Horrible hospital. I was brought in by balance in terrible pain and was told they were too swamped. They had me lay in the waiting room for over an hour - gave me a shot and said I would be better off going to another hospital for help. My husband and son then took me somewhere else where I was diagnosed with a slipped disc that required surgery.

Been sitting here for 3 hours now. Vacant ER when I got here. Mostly locals with no insurance using the ER to get pain meds or their sniffles checked. Professional embarrassment.
I have always been pleased with the thoughtful staff and quality of care that I've received at St. Joseph. Some times you have a wait in the ER for non life threatening emergencies. That seems to be par for the course at most ERs, though.
ER wait time are notoriously long with delays getting through Triage, then additional delays simply getting into the ER to be seen. Have experienced multiple hours on a gurney waiting in the hall as all ER rooms were either full or yet to be cleaned. Although all our physicians are through this hospital, we regularly debate if we could "get by" through going to another hospital ER (Edwards, etc.) even though all records are not available that way.
I am 3 months high risk pregnant and another female attacked me in the hallway and I had to ask for security to be called. The security was rude and unprofessional. They refused to LISTEN and was very argumentative. Very upsetting
Many rude staff members! Medical staff doesn't consult enough with both patient and their and their family. Security in this hospital is pathetic. This place has a nice gift shop and sandwich place but the care you get is atrocious at times!
Took my wife in while pregnant. There was blood on the floor in our room, told three nurses my wife was pregnant, and the doctor came in and was astounded to learn my wife was pregnant.
Evelia Lopez a nurse for room 406 Day shift was so ignorant and rud to myself and to the poor COVIT19 patient. Insulting us for nott being able to pick her up today.
So... I brought my son here, he is an adult, he was having a pain in his chest, I will NEVER go back to this hospital. No compassion whatsoever. Staff cold and just has a feeling that they just don t care. People who go to the ER are scared they don t deserve to be ignored or treated with no compassion when you try to talk to them they were just cut you off and ask questions about I need your ID I need this I need that they did not care what you had to say . After they listen to my son s heart lungs and blood pressure everything was fine there and the pain was going away we decided to leave because we were not comfortable at this facility. I am sad For anyone who has to go here because the level of compassion is zero.
The operator is rude, the second a room number comes out your mouth they transfer you instead of letting you complete the sentence. Not very nice customer service. I doubt this will be acknowledged but I sincerely hope the operator staff gets talked to about manners to customers whether they are staff from ambulance services, patients, or family of patients and anyone else that goes through them first.
I really wish I could give 0 stars. This place is terrible. If you are in urgent need of care avoid this ER at all costs, not sure how they are even classified as an ER when they don t help people at all in a timely manner. Would not be surprised if many lives were lost here due to negligence. Been in tremendous amounts of pain so I come in at noon get tests done around 2pm. They placed me in a waiting room and have not updated me at all. People who came in hours after me and had no pain got seen before me even though they claim the most urgent patients will be seen first that is not the case. I had to go out of my way to find someone in the hall numerous times because they just ignore the red pull for help string. They let it beep for 30 minutes and then after I went and found somebody had the nerve to come in and ask if I needed anything. Then a nurse comes in around 8:40Pm to inform us that we will be moved to another waiting room.... again we ve been here since noon and test results do not take that long as I know from personal experience in health care. They are inconsiderate and very unprofessional I see why they have such low ratings.
Went back after 20 years hoping it was better and it's even worse. While waiting in the ER with my 5 year old who was bleeding from the head after a fall, an off duty JPD officer came in with her pre-teen child who had a much more minor injury than my daughter and they called her first. I come from a family of a retired policeman and I understand the relationship between hospital staff and police officers, however it should NOT apply in the ER where you take patients by level of urgency. My daughter was in a lot of pain and bleeding significantly. I was appalled and told my nurse so. She couldn't have cared less and acted like they were doing us a favor by helping my daughter. The attending physician did such a poor job on the staples, they hurt my daughter more coming out than going in. Her Pediatrician said one staple in particular was so poorly done it took him and his nurse just to get it out. It was the worst experience I've ever had with a supposed medical care provider and I refuse to pay for such ridiculous service. You have what my insurance paid and that's all your getting...ever. I, nor anyone in my care, will ever return to this hospital.
