This business is a scam and they will admit it in court! Do not do business with these people! Not only will they trick you out of your money by doing nothing at all and charge you double for not doing any work!!

I hired Protax to battle my taxes for the 2014/15 tax year. In the contract they require you to sign a two year deal at 35% of the overall savings. In 2014/15 they battled my taxes on a building giving me a savings of roughly 9,000 dollars in which I gladly paid per the contract. With the savings they asked to sign up for the next two years. Worried about signing up for two more years I wrote on the contract I was only signing up for one year 2015/16, which at the time I didn t know I was already signed up for. That year they did nothing to lower the taxes and charge me 35% from the previous years original value, charging me another 3,000 dollars. Feeling stupid I paid them and wrote that they no longer represent me anymore. They then charged me for the next year and now want to charge me for the year after saying that the contract can not be cancelled. I am now paying more than I am saving!!

I beg you stay away!!!

I got a mailer from Protax. They claim to help me save money by requesting the county to reassess my property (given the recent house price dip), and they will take 35% of whatever savings I get.

Spoke to my buyer agent who is also a personal friend. My agent told me that I could fill out the same form as the owner, there is absolutely no reason to engage their service, and it's very much a scam to make money and do no work.

I am filing the reassessment request form now. Took me all of 3 min. The savings should be around $2k, which means Protax wants to take $700 of my savings for literally doing nothing!

Don t do business with this firm! They charge you regardless if there is any reduction from the taxable value.

I've worked for Protax as a contract worker approx. 8 years and appreciate how generous Mike Middleton is with his employees along with contract workers. A majority of the employees have worked at Protax for many years which is a testament to the work environment. The company is well organized, functions at a high level and it's my privilege to work for Protax.

Customer service is remarkable considering the amount of county appeals handled annually. I've recommended Protax services to friends, along with acquaintances, interested in reducing their property taxes and will continue to do so.

I engaged PROTAX LLC for a residence in the Bay Area year after year. They did the legwork for us efficiently and professionally. If they are unsuccessful in obtaining a property tax reduction you don't owe them anything. Homeowners with hectic lives and competing priorities can instead take 10 minutes to engage PROTAX and have the peace of mind that a professional is working on saving them some money if the value of their property declines. Even though "you could do it on your own", some homeowners just don't get around to finding out what exactly they need to do to file their own appeal in their County and it all just takes time.
