The doctors here made my dad die much faster than he should have. My dad would have breathing problems due to panicking and stress about financial issues. After coming to this hospital multiple times, THE DOCTORS TOLD MY DAD HE IS GOING TO DIE SOON, and my dad immediately fell into critical condition after they told him that.

My father was great, he was capable of walking around without a cane before the doctors announced that he may die soon. As soon as the doctors began telling my father and family that he may die soon, my father immediately fell into critical condition. After that is was just nursing home after nursing home and hospital visit after hospital visit until my father passed away.

The doctors here made my dad die much faster than he should have. They were incapable of properly diagnosing him so they just told him he is going to die.

Names of two doctors I recall who were incapable of properly diagnosing my father where DR. LOU and DR. GOLDMAN.
When these doctors would speak to me about my fathers health, I would get the idea that they do not want my father to live anymore. It seemed to me as if my fathers life had no value to these doctors and the nurses that worked under them.

It's obvious that these doctors are somewhat connected to the insurance company, and that my father was costing the insurance company too much. It was obviously more profitable for the insurance company and their affiliate doctors if my father died sooner rather than later.

The nurses at this hospital seem like they don't care about the patients at all. I feel extremely disrespected as to how my father was treated by many nurses at this hospital, in addition to the doctors here.

My attorney has not yet reached out to this hospital regarding any legal issues.

NEVER COME TO THIS HOSPITAL FOR ANYTHING SERIOUS!
*God forbid I ever fall in your hands,*

I was staying in LA for three weeks for my husband's work ( we are from Tucson ) and had recently had my third brain surgery .one night when my husband went to work, i began to have severe pain, and dizziness. and was vomiting severely .so i had no choice but to drive to the ER .i couldn't have went to a better hospital! I signed in, and the lady at the desk could see i was in distress and gently held my hand and assured me that i would be ok and well cared for .then in under ten minutes i was triaged and taken directly to a room where a nurse was already waiting to start an IV and send me to CT ..doc came in quickly as well and was such a wonderful man! He was all ears and had wonderful bedside manners. he got my pain under control and wrote me something for the pain at home until i could see my neurologist .and he cared so much about what was bet for ME that he referred me to a DIFFERENT hospital because my condition is so complicated! that truly is an amazing doctor that thinks of his patients! oh, and he checked my blood and said i was low on my seizure meds that i take daily so he went ahead and gave me some to get my levels where they should be.ALSO, i had the COOLEST male nurse too! he really helped me stay calm by talking to me and we actually had a lot in common so it was a nice moment in a bad situation. and when the doc's shift ended, he came in and told me goodbye and good luck ad gave me a very caring handshake ..wonderful people work here! i couldn't be happier with he entire staff at this wonderful hospital! i would recommend them to everyone!

They saved my life at this hospital. I was dying. I didn't know what was wrong with me. I was too sick to tell me much. I was hospitalized here for 8 days, and I left on the 8th day, able to care for myself. They helped me find an infectious Diseases doctor who diagnosed and is currently treating me. I can't thank the hospital enough! Plus, they always have made from scratch soups here! Thank you PSJMC!

The worst place for your loved one to be!! Especially in their last living days!!!
The Doctors have horrible communication skills and Nursing staff are rude. It doesn't even appear that the social workers give a d@#% either. I have never encountered a hospital experience this inconsistent and traumatizing in my life.

I came here by ambulance because I was in so much pain I thought it was all over for me. I had gone through cancer surgery at Cedars Sinai who almost killed me. After my insurance was drained Cedars sent me home. I live alone and have no one to care for me after major surgery.
After 3 days I called the Cedars surgeon back complaining that I was sure I was dieing and could not stand up due to extreme internal pain and could not leave the commode. The surgeon told me to call an ambulance.

I ended up in an ambulance heading to Providence. They were honest with their diagnoses, treated me extremely well and made me well and after a week there, I could take care of myself and asked to be discharged. Providence called me several times after I was discharged to check up on me.

I am now doing very well thanks to Providence.

