This is the first negative review I have done, so I am truly not that difficult to please. A rating of 1 is far too high. I stayed overnight in this hospital. I have no complaints with the service. The billing is horrible. I have spent the last year dealing with them. I stayed in the hospital in May of 2017 and they didn't bother billing the insurance until February of 2018. They billed us $7000, 3 months later. We complained, they appealed and they reduced it to $1400. We paid the $1000. The insurance company told us that they would cover the $400 if it were appealed by the hospital. If they would have made contact with me at any point and communicated what they were doing (or as it turns out not doing), I could have helped push things forward. They did not do that and now the window for appeal is closed. Horrible follow up, horrible communication, and meaningless conciliations from their billing people. We paid the $400, but not another dime. If I am clinging to life in an ambulance and this is the closest place, they will need to take me somewhere else.

After visiting the hospital for a second time in the ER, it was another nightmare. Too bad other hospitals are not closer. They are a big scam. Charged me 8,000 for a hospital visit for chest pain, to take 2 simple blood tests, make me wait 8 hours in pain, and then give me a shot of medicine for anxiety 8 hrs later. No other tests were performed and I didn't have health insurance at the time. Please stay far away from this hospital as they will do nothing for you and try to empty your life savings. The PA there is also very rude, cocky, and will only ignore you while sitting on his a** playing on his computer instead of working.

I hate this hospital. I was in the ER in July of 2015 for horrific side effects I was experiencing from an IUD. part of my problem was extreme anxiety. The nurses were laughing at me. After being told I was prescribed norco for my back and neck issues, they treated me as if I were there for pills. The nurse grinned and says. Would you just like a pain pill? I have never been treated this way. An older lady was there as well and was experiencing such bad panic attack that she was pacing the floors. I heard them making fun of her and one nurse told the other to just bring her back and take her vitals to make her happy. I got up and walked out. I go to Morris hospital now for everything. The staff at provena in Joliet is so unprofessional that it's beyond words. No compassion.

ER IS SLOWER THAN MOLASSES! DO NOT GO UNLESS YOU SERIOUSLY ARE BLEEDING OUT! (BLEEDING TO DEATH!) EVEN HEART EMERGENCIES TAKE TOO LONG TO JUST GET AN EKG. 25 MINUTES LAST TIME...WAS TOLD MOM RESULTS. I HAD A VERY DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT WAS CAUSING HEART PAIN AND AFTER 4 HRS IN THE ER OF NOT KNOWING AFTER AN EKG AND AN XRAY I WAS PUT BACK IN THE WAITING ROOM, WAS TOLD THERE WERE NO ROOMS AVAILABLE. SO I LEFT AFTER THE 4HRS. CALLED MY DR WHO ASKED ME TO GO BACK AND I ENDED UP TREATING MYSELF AS AN EX MEDIC OF 10 YRS.
I'M STILL ALIVE WITH NO THANKS TO THEM. FIGURED I WASN'T DYING IF THEY FELT IT WAS OK TO LEAVE ME IN WAITING ROOM FOR 4 HRS.

My girlfriend had back surgery performed there and while the night nurses she's had have been good (especially Linda, SHE'S AMAZING! )
At night they were so understaffed that there were only 3 nurses on the floor and no CNAs. 2 of the nurses wouldn't lift a finger to help and would continue to watch YouTube videos and chat while Linda (my girlfriend's nurse) was hustling around all night to cover all of her patients.
Given the choice, I would never want one of my friends or loved ones to be admitted there.

I had a cerebral aneursym on January 7th, 2011. Due to winter weather....a week exactly before my 40th B-day. I was taken by ambulance. You're neurological department saved me. Dr. Bashir & Battrutin (if spelled name right...apologize), nursing staff, dietary, and therapist were all wonderful in my path to heal and return to my normal life...I had a wonderful blessed experience there. So thank you! Brendan and I are doing well living in Missouri. Wanted to give you all an update and 5 's.

I have been sitting here for 4 hours, my injury is still gushing blood. Nobody has even looked at me. The hospital is NOT busy. The doctor was talking about her plans for this weekend and listening to music waiting 10 minutes to go home right at 7pm.
There is an elderly man who fell and hit his head. He has a baseball sized gash on his head that is bleeding through the bandage. And nobody seems to care. They havent even taken the bandage off to check on it. The way he is breathing, and how pale he is... I doubt he will make it through the next 48 hours.
This place sucks and I would not trust these people with my life. Ever. Don't come here.

