I waited a few weeks to visit to let them get in the groove. The ambiance is great with the upstairs, outside street seats and downstairs dining. There is two bars with the smaller upstairs. You can take stairs or an elevator between floors. The food was in the middle as expected. The shrimp and grits had decent shrimp and too thick grits. Crab cakes were decent. Smaller as shown in pics. The Cajun gnocchi was good if the edamame type beans were not raw and mixed in. I ended up using a fork to pull them out. Seating was mostly downstairs. Now, the bar upstairs is nicely designed but missed a huge issue. There is no extended bar top. You have to sit sidways. There brick facia on it makes it I possible to sit forward with comfort. We watched everyone sit sidways to avoid it. The drinks and were well crafted.
The waitress was excellent and we arrive early. There was way too much staff standing around and on phones. If they must be there hide out.
Overall we will try once more and see.

Good food and Great Drinks..the waitstaff is attentive and friendly. I cant wait to go back.

The atmosphere is nice and quaint. The Salmon dinner is scrumptious.

Gotta give them a big thanks they cater to everyone I sat there with my baby and my server made sure I was good the entire time and the to go food is great

Went for dinner with friends last weekend. Things started out well. Drinks were yummy and our appetizers came out fairly quickly. The lobster fries were great however the crab cakes seemed to be a mixture of real and imitation crab meat, which wasn't made clear on the menu. I think we waited over 45 minutes for our entrees to come out. I had the mahi and it was unseasoned and bland. My friend was upcharged for changing 2 sides to one side, but wasnt made aware this would happen until we got the bill. There's definitely room for improvement with training and I'm hopeful it will happen because this place has so much potential.

First time at this establishment was on October 25. All I can say is I have never been to restaurant where I didn t touch a salt shaker. I had the Ribeye and my husband the tempura lobster. The presentation and taste was perfect. The staff was friendly and on point!

We ordered at 6 was told 30 min didn t get our food til 8. One food had hair in it and the other entrees all tasted different even though they were all the same stuff. It was expensive for no reason at all. Would never order from here again!

This was my first outing after quarantine and I made the great decision! Everything was neat and clean. Limited seating due to social distancing. Hand sanitizer on the table for you. Servers wore mask and gloves at all times! The food, drinks and atmosphere was exactly what we needed! Great Restaurant that I will be revisiting soon!!

Came in for happy hour for the 3rd time and our server Mya was the best. She was so attentive and made sure we were taken care of.

The place is lovely food is off the chain but service is horrible. Waited for 2.5hrs for a salad with no cranberries and never got it. Asked and was tild it was on way. I left. Manager said she would come back and update us she never showed. Owner sat in corner. Never refilled water. Same since food was good and had awesome presentation.

Service was horrible. Asked for my steak to be well done. It was rare. Husband rice was done completely done. Waiter just kept coming standing over olis without saying anything

Visited this restaurant for happy hour and dinner with friends and coworkers. Atmosphere was amazing! I had the shrimp and grits and it was delicious. I also had the sangria to drink and it was very good. I ll definitely be back! Customer service was great and the owner was very friendly.

The waitress was great, but the message sent from the cook was disappointing. Ownership or management fails to check on patrons to ensure they're receiving good service. The food was good, but the service could be much better.

Came in for brunch, great lunch atmosphere, intimate yet spacious. Food was better than expected, service was not; waitress could have been new to the industry, but could use some different service tactics. I will however still be back.

Wonderful place!! Great for first dates. The music, friendly service and delicious food all make for an overall top notch experience.

Poor service it took almost an hour to get one drink. It slows the spending down I normally would have had 2. The vegatables were frozen. For those prices I expect a chef to prepare fresh. First and last visit

I had been wanting to go to Prime 55, but was always too busy. I made time to go today. The Food: EXCELLENT, The Drinks: Very Good! The Service and Staff: EXCELLENT. Very warm, friendly, welcoming, without doing too much. Service was honest and heartfelt. Great food recommendations. Music was a nice, jazzy, mix that went along great with the warm vibe. This is an awesome place to enjoy a great meal! Prime 55 is definitely a vibe! Go and see for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

My experience today was great. Myself and brothers were treated with awesome service and the outside seating was great. Our food was hot and good. Our waitress was excellent. Will return soon. Nice spot for a date night.

