a patient just assume the doctor has no idea what he is talking about unless he is a specialist.

My pregnant wife went into the emergency room with severe migraine headache and vomiting. They kept her waiting for 10 hours + with an empty stomach to finally give her a Snickers bar and put her on IV. This is absolutely ridiculous. They kept telling her there were no available beds but when I talked to other patients as they were leaving, they mentioned there were plenty of empty beds. Lack of empathy must be the first requirement to get a job Here. I had a very awful experience. Won t ever come here nor let any of my family members and friends come here. ER staff are inconsistent, slow-moving, unorganized and inconsiderate.

Horrible! Don't ever come here. You would get more compassion from a stone than the nursing staff here. They don't even make up for their lack of humanity by showing adequate medical knowledge. Unlike any other ER in the world, people are seen on a first come first serve basis. These idiots have no idea what triage means. They couldn't recognize an abnormal vital sign if it smacked them in the face! I sincerely wish there was a way to give ZERO stars, but there isn't. They don't deserve one star!

Emergency room is disaster, waiting time is way too long. I brought in toddler with head injury and we have to wait for a over 1 1/2 in a waiting room. And then they finally took her in the room (if you can call that space divide by a curtain, no privacy at all) but they haven't set up bed yet so wait with fussy toddler again. To finally being seen by PA not a doctor. oh yes I forgot in a room across where my daughter was they were taking x ray to a patient and I'm just few feet away, pregnant. I think its better if you go to emergency room in a third world country and you are going to pay less, of course!!STAY AWAY IF YOU WANT TO GET BETTER

The worst hospital experience I've ever had. Not only did I feel that I wasn't even a person but rather a number, they had me sit in waiting room for almost three hours before I even knew what was going on. They charged me a bill of over $4,000 dollars for three basic tests. And with the prescription of Ibuprofen. The doctor looked at me at one point as if I was nothing but a numbered patient. I wouldn't recommend going to this hospital unless it was the only choice.

My experience a year ago in the ER was a disaster. I had fallen the night before and was in pain. I went to the ER and, after seeing the triage nurse, was sent through numerous corridors to a back area of ER beds that I walked to despite my pain. The doctor did not do an x-ray despite my complaint of pain and telling her that I had a high pain tolerance. She insisted it was only a bruised tail bone and that I should sit on a donut and I was discharged with pain medication. 2 weeks later when I could barely walk, I went to an orthopedic doctor and the x-ray indicated I needed an MRI which showed an acute break of the sacrum.

I was visiting my aunt from out of state, when she fell and broke her hip. She was taken by ambulance and seen immediately. Her pain level was seen to, and she was assisted at her bedside in the ER by radiology, etc. She didn't have to be moved from department to department. On the one side, it's wonderful for the patient to not have to be moved all over the hospital for difference medical services. On the down side, it makes the wait in the ER waiting room longer for those being seen. So, it's a 50/50. I have to give this a 5 because they were so caring and attentive to my elderly aunt.

Simply horrible, have brought my mother because she is in excruciating abdominal pain. I see people going in before us with a swollen finger. Obdurate hospital with lack of care. Most importantly, I am astonished to see employees giving each other massages and they give you the look when asked when we are going to be seen.

This is the worst hospital experience I ve ever had and possibly the worst, most inifecient hospital I ve ever seen. Come learn about third world healthcare at St. Joseph s! I write this in the ER waiting room at almost 2am, when I arrived at 7pm. AND UPDATE: just got walked into my room as I typed this AND THEY FORGOT THE BED. THEY FORGOT THE FRIGGIN BED. This is amateur hour and I m surprised there s not more fights in the waiting room. Steer clear. Don t give these people your money. It s laughable.

This place looked nice and had a beautiful dumbo theme in the maternity ward. That's about the best part. My wife gave birth to my son here and the doctor who was there for the delivery was terrible. The doctor told my wife that our baby would die if she didn't lay on her back. What he meant was that he refused to catch my son and he wanted her on her back instead of a squatting position that she requested when we first arrived. Lying on your back is the worst position to birth in. Doctors act like they know what's best, but they truly only cared about getting it over with instead of property taking care of my wife. The staff lied to us and said birth would do my wife's birth plan only to create an "emergency situation" when there was no issue. They turned an amazing life moment into a tramatic experience for my wife. Mother's, you should consider a homebirth with a midwife before going to a hospital. We had a homebirth with our first child and it was amazing.