Horrible. My mother was admitted no one took her seriously none of my concerns or hers. Incredibly rude people. DO NOT go here if you want good care for your loved ones. Nurses, CNAs have NO compassion or see no reason to explain anything they are doing. Have questions? Just expect a rude toned answer. Want visitors? Expect to be treated badly. Just horrible people.

My experience in the ER and then Inpatient was great, I feel the staff was very attentive and compassionate. This was much better tan my other hospital ER experiences at a "newer" hospital. Its a shame the majority of the feedback on this site is negative. I guess satisfied people dont bother to follow up.

If you can possibly make it to another hospital such as Silver Cross or Edwards, do yourself a favor and skip St. Joes. They are so severely overcrowded and the staff is very overworked and trust me it comes through in their attitudes. After sitting for 6 hours waiting on xrays, never making it to an actual bed or my own triage room, Doctor tells me he thinks I have an tissue infection in my foot and he prefers I spend the night for iv antibiotics, but he can also write me an rx and send me home if i so chose. I reluctantly agree to stay, since he's the doctor and infections are scary. What he doesn't mention is that there are no rooms available so I have to be shuffled back to the 1st waiting room, now overflowing with people and screaming kids. The male nurse just drops me back there before I even know what's going on. When I try to talk to him he just walks away. Then when I get upset, Noone there has even an ounce of compassion to offer to help me but the valet guy. I finally get the security guy to get the nurse back so I can tell him since there's no rooms il take the rx, he tells me "that's not gonna happen" as rudely as possible . I'm now crying trying to tell him that the doctor said I had a choice, and at the time, I had no idea that I'd be sitting out here indefinitely until a room opened up. Again he just walks away. When I finally get a discharge paper. I actually apologize to him for getting upset and instead of accepting, he scolds me for crying. Absolutely Zero bedside manner! Maybe Noone ever taught him that hospitals scare people. If my foot doesn't fall off, il go somewhere else tomorrow and I highly recommend you do too if you have a choice.

The Ruby Tuesday of hospitals. The quality that never seems to be. The most recent visit consisted of 11 hrs until my 2 yr old was administered as a patient. 7 hrs.in the ER waiting room and at least 4 hrs in a temp room. The most notable mention is there is a Dr. Behind the curtain.

Bad experience with ER waiting for hours to be checked in they couldn t not get diagnose the problem and $1000 up front for deductible after all they charge insurance over $11000 for 4 hours in the ER and then send me another bill for $2400 it s just a terrible experience have to go to another hospital which they could diagnose the issue and same thing in another hospital went to ER to check in and had to stay in hospital for 3 days bill came for $23000 dollars and had to pay 800 out of pocket St Josef it s not good experience for me be aware and stay away

Horrible wait times. Upon arrival to the er I was told it was at least a 5 hr wait to be seen. Once I was triaged you're left waiting with no updates by staff. Upon getting to a room in the er you'll find a sign that indicates your er
visit may be as long as 6 hrs. Always thought
of St. Joseph's as top notch, I'm so surprised by my experience this time. Time for me to Google local hospital er wait times before showing up at a hospital er.

I had a test done November 1st. A week later, my doctor was trying to get the results and they were told that there was a glitch in there system so it was going to take another week for the results. Week after week, the same issue. A MONTH LATER... Just tell me you lost the results and I have to have this test done again. ITS ABOUT MY HEART! So I am VERY worried

With trying to remain fair, one star is too much. This hospital is the worst hospital I've ever been to in my life. My son was brought into the ER for a life threatening emergency and not only did we have to wait for hours while people with cuts were admitted first but he was misdiagnosed. The doctor that we had in the ER was not personable and acted as though we were wasting his time. His beside manner was appalling. No tests were run, no real questions asked. Sent us home with 8 pain pills and that was it. We ended up going to another ER the next day and my son was diagnosed with a very serious situation. It was diagnosed because the correct questions were asked and tests were run. I could go on for hours of my dissatisfaction with Presence Saint Joseph, however, there's no need, all the negative reviews of this hospital speak for themselves. I did call and speak to an advocate and they said it was reviewed by the Director and there was nothing they could do for me. Judging by all the replies this hospital has some serious issues and it doesn't appear anything is being fixed by a 2 line reply to patients. I'm just glad my son is alive. We will never go to this hospital nor recommend it to anyone.