Hospital was fine but the physician Dr Feldman was a nightmare. He had done a lumbar fusion for me and I only had the sciatica on the left leg and he also messed up a perfectly fine right leg and he had no explanation for what he done. Absolutely incompetent!! I then had a 5 week stay in a convalescent home with therapy and still was in more pain on both legs. Finally had to go to another physician who tried to fix the loose and crooked screws on the fusion about 9 months later. I am doing better but if not injured by Dr Feldman I believe the lumbar fusion done by the second doctor would have had the best outcome. Dr Feldman is a dangerous doctor in my opinion.

Not that you go to a hospital for good experiences but the wait on my spider bite was fair and the treatment once I was seen was swift. Hope to not see the place again but have to give it good ratings for its service

The worst experience ever, beside the fact that they almost killed me, they treated me like trash, played with my veins as if I was the doll of the day to practice. I was treated with disrespect, and at the end after being hospitalized I had to go back to another hospital after being misdiagnosed and after they created a blood clot in my veins. Unless you are dying and no one can take you anywhere else AVOID this hospital at all cost.

Dennis RT made the hospital a one star by refusing to do his job and even challenged the nurse to report him. He never showed up even though he was told its been 5 hrs delaying the discharge! Just horrible and bad working attitude!! St Joseph should never have an employee like Dennis!

This place is a joke. 6 hour ER wait. Couldn't even get a room, stuck in the hall. All of the staff move very slowly and seem to put only a minimal amount of effort into their jobs. Only part of service that was prompt was when they came to collect payment.

I will never return here or recommend this place to anyone!!!
I had an extremely difficult allergy injection, I miraculously survived tanks 10101 Riverside clinice, and when I brought out the ambulance, I left without seeing a doctor for 2 hours. For two hours I fought for life.

If I could give their ER negative stars I would. What a terrible hospital. I went in in agonizing pain. They could see I was disoriented and crying. They had absolutely no empathy for me or anyone else for that matter. There was a lady screaming from pain begging for help (God bless her soul), nobody batted an eye. I wanted so badly to help her myself but I couldn't even help myself. The person signing me in was talking to a colleague about how he's so over everything and he just wants to go on break. I can not fathom the treatment myself and others got. What type of a hospital is this? How do humans like this even exist? I'm so disappointed and heartbroken. This is not ok.

Went in with extreme pain in my tonsil. PAs did not listen to anything I was telling them and assumed a diagnosis after just a quick look, not to mention that when I asked further probing questions about my diagnosis, she said "Not to be rude, but i'm the one with the heath degree." She was probably just around 25, right out of school. Terrible bedside manner.

Awesome ER if you have a little one.

Awesome ER if you have a little one.

Wait times are short and staff is pretty friendly.

Parking is good if you can get a spot near the facility, otherwise, kind of a long walk to the ER.

Avoid this hospital at all cost. ICU is a money making death trap. High death rate at the ICU in this hospital. The doctors and nurses WILL NOT fight for their patients to live. They will pull as much money as they can from insurance and let the patients die. Nurses stole my mother s jewelry when she was unconscious.

Excellent service and and extremely high level of care. This afternoon, my stepfather passed away in the ICU - all of the doctors, nurses, and technicians were highly skilled and deeply compassionate. Thank you for your loving concern. As I posted on Yelp, the core values of Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center - respect, compassion, justice, excellence, and stewardship - are very much in evidence here. Highly recommended. I neither understand nor take seriously the negative reviews here, which seem to have been posted by drama llama malcontents who like to complain in order to be the center of attention.

When somebody is admitted for a possible stroke with a known history of diabetes but is provided with sugar diet trays. This was after the patient was already with a 310 sugar and discharged with a last sugar of 324 before once again being fed a high sugar lunch tray. Even when brought to the attention of the charge nurse tray was not taken away pr switched out. Pt discharged with no diagnosis or insulin because self pay. Pt was already noted to somewhat confused but was still interview for medical insurance with out anybody theee. Was told rep would stop by again woth contact info, but never came. This is terrible medical care ur basically seeing a self pay pt because he might die in ur lobby and u dont want it in the news. Yet have no fear to send out a man who can die tonorrow that's selfpay. I work in a hospital and in the 5 yrs I have worled with my hospital I've never witnessed such repulsive care for human life.