Seemed like a typically ER experience. The staff was nice and polite, the wait was long but it always feels forever when you or someone you love is not well. Once we got a room the nurses and aids were willing to assist so I have no complaints with the staffing upstairs. It wouldn't be my first choice for ER but I would go back if I needed to be admitted.
BEWARE!!!!!!!! DO NOT COME HERE!!!!!!!! I had chest pains and didn t get seen for over an hour!!!!! They then got me to the room I was seen by the Dr. did my lab test. And they told me to go back to the waiting room because they didn t have enough beds. The receptionist is ghetto. The nurse misdiagnosed me 3 times. If you want to die come here!!! AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!!
I came to the emergency room 4 years ago and will never step foot here again ! First of all the nurse who took my vitals complained the entire time about how she hates working the emergency room. Then The doctor who I seen informed me that I was able to call the next day for test results . When I called the next day a different doctor told me "you have to come in because I am not going to loose my job over you and your laziness" I was so pissed off I didn't even care about the results I went to Edward in Naperville and got my results within the same day. I loath this hospital ! If you care the slightest about your health and life DO NOT come here they do not care
I ve been an inpatient twice in the past two years and have gone through the emergency room four times. When I went to the emergency room, I was told where the line was but I explained my previous medical history and was taken in immediately or within ten minutes. I have always been treated well by the nurses and staff. I have visited the medical records department twice and they were amazing. I ve been through cardiac rehab and that staff were supportive and amazingly kind. I ve gone through imaging multiple times and they have been efficient and explained everything well. The phlebotomists were top notch as I am a very hard stick but I d never know it with them. My only problem is with billing. After a stay in January 2018, I paid my bill in its entirety in April 2018 at a 10% discount. Now, in October 2019, I have a bill for that discounted 10%. Also, my previously in network insurance company that I ve used multiple times before is out of network. I know they usually run insurance to make sure it s valid but no one ever notified me of the change. I get that it s my responsibility to check beforehand but a hospital not having a contract with Aetna? Which was valid last year? I don t get it. I ve appealed to my insurance company, but besides health being the first priority, paying for it is the second priority.
I would not take my dog there, they misdiagnose illnesses to the point now there is no hope of recovery. They also treat people with no money or state aid Terrible. They have no compassion even though they are Catholic run and all there advertising states there compassionate about what they do, I beg to differ.
Worst experience ever in a hospital I came in because I was vomiting blood and I was woke up and immediately put out in less than 24hrs I'm not from the area so it was really an emergency and embarrassing but the hospital was stereo typing me and made me feel very uncomfortable and worst of all is I left hospital and didn't make it home before my driver had to pull over because I was still vomiting. I would die before i go back there seriously.
The problem is they are way, way understaffed. They tell me they are not making enough money so the company has cut staff. I see that it is a Catch 22...cutting staff makes for poor patient care and staff that does not care because they are over worked and under paid. But more staff means the company may not be able to keep the doors open. However, how do other hospitals that give excellent care do it? Maybe other hospitals have more patients with good insurance and/or pay. Maybe St. Joseph has too many who don't pay. Just saying.
This place should be investigated. I'm gonna call the hospital review board an have them look into to this place. Surprised they haven't already. First calling channel 7's I- team. I haven't ever been here, but the reviews are appalling!!! Calling congressman as well.
Poor poor poor CEO probably home on this nite enjoying his dinner and family Should be here seeing how poor his hospital is Poor workers working there tails off and we still waiting 4 hours later Believe it or not riverside in kkk is worse All money not patient care
Really poor customer service. I called in to update insurance information and was transferred literally 7 times. I only needed a fax number. Staff accountability is extremely poor.
If you want quality care from well trained and professional staff and physicians, Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove is amazing! Edwards and Rush as well.