Had 2 natural childbirths here with Dr. Samantha Han. Nurses are great and on point. My doctor always was in time for delivery... cookies are amazing! Lol I even had to walk into admissions multiple time for IV fluids while pregnant and dehydrated. They always had me wheeled to the pregnancy floor and gowned ready for nurses in a jiffy!! They care sooo much even kept me over night to make sure I was okay to leave and that I had eaten. It is a hospital, not perfect but does a pretty damn good job compared to others outside of Burbank, CA. Its not all based on money and insurance type because I have an HMO insurance and they still treated me WONDERFUL. People are just rude and ungrateful now adays. Some of these other comments are sooooo stupid and irrelevant.

Had an emergency appendectomy at PSJMC in Burbank. It's a bit further from my home in Hollywood, but the drive was worth it. The ER was fast and responsive; the assigned surgeon was courteous, respectful and very informative; the nursing staff was top notch and the hospital itself was very clean with modern amenities. The bill was kinda' high, but hey, that's why I have insurance! If and when I get sick again, I'm definately coming here!

Almost every doctor I have works out of Saint Joe's and they are great. The emergency room and the physicians and nurses are kind, ethical, courteous and very much on their game. They care and if one has a complaint, they listen and they do something about it right away. Excellent hospital - they saved my life three different times - from cancer and one time during all that when I caught a really ugly MERSA staph infection and had to be there two really scary. Everyone kind and gentle - truly cannot say enough about Saint Joe's - the are a really great place and if you have difficulty in paying they absolutely will work with you too. It's a great place if ya have to be sick and in the hospital for sure. Dr.s Kishneff and Siimic in the emergency room the absolute best but really, they are all very, very good and I have been going many years now!

I called to try and reach someone (a family member) at that hospital. I had their name, phones number, DOB, and even their SSN, and I kept getting transferred back and forth between the nursing office, and the phone operator at least 7 times! Nice private hospital. Seems to only care about money. Poorly trained nurses dont have any answers for the medical questions I have. So I personally came over to check if my loved ones are ok. Everyone in this office is stresssed because its busy
I understand that. I asked the security lady why everyones stressed. She said it was flu season. So if theyre getting this stressed for flu season. I wouldnt be able to trust my other loved ones here either. Im glad they werent here for a serious reason. Otherwise I'd be a lot more concerned about their safety. Now I'd recommend if theres an emergency go to ucla. A more efficient hospital. You definitely wont be waiting for hours. Been in and out visiting since 10am today.

This place is the best hospital in the Valley. I've never had to wait very long and the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. I watched as a nurse late last night (around 2am) worked tirelessly to get this guy a cab, even when he was rude to her. She was having issues finding one but would not stop until she did. Whoever you are, a tip of the hat to you for being a rock
The doctors are great and don't try to add on things to charge you more.
If you need a hospital, this is the place!

Went here earlier last month feeling fatigued and light headed. I got in around 6 or 7 in the evening, got out by around 11 PM and was diagnosed with high blood sugar after a urine sample and some blood work. The nurses and doctor were great, facility was clean, lab work didn t get lost or tainted lol. Yes it was a little busy and I wasn t in and out within an hour, but it s a hospital, not a doctor s office, and other people were more sick than me. Overall, a good experience. Sorry for the ones who haven t had such a good one here. I ve been in crappy hospitals before so I understand that frustration.

This Emergency Room environment is NOT SAFE. They do not care if people in the ER take their masks off and talk on the phone. If you complain, they tell you to go outside if you don't like it, even in the 106 degree heat. They do not enforce the distance seating. They allow guests for some, but not for all. They do not clean in between patients. They do not sit you apart from Covid patients while drawing blood (in the waiting area, you have a curtain between you which signifies a "separate" waiting room). You will also share a dirty bathroom with Covid patients to give urine samples. You will pay over two thousand dollars just to step into the ER. And, this is just the start...

If I could give this Hospital a negative rating I ...

If I could give this Hospital a negative rating I would! My father was not only disrespected by the paramedics that brought him there but the hospital staff was even worse. First off, these paramedics are nowhere near qualified to DIAGNOSE a patient that is the M.D. s call. They felt that my father's pain was not "as bad" even though he was short of breath and told him he was okay. They refused to give him oxygen (whatever happened to standing protocols? What happened to doing your job and monitoring SPO2 sat levels?). On the way to the hospital they tried to poke fun at the situation and told my father to calm down because he was exaggerating. Additionally, the crew felt that it was okay to leave him unattended in the back of the ambulance while they all went into the hospital and stated their diagnosis; they returned and told him there were 6 people in front of him and he had to wait next in line (obviously they don t understand the importance of triage). These paramedics kept telling my father that it was nothing but kidney stones he was experience but needless to say, the lab tests confirmed that my father had pancreatitis, liver failure (his skin was jaundiced), diabetes mellitus, a ruptured gallbladder; his length of stay was over a week. The hospital staff (doctor & shift nurses) kept accusing him of being an alcoholic (which he is not) and told him that his habit led him to his current status. They had no right to make those assumptions; also they were extremely rude to my family during visitor s hours. Horrible experience across the board! As a member of the medical profession, I can honestly say that I am appalled by the way these professionals conducted themselves. These patients (and their families) deserve better treatment, fix it!