My experience was none the less overwhelming and a day i will never forget. I had long awaited my daughters arrival and the day finally came. My water had broke while at home. But it was not as dramatic as the movies make it. Anywho. Shortly after my husband and mother drove me to st joseph hospital. We arrived at 11pm and had to be admitted through the e.r. the wait from there was quick. It went downhill once in labor and delivery. I was taken into labor and delivery where they told me there were no clean rooms just yet so they place me in a room where there were multiple bed divided by curtains. In there nurse Yolanda and i will never forget her name, placed me on the monitor to show my contractions and my unborn daughters heart rate. My contractions were showing 11 minutes apart but the pain was unbearable so she went ahead and did a test that looked similar to a pregnancy test only this test tells if the membranes had ruptured meaning if my water had broke. The first test came out faint, so she went on to tell me my water bag had yet to break so she observed me another half hour. The pain was still not lightening. When she came back i told her i felt fluid and she ran another test and again said no my water bag still had not broken. She went on to tell me she notified my OB and she had gave me two options. #1 go home and wait or #2 walk around labor and delivery for 2 hours and hope contractions become closer together. I chose to walk. My husband and i walked for about 30 minutes because i could barely take the pain. As we were walking back to the bed they had placed me on, my husband saw nurse yolanda showing another nurse the test she had ran on me and my husband over heard the 2nd nurse confirm that the were both positive and my water had in fact broke. It was finally than the placed me in a delivery room. There in the delivery it got worse. Nurse yolanda went on to put an iv on my hand and failed twice bursting one of my veins. My husband became frustrated with her and saw that once my vein bursted blood started to trickle down my hand onto the floor. The nurse began to panic and rushed to clean me up. Once done she stepped out of the room and my husband came to my bedside along with my mother who too witnessed this event. My husband was furious that he fainted by my bed side and when he came to they had to take him to e.r for observation. Which he wasn't gone to long and i asked my mother to accompany him. While they were gone another nurse came in to assist in attempting to place an iv. She failed her first attempt and succeeded the 2nd time. They went on to take my blood. By then it was about 3am. Again i was still in agony. I asked nurse yolanda if i was still some way from delivery because she had yet to measure the cm. The only time she had done that was when i had first gone in at 1130pm. She went on to check and said i was at 6cm. I asked her if i can still get an epidural and she said yes! Once my blood was sent to the lab. It wasn't until about 430am that i finally got the epidural. I was in so much pain that my entire body was shaking and i some how found the strength to hold myself still to to get the epidural placed and that's that my contractions were now 2 mins apart. After that the pain was gone. I was now able to relax but than i noticed my daughter was positioned oddly in my belly and that i could barely hear her heart rate on the monitor so i let nurse yolanda know. For about half an hour she struggled to place the heart rate monitor correctly on my belly. I became worried and asked repeatedly if my daughter was okay. She wasn't too helpful assuring me. I saw her struggling. By than it was about 7am and finally another nurse walked in notifying me there was going to be a nurse shift change. I had never been more relieved in my life. It was then that my new nurse measured me and i was finally at 10cm. She notified my OB and it took my OB no more then 15mins to arrive. They prepped the room, within minutes and i began pushing at 7:32am and my daughter was out at 7:34am jan 23,2020.

Absolutely the most unprofessional ER I ve ever experienced... this place is like a police interrogation room where they try harder to find a reason why you shouldn t be there rather then just helping you with an emergency... the lies!! the lies... classic CA... the ER Dr(big tall white guy)didn t feel like my intestines sitting in my nutsack was an emergency... I spent 11 hours sitting in the waiting room, very uncomfortable, and I have a very lengthy pain tolerance.. to hear basically.. with your state insurance you re not going to get help here even though St Joseph s mission statement says specifically especially those who are poor and vulnerable I m calling BS on that statement... the Dr pulled me into a private room, after I told him in the ER hallway I was being sent home because I had state insurance, and told me it was absolutely because I had state insurance and there wasn t any Dr available who accepted my insurance???? WTF? What happened to helping the vulnerable??? NOT HERE!!! There mission statement should be we will do what we can to send you away in dire need (.).. absolutely the most terrible place I ve ever experienced... you are much better off going to county general...

