I suffered a laceration to my wrist which immediately resulted in numbness in my thumb, index and middle finger. Though the service was quick, the doctor who stitched me up, Alexander, said that it didn't make sense that those fingers were numb because that nerve wasn't in the location of the cut. He also confirmed it as a superficial cut and looks like no tendons were hit. I just got out of surgery because my tendon was completely severed and my median nerve was 95% cut. I am a jewelry maker for a living and may not gain full sensation but it helped that I got into surgery quickly to repair the nerve. If you're a doctor just say I'm not sure, you should see a specialist. And if you are a patient just assume the doctor has no idea what he is talking about unless he is a specialist.