This is the 1st and last time I will ever step foot in this hospital. I was with a friend who was taken by ambulance. When I arrived I could not believe she was sitting in the waiting room. There had to be over 20 people in there. I had no place to sit and someone who was brought in by ambulance was made to sit in the waiting area. There are signs posted all over stating if you have any symptoms of cough, vomitting, sneezing, etc that you should wear a mask. This is not enforced at this hospital at all. I was sitting in the waiting room and across from me was a gentleman that was vomitting, coughing and moaning for over an hr. He was getting up walking around, placing the bag he was vomitting in on the floor and was touching doors and many other things with his infected hands. He asked when he was going to be taken back and was told when it's your turn by a very rude nurse. I am sorry, but someone in this condition should not be made to sit in a waiting room infecting anyone that is not sick or making those that are sick any sicker. I asked to speak with a supervisor and I was rather disturbed by her response to me that I can wear a mask if I was so worried about it. When I mentioned that I'm not sick and they had someone in the waiting area without one on she could care less. There was No care or concern for anyone in that waiting room. There was also a very new baby that was forced to sit by this sick man so hopefully this baby won't catch what he had. The vallet parking attendant was clueless how to open my door to bring my car to me and took him over 10'mins and I had to walk over to get my own car. I would seriously consider visiting this hospital cause if you weren't sick when you arrived you will defintely catch something while you are there. Very unsanitary!!!!

I am not very happy with this hospital.

I am not very happy with this hospital.

My boyfriend had a mental breakdown & had to go into the psychiatric portion of the hospital. He was transferred from Streator to Joliet. You'd think they would have informed someone, right? His stepdad, his roommate, his girlfriend...? Nope. Not a call. My boyfriend's roommate had to spend HOURS tracking him down. And, sure, that's partially Streator's fault, too, but my boyfriend ASKED the nurses if he could get his phone to get my phone number & call me to let me know where he's at & that he's okay. They told him he could, then they never allowed him to (trust me, this will be going on Streator's hospital profile too). Nice, way to lie! That shows such promise of a good hospital, lying to people who are already under enough stress! If it wasn't for me getting a hold of my boyfriend's roommate, I'd STILL be panicking & wondering where he is, 3 days later.

Oh yeah, speaking of 3 days later, you know how involuntarily admitted psych patients are legally supposed to be out of the hospital after 72 hours? Yeah, no, not going to happen with this hospital. He's not going to be out until MONDAY (that's two days after he's supposed to be out). Why? Because they "don't have anyone to discharge him". SERIOUSLY? That's like someone going into the emergency room & then when their problem's all fixed saying "oh, no, you can't leave, we don't have someone to discharge you." It's your JOB to discharge him. If someone's in there voluntarily, he/she/they have the right to leave whenever they want- so they're breaking the law there too by not allowing them to leave on the weekends. I'm FURIOUS- he's going to pay more than he already will have to for his copay with insurance because the staff can't do their job & discharge him on time (or, they're simply trying to leach off money from the "crazy people" & their families. Nice), he's going to miss the very last concert I am performing in for school, not to mention all of the stress they have put me under by not knowing where he was at for 4 hours, & the stress of not knowing if he's okay. I have bad anxiety & I can't even tell you the number of times I've had to stop myself from freaking out & breathe. I have burst into tears multiple times worrying about how he's been.

The only reason I am giving this place 2 stars is because:
A: I HAVE to rate it. I can't give it 0 stars.
B: He has told me there is one male nurse in there that talks to him & makes sure he's okay every morning before he leaves. I really appreciate that, & if I ever see him I will be sure to tell him so.
C: He says the treatment he's getting is helping him. (By what I've heard from him & what I've researched, it's pretty standard stuff so it's not like they're going above & beyond, but I'm still glad it's helping)

But still, a few good ingredients in a soup doesn't make the soup great.

Took a cocid test. It takes longer then 24 to 48 hours. So when they tell you that expect much longer. Thats not a true statement . Theyre not very friendly taking the test I believe because they dont have enough staff however the lady was gentle with me and my son dispite the obvious frustration she carried . I knew it wasnt personal.

My daughter is in a ton of pain and have been waiting in the emergency room lobby waiting to get in for 2 hours. She is 5 and grew impaitient. People that came in after us were getting in before her. I have faster and nicer service going to Edwards Hospital than I do here.

Absolutely the worst hospital I have ever been to in my life. Nursing staff was horrible, Doctors seemed to not really care and it took 3 to 4 times askin for something to get done. If you have a choice to go somewhere else DO IT. DON'T GO THERE!!!

All zero's. It's nothing like when it was the old St. Joes or Provena or even Presence. It's been extraordinarily horrible since Amita took over including their confusing billing which is a mess. Since Amita bought them, they've been laying off tons of loyal good people. No one their is happy which lends to poor customer service and treatment in the end. Go to Silver Cross or other.