I was there a night prior to thanksgiving night. The whole time spent inside was 4hrs. They seemed friendly, however , the meds that was prescribed by one of the drs was outdated and could have used more efficient less harmful medicine. Overall experience was better than expected. I am updating my review as I had another incident and had to go to the ER. DON"T GO THERE !!! it was horrible waiting for 3 hrs and then they ignored me for another 3 hrs and at the end they didn't know what's going on with me and on top of that I am stuck with a huge payment for nothing !!!!!

In 2014 i was taken here in an ambulance with a fractured vertebrae. No tests were done, but morphine, valium, vicodin, more morphine and valium were administered before they sent me home. My primary care, orthopedic surgeon, and neurosurgeon doctors who later treated me were appalled. The vertebrae was crushed making me three inches shorter. Until last week, I have used only urgent care. I visited another ER, which admitted me and ran a series of tests for a possible heart condition. My good experience there made me realize that St. Joe's was even worse than I previously thought. Find another ER!!!!

Rude and prejudice so called doctor name jeniffer ...

Rude and prejudice so called doctor name jeniffer in the ER. she threatened to have my insurence revoked and made racial slurs against hispanics and told me people come first before brown. Alot of covering up and condoning with alot of the staff taking blame in order to protect the crimes and malpractice of the doctor jennifer. I asked to speak with the supervisor and i witnessed one of the nurses falsely putting on a admin name tag to throw me off and imposed as a supervisor to blow me off rude and very disrespectful liars these nurses and staff are .this should be investigated.

This hospital is a fraud. If they say they accept your insurance, they'll have a doctor not on your insurance do an operation, then try to make you pay full price. Biggest headache, don't go here!

Well, the actual nurse in charge of me was very nice, very helpful and seemed as though she had honest concern for my well-being.

However, the nurse that was in charge at the desk near by did not show any compassion towards my situation and actual made me feel, she thought I was faking. That was until my mother showed up to help with the necessary treatment I needed, because otherwise they would of not have listened to me or even taken me serious about how much pain I was actually in.

Ended up paying way too much because I was not seen during the actual "emergency hours" which is 8am-8pm. It was then later explained to me that if I could have waited another 20 mins and requested to be seen after 8:00AM my bill would have been half the price.

I'm sure the staff can't inform the walk-ins of this information.

I recommend you just choose a different ER if you can!

I would steer clear of the .emergency room at this hospital . My wife was having a medical emergency and we waited for 6-7 hours before seeing a doctor. We waited in the waiting room for 6 of the 7 hours. I wouldn t refer this hospital to my worst enemy. We got more excuses than service. Staff was rude unenthusiastic, and very unkind. Hopefully the hospital administrators will address the issues with the wait time in the emergency. While waiting, I watched countless families leave without being seen. To add insult to insult the billing department came into the room when we finally got a bed, to collect the copay after we sat in the waiting room for 6 hours. We entered the hospital at 6 pm and was treated and released at 2am. We will never set foot in this hospital again. Horrible Horrible Horrible. YOU VE BEEN WARNED!!

***this review does not include Kevin. I m going to say what I wish someone had told me before coming here...turn around don t waste your time if you actually care about your health RUN. I have been throwing up for days and can t stomach food ...you would think the first step would be to put me on fluids but guess not? Not even going to waste my time writing everything this hospital didn t do to help me. Instead of leaving better I m leaving with a bill on my way back to my original hospital that no longer takes my insurance sadly. I m willing to have an outrageous bill out of pocket to save myself from this really awful and terrible doctors.

I came in because of an accident in which I was on my scooter and was hit by a car. I came here for the injuries I sustained. I was treated REALLY well from the moment I walked in to the moment I left. I've had to speak with them on the phone multiple times to request medical records and billing for my claim, needed clarification, etc, and even then I was always treated really well, everyone that assisted me was kind, understanding, patient and respectful, and this made my nightmare situation a little bit easier to deal with! I don't know why other people say they had such negative experiences. I know hospitals can be really stressful places. no one WANTS to go to one in the first place of course. But if I were to have to go back anywhere, I would not want to go anywhere else. I recommend this place to anyone I know.
