Exquisite tiny restaurant which can take up to 6-7 tables. The two men running it are very friendly and love what they do. I would definitely recommend it

If you ever get the chance to visit Porto: make a reservation at this place! I really recommend taking the tasting menu.

The food, atmosphere and people at this restaurant are amazing and show you everything that s great about Portugal.
Amazing wines, high quality food (the tuna is going to blow your mind - before I went there, I was convinced that I don t like tuna and their dish changed my mind), lovely, passionate open-minded people working there and a cozy atmosphere are what make this place so great.

I can t imagine Porto without Porta 4. During my internship in this city, I went there at least 10 times. Every time someone visited me I made sure to show them this gem. I am actually surprised that I never wrote a review...
Since I visited one year ago, they made some changes to their menu... but it s still really amazing!

They added an amazing dessert - drunk pear with quejo fresco (a special portuguese cream cheese).

Absolutely amazing. I wish I came hungry to enjoy the 1 person menu. The chef was a one man show. He made you feel soo good and cozy. He seemed tired at the end of his night but still helped me find a local store place to find great wine for the next day. The food was amazing. I personally enjoyed the meat and the dessert was so nice. Hands down I would recommend this place. Come hungry to enjoy all the meal.

Love it, just love it. Microscopic in size and usually a line. Lots of other places to eat in Porto if there's too much of a eait but if you can get in or get there early, the small dishes are quite tasty and the wine "list" is basically whatever they have in stock on a shelf that they pour off through the evening. Not too many places quite like this in the rather touristic center.

Perfect from A to Z 40 for a menu for 2 people containing an aperitif board, 2 dishes that can be shared and 2 desserts. The quality of the service and the dishes should be emphasized. We highly recommend

This is our favorite restaurant in Porto. Order the chef menu, 2 people for 30 euros (15 each). Every dish is perfectly paired with wine. Only 5 tables so make early reservations. Always fresh and wonderful. They make your dinner in the tiny kitchen next to you.

WHAT A TREAT! Ive been to Michelin Star restaurants around the world, and sometimes the experience is more about the connection and interest the chef has with his customers as well as the food.. This was one of those cases where we had such a magnificent experience that it just made it so special. The restaurant is a small intimate place where there is no more than 4 or 5 tables . The food is so fresh you can taste it in every dish. The carisma of Ricardo the owner and chef is exceptional and takes you through a culinary journey of Portuguese flavors. The Tuna was incredible, the Cod was so fresh, the wine paring was perfect, but we enjoyed more than anything having a conversation w the chef through out our meal. I dont tend to leave comments , but just felt tonight was a special night. We are very grateful for the experience, and can tell anyone reading this to go, enjoy a delicious meal, in this cozy, non pretentious setting w a chef that loves what he does and you see it when you taste his food. Thank you Ricardo for the marvelous dinner, this made our stay In Porto even more amazing. Till next time.

Very special and great tasting small dishes in such a cozy atmosphere! One dish is to share for 2 people. The deserts are also great - try the panna cotta. Highly recommended!

I had to make a reservation in the evening or not, but it was low season so I just went and waited.
The table is small but it's not bad with a cozy atmosphere
It's 40 euros for 2 people, and the bread and cheese ham from the appetizer were delicious.
The main was made with tuna tadaki and ram
The time to go out was quite long, so I only had dinner for 2 and a half hours.

If you want to recommend wine, choose fresh, sweet, dry, etc. If you like it, you can drink it all the time
The price is different for each wine, but I chose a white wine fresh for 20 euros.

The taste was a bit more than that of any European luxury restaurant. The price is not that high and it is really reasonable.
What impressed me is the service!
The sister who was tied up with a ponytail served, but it was really friendly and recommended wine and dessert ...

The kind of place you hope to find. Off the beaten track, slightly eccentric servings and a cosy atmosphere. Highly recommend going with what the owners suggest, then kick back and enjoy.

One of the best experiences in Oporto. The restaurant is tiny, with just 5-6 tables, and creates a very intimate and warm atmosphere. The treatment is very close and pleasant, and you see how they cook everything since the kitchen is in sight. All the dishes were very good, the only weak thing was the dessert, a chocolate fondant very dry and lacking in intensity, besides the salted caramel was not appreciated. Otherwise great. The price very well for the quality they offer. Highly recommended

We have had a fantastic dinner in this cozy restaurant, with a variety of dishes (tapas), very elaborate, very good attention and service and delicious desserts. The quality / price ratio is very good. With everything included you can have about 15 per person.

Amazing flavours - Really good food and amazingly friendly service by the owner. We followed alle recommendations on food AND wine and had an awesome evening with reasonable prices. Definitely recommended!

I can only think of one word! FANTASTIC!

The menu costs 20 per person. There are starters, main courses and desserts. The starter consists of a board with sausage, ham, 2 types of cheese, olives and fresh bread with olive oil. As a main course you can choose between 2 vegetarian, 2 fish and 2 meat dishes! For dessert we had a choice of 3 desserts!

The two guys behind the counter speak great English and are in a great mood, which fits the shop!

Different wines are offered, which you can also taste before you decide on one!

The only "shortcoming", what makes the shop so cool is that it only has space for 14 people! It is advisable to call and reserve in season and on weekends!

The portions are great and the price is right! For 2 people we paid 47.50 for the menu, wine and water.

Family restaurant with a very warm atmosphere. Very good and typical food of the country. Very cheap.

Intimate, vibrant spot with attentive service and great food at very good prices. The very small dining room made us feel like we were sharing a meal at home... we even made friends after being seated family style at a table with two other diners. Would definitely recommend. Only space for 11 people per service, so go solo or in pairs.

Small romantic place with really friendly service and fantastic food. Also very good value for money. You won't be disappointed!