I ve tried this place twice and both times were a bust. The most recent time I went they said no walk-ins. What kind of restaurant doesn t allow walk-ins? If you can t accommodate more than 20 people at a time then you obviously need a bigger space. They re slow as hell no matter what time of day and the customer service is lacking. I really wanted to support this place but I probably won t be back.

Thank God for Lee's Chicken.... The restaurant has an excellent environment, unfortunately the food doesn't match. I ordered the lobster bruschetta *insert sad / disappointed face emoji*, completely horrid! Literally a grotesque amount of nacho cheese with a half centimeter of lobster and a butt load of broccoli. Disappointed doesn't convey the magnitude of my experience. The crab cakes were frozen prior to being cooked and the wings were completely fatty and not worth the price. I was so upset at this experience. After leaving I stopped by Lee's for something to eat.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Crab Cakes. Superior and the best that I have ever had.

Nice ambiance good service but the food was not worth the price... my and my 3 kids (12,15,19) went there for 314day to support our city and black business and we all order the rib-eye steak which by the way is not on the menus obviously bc it s overpriced. Ordered habanero honey chicken wing appetizer which was fantastic and our meal came out shortly after.. the steaks were thin and the portions were kinda small... my 12 year old son was able to eat the whole meal... bill came and said $214... really for what? So I asked the waiter how much for the steak dinners and she says $48... I told her it was not worth that much that the steaks alone were only $6-$8 steaks and mashed potatoes and mixed veggies couldn t possibly make up the remaining balance on a $48 plate... she gave me $30 off my order and that s the one if the reasons I gave them 2 stars... I support black business but not if they are tryna get over... even saw the owner and he didn t even ask how our meal was... smh

Love the Atmosphere and Chef Wayne along with the staff are Absolutely Awesome.

The ambience and location are a great setting to the great food & drinks. Their eager to please staff is set to be their calling card. There's a Grown n' Sexy Hustle vibe in the atmosphere here.

Prime 55 was nice. The atmosphere was cool. The food was good. Their prices were a bit pricy but overall it was a great first time experience.

No thanks! We tried to go for my birthday. We called and asked did we need a reservation they said no a week prior. We get there and the first thing the hostess asked, " Do you have a reservation" like really!!! The manager came out texting on her phone the whole time we were talking to her. HORRIBLE customer service!!! No need for me to go back and spend my money. The inside looked like a mangled mess anyway. TRASH!

We enjoyed our experience at this cute, quaint Black-owned business in the heart of the loop. The music was smooth, hip and soulful. Customer service was good, the veggie alfredo with chicken and stuff salmon was lickety- licious.

The salmon was little fishy, I squeezed lemon on it and it killed it. My server Marquis was professional and customized my drink because I was undecisive. They also adhered to COVID safety measures

Food and drinks were perfect great location and the staff was AWESOME. 5 stars

I was disappointed with the service and food, it took about an hour or more to get my food and when I received it my vegetable was cold and the salmon was dry. The food is bland and the corn on the cob is not worth $8 it was so small. I would not recommend Prime 55 to my friends

This place is a Gem!! The space was nice, service was attentive, food was prompt no long wait. This space is also available for rent with catering! I tried the wood smoked grilled chicken w/cheese & fries! This was definitely delicious!! I even tried the pasta & sampled the chicken (I don't eat chicken on the bone) it had a sweet chilli flavor is was good!! Next time I will try the tortilla soup! Maybe I'll see you there!! I will patronize Prime55 again!!

Me and my friend had been waiting for weeks to try a brunch when we both where off work. We chose this place simply bc it was black owned (support). The atmosphere could be amazing BUT the service was horrible seemed like the family of these owners where in there with their lil kids running around and kept bumping my friends chair... our glass were very dirty and were sent back twice. The presentation of the food was ok. I order the stuffed French toast but I got toast instead. My friend made reservations for Valentine's Day and said she was going to cancel. This place has so much potential but...

I think that Prime 55 is the best restaurant in St. Louis by far!!! The food is phenomenal!!!

Today was one of the rare days in July where the humidity is low and the temperature mild, so I elected to dine outside. I was the only patron sitting outside, but never felt that I was inconveniencing the staff members who had to walk all the way outside just to serve one person. The highly considerate staff took the initiative to light their outdoor mosquito repelling torches (thanks y'all). The only reason I didn't give the restaurant 5 stars is because they don't serve brewed tea or cider :-(

Sooo... when I say I LOVED my experience here, I m not exaggerating. It felt so exclusive and upscale. The servers were friendly and my girlfriends and I had an amazing time celebrating birthdays and promotions! We ll definitely be back!

