One of the most unethical places I've seen through out my life.. they have no respect for people who have worked for them and expect them to beg when required to obtain their EPF/ETF payments. Never to recommend somebody to work here.
This branch of the Cargills supermarket is located on the ground floor of the head office in Colombo 1. It would therefore be expected that this branch would serve as an example. Strangely enough, this large space is largely vacant and the small assortment consists almost exclusively of shelf-life. Moreover, there is a strange smell and people are served by rather unmotivated staff.
The cargills bulding is nicely buid. You can use its for your photo shoots but first you need to have permissions.
Not bad., it have good costumes care, bt sometimes haven't customer care..,

Cargills does not accept KIST branded glass bottles (jams, sauss, etc.) for recycling. On inquiry they would mention that the relevant discount is given to the customer at purchase, which may be the case. However most other organisations such as MD. PB & CSS do have the bottle cleaning plants. Simply providing a cash discount does not fulfill the environment obligation! Since of late, they also removed the green bag reuse points scheme, which was anyway comparatively poorer, while the others continue to do better, offering both cash & points incentives.
Dear Uncle/Aunt, I m very interested in KFC food. Whenever I get the chance, I tried to eat KFC. So I m suggesting some new food types. I hope that you will consider these. One of the few department stores to be housed in a building that s protected under the world heritage fund, which is now run by the 4th generation and given birth to the famous Cargills Food City chain of supermarkets with the famous tagline. better to walk alone, not by vehicle.

The corporate office of Cargils group is situated in one of the oldest building in Colombo fort. This building belong to colonial era is being renovated according to original design.
The department store Cargills is today unfortunately only a normal supermarket (and a KFC), the rest is empty and expires. A shame! From the outside but still worth seeing.
Value is for good old look! Inside, lot of abundant space and seems almost desolated except the Cargills food city & KFC where there is a little amount of people.
Cargills (Ceylon) PLC is giangic company in Sri Lanka invloving in many bussiness. It is found by merchant William Mine and David Sime Cargill in 1844 in Fort area Colombo.It house in a historical Cargills building built in year 1902. Impressive building with Baroque gable and moorish red and white striped arch.
Hard to believe that such a historic place can still have a working set of pneumatic mail tubes, as well as an old elevator thats shut down, but well cleaned. There's nothing much in there now except for a small provison shop, but the fact that you can walk into this place that would have been fenced up and under guard on any other country is amazing.
Vry poor managemnt by the authoroties... this is supposed to be their head office or the main branch. Yet thr are not enough staff members and vry few goods available when comparing to other outlets... dissapointed

The main attraction is at the building itself. However, shop is so limited but there is a supermarket available. There is no air condition.
The building has a supermarket and a pharmacy where you can buy the most necessary.
Its an old nostalgic building, reminds me of years gone by, my parents specially my Dad use to bring us here once in a way, we would as kids relish such a visit. It use to be the only department store in that era. Its in pretty sad state now, was told its going to be given on lease to a new Chinese Bank thats opening up in Sri Lanka.Hope they maintain n preserve this old lady who has baught joy and happiness to us as kids!!
Is it that expensive for Cargills to come up with a website with product photos, for your valuable customer? In a planet where everyone is going forward you are stepping backwards and asking the customer to type a grocery list. I am sure you have an IT department. Please make the customer's life easy. You have great products but not a good IT side.

This wonderful heritage building is an icon in Colombo and also in Sri Lanka. When I was young, this was the place my parents took us because it was a large department store. Sadly, that department store has long gone and not many people shop in this part of Colombo because of security and parking restrictions. But the building itself evokes great memories for me.
This is one of the iconic buildings of Colombo which today, is the head quarters for Cargills Ceylon PLC. It's located at the center of Colombo Fort and originally this was the residence of a Dutch military commander of Galle. Subsequently the building is said to have been acquired by Cargills in 1896. Due to the unique and vintage architectural design, it has become a landmark and also a nostalgic monument for most of us.

This is Cargills Ceylon's head Office. One of the historical building in heart of Colombo Capital City. Well Maintained. Originally, It was the residence of Captain Pieter Sluysken, the former Dutch military commander & subsequently occupied by the first British Governor of Ceylon, Sir Frederick North. In 1896, Cargills took over the building.
I m really dessapointed with the operator assiatant. The lady just kept line waited for more than 20 minutes. I have very bad experience with regard to the responsibility of the managers also. It s very pathetic. The young managers in Sri lanka has no sense of ownership and accountability.
When I went in,yesterday, the Security Guard was not available at the baggage counter and I had to keep the bag on the table taking a risk.
Love this place.. So much history and most of it is still preserved
Staff is not customer friendly. They are not helpfull all the time. Selections are limited.