The owner seems to have changed. Unlike when I saw the reviews, the operation was changed to give course menu of 15 euros per person, not tapas, but the amount was too small and absurd.
It took a long time to wait for food, and I remember three people giving two sheep to one of the parties.
It is no longer a tapas restaurant.

This restaurant was amazing! The food is incredible and the staff are so friendly. The restaurant itself is so small you are dining on the edge of the kitchen and can chat to the chef throughout the whole meal. Every dish was exceptional and the wine was delicious. I would highly recommend coming here if you can get a table!

Super good restaurant with vegetarian option ! Booking is mandatory because they are only 4 tables ! But it s definitely worth it ! For 15 you can have a menu with different meals and wine, it s the best option i think !

We really loved our meal here last night. Full of character, warmth and good food & wine.

Luckily we got a last minute booking for their first sitting as they had to turn away several walkups. This is a pocket handkerchief restaurant, maybe 16 guests tops. But I felt I had more personal space here than I did at Cantinha Avillez the previous night.

The menu, like the room, is concise but with plenty enough variety to keep everyone happy. We chose the chef s menu which was a great way to try a few different dishes and excellent value at 30 for 2 people. Not including wine but that was very reasonable.

Apart from some appetisers we chose the octopus with parsnip puree - my favourite, gnocchi with mozzarella, and slow roasted black pig cheek. All delicious.

The owners split roles - she is the chef and very good at it, and he does front of house and very good at that. We particularly liked the wine recommendations.

Both of them have a lot of fun and share it and their enthusiasm with their guests.

If you enjoy a variation of small plates with delicious dishes and don't mind getting to know the other guests around you this restaurant is a must in Porto! It is rather cozy - reserving beforehand is advised.

Porta 4 consists of a single room for a maximum of 14 guests and also includes the kitchen, which let's you wonder how they are able to create dishes that are on point in timing. And on point they are - delicious and interesting combinations of small plates (which are more akin to small main courses rather than tapas). We where particularly impressed with the codfish on hummus served with mini asparagus. The service is excellent, welcoming and the wine recommendations went very well with the food we ordered. The chefs menu for 2 with appetizers, 3 dishes, desert and wine was below 50 - which was an absolute bargain given the quality of the food and service.

Incredible!! One of the best meals I ve ever had. The octopus was my favorite! We shared three dishes and a dessert between the two of us and it was the perfect amount. The best culinary experience in Porto !!! We had a great time at Porta 4 we enjoyed the friendly atmosphere that emanated from this small typical Portuguese neighborhood restaurant. The dishes were excellent, cooked before your eyes and the smells perfumed the restaurant ... little more the wine is divine the waiter was able to find very good pairings.

Separate place. Very small restaurant. Tasty and simple dishes. Portions are large and dishes are not expensive. Seems especially popular with tourists. Nice experience.

Awesome food, lovely staff, great times! The menu is designed for sharing and the dishes I tried were delicious (photo is of the tuna). The owner is a wine expert so can recommend the perfect wine for you, whether you like sweet / full bodied / level of tannins. Small and intimate with two sittings, I recommend to book but I was lucky enough to walk in at 9:15 and book a table for 9:45.

The first place we ate at in Porto and it was really good. All small plates the tuna and puree were excellent as was the pork. A small restaurant that's worth visiting.

The place is very small and cosy, it is perfect for a lovely dinner with someone special. The waitress and the chef are very nice people, they make you feel like home.
We took the menu for two people. It was composed by 1 plate with salami and cheese, 1 appetiser, 2 main courses and 2 desserts. The food was delicious, I couldn t find one thing that wasn t perfect ( and I m Italian, we are pretty demanding when we talk about food). The menu price was 35eur, just amazing. The wine was good as well. Probably one of the most delicious dinner in my whole life. If you visit Porto you need to eat at Porta 4!

We turned up a little early for the first evening sitting, without a reservation. Luckily there was space for two, and we enjoyed our evening a great deal; memorable setting, intimate, friendly. Tasty food prepared and served with love by knowledgeable chefs/ hosts. The wine was pleasant too. Very affordable for the value of the entire experience.

Probably the smallest restaurant in Porto. 10 places, 15 metres very well organised by 2 guys, that deliver very good meals (prepard just in front of you) and drinks. Definitely worth to try - you must reserve places in advance.

Incredibly charming and delicious restaurant. The food is fantastic, and the selection of 12 dishes is excellent, including some 6 vegetarian options. Each dish is 4 euros and four of them will easily fill 2 people. And save room for dessert, the white brownie is very tasty!

In short, this is the best restaurant we ate at in Porto. There are only 4 tables, so go at 20.00 when they open, or make reservations. It's absolutely worth eating there!

Small flat on the desserts which are below the rest. So if I have one piece of advice, it's better to eat salty than sweet.

It is recommended if you want to relax and enjoy a local meal at a small shop. It is operated by two people and the serving speed is very slow even though there are few tables. I ordered it on the chef's recommendation course, but the tadaaki and other main menus tasted good, but I went in at about 9:30 and finally came out at 11:30 ...

During our culinary food tour 'Taste Porto vintage..' the Restaurant Porta 4 was recommended and it definitely was well worth the walk from our hotel. We made reservations for the 7:30 seating. The restaurant space is tiny and the chef cooks in this amazingly small kitchen that faces the 4 tables (10 person capacity). The organization, speed and manner in which the chef prepares each plate is impressive. It's a Tapas style menu. We were two couples and we each ordered a tapas and shared. A total of 9 tapas were ordered. The tapas were amazing. The presentation and complex flavors of each plate was incredible. The bill was very reasonable and the chef was very friendly. We highly recommend Porta 4
