Food was great , if you just want the experience and the prices seem to be too high, the philosophe menu is there to help, for me personally it felt like so much more than just a restaurant , the stories it could tell , the people that used to frequent the place made the dining experience even more exciting!

It was the worst service I have ever had in my life. I had to ask the waitress for my plate, he said sorry and brought it from the kitchen. All waitresses were just not paying attention hut they were polite though. We spent 3 hours for 4 plates. It was for sure the worst experience. Place was historically cool though.

I feel that there is discrimination against the Chinese here. Our table came earlier than the other tables around us. As a result, our food came the latest. Everyone ate up. Our food was not served yet, but the snails were still delicious.

Desert profiterolles not terrible, sprouts dry and drowned under the chocolate and ice. Disappointing for a classic.
Beautiful scenery.
Service more than deplorable view the price of the note!
Several stains of wine serving him, nearly spilled my glass several times.
The waiters were dismantling the dining room all evening with a terrible noise as they slid the tables onto the floor.
Snapping of permanent glasses, very unpleasant noises.

A magical place, we walk through the door and watch it go back a century. We dream of elegant dresses, parasols, of the Belle Epoque. The cuisine is traditional and very well executed. It's always a pleasure to go there

We returned to Le Procope in June 2014 and were completely disappointed. Everything was average at best - except the temperature in the restaurant, which was unbearable - one of my fellow diners was seriously considering rubbing his face with ice cubes from his water.

The service, decor, food, and atmosphere was all average - but the price drops this restaurants rating down to a 2 star. You can get a much better meal at the same price somewhere else. It pains me to write that I wouldn't go back.

By the way, our last visit to the restaurant was in June 2000 when I had one of the best meals of my life. To bad internet reviews didn't exist back then.

Food is really good, but big portion, so if you are not from USA, order one person less meal would be great. The French Onion soup is disappointing, very salty like German food. You have one soup, you don't have room for others.

I really wanted to like this place. I went to dinner here with a group of 50. The decor, as expected, was excellent. They were well prepared for us, with excellent service. But the appetizers of some mixed meat chunks sliced like bread were disappointing. Then the steaks we were served were universally panned by my colleagues and myself as being tough as shoe leather.

Even though we were a large party, we called days in advance, and they served us a set menu so there's no excuse for the quality of the meat.

I cannot recommend this institution.

This place is what Paris is all about!

From start to finish this place was perfect, and really made Paris that much more special for us. We even came back on our last night in Paris because we didn't want to leave without having this place one last time.

The interior here is nice and romantic but at the same time very homey and traditional.
The service was superb and our waiter was very nice and made us feel right at home. The owner came out a few times to make sure all the tables were happy, which really added to the great service. We knew very little French and after spending the night before translating the menu, I was happy to learn when we got here the menu had English translations.
Our waiter paired a great wine for our meal and really helped bring it all together.

We ordered the prefix as opposed to a la carte as per some other suggestions we read, the prices here in general were really a bang for your buck considering the quality of service and food this place provides.

-The gazpacho was the best I have ever had, and really took both my gf and I by surprise. Just the right amount of kick and acidity, balanced with just enough spice.
-The Foie Gras was absolute perfection here, melt in your mouth, sweet and savory.
-The pork ribs and rice were both very good.
-The steak with potato was cooked perfectly and the mushroom sauce was mouth watering.
-The caramel rice pudding here is a must
-And as with all places in Paris they give you a treat with your espresso, and here they give you some damn good truffle chocolate on the side.

Really can't say enough about this place, it's a worthwhile stop in Paris, and will be my first next time I am back.

Ate there this afternoon. Servers seemed rude, we're dumb Americans so yeah maybe we except better service. I pointed at exactly what I wanted on the menu as well and the waitresses still brought me the wrong thing. Bad service is fine, I expected that in Europe, I know it's not what we Americans are used to, but the food was terrible though.

We walked out of here disappointed and 75.00 poorer. I've never eaten such a bland meal, the vegetable in my dish smelled like it had gone bad in a dirty fridge. Overpriced, and overhiped.