St. Joe's ER staff is absolutely horrible! The nurses have no bedside manner, are critical of the patients while standing at the desk, and they do not communicate with the doctor and patients properly. The only thing worse than the nursing staff are the ER doctors. They rush through to see patients and order tests, labs, etc without explaining those to the patients. Worst of all is the ER waiting room! In no way is it acceptable to wait over 8 hours to be taken care of by their inadequate staff.
just left this place, the staff is very incomptient. They could not even direct me to where i needed to go, and i went through 3 separate waiting rooms to not even see a singlr doctor. Now i am leaving because this is absolutely ridiculous and i will never come here again. Save your time and go to Edwards in naperville
I delivered my daughter here last year in August. I was turned off by the bad reviews and planned to go to Silver Cross. But in an unexpected turn of events I got up in the middle of the the night and my contractions were so close I had to get to a hospital closer to home, I went to Saint Joe s. Let me tell you from beginning to end I was treated so well!!! It was a very good experience for me. So I had to come back and leave a review in hopes that someone else just like I did will not judge on the so many bad reviews, because there are not enough good ones.
I'm only posting 5 stars for the nurse. Nurse Michelle Klemchuk was beyond amazing. She was empathetic and kind and efficient. She pushed us through as we had been waiting for hours the night before. Usually my wait is at least 3 hours, but this nurse made it suck a lot less. If I could just take her everywhere with me, I would.
The ER is a disaster. Will be following up with an immediate letter to the Magnet committee prior to their deadline explaining IN DETAIL how and why this place FAILS!!
The billing department is terrible! I have requested several times for a invoice. They say they can not email it. They can only send it via regular mail. 6 weeks later and several phone calls later... still no invoice. Terrible service. I will say the medical staff is great. It's the billing that really needs help.
If this place was not a few blocks from my home,I would not come here..Extremely long wait times, and when they do see you,you are made to wait in a second waiting room with a ton of people with the flu..Everyone is doing nothing but talking about their personal lives, while people sit and wait, and wait, and wait, and wait! And then when you ask them a question, you are looked at like you are the problem for asking a question! Highly suggest going to Silver Cross or somewhere else!_
Came in bleeding while I was pregnant (i'm categorized as having a very high risk pregnancy) we say in the ER for over for hours before we left and went to Silver Cross! This used to be the best hospital in Joliet... now it's the worse. Go to New Lenox if possible!
I had to call 911 to take my husband to ER. The staff were very attentive and provided him excellent care. He was later admitted. I do not know how care is on the floor yet.
The ER doctor told my sister to Google home care for an arthritis flare up, and the side effects of her newly prescribed medication. If she wanted to use Google as a means of treatment information, she would not have gone to the emergency room. Unbelievable. Is that what youre learning in medical school? Tell your patients to Google it? This is not the first time a family member or I had an unprofessional or overall poor experience here. Do not go here. Drive the extra 15 minutes to Silver Cross or 30 to Riverside in Kankakee. Even if you're hanging on by a thread.
Terrible hospital, Jeni day (young idiot that looks like a volture) is a moron and the rest of the staff acts like they don't want you there, when you being there is the whole reason they are over paid in the first place (I work for a huge company, have great insurance and make more than most of these nurses) yet they treat you like scum. 4 hours and still didn't see a doctor, this place is a joke. Doctors are mediocre at best, this is probably the worst hospital in any industrialized county except maybe the hospitals in Detroit. . . don't waist your time, drive to Morris or Silver Cross, you'd even be better off flying to Russia to be seen, you'd get better service and it would take less time.
My very good friend just had major surgery...I was present throughout her time from post-op to her release. I was so frustrated with her treatment from her "nurse" Bianca to her surgeon "Dr. Kou". Unbelievable bed side manner. Not what I expected from St. Joes. What has happened to medical ethics... Oh yeh...insurance companies and greed.
