The Abbey, founded in the years between the 11th and 12th centuries, remained until 1304 a dependency of the Abbey of S. Benedetto in Polirone di Mantova. Only with the beginning of the fourteenth century the community of Praglia, consolidated and more firmly rooted in the Paduan environment, became completely autonomous by electing an abbot taken from the ranks of its monks.
Spectacular inside it remains a place to find oneself and to start an interior fireplace. The monks offer guided tours. There is also a small store with the products made by the monks themselves artigialmente. Many spices and natural remedies.

Nice and beautiful place. Do not look for particular artistic beauties, which are not there, but the beauty of the place, millennial and still magical. A visit to the friars' shop is recommended.

You will find feet of the Euganean Hills. Religious tourism in Padua has always been important because of the many faithful and pilgrims who visit the Basilica di Sant'Antonio every year but, in addition to the Antoniani sanctuaries, there are also other beautiful places able to attract tourists who want to find serenity and recollection in pilgrimages of faith or spiritual holidays.
The Abbey of Praglia rises below Monte Lonzina within the territory of the Euganean Hills Park, near Abano Terme within the municipality of Teolo and can be reached by car but it can also be the destination of a nice bike ride. It was founded by the Maltraversio in 1080 for the Benedictine order.
As you enter the walls of the complex you will see before you on the left the staircase that leads to the entrance of the Abbazia Church of Santa Maria Assunta, which became Minor Basilica in 1954 by Pope Pius XII. The Church was built "only" in 1490 when it was added to the monastery after the entire abbey was rebuilt: only the bell tower is in fact originally medieval while all the rest is renaissance with "references" to a Venetian style seen that the Serenissima also dominated these territories.

Beautiful, the guided tour with the monk was very interesting and engaging ... he explained many things involving everyone ... I highly recommend it! At the end of the visit you can also buy their products, from honey to wine, soaps and beauty creams. I advise you to go in summer or spring to see the whole garden ... the adjoining church is really beautiful and evocative.

We joined one of the half-hourly free tours with a monk and it was wonderful. The history, architecture and gardens are beautiful and definitely worth a visit. They make and sell organic products in the shop (wine, jams, honey, cosmetics).

Guided tour inside the monastery well managed by a friar. 30 minutes of immersion in the Benedictine world. We leave confused by the spirituality emanating from the place. The point of sale for various items produced by the friars is well supplied.

Beautiful and well preserved abbey. The monk who paid us the visit, very prepared. Place full of spirituality. Well stocked shop with great products in the abbey. I recommend charging for the entrance fee and not asking for an offer, as most people leave nothing or very little at all. I recommend to everyone who decides to go through these parts to visit it. These places are wonderful, rich in history and very suggestive.

Always wonderful at the foot of the Euganean hills is my absolute favorite place and luckily I live near it. You can easily get there by bike paths from Padua and through the paths that intersect in the park of the hills.

Basilica of the fourteenth century, a very interesting story, well illustrated by Dom Edoardo. 2 guided visits per day are carried out at the Basilica. The visits are free. For those in the area, I recommend going to visit.

I visited the abbey with my children. The explanations on the use of the canteen and prayer halls are interesting. The garden around is very pleasant and can be externally cycling and have a picnic in designated areas.

We were there this afternoon and we spent a pleasant hour both walking around the abbey and participating in the guided tour. The only drawback the group too numerous ... next time we also try the ring trail that starts from the parking lot in front.