I was not a patient at this hospital but visited a friend. She had heart attack symptoms and went to one hospital and there had a stroke. So they sent her to Saint Joseph's which was better suited to handle her problem. When visiting I found the hospital to be clean, professional and modern. There was s feeling that it was well managed and everything was under control. My friend in the hospital was also positive about her treatment there. If I ever needed hospital care I would be ok with St. Joseph's.

Was there for surgery in January and stayed there for 2 1/2 days and everyone was very nice and helpful. The check in volunteer elderly lady for the surgery waiting room was a bit cranky, but aside from that nurses and staff were great!

At this moment my mom is in the emergency room. We got here to ER aprx. At 8:49 pm. My
mom have stroke symptoms. Nurses perform exams fast. But the nurse mckinley had no compassion towards my mom pain. I really hope one day. He never goes with he's family member thru something similar to what my mom is experiencing.

I had to go to the emergency room due to gallbladder and the receptionist was kind of rude, she did not even respond my good morning or my thank you. Why am I giving them 5 stars? because everyone else inside the ER was SUPER NICE and really made me feel like all of them care about their patients, I don't remember all of their names but there was a doctor which I am not sure if she was Philippians, two boys nurses (white males), one girl at the Xrays, a couple other white girls that I am not sure if they were nurses, technicians or doctors assistants but I was really amazed how they were checking on me and on some other people there. Also, there were two other ladies at the Pre-OR I think they are Philippians and were SUPER kind (one took all my information and the other one went with me to the OR). Dr. Quilici and Dr. Roy Braid were REALLY NICE as well. The nurses in my floor were NICE TOO. Even the food was excellent.
P.S. There were also two men that one took me to the ultrasound and the other one took me to the OR floor, they were very kind and nice as well.
Thanks to all of you for your attentions!!!

This is the second time I ended up here with a painful emergency, first my disabled wife, now my mother, and the treatment is exceptionally P O O R !!! The people in the triage are offensive, the nurses are careless and hostile, and the doctors are rude and incompetent. You will have to find another emergency room to get medical attention after your visit to this emergency room. DO NOT COME HERE.

This Hospital is horrible. The doctors are mean, rude, and will find any excuse to send you home, even if you are literally on the verge of dying. The nurses will talk to you like you're a gang member in the street and I've had some of the worse experiences of my life here! I walked in here with a horrible headache, and let's just say I somehow ended up needing open brain surgery. Well, 1 turned into 7 as everything kept going wrong. From blood clots, to strokes, to comas, to ending up in the ICU with a fever so high they had to literally put me in what they called an ice room. So many times I almost died and to top it off I was discharged wheelchair bound. How does that happen?! And then, I was just there the last week, admitted, told I had swelling of the brain, given IV meds that basically kept me sedated and today Dr. Goldberg or however you spell his name, comes in and accuses me of being a drug addict and tells me to go home. He tells me that I obviously can walk because I have my legs crossed.. and that if I'm in so much pain in my head then how can I handle having so many "new" tattoos? Um.. ok?! I'm sorry but have we met before? How would you know which tattoo is the most recent? Why would you just assume I can walk because I have my legs crossed? My wheelchair was right next to me and you even stormed out of the room when you saw that I had to have my boyfriend pick me up and put me in the wheelchair because: I. CAN'T. WALK!
I'm sorry sir if you're having a bad day or anything like that but I've never been treated so badly and especially not by a Doctor who supposedly specializes in pain management.
Worst bedside manner ever.

Very unfair. They let others visit with multiple people but we are not allowed to. They say it is a rule but I am standing here watching others go in with more than one person. RUDE. I am a nurse myself and if I saw a family go through this I would not be concerned about 2 people being in a big room instead of one. Priorities people.

This was hands down the worst experience I have ever had as a patient. My doctor, K. WONG, PA was the most impersonal, rude, and cold hearted human being I have come across. My husband and I were describing the pain I was in and he "shushed" us multiple times and repeated "SHUSH ONE THING AT A TIME JEEZE". That is no way to talk to anyone let alone a patient. He asked if my pain was a cry for attention and anxiety; however, then gave me morphine?! Between his overall negative demeanor and HORRIBLE bedside manor I wouldn't let my worst enemy be seen by the likes of him. If my husband and I are the first to feel this way about him, that's one thing; however, that is highly doubtful as I read through these other reviews. I'm sorry I wasted my time being talked to in such a way.

