If I could give this Hospital a negative rating I would! My father was not only disrespected by the paramedics that brought him there but the hospital staff was even worse. First off, these paramedics are nowhere near qualified to DIAGNOSE a patient that is the M.D. s call. They felt that my father's pain was not "as bad" even though he was short of breath and told him he was okay. They refused to give him oxygen (whatever happened to standing protocols? What happened to doing your job and monitoring SPO2 sat levels?). On the way to the hospital they tried to poke fun at the situation and told my father to calm down because he was exaggerating. Additionally, the crew felt that it was okay to leave him unattended in the back of the ambulance while they all went into the hospital and stated their diagnosis; they returned and told him there were 6 people in front of him and he had to wait next in line (obviously they don t understand the importance of triage). These paramedics kept telling my father that it was nothing but kidney stones he was experience but needless to say, the lab tests confirmed that my father had pancreatitis, liver failure (his skin was jaundiced), diabetes mellitus, a ruptured gallbladder; his length of stay was over a week. The hospital staff (doctor & shift nurses) kept accusing him of being an alcoholic (which he is not) and told him that his habit led him to his current status. They had no right to make those assumptions; also they were extremely rude to my family during visitor s hours. Horrible experience across the board! As a member of the medical profession, I can honestly say that I am appalled by the way these professionals conducted themselves. These patients (and their families) deserve better treatment, fix it!