Been there twice one in the ER for a kidney stone and once in outpatient surgery. Staff was always nice and helpful. Kept me informed of everything going on and all my options. Walked into the ER was registerex and started exam and treatments right away as did the person who walked in right before me. And the outpatient nurses and doctors were phenomenal.
Absolutely the worst hospital I've ever been to. It is dirty, trash on the floors and food spilled. We let the staff know that somebody had spilled a thing of applesauce and they ignored it and said somebody would clean it up.. it's been several hours and it still hasn't been cleaned up. I've been waiting for somebody to come see me in the ER for several hours. staff have been gossiping and making fun of other patients.. they are extremely rude and unprofessional. I've spent inpatient time here before and it was just as bad.. I'm not surprised that it's still the same awful place I remember. An elderly woman asked a staff for a warm blanket, after waiting almost half an hour, I went looking for somebody to help the woman.. found the same staff member she asked earlier just texting on her phone. This place is an absolute joke. Nobody seems to know what they are doing, or really just don't care.
I'm reading complaints, so I wanted to give my perspective. The TEAM of Doctors and surgion workd togather to save my life. The Nurses in ICU and regular rooms were very nice and very professional. The Hospital food, for being very nutritional was pretty good. Some meals better then others.
I have had mixed experiences here. Good and bad. I will say it is an emergency room. However educating the Er doctors on pancreatic diseases would be wise.
Trash. Being in the area I ve been here plenty of times and never had a pleasant experience. Today is 6/8/2018 @ 9:50pm and the staff and security in the emergency entrance are being very rude to a mentally disabled patient. Refusing to help her find a way back home so she won t have to walk the streets late at night.
This place is a joke. We left without seeing a doctor after waiting 3 hours. There were people still waiting to see a doctor that had been there 8-12 hours overnight!! The waiting area is dirty and they are way understaffed.
They had my husband waiting in the er for almost 6hrs with 9-10 pain in his chest unable to breath... Wouldn't give him any oxygen. Then the lady at the front desk said their was people that came in with more critical illness than him. So your telling me that my husband unable to breath isn't critical. Do you not need oxygen to live.... But he's not dying right. Stupidest thing I ever heard come out someone's mouth.
The last discharge for my mother was in incomplete lacking necessary prescriptions my mother needed at the rehab center she was being sent to. Also, my mother s primary care doctor, who she has had for many years, is not allow to practice in the hospital since DuPage Medical took over and brings in their in-house doctors. The in-house doctors did not take the time to find out her history of previous hospital stays which is crucial for my mother to receive the proper care. As a result, my mother had complications that ended her up in ICU that could have been prevented if there had been proper and thorough investigations of her past history and hospital stays as well communication between the in-house doctors and my mother s primary care doctor. My mother was released too soon from the hospital to the rehab center, and there was no follow up of xrays of her lungs and bloodwork. As a result, my mother ended up back in the hospital the next day for bloodwork and xrays as well had to stay another two days in the hospital. On the general floor, the nursing care was short staffed where my mother ended up wetting on herself so much that the urine flowed off of the bed onto the floor.
Was in the emergency room for the second time last night in two years. The first time last year I waited 5 hours in the waiting room. I had a severe chest absess that was causing pain and hard to breath. I finally left without being seen.
This time for the same problem I had the same experience. Waited 4 hours. Nurse told me I wasn't a priority. I had chest pain and people with the flu were being seen. The only reason I came here was I couldn't drive further away. It seems they are always slow and understaffed. The nurses don't seem to care about patients. I've seen people in wheel chairs carted out and left to wait. I've seen a elderly woman beg for water and constantly told to be quiet. I won't be returning.
I m lucky to keep my husband with minor ailments alive at St. Joes Hospital. We knew better that to come here.. this is the 4th time they mixed up his chart with another patient.. once they were taking him to get his leg amputated, another time mixed him up with a non diabetic, today mixed him up with some lady ( he s in today for high blood sugars.)Once they sent him home with a collapsed lung.. I really could go on and on. Just this once we thought not such a big deal and we live so close... only go here if your suicidal. Now push emergency button 10 min nobody comes. This sucks!!