I had high hopes for this restaurant but my experience was terrible. I made a reservation for a party of 8, once we arrived they sat us a 4 low top and said they d pull a table up (leaving a large gap between the party). Then they re-seated us a high top that sat 8 so we are comfortable. We ordered drinks and they came at different times, which we understand. Then we ordered our food at 7:43 PM... around 9 o clock our waiter came and asked the table oh, you haven t gotten your entrees? . They bring out our food at different times leaving half the party to watch others eat. The vegan entree was in fact not vegan. My gnocchi dish did not have any gnocchi in it. They took my meal off my ticket and offered me shots. But that doesn t change the poor experience I had. They have the potential but I believe more training is required or they aren t accustomed to large parties with dietary restrictions. Hoping they improve!

Bring your deep pockets but its worth it.. Pricey as if you were dining at flemings are ruth chris but without the foo foo service but i liked it better.. The waiter was very attentive my glass didn't go empty, drink suggestions were good.. Food came out as promised and was cooked to perfection.. Nothing had to be corrected .. Ambiance was great, staff and cleanliness.. And the fact that's its black owned and i can compare it to the likes of west county establishments is a plus.. Please go out and support them ill be back you may see me there!!!

I really wanted to like this spot. the place is small but super cute. nicely decorated but the service was kinda whack, it was just the generic "hey, what would u like" and thats it... there were no check ins or anything lol... Our server made our drinks, you can tell she didnt really know the bar and the drink I got (Blueberry Heel Martini) tasted like watered down orange juice. Also when i asked for a drink menu i was presented with a small drink menu with about only about 5 options. If you look on the website you'll see there are far more than 5 cocktail options, not sure why i was given the short menu. For dinner i got the CHAR GRILLED BOURBON STREET RIB EYE WITH BORDELAISE , it was tasty..super fatty but its expected with rib eye. my boyfriend got the STEAK 55 which was supposed to come with white cheddar tots as indicated on the menu, it came with mashed potatoes which would normally be an OK replacement but when you dont like mashed potatoes (he's weird) its frustrating. he didnt want to make a fuss but i asked about it anyway and the server informed us that tots were no longer served - something she should've told us when we ordered....also, it was my bf's birthday and we probably would've gotten dessert... had we been offered a dessert menu lol. overall, i would go back once the place is a little more established and the servers are a little more trained

I think that as a first time goer, it exceeded what I was thinking. The food was great, the service was great and the ambiance was spectacular. My Line Brothers and I came and we had a great time. #BLU PHI!!

Exceptional service, appropriate amount of items on the menu. I had a happy hour/early dinner with old friends and colleagues. Definitely returning and highly advise others to check out this spot!

Had a nice after show dinner with family. Excited to return and have drinks at the bar on the lower level. Feels like a speakeasy.

The food is next level delicious. The chef is a young phenom. Its an independent spot, so be patient and enjoy your company and the ambiance. Highly recommend.

For the price for the brunch of $42 it was not worth it. The table side buffet consisted of small sample side serving. They took forever to bring out the dishes and they were cold. The salmon slider was burnt along with the over cooked turkey sausage links. The chicken wings were over done we re not seasoned at all. Just very underwhelmed with the price I paid. Only one server to 7 tables. False advertisement with the picture they post on their social media regarding the brunch experience.

Not only was the reservation messed up but the food was high end trash!! Steak not seasoned, crab cakes taste like pickle pig feet and the manager was eating white castles!!! The best thing going there are the fries!!! I wish i could give this poor excuse of a place a negative rating!!!

Excellent service, our waiter was very good. The food was very good. My steak was a little overcooked (asked for medium)but was still very good. My wife had the pasta and it was very good also. They ran out of the beer I was drinking but they gave me a substitute on the house. Really enjoyed dinner there. Will certainly go back.

Party was in the basement that really felt like a dark basement. Service was great, room not so much. Food not very good either unfortunately

I didn t get a chance to go here before Covid but was able to go this past weekend once they reopened and it was an amazing experience. Food, service & ambiance was excellent! Will be back soon!

Worst restaurant experience I have ever had bad service bad food waited almost 45 minutes for crab cakes restaurant was not busy and crab cakes were nasty.