Love this hospital and staff, my mother came from Eisenhower Hospital in Rancho Mirage (death hospital if you ask me) and we were treated with royal gloves, Dr. Taback and Dr. Dr. Friedman are wonderful doctors along with all the ER staff and especially the staff on the 3rd floor North, cannot remember all of the names but Luc, Vnard and the rest are all wonderful.

These people are not only caring for my mom but helping us with our insurance coverage as far as advice, letting us know doctors who care for each other and always looking out for our best interest, I really appreciate everything this hospital does and is still doing as my mother is currently still in the hospital as I write this survey. THANK YOU St. Joseph Medical Center and Doctors and Staff for helping.

This is the long long short story, wife was brought in a ambulance from work for respiratory issues and she is also pregnant. The intake lady came in took insurance and copay after about forty-five minutes of arriving. She wasn t seen by anyone for three hours in a room, place filled up a and empty a few times. The first nurse Tony was super forgetful or just over his shift and ready to leave. She was cold and asked for a blanket, he forgot and brought two about forty-five later after seeing her with two jackets covering her. We used the buzzer on the wall because after three and a half hours she just wanted to leave. We waited another half hour then used the buzzer again and the guy answering was puzzled that Tony still hadn t come to check on us, and we wanted to leave. Ten minutes later the Dr showed up and she was incredibly amazing!! She wanted to have blood drawn, fluids given through IV because she was dehydrated, and influenza swab done. Tony finally shows up fifteen minutes after doctor leaves and says he hears we wanted to leave AMA (Against Medical Advice). We said the Dr came in and we decided to stay. So now he s bummed he had to do all of these things. My wife says she also has heart burn about seven to ten times, he does nothing. Then right before hooking her up she throws up into the little baggies. Then he hooks her up and gets blood everywhere. She gets blood drawn every month since she had been pregnant and I have never seen that happen before. He says to her she has weird veins. Does the fetal heart monitor and leaves. About 20-30 minutes later her fluids bag has emptied and a new nurse who was also lovely comes in and everything finally starts happening, and test come back plus answers are finally given. At this point we have both been there six hours. They wanted to keep her because they said her heart rate was a little high. My wife and I said she would do much better at home and taking a hot salt bath then resting in bed and would come back if anything escalated. But Tony forgot to record the fetal heart beat so we have to do it again before we can leave. We finally got to leave after six and a half hours, without getting any prescriptions or anything. We get home to look at the paperwork they gave us and she was given a prescription for tums, which no one told us about.... Seriously, it s an over the counter drug.
-The next day she went to her regular OB who was appalled at her sister providence hospital and gave her a Z-pack right away to prevent infections.

Sat in their er for four hours in horrific pain. So long I had to beg for more Tylenol and fight for that multiple times. Waiting room emptied out and refilled multiple times, I still wasn t seen. I believe this was due to lack of insurance or ability to pay $300 on demand (why we went to we in the first place, so we could be billed). Really I would have done any test or surgery they said to make it stop, and paid for it, but was never actually seen. Waited so long I eventually left because i simply wasn t being helped and I can not be helped in the comfort of my own home.

Worst hospital ever! Starting with the lady who checks in patients shes soo rude!! I would fire her for her horrible rude customer service. The wait time is RIDICULOUS! About 2 and a half hours just to get my vitals done than to be asked to sit in the waiting room for an available room. 6 hours later still waiting for a room and a doctor, no care for the patients pain! I will never return here or recommend this place to anyone!!!

My first surgery at this hospital. Everything went so smoothly. Love the phone pre-registration a week before the surgery and one day before the surgery. Save so much time on the day of the surgery.

After checking in at the admitting office (right next to the Information desk) in the lobby, went to the waiting room on 2nd floor waiting for room available at the prep-room. In the prep-room, changing to the surgery gown and put away all the personal belongings.

After surgery, staying in the recovery room till fully awake then transfer to short stay waiting room for more observation.

All the staffs I have encountered are all so patience and friendly. Definitely ease my anxiety of having this surgery.

Don't let them put you in room 565 south. The bathroom smells like a urinal that hasn't been cleaned in 20 years. We almost puked when we opened the door. They came to clean it right away but it didn't help. It was in the plumbing or floors? Not sure but the staff was like... Welcome to the old part of the hospital. Nothing we can do. This hospital has so many issues with facilities and care that I think I will be taking my mother in law to another hospital from now on if I have a choice.