The staff was alright, but the emergency room is filthy. There was some kind of brown liquid splashed on the baseboards of one wall. (Room 3) The floors looked like they hadn't been washed in years, and there were cobwebs and blood spatter on the ceiling. My husband needed a urinal and they didn't even have one in the room. The nurse's aide had to take one from another room. This is unacceptable. Frankly, my vet's exam rooms are cleaner.
Long wait to get seen but once we got to see the Dr. everything went smooth. They brought us a puppy stuffed animal for our little guy who had a bad cut on his head. Thank you for saving the day.
I had such a positive experience in labor and delivery all the nurses and techs were so compassionate and worked so hard. One nurse even stayed past her shift to be there to support me in delivering my baby girl.
I was sent to the ER after going into cardiac arrest and when I needed assistance with feeling my chest compress my call light was disregarded three times. Terrible hospital. My room in the ER didn t look clean when I came in either. Garbage cans were full and smelled terrible, bed was disorganized and appeared as if someone was just in it. Prefer being left to die than be given treatment by this hospital. Some nurses may be polite but horribly attended while in ER.
I unfortunately ended up in the ER twice now, one stay they had to monitor my heart and run a bunch of tests, so I was there all day, I was constantly being checked on and made sure I was comfortable. As well as constantly getting an update. Very nice staff.
So My daughter had an accident at school today. She's fine, but she will have to have some stitches by her temple. This all happened at recess at 12 o'clock is when I got the call. The ambulance took her to St Joseph's hospital in Joliet and needless to say, she still hasn't been seenu ta going on 3PM! St Joseph here we come Edwards where we aren't treated like we are on public aid! If I could give it a negative 10 I would!!!!!! The staff is completely rude!! They treat everyone as if they are on public aid! Well, we are NOT!!!! I will be sure to put in my children's school files to never bring them to ST JOSEPH'S HOSPITAL EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My grandma went in for standard nerve surgery on her back because she had some shooting pains. It was supposed to be laparoscopic. The doctor couldn t find it or something so he opened her up without telling anyone or asking anyone. She had 27 staples in her back and THEY SENT HER HOME THE SAME DAY. Finally after phone calls they had a nurse check on her FOUR DAYS LATER. no one in the family knew she had open back surgery. Oh. Also. She s 85 and has a blood clotting disorder. I feel like it s illegal to send patients home after open surgery....
I have never been treated poorly. Staff can sometimes be overwhelmed. Nobody wants to go to the hospital. Everyone thinks they're most important. Chill. These people didn't choose to hurt folks. Try doing what they do!
Sadly they are not as good as they use to be. They will not admit it, but they have too many patients per nurse ratio. My parents have always used them because they're closer to their home. I see a large difference in their care the past few years compared to before they started their lay-offs in 1990's. It's also very sad that they've driven most Physicians out of seeing their own patients in the Hospital. They want patients to use their own hospital staff physicians even though they do not know you as a patient. Not good or fair to the patient.
I would have given it 0 but they have a good gift shop tht takes orders and got it to my sister right away. Being in healthcare since 1990......I would say stay away from this facility. Do they not train nirses and employees in HCAPP SCORES ?
If I could give 0 stars I would this hospital was so rude and disrespectful to my friend who was in a motorcycle accident didn't give him any pain need or water that he requested and left him with a half wrapped for that's was continuing to bless out
I would avoid this hospital at all costs. Too many horror stories to list but they are severe, especially the ER, anything cardiovascular ( Dr. Martini and Midwest Heart) , JOHA hematology (Dr. Abboud). The list is endless. If I would have known it was so horrible I would have chosen somewhere else to live.
I have never had any issues or problems with anyone. I've been going there for about two years. I love the changes, the staff and how everyone is friendly and willing to help you. Great job St. Joseph!
This hospital is awful and just getting worse with the new ownership. You wait for hours in the er and staff is rude. If you get admitted the nurses are typically very nice but you aren't checked on frequently, you have no choice in your meals anymore, was told if you don't like it, sorry you don't eat, wrong meds were almost given, wait forever to see doctors. I feel like I'm in a prison, not a hospital. Heading to Silver Cross next time.