I must say as a vegan creative cook and a foodie I was very impressed with their vegan/vegetarian options, of which I ordered the kale soup, veggie gnocchi and grilled cauliflower steaks. They were all very delicious I must say.

I was really excited to try this establishment and happy to support a small black owned business during my quick visit home. First, I was very disappointed in the service and the quality of the food. It took almost 45 minutes for 3 of us to get our drink. I never received water after asking multiple times. I ordered the lamb chops that came with potatoes and veggies. I certainly did not expect to order a $35 meal to be served frozen vegetables that were probably warmed in a microwave, these were definitely not fresh veggies and the other person at the table who ordered the same meal felt pretty much the same way. The lamb lacked flavor and just didn t taste good. The lobster fries taste nothing like lobster. Not sure why it s even called lobster fries. I definitely will not be returning and unfortunately do not recommend.

Prime 55 is just what University City's Delmar Loop needed! The food is great and atmosphere is definitely grown and sexy! Being born and raised in University City allows me to appreciate the diversity within the community as this is what Prime 55 illuminates.

I had a great experience at Prime 55. My first time here was a girls night out and we had some good drinks and great food to go with our great conversation and laughs. They were busy which I was happy to see (since it s a new place) but that didn t affect our service. Our waitress was attentive and made sure we were ok the entire time we were there. I was so impressed with my first time that a few days later I came back to get some take out. It was another great experience for me. The staff was the best. The food was hot and ready when they told me and they were very accommodating so I didn t have to find parking to pick up my food even though they only do valet on the weekend. I will definitely be a regular here. The food and drinks are great, there s great customer service and it has a very smooth atmosphere and diverse crowd. This is something the the U City area needed and I m so glad it s here.

I came in to support and to celebrate my mother's birthday with my family.. We were told that we couldn't order chicken and our party had younger kids with us.. We wanted drinks we were told that they stop making the drink we wanted at a certain time.. not only that we were told that you all ran outta wine.. Bartender was very rude and I felt as if she didn't want to make drinks for our table.. I will take me hat off to the cook...once our food came the display all the way to the flavors were very excellent.. He would be the reason I would come back.. because of the cooking

The service was bad the day I went. We felt rushed with having to order. Good was okay. Mimosas were great. Maybe I will go back another time just to make sure.

We visited Prime 55 on June 27, 2019. The service was excellent and our dinner was fantastic! I had the shrimp and grits, my mother had the salmon and my husband loved his cauliflower steak! Everything should experience this restaurant.

Food was really good. Had the steak, shrimp, asparagus and mash potatoes, steak was made perfect . Ambiance was also very nice. Will be going back

Cozy spot, enjoyable atmosphere, the food is excellent! Executive Chef Tyler is a genius with his craft. I will definitely return to Prime 55.

Excellent food and very chill laid back environment

Food was fire, and the music was a vibe for sure. Customer service was a little delayed but delightful. What I did notice, was on the floor all the workers seemed to get along great and weren t stressed. There was a guy who works there who kept singing... had my babymama forgetting she pregnant for a second lol.

But seriously, everything was pretty great. I didn t freeze to death in there, and the prices were reasonable. I definitely felt welcomed and I will be coming back!

Prime 55 Restaurant & Lounge has a great ambiance, and service was great. I will definitely revisit and take more friends/family. I'm a pescatarian (eat only seafoods, no other means) at this moment, and the menu embraces this lifestyle. I love tasting, cooking, and photographing new and unique foods, with a pleasant presentation.

Superb simply that I had the glazed jerk lamb chops I was wanting to make at home until I heard they have them the lamb was delicious it beats steak to my taste and the glaze was the best I ordered more just to put on my mashed potatoes which were also delicious drinks were strong like I like but good enough to eat with atmosphere and music was on point next time I ll eat outside it s very quiet out there my girlfriend loved her salmon stuffed with shrimp worth the money will be back soon

That wait for our food was 1hr. Food was horrible...They selling $10 Miamigrill ribeye steaks for $35 it was so so thin and then they decorated the plate with chocolate syrup just nasty. DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE!!!

As most of the reviews say the service is slow. That part is 100% true.

My girlfriend and I both ordered Steak 55 medium rare. Her s was raw and mine was medium well. If this is a steak house you should probably get the steak right.

But the lobster fries were great.