As for my experience; I was born at St. Joe's 1955; And due to a recent illness, I had a recent stay at Saint Joe's for 5 days. They were thorough and competent. No food for 5 days. Only IV fluids and morphine. It wasn't easy. But I understood that I was sick and a hospital isn't a resort. The doctors, nurses, specialists and staff are fantastic. If you need medical attention and are in the area, I have no problem recommending Providence Saint Joeseph's Hospital.

This would be no stars. Horrid. I went in there for an MRI with contrast. I informed them that my veins roll. They were unable to do anything, but cause pain & bruising. I suggested they use the heating pad. ( that brings up the veins) that has worked for me when blood needs to be taken. They didn't listen or hear me or... don't go there.

Five stars for their ER today. They are so organized, they had a Dr in the triage area who saw me quickly for my minor issue and I was in and out in 30 minutes. During this flu season they definitely know where to put ppl to get minor issues out fast and real emergencies into the rooms. Everyone was professional and it was clean and they have free valet parking for the ER. I will use them again! I see their building a urgent care and that will be great.

If you are board and have nothing to do with your life and want to spend hours after hours between sick people, people with bad flu and more go to the Emergency Room at Saint Joseph Burbank!!!!
BAD SUPER BAD service... they probably like to bill the insurance companies over and over again so they making you do the all test twice.... or they just board or forgot what they do..
SO if you feel bad and do need to go to the Emergency Room, Saint Joseph is completely the LAST place that you want to go!!

I took my pregnant wife to their emergency room and they immediately transferred her to the labor and delivery department. The staff is very professional, nice and so carrying. The nurses are so quick and very highly educated and knowledgeable. Our best regards and gratitude to the staff and OBGYN Dr. Armine Ghazaryan. Thank you so much and keep up the good work!!

My husband was there for a minor surgery in the short stay part of the hospital. Everything was on schedule. The staff was very good and they had good systems in place. Dr. K visited before the surgery and spoke to me afterwards to tell me how the surgery went. Cafeteria was ok. The Healing Garden is a good place to get some fresh air. Overall very nice.

I was so scared to even come to this ER because of the reviews that I had read, but I said my prayers and walked in. Thank God I did because it turned out to be a bowel obstruction. Everyone from the ER nurses and drs to the nurses on my floor were excellent. They were so kind and compassionate and made me feel better and comfortable. I will definitely come back if anything else was to go wrong. Thank you

5 hr. wait in the ER all the time. Under staffed hospital with 2nd & 3rd rate doctors. They gave my wife two pulmonary embolisms after a knee replacement surgery due to the fact they did not move her leg enough after surgery. When I had a gall bladder removal the doctor never saw or called me after the surgery & I was in intense pain. Also they have become an anti pain med hospital.last year when I had pancreatitis the only medicine I was given was 2 mg of morphine every 6 hrs. Also no shower or sponge bath for NINE days. The incompetent surgeons released me with no medication after a total hip replacement. I had to wait a day for the skilled nursing doctor to prescribe needed medication. Also the cruel surgeon sent me home after gall bladder removal with only a nicotine patch & an anti-acid RX.The whole system at St. Joseph's is BROKEN. If you have the option go to a real hospital like Cedars or UCLA.

The first time I was here on July 1st, some of the rudest nurses I've ever Had, couldn't get my IV in and just yelled well I'm not finished so stay still....as if I was moving to begin with, they don't even know how to put in an IV and just stick it everywhere. Since she couldn't put it in she just walked away. Now I came later in the week because I'm sicker and when I was trying to explain why I'm there without a voice because of a sore throat, the lady in emergency was rude and had an attitude. All the people here have nasty personalities and if they can't do the job or don't have the patience they shouldn't be here.

I spent time visiting a friend here at the beginning of the year and also assisted her when she was discharged. All of the staff seemed gracious, helpful, and friendly from my own point of view. I was especially impressed with one nurse who helped me over the phone when I tried to call my friend, not knowing she had been intubated. The nurse was very patient and helpful in facilitating our communication, reading what my friend had to say in writing.