We have been sitting in the ER for over two and a half hours after my husband was in an accident. Haven't seen anyone and no one has checked on him in over an hour and a half. I went out over half an hour ago to ask the people who have been sitting at desk the whole time chatting and laughing and was informed they will get to us. Xrays were two hours ago and still don't know if his hand is broken or not. No one has bothered with the stitches they said he needs. Service has really gone down hill since Presence took over this hospital.
The ER here is a disaster. If it's not a life threatening situation, go to Physicians immediate care on Larkin ave. You'll get much better care than at St. Joe's hospital.
We arrived at the mergency room last night and we got really bad service. Everything was dirty and it took the doctor two and a half hours to arrive, and there were 5 nurses visiting and making jokes with each other while there were only 6 people waiting. Instead of helping their patients, they thought it would be better to chat, which upsets me. I really don't recommend this hospital for any emergency situation!
This was the worse experience ever in the emergency room .I had surgery at the hospital 10 days earlier. I went to the emergency room.with severe abdominal pain and vomitting. It was. Busy so I new there would be a wait but 4 hours later the true agony began . I was very dehydrated I was stuck 7 times for blood by phlebotomist without success then 19 additional sticks by nursing staff without success nurses commenting to me they can get Iv's in herion. Addicts asking me Why my veins were bad. Really even had one nurse attempt to insert an iv in the wrong direction.Dr knight the ER MD was rude to me didn't feel I was sick enough because my CT scan was ok Finally a phlebotomist got some blood. My uric acid was elevated with various other abnormal labs. Then Dr knight said he was going to put a central line in . I waited another 2 hours no central line he came in the room attempted peripheral IV he was able to insert a peripheral. IV in 1/3 of the way in the vein partially said this would have to do until I was better hydrated. They sent me to a room shortly after where the IV infiltrated on the way to the room .the floor nurses attempted iv x2 then finally the surgeon came in an ordered a pic line. The nurse who came to insert the pic line was wonderful.after finally receiving some hydration I started feeling better the floor nurses on the 23 hour unit were nice. I have been a nurse for 32 years there in is no compassion at this hospital .in addition to all of this while in the Emergency room the receptionist was in my room harrassing me for my copay multiple times when I could barely move from being so sick. I have a mission to make as many people I know aware of the horrible care received in your emergency room. Beware before you go there it's worth the drive to avoid this dangerous place
Feeling very sick with symptoms progressing, I came in, was politely checked in, and waited as people who clearly were in more pain were seen. A short while later, I was taken back and met what had to be the friendliest staff of physicians, nurses, xray technician etc. I believe Rita was the name of who I interacted with the most. Her bedside manner was impeccable; professional and friendly, making me feel comfortable and thoroughly informing me about the tests and results, answering questions in my mind before I even had to ask them. I truly never encountered such a well rounded medical professional like her until today. Thank you to everyone here, we know you seldom hear it but we appreciate you.
Had an appointment scheduled for Monday November 5th. I got a call from Central scheduling on Friday November 2nd she informed me that my insurance hasn't approved it yet and I said it takes a while but it will be approved can I still have my appointment because I scheduled work off and I have to waste gas to get there. She told me yes and that I wouldn't have to pay out-of-pocket for it on the day of the test. I get there on November 5th and she looks up my name in the computer and says there is a notification that if you didn't pay out of pocket not to let you have your test. That email that she was looking at was from the same dumbass who lied to me bold face over the phone, on the same day after she called me! So since this Hospital likes to lie to their patients who need test done I will be taking my services elsewhere from now on.