After a very appreciated first visit two years ago, I am disappointed with my visit in December.
These three stars do not come to sanction a framework, always as pleasant and unique, nor a cuisine, which remains of very good quality, but to deplore a quality of service below what I can expect from a good Parisian restaurant. Arriving relatively early in the room compared to the other people, we were often served with waiting. Judging by the behavior of the waiter, our quality of young adults did not suggest a final grade sufficient to deserve the same attention as the rest of the guests. It is true that we did not have wine or coffee, but the service must be equal regardless of the customers. The receptionist, after having given us our coats, did not even greet us when we left to be able to take care of an arriving group. A simple "goodbye" would have been enough.
This note (very unusual on my part) marks my disappointment with the service. Don't worry, however, if you are over 30, you have planned not to stick to a main dish / dessert. And, anyway, you will eat well.

Although we do not have a famous name in the arts and literature, such as those who came here since 1686. Also we were inspired by the flair of this house (my photos). There is probably only one western coffee house in Leipzig, which also raises the claim to be the oldest. But the time of the Enlightenment would be without Procope in the 6th Arr. certainly different from Paris!
My photos show the stylish ambience in which we felt very comfortable. The daily lunch with 3 selectable courses was delicious and a crowning finale of our trip to Paris, for an acceptable price under 30 ! Open daily.

My advise to those, who want to visit this place - book a table in advance. We came in person and made it. Staff is very friendly, history is so long that you couldn't hide your emotions inside. Historical menu shows how unhealthy people were consuming food previously, but anyway it's great experience!

As the oldest coffeehouse in Paris, this place is "steeped" in history. I wish it was more accessible, but it's so popular, you need to make a reservation. Takeaway coffee is only available for a couple hours a day.

Le procope is one of the most historic restaurants in Paris. After visiting, I understand why Voltaire ate there! Great bites and service in a richly historic atmosphere.

Tip: go for lunch to take advantage of a three course deal

Nothing to say about the store, the dishes are very good (even if I haven't tasted everything yet), real and homemade I think with good food, the staff is more than top and Very good address on Cucharmoy for to eat and drink shots !! store is a friendly place and we are always well received by the team of pleasant waiters with little thoughtful words. I recommend with a 10/10! We are doing quite well on the bill, the prices are reasonable for Chauvry.

As a first time visitor to the city of lights my friend and I were so excited to dine at Le Procope, one of the city s oldest restaurants. Making a reservation was easy although we had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated. The hostess was very lovely and kind and ushered us to our table upstairs. Downside, you are basically eating less than an inch from other diners, it was awkward but we chalked it up to the Parisian style and looked over the menu. Squished between two French couples on either side of us, who were not pleased that Americans were between them.. we tried to seem friendly, talked quietly and offered smiles. Didn t help. Our waiter was even less pleased to be serving us. We asked for tap water, he gave us bottled to make sure to charge us more. To get the water it took over 20 minutes, meanwhile the other two couples were being served and yet we all sat down at the same time. Parched and feeling uncomfortable, we were regretting our choice of Le Procope. Finally we got our water and wine that we ordered. Meanwhile we were being stared at by the other patrons for ordering the ever basic French onion soup. Sorry but it s delicious and we are not ashamed! I will not be French onion soup shamed while in France! Back to the dinner- soup was great, entrees were delicious but the tight tables, pompous patrons and the waiter who literally will ignore Americans is what warrants this two star rating. Wanted to love it, the experience made us have to write this review to warn others to stay away from Le Procope.

Very average. Had the Hangar steak and chips. The chips were reasonable. My wife had the risotto special. There was nothing special about the risotto, however the fish with it was fresh and tasty. We had a carafe of pretty ordinary merlot. If this is a good restaurant, I would hate to go to an ordinary one.
Three stars is generous. Avoid this place.

Reading someone saying staff was rude to English speaking was concerning, however I found host very welcoming and wait staff pleasant. They have nice fixed menu option with starter, dish and desert. My soup was unique, it wasn't the best French onion soup was for sure never had it this way so yes unique. Main dish was very nice steak with a light sauce and fresh herb, which gave a very refined taste. Desert are to die for but then again I love them. All in all, a very historic restaurant, heard a story that Neapolitan dined here. Friendly English speaking staff, great food and mid price range. Enjoy

The Procope is one of the oldest restaurants in Paris. A historic site of the French Revolution! The cuisine is not so French: gaspacho, ceviche, Milanese schnitzel ... It's a pity but it's rather successful. It's still expensive, we pay the place!

Fantastic evening, very beautiful atmosphere and great food. The server was very friendly and helpful even with my limited French.

The fish with risotto was absolutely amazing and well worth the visit alone. It's situated in a great part of the Latin quarter (or Saint Germaine, I couldn't tell which neighborhood). Very nice spot.