I sat in the emergency waiting area for 2 hours waiting for a room, keep in mind it s 4am nobody is in the waiting area besides me. I had serve back and stomach pain and could barely stand up by myself,a man walks in 45 mins after I ve been waiting (doesn t look like he s in visible pain, not bleeding or screaming) and immediately gets that room I've been waiting for. I asked the two lady s at the front desk what s taking so long if there was just a room available they just had to clean it and why is this man getting a room before me! They go on to say his issue Is more serve then mine and they just had two ambulances pull up I have to wait for them to make sure their issues ain t more serve then mine. I sat for another hour still no name call or even an update on a room, and finally when I m called they don t even apologize for the wait! I will NEVER go here ever again!

I can directly talk about the ER or out patient services. What I can talk about is my experience as a surgical patient with extended care. I was hospitalized in May of 2012 and September of 2015. Both stays were done for lower spine operations. I can't think of a better place. I am in the medical field and work at a different hospital. My spinal surgeon works exclusively from St. Joes. As a member f the medical community, I was overwhelmed with the level of care and detail I received. It wasn't till my last night in the hospital that I divulged my employer as another area hospital. Their is no better litmus test of a hospitals staff and service than an unknown peer of the medical community. By far, they were the best care givers I could ever have imagined. If not for the distance from our current home, I would have already applied to St Joes and seek employment.

I've been here for over 8 hours for an EMERGENCY ROOM visit and haven't seen a doctor. The staff is rude. You can't park your own car and the valet seems to be inconvenienced by doing his job. I've been watching people leave without being treated all day because they're tired of waiting. I'm not sure what the deal is, but this is the absolute worst emergency room experience that I have ever had.

I received excellant care Nurses and doctors and aids were very helpful and attentive, while I was there. I would like to make mention of Crystal(an aide from neuro step down on the 6th floor) she was excellant above and beyond, nurses Arlene and Ruth M(from ICU), Jessi V. and Pete (from neuro step down), these nurses were incredible, each has different strengths but they were great.

Called about the well-being of a family member in the psych unit since they were being held without an evaluation and was rudely spoken to by staff who I was later told by my family laughs at patients openly on the unit and was told he can have a three minute shower after they held him in the ER all night. Psychiatrist, Dr. Hasabou, was there all day and was apparently too busy to do a 10 minute evaluation though my family member had been on the unit since 7am. As a clinical psychologist in training I made sure to tell them I m familiar with the ethical laws in place and the staff was INCREDIBLY rude and unempathetic. Don t take your family members here, they re literally evil and don t care. They re asking for a lawsuit.

The behavioral health unit is a joke. Social workers, nurses, and doctors clearly don't communicate and have no regard for patient's best interests. My mother was admitted for two months. In this time, Darcy Klika, the social worker gave minimal information about her care and status, and failed to provide resources for follow up care until the day before my mother was released. Darcy gave us incorrect information about medications and dosages, so we had no preparation for continuing care after release. We were told that her doctor, Shawn Wood, would call us at discharge (only one time though, so be sure to answer) and he never did. Any time we called to get updates, staff was rude, condescending, and unknowledgable. There was ONE nurse that spoke to who seemed to care. She informed me that my mom should be sent home with meds for an infection since she was going to be discharged. Upon release the NEXT day, we were told by the social worker that she doesn't need those meds anymore. My mom came home with hair matted so badly to her scalp that we will have to shave her head. If you care for your loved ones, bring them ANYWHERE but here.

I took my 2 year old son here for a laceration and practitioner Jessica McNulty treated my son wound with Staples instead of giving him the disolvable stitches now my 2 year old is going to have even more pain when we take these STAPLES OUT GEESH HE IS ONLY 2 FOR CRYING OUT LOUD I WISH I WOULD HAVE NEVER EVEN CAME HERE WORSE MEDICAL TREATMENT EVER.

This hospital is a complete joke. Came in by ambulance to the ER because the paramedics couldn t take me to Silver Cross even though it s only slightly farther away. Once I was in a room and hooked up to an IV they stopped seeming to care, the only nice thing that happened was I was quickly seen. It went downhill from there.