My nephew went in with swollen head injury from falling from his bike. They took 5 hours until they seen him and they didn't even do a cat scan. This is not my first bad experience with this hospital. don't go in on weekends unless in dying need . Even if your dying if you can wait little longer make the extra drive and go to silver cross. The worst hospital ever on weekends. On weekdays not that much better
I have been here since 8pm with my aunt and it is now 130 am still no room or dr. They are rude as hell. Have no idea about nothing. Little kids with fevers and throwing up and they can't even do anything. I have never worked in a hospital and I opened doors, watched someone's kid so she can get an X-ray, cleaned up vomit, gave the kids something to do. Complete and utter chaos! Rudest staff I have ever seen. Never ever will I go there again! I wouldn't even have rated it a star but I had to in order to write this!
I will never recommend this ratchet discriminatory hospital ever. If you are sick don t go. The room before the ER has some of the most ignorant and racist workers ever. 1. The nurse practitioner (blond and short, there is also a tall one she s lovely) is a POS who can t talk to patients nicely. The second is the manager who worked today on February 23 2019. Called to complain and she told me I am wasting her time and she can other patients. I then asked for the NP who treated mes name and she refused, after I asked for her name and she hung up. I will be taking this issue to civil rights group, the president of the hospital and everyone to know what I went through especially coming in with pain level of 8-9. They discriminate against patients with Medicaid and treat them bad because they have free insurance which is not right. If you are going to treat us badly because we have Medicaid just don t accept it at your hospital plain and simple!
My son suffered a spinal cord injury on August 11th. I live out of state and did not arrive until the next day. I met with the surgeon and he went over all the CT and MRI images with me. He explained the surgeries he was going to do. The ICU nurses are absolutely the best. My son's needs were immediately met. My son and his wife were to be married on Sept 1. Under the circumstances they were married in the hospital. His ICU nurses made them a wooden plaque with their last name. They also gave them some wine glasses and a bottle of sparkling grape juice. Now he is out of the ICU awaiting transport to a rehab facility. The nurses on the step down floor are also super. The nurses and doctors are all very human. If I could suggest any improvement it is to make food available 24-7. The Jazzman cafe should be open all weekend, at least until midnight. If you want to leave the hospital to get food you can not re enter the parking garage after 8pm.
Be aware of Dr. Semere. Careless and clueless doctor that will give you the wrong medication which will make your condition worst. Honestly. I am shocked to see doctor like this working at a highly professional institution. He needs to stay away from hospitals, and most definitely ER rooms.
At the emergency room now. Daughter was in a car accident and hit her head. We have been here for 3 1/2 hours waiting! Thak good she is not bleeding! What ever happened to emergency!!! I think next time we will go to Silver or Morris!!!
I was admitted to St. Joes and spent a week there in 2W Room 2006. While there I was pleased with the entire nursing staff and CNA's. So friendly and punctual when I hit the nurse call button. Very respectful to ones needs and rest. Did not have a bad night's sleep while there. Because of unfortunate health reasons, I will be spending more time at St Joes. I am sure the service will be again Grade A.
I wish I could submit 0 stars. An overall rating of 2.2 by 385 reviewers on google is generous! I think it may be skewed higher due to the fact people had to at least put 1.
My 84 yr old mother was taken by ambulance around 130 am on 11/26/20 to St Joe's due to being extremely physically sick and could not stop; she had lost a ton of fluids (Later found out it was caused by a severe kidney infection). The EMT's took her right away so she did not have shoes/socks/or warm clothes, but they put warm blankets on her. I was not allowed to go due to Covid, so the EMT's took my number and said the hospital would give me a call to update me. She arrived between 145-200 am. I called at 330 am as I had not heard anything. They told me she had been seen by a nurse, they had run tests, were considering a CAT scan, but were just waiting for the test results. They said they would call me back once the actual Dr had seen her and the results were back. I stayed up all night and called back at 715 am as I still had not heard anything. They put me on hold and then said they would have to have someone call me back. They never called until 945 and said it was fine to come pick her up-they had no other update.
