Good food can't go wrong with Italian beef and Chicago dogs

Dipped Italian beef sandwitch is outstanding. Lines move quick even when busy. If you don't want to wait in line, order online for inside pickup -- inside pickup is very fast, no waiting, but drive thru pick has you wait your turn in a very long drive thru line.

Their Italian beef sandwiches are excellent! So are the fries. Really delicious! The draft beer in an iced mug was super good.

Always impressed with Portillo's, not just the food, but the expedition of their product as well as their well trained staff. Well oiled machine!

Meh. Not as good as the suburban locations, and with a limited menu when compared to the same--Rockford got ripped off on this one, sadly.

A favorite part of going to Illinois. I always have two Portillo dogs and a chocolate shake. Usually crowded, but well staffed and fast moving.

I'm not as excited about Portllo's as my family. However the do have things I will eat, oh an BTW their chocolate cake and Eclaire are absolutely scrumptious.

I pulled into the driv-thru line and and ordered $50+ of food. There where only three cars in line, so I reached the pay window rather quickly. A manager stuck his head out the window and asked me to pull forward to the stop sign and my food would be right out. I did and it wasn't........5 minutes later an employee asked me to move my car as i was blocking the driv-thru and she would bring my food shortly. I moved into a parking space and waited.....twenty minutes later i walked back to the window and inquired about my food. It was sitting there waiting for someone to bring it to me, but no one knew who that someone was. I asked about the hold up and the female employee replied that it wasn't her problem and finally handed me my order. This happened around 7 pm on Sunday May 29. Is this the way you want your customers treated ???? Jp

Very over rated. OK food. Noisy. Poor presentation. Also has coke products.

This Portillos is second only to the Forest Park location, which still employs many who were trained by Dick Portillo himself.

Wonderful hot dogs, nice atmosphete, friendly staff

We waited 20 years for this place to come to Rockford and it doesn't disappoint. Always great food and friendly staff. Not a great restaurant for date night and the parking situation can be frustrating. The drive through is between the parking and the front door making it difficult to walk in especially in winter time. Always a good crowd but the wait isn't bad.

Fine location for quality cheap food. went there on a saturday. the bill was average for the menu.

Good food but we placed an order and everyone wanted the same sandwich but all with different toppings. When i asked if the food was marked to tell them apart she said no but i can open them up and mark them. She put gloves on but started touching other things like the mic receipts trays than touched our food so gross.. And than still didn't make any of the order right.. Just unsanitary and annoying asked for a new order and was given an attitude.

Good my only complaint is they dont have 2 hotdogs and fries for like 5.00 like most places in Chicago

SOOOO GOOD, my lil picky eater doesn't like anything! But here she LOVES anything, and everything!

Nothing to brag about, don't understand why this place is so crowded. Italian beef was so so at best, I'll take the original uncle nicks any day over this. Good good dog, if it wasn't for the dog they would have only gotten 2 stars.

Updated review: this place is still killing it. Food is still good and drive though is faster than you'd expect once you see the situation. One thing the Rockford location should remember is to keep all the older employees around the customers. They're always more polite and clean. The younger ones aren't crude or anything, but the older "bus-boys" that were working in there before the pandemic were just nicer overall.

Great food..I can't say it enough! BUT...CHECK YOUR ORDER BEFORE you drive away. On MORE THAN ONE occassion we have left with a partial order. If they offer you a gift card YOU must hold them accountable for its arrival. MUST call more than once for it. Food is WORTH the hassle.

My grandson loves this place. Service is excellent!

I really can't think of a better place to get a quick bite. Never had anything bad here, and everyone I talk to about Portillo's is never disappointed. Great call to come to Rockford.

Even in the colder weather the girls are standing outside taking your orders in the drive up line for quicker pick up

Food was great Italian beef, chopped salad (and if u do not want something on the salad like onions all u have to do is tell them when ordering - made fresh to order. The chocolate cake is always nice to share with dining companion, it is a nice size piece of cake. Don't forget u can take home some Italian beef to have on hand at home too. Starting in a one pound package of beef with a container of yummy juice on the side. The Italian bread is an extra charge. So worth it though. Enjoy!

Very rude. Just dropped my food in the car and kept going. I was the 8th person in line today so it's not like they have been working all day and was exhausted. Food was soggy but hot. Don't know how that happened cause I waited less then 10 minutes. I really hope this changes, ruined my excitement for portillos to finally be near by.

I was very disappointed with the new menu that just came out. They removed the grilled vegetable sandwich.
There are very few plant based options out there.
At portillos, they offered a Grilled veggie sandwich. Without the cheese for me still provided a healthy filling meal.
Their replacement is a mushroom sandwich... Remove the cheese and you just get mushrooms and tomatoes.
My hope is to get more people to reach out if you miss this healthy sandwich. Just maybe they will bring it back. I can't imagine I'm the only plant based eater out there that liked this.

They are sometimes a little slow but the wait is worth it.