The transport and discharge nurse were completely rude and dismissive, the room was dirty, I received no discharge instructions besides the meds they were going to put me on (mind you, when they recorded the meds I m currently on they ignored the obvious fact that one of the prescriptions could negatively interfere with my current meds), staff didn t bother acknowledging or introducing themselves to my husband, they didn t update any of my new information that s changed since I was last seen there in 2012 besides my address, and I received problematic test results both a day after discharge and 3 days later with zero contact or recommendation from the hospital to seek further testing. I had to find out from the patient portal. They also didn t include my GP on any of my information, so I now have to track down copies of my test results to be seen for a follow-up appointment.

When I had to use the bathroom I needed to get unhooked from the IV, etc. every time, and it was 10-15 minutes each time to get someone to notice I needed to get up and go even though the ER section I was in was empty sans 2 other patients, but the staff was too busy chatting away about anything but work at the nurses station to care.

My favorite part was getting to hear morning report for the nurses right outside of my room. Which consisted of reminding them they need to wear their masks at all times and how there s still issues in sending Covid tests off to the lab... if you re heading in with Covid concerns, RUN to the next closest hospital. We re 8 months into this pandemic and St. Joe s still doesn t have their you-know-what together... They don t even have it together for the regular concerns that come in. I m going to take the risk and have my husband drive me to Silver Cross next time and skip bothering with 911 no matter how bad things get for me in an emergency, St. Joe s lived up to its usual reputation of being a terrible hospital. We were hopeful the new change in overhead would maybe be promising, but its business as usual. I honestly have no idea how this place is still allowed to be open.

Don t bother commenting to email your patient advocate, either, clearly no one is being heard or else things would change.

I couldn't be more disappointed with our experience at this Emergency Room. The staff from the receptionist all the way up to the doctor acted like we were bothering them. They sent us out of the ER, with the issue not even close to being resolved. Just ridiculous, last time I will ever set foot in this hospital.

I usually have pretty good experiences here. Both my children were born in this hospital. All the nurses where nice and personable. There have been a few times where I ve waited a little long, but I think that s the same in any hospital. My only criticism is one time wife was admitted to the er for what would later be diagnosed as an ulcer and there was blood on the bed rail from a previous patient.

Came in on Sunday night with extreme flu symptoms, after special care from Pang and the rest of the staff was able to walk out on Monday night feeling great. They took care of all my concerns and did an outstanding job

I cannot express how far this hospital has fallen ...

I cannot express how far this hospital has fallen & this is simply the beginning of formal complaints that I will be filing on behalf of my 2nd daughter. The hospital seen young people and treated them poorly on several occasions because of it...they failed to make it clear as to what pain medication they gave a breast-feeding new mom...1st they told her it was a Norco, then told her it was "Like a Norco, to then confirming that it was a Norco but that it was a 7.5mg & "Would Not" pass through the breast. When I told her today that that was not true she was very hurt & upset. I also heard them say she could NOT give me consent to call on her behalf even though she didn't understand much & no one was really explaining much. They failed to give her ANY kind of hygiene products until the next day. I spoke to someone & was told that they'd see to it that she'd be taken care of going further only to find out that they then discharged her prior to her having a BM after giving birth. No one taught her how to clean the baby's umbilical cord or anything. These are not just major issues but pose safety issues. No one fully explained much to her throughout her stay there & this is just NOT acceptable.

Not at all impressed with the staff at this St. Joe's. My son was brought into the emergency room, unconscious. When I got there, the few nursing staff members I saw were lacking personality and compassion. I had been there for an hour and decided to step to the nursing station to find out what was going on, as no one had been in to see us. A nurse was on the other side of the door coming in. I asked her a question about what they had done for him since he had been brought in and was told, "I don't know, I wasn't the nurse when he came in. Someone else was, so they would know. I don't!" and she left the room! It was 10:15 am, isn't shift change at 7 am? How could she not know? or at least take a minute to find out?! Any question I asked her she acted as though I hadn't said anything and once was walking back out the door without any response, when I said, "excuse me", she then turned around and said, "I heard you", stammered something about asking her and left the room! Who was her? and why couldn't she just say, "I'll check and get back to you?" instead of ignoring us? I've worked in two Chicago area hospitals and have NEVER experienced any thing like that! Turns out, we don't even know who she was, a women who came in half an hour later a women came in with discharge papers. I asked if she was from admitting and she simply said she was my sons nurse, no name was offered. She did answer questions and was polite but the discharge information she offered was very vague and I had to offer my son specific details so he would know what to expect. She confirmed what I said, but continued to offer only vague details. Not impressed.
However, there was a very nice young man in a security uniform at the information desk who was polite, helpful and courteous. Kudo's to him!