HERE"s WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED - they let my 84 year old severely dehydrated mother sit in the freezing cold waiting room until after 0500 before she saw anyone and before they ran any tests (So they lied to me when I called at 330 am). She said there wasn't even that many people that came in or in the waiting room while she waited. She was shaking so bad from the cold in the waiting room, she said she couldn't control her hands. She asked for a warm blanket and said she waited almost an hour, while the staff was laughing and joking around before they got her a thin (non-warm) blanket. At one point she was so cold and miserable, she said she wanted to call her son to come pick her up and they told her to 'wait - that she was to be seen next'. It took over an hour before that happened. Even after getting her in to be seen, they never gave her any fluids of any sort. When I arrived to pick her up, there were no patients in the waiting room at all. I waited and she walked out on her own!? I was just shocked ... an 84 yr old woman who was severely dehydrated and you let her walk out on her own? When I asked her why she was walking out on her own, she said the nurse told her 'they didn't have time to walk her out, so go to the end of the hall and follow the signs.'
Words cannot begin to express my absolute disgust with the lack of: care, communication and overall human decency that this facility showed. The Administrator and officers of this hospital should be appalled.
Thank God for the EMT's!! I would hate to fathom what would have happened to my mom if it weren't for their initial care.
I broke my hand on a Monday night at 10 PM. Got there about 11 and around 3 am I left because they hadn't given me any service after I asked about 4 times. They are too relaxed.
This place is bad..The facility is horrible especially the ER Entrance lot accessibility to the inner waiting room and triage rooms. I can almost guarantee they're using recalled APC Surge Protectors in their triage room prone to start fires. The staff is rude with no personable skills. Just don't go there..
Years back I would have given this place a 3 maybe even a 3 1/2 I had taken my son here for breathing issues and dehydration due to Rotavirus and had good care not to long of a wait, and I had come in for some emergency reason it was a 6 hr wait but they checked everything which I appericated, but a few times they couldn't find my paper work and was confused on we're I needed to be and what testing, even the doctor at the end looking at my chart said is this the right chart to a nurse? It was kinda scary I didn't feel very confident if everything was correct with my testing. I did take the medicine the face and the leg infection cleared that I had. The doctor here told me to follow up with my doctor but come and see them if I needed immediate attention of systems worsen exspicly with the medicine they gave me. I got worse systems, so I went back there and it was the worst I have ever seen I got there at 10pm and waited until after 5am I was scared I had a blood clot in my leg and the lady that finally told me it was my turn said I have you down for a rash? She told me next time be admit to say it's leg pain I was like okay well I have to leave so now I'm here at Minookas immediate care hoping for answers and less wait time. I understand when a hospital is busy I believe some are trying there best but a better set up and process should be followed it just seems there has to be a better way a few other hospitals I have been to over the years I have never seen as bad as this place, and to add it is dirtier then most. I don't know what happened to this place I used to think it was a good hospital now I'm not so sure if I would trust going there it seems a person might die just from waiting, or a mistake in paperwork or identity. It's just not very organized.
I always hear and see bad reviews but I think some people just don't like hospitals. I am the same, But, every time that I have had to go for tests/procedures or stay in the hospital, I have always been treated great!! Everyone from the registration desk to the nurses to the doctors have always treated me with respect and care. And yes I gave only 4 stars, because I believe every business can always do better.
I came in Sunday had upper respiratory infection staff was great that day... ummm contagious and work with the public... called back Monday to try and get a dr. Note. Was told by non medical professional that I would not be able to get one for something like that or be excused for work. The lady on the phone was rude to me very unhelpful and hung up without even checking to see. Dont see how fluid on the lung and something that is contagious to not constitute time off work to heal and not turn into pneumonia. You need to teach your staff some personal skills.
I was just there 4 days ago delivering my newborn son, my experience at this hospital was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! The whole staff was so kind all the way down to the cute little cleaning lady! They were on point with keeping up with all of my needs and the babys. Everyone was so friendly with great bedside care! Big shout out to my midwife Stephanie, Dr. Egan, and all of my nurses Danielle, Gina, Tina, Sam, and Rita. If I have forgotten any of the staff that assisted me I apologize!! But you all did a great job and thank you so much for making my stay as comfortable as it was!!