My dad had to go to this hospital due to emergent situation. He usually goes to silver cross but if he didn't go to st. joes he probably would not be with us today. The nurses are nice, the aides are nice, the hospital as a whole could be cleaner and more updated. The walls sometimes make you feel as if you are in a very old hospital.

My doctor admitted me in the hospital straight after a visit with him. I'd received the best of care. All the staff was amazingly hospitable, professional, warm, caring, knowledgeable and friendly. My stay at St. Joseph Hospital was very comforting.

Well don't know about other people but , they took care my wife in record time and they were very nice . The staff on the first floor that sits at the desk . Well they are more worried about their phone , then there job . But over all I give it three stars not because of doctors or nurses but , because the women at their desk were a little rude and don't need to be there . Get off the phone and pay attention.

After reading not only the other patient reviews I read all the replies from the patient advocate. What a joke. Standard automated replies with no substance. My personal experience with this hospital was terrible. If there were zero stars that is what I would leave. The ER experience for my young child was horrible. She was misdiagnosed 2 separate times by 2 separate doctors. The male doctor wouldn t listen to us and dismissed us as if we were incompetent. Do I have a medical degree? Yes I do and this goes to show that everyone no matter what their education level is should be treated with respect. We were not treated with respect nor did we feel we were treated properly not even subpar. I see all these other negative reviews and now I understand why. When someone takes the time to write a review especially negative this does warrant some looking into. I did reach out to an advocate and they were no help. They told me someone would call me back. I never received a call but I did get a bill right away. They were sure quick with wanting their money. We will not refer anyone to this hospital ever!

Suffered in excruciating pain for 2 days.. while the doctor did NOTHING.a few days ago I woke up and could not move the lower half my body due to extreme pain, had to call the paramedics and was taken to the hospital. After extremely long wait in the ER, about 8 hours I was finally admitted into a room in the ER, where the doctorgave me tiny bit of morphine to make me comfortable because he obviously saw the pain I was in. Let me preface this by sayingI told them I was a former addict off the bat and was very forthright about what I've been through. I understand their discretion about prescribing any kind of narcotic because of what kind of position that puts the doctors in, but to have somebody suffer because the doctor's personal belief and stigma is not something I am okay with. The problem started when I was admitted for my infection to the 8th floor. I could not move or walk by myself. I did not sleep for 2 days the only thing I was given was Tylenol that's it.I screamed I writhed I pleaded I begged and the doctor did not hear any of it. I finally signed myself out AMA, got back to my place smoked some marijuana, took some Aleve and felt a whole lot bette. I was not looking to get high! I was honest and told them right off the bat about my past, I was not looking for any of that but to feel comfortable and to feel better I was extremely neglected and will never ever go back to this hospital. It's such a shame that because of the past I would have to suffer in that way.

The staff has for the most part been professional, courteous and caring when I have gone there with family illnesses. There is one exception however, Samantha in the ER department. I found her to be EXTREMELY RUDE, DISMISSIVE and CONDESCENDING. Thank goodness that one ROTTEN apple does not spoil the basket. I will be submitting a formal complaint.

The security guard in the er is a absolute joke and is so rude. I couldn t hear him asking me a question because he was mumbling and because I answered what ever I thought he said wrong, he yelled at me. ILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS HOSPITAL.
I honestly hope that he has his position taken away. I came in because I thought I was having a miscarriage. So on top of that stress, I have some ignorant idiot not doing his job correctly. Poor excuse of a man. I ll never recommend this hospital to anyone.

My 97 yo dad was admitted to the ER. He has been here 14 days now and all the staff have been very caring and professional. I can't say enough about his care and people taking care of him. 5 stars for sure!!

The staff is rude. The doctors are idiots and nobody listens. When you tell them something they want to get offended and give an attitude. Never wanted to hit a doctor as bad as the ones here

Would not give this place a star but it was the only way to review. This hospital has the worst emergency room staff. They have no idea what patient care is. My mother has SCAD and her last visit she spent 6 hours in the emergency room having a HEART ATTACK before being treated and the staff did not believe her even with a scar on her chest from a previous bypass. I respect doctors and nurses and appreciate what they do, but this ER staff is truly terrible. The ER department needs some changes. Cardiac Intensive Care nurses were amazing!!

Just received a dusturbing letter stating that my breast surgeon Dr Diane Drugas will no longer be with Amita/Presence in New Lenox but to all those women who know her for her compassionate patient care and excellent surgical skills, DONT PANIC. She will be opening a practice in the area very soon.

THIS IS BY FAR THE WORST HOSPITAL EVER! I lived in Chicago and not even those public hospitals were as bad as here. St.Joseph has the patients waiting here in the ER for 8+ hours just to see the doctor. In my case, I was waiting since 3am on February 28th and it was about 10:23 am and I went to the front desk to ask and they said "sorry we had problems with the names on the list." Are you kidding me?! This is a hopspital not the kindergartens bathroom check-out list. On top of the waiting the "rooms" for IVs and weight checks are just split between with curtains no privacy really! The Triage are very unprofessional. Even if the patient is in critical pain, good luck! Because you'll be waiting there for a long time. If I could rate it a 0 I would. Worst service ever!

Took my father to get a physic evaluation. Did not listen to our side of the story. Asked for the doctor to listen what I had to say she said okay I'll be back never came back. Therefore was never treated for his mental state that he was in at home. Came home doing the same crazy things and having the same thoughts. I would not recommend this place at all.

If you want the best health care provider GO TO SILVER CROSS! I learn the hard way had the worst experience at this hospital , I am pregnant the ER receptionist are very rude and unprofessional they curse me out with such bad language yet they let the receptionist get away with this disgusting behavior. If I could live 0 stars I would. I am pregnant I was feeling craps yet the nurse was very unprofessional and rude she had the nerve to ask me why didn't you go to silver cross , I am not a medical professional but I am a business owner, I have a Degree in business administration for clients like us and our money we pay to this hospital workers are the reason why this people have jobs and we pay their bills. Especially the ER front desk ladies and that evil nurse without paying clients like us you be living on the streets. Please train this people customer service . I wanted to get the hell out! This people don't care or take their clients seriously. The reason I went it's because it is closer from where I live. Now I know better I rather drive few minutes longer to New Lennox and get the best service and treatment a human deserves. I am not surprised this place has so much bad reviews from other people I am not the only one. Whatever you do don't go to this hospital trust me if you feel like you are going to die they will let you die.

My mother has been sitting in a wheel chair

My mother has been sitting in a wheel chair
for 4 hours waiting for the results of a CT scan after she was brought by ambulance after a fall. I observed them call a patient who was sleeping in a wheelchair, she also shared that she had falling, failed to see if she was the patient and waited until I went to complain about the long wait to then go and ask her name and take her back to triage. I need to find out who is running this mismanaged place!

I went to the ER around 12:30 a.m. Saturday with a blood pressure reading of 177/109. They took my vitals, blood work & urine, and chest xray then sent me back to the waiting room for 4 1/2 hours. I then saw a female Dr. She saw me for approximately ten minutes. I was giving nothing for my bp & she let me go. She told me to double up on my bp meds & see my dr in 2 days. I was also told that they were taking the quick patients first. Should that have not been the other way around? My experience was awful. I could of had a stroke. What is with the wait? Is the hospital that understaffed? I went there on the direction of my dr. So now I'll have to pay a $150 copay, plus my insurance will be billed. For what?? Rediculus!! Waist of my time & money.

Come by ambulance or walk in, they will ignore you...

Come by ambulance or walk in, they will ignore you and lie to your face. They will refuse to look at you if you look middle eastern and walk right past you. I'm not middle eastern, but I'm Hispanic with a large beard so people mistake me as such all the time. I've never experienced anything like racism in my life, but after many hours of begging for anything (even just to call my family) and having no one even look at me (I came by ambulance, I did not know where I was at the time) was more than upsetting. I couldn't breath, and was very dehydrated from the flu and bronchitis. When I did get someone's attention, they would lie about doing anything. Seriously, all I asked was to call my family and after about 12 times of someone saying they would get me a phone over the course of 40+ minutes the last time they gave up and did what I asked after other people became visably concern about the guy with no cloths in a wheel chart begging just to make a phone call brought in by EMT's asked for over half an hour straight.

My mother, who is white, came in after I sat there for over 2 hours got everything she asked for immediately. How is it that I, the patient, can't get so much as a glance, but a family member gets everyones attention immediately???

I have insurance. This had nothing to do with money.

A man with a serious spinal problem got stuck in the restroom for 10+ minutes yelling for help (everyone in the waiting room could hear him) but only after a small mob of people demanded someone check on him did the staff do anything.

Parents with baby's walked out after waiting 8+ hours to try and get help for their newborns. They left in tears.

The 90 year old woman also in a wheelchair was waiting for over 6 hours in a room full of disease right next to me.

My friend, a large African American, waited 12 hours there once as he was having and asthma attack. My friends ended up driving him to another hospital father away where he was seen immediately.

The worst part - I was never even seen. My family and I had to hedge our bets elsewhere.

Make no mistake, this place is deaths waiting room and the staff are his employees.

I've never made anything about race in my life. I've always been welcomed with open arms by all races. I don't know what happened here. But it's the first and only time I'm my 23 years of life that I feel like my race played a roll in my survival. You can tell by the way others look at you that your not welcomed. It was on the faces of other patients too regardless of their race that they didn't like me based on how I looked.

No matter who you are, what you are, where you come from, avoid this hell hole. I wish I could have live streamed the whole thing. Literally any other hospital would have been better.

Absolutely terrible. I was admitted for strep and sepsis. I have a lung condition, not sure what it is yet, but this was my second hospitalization in 2 months. I was brought by ambulance. The ER wasn't bad, and the nurses, most of them, save one glaring problem, were great (hence 2 stars), but after spending 4 days there, I received no plan, no real answers, and no care going forward.

One nurse was a complete disaster.
I was having horrible paroxysmal coughing fits, which made me vomit. During these, it was very hard to breathe, move, anything. One afternoon, I went into an attack in the bathroom. A nurse came in, yelled at me that she "didn't need me hitting the floor", and ordered me to get to bed that minute, like I was an unruly 3 year old. She did not help me to the bed, despite my ongoing attack and her "concern" for me falling, and she did not give me a basin to throw up in. She didn't lift a finger to help me during the severe and prolonged attack, just continued to verbally scold me from the door. She told me she would tell my nurse and left. She did not, in fact, tell my nurse at all. (The heart monitor I had on signalled that I was in trouble, and my nurse came in to check on me after they called her. She had no idea, and it was a good 15 minutes later. I couldn't call because the call button had fallen to the floor during my coughing in the bed. )

I told everyone to keep that nurse away from me, because it wouldn't be good if I saw her again. But sure enough, 2 days later, I get woken up for vitals. She came in with the rolling cart that goes through each room. When she took my temperature, there was No sheath on the thermometer! Bare metal! The floor I was on, I might add, was all flu victims. Because I was half asleep, I didn't realize it when she put it in my mouth, but the metal hit my teeth. I was in shock! I ran to the washroom and rinsed out with mouthwash. Disgusting!

So she comes back in later to give me my meds, and sure enough it's HER! I ordered her out of my room! I looked for a number to call a supervisor. There is none. I have since received NO survey. No followup call. No question about why I refused to accept this nurse. Why? Because she's a menace, and it was no surprise, I'm sure.

Then we have the "doctors" they had assigned to me. They discharged me, having answered none of my questions.

The day I was discharged, I couldn't walk 10 feet without having a 15 minute vomiting cough fit. He stood at the door, told me to go home and back to work in 3 days. I got upset, and said, "I can't go to work like this!" This caused me to take too deep a breath and go into a coughing fit. The doctor LAUGHED AT ME and said, "You're cured!" and left.

I had seen this doctor twice, and he never even examined me. He stood by the door in a gown and mask, both times. But he had declared me cured, and mocked me. It was unbelievable.

The "pulmonologist" who I was hoping could help me with this madness, said I needed tests, but didn't order them. His instructions were to followup with a PCP, back to work in 3 days, as he concurred with the comedian. I'm nice and cured. No help there, as they apparently quack together.

I could go on, but here is the bottom line. I have since gotten a real medical team at Rush. I have acute pneumonia (diagnosed from the tests I had at this hospital) and underlying disease. I have undergone further testing that shows a serious issue. It is unconscionable that I was released with no further care and mocked. Unconscionable.

I was dismissed, in more ways than one, and given no care plan. No regard for my health or welfare existed.

The medical care I received here was absolutely abysmal. They are in this for your insurance dollars only.
Go elsewhere if you can.

I truly enjoy going to this hospital, as all the employees are nice, courteous and professional.
I was here on the 16th, of this month, to undergo a dexa scan, eeg and blood tests. All the medical staff that took care of me, were 100% professional.
I would recommend this facility to others.
The doctor requesting these tests is Dr. Surendra Gulati, my current neurologist, he too is 100% professional and courteous towards me.

I went to St. Joseph's in December after a complication from earlier surgery (also done there). I almost died that night, and everyone, EVERYONE, from the check-in desk to my surgeon, were the utmost professionals -- kind and exceptionally caring. I spent a total of 47 days in the hospital, and I got to know the entire nursing department in surgical recovery.
I had a number of emergency room visits connected with this emergency, and I did have to wait a couple of times, because there were other emergencies. Which happens in life.
