This is a really fun and interesting museum and it's so cheap! $5 for students and $10 for everyone else. The moving contraptions are so intricate and really fun. The holograms are stunning although I had to squat to see them since I'm pretty tall. The daguerreotypes are an interesting look at 19th century culture and the portraits are very stylistic. It's not something that kids would be interested in but it was a good break from the technological. One unfortunate thing was that many student projects were broken, they would have been very interesting had they not. Overall this museum is certainly worth a look.
Very interesting projects and research done by students and teachers.
One of the must-sees in Boston ... the way I see it. You do not need a guide, in fact the visit is quite interactive. You can do it at your own pace. Excellent experience.
The collection of moving sculptures upstairs was astounding.
The $ 10 dollars are not worth it.
It's not bad, but for $ 10 it's a bit mau.
Excellent place especially if you are interested in Robotics. You can see/ learn about some of Marvin Minsky s work. There is also a Prince Rupert s Drop on display. The technology based art installations are very attractive. It will take around 3 to 4 hours to complete. There is a student discount available but I am not sure if it is based on time and day of visit. The staff are very friendly.
A mesmerizing, mind-boggling, and inspiring museum. It's fascinating, some of the artifacts. Especially the holographic stuff, and the mechanical artifacts with gears. Visitors to the city should definitely not miss this, especially if you're a STEM student, a creative person, or someone who loves mechanical tech.
It was probably my favorite museum we visited in Boston. There was a surprising amount of interesting stuff on the second floor. Don't let that first floor discourage you.
Great place to visit and really interesting to see all the designs
We had a great afternoon here. It doesn't take all that long (we took maybe 1.5 hours) but it was enjoyable. My partner is a scientist and I love art, and it was the perfect intersection of art & science for us. As a student, it was only $5 per ticket - totally worth it. They have a cool little gift shop, too.
One of the best places to bring an out-of-town guest and give them the requisite MIT nerdery dose. Main floor displays are often ho-hum, but the holograph and kinetic sculpture collections on the 2nd floor are worth the trip.
Looks cool from the outside. If you stick your face on the glass you can get a preview of what's inside.
It's always feels good to be in the heart of the high-tech world! Great experience for adults and young kids!
There are some interesting stuff but not very extensive
Innovative displays, a bit of history, worth a visit or two
Great, a great discovery, the kinetic sculptures were incredible. From the good ooco
Lots of interesting things to look at. Technology, art, and neuroscience stuff here.
Amazing museum showcase some of the coolest inventions
The museum is beautiful and interesting. Too bad that there are no explanations in the various languages. Some things are difficult to understand even for those who speak English well. But it's worth it
The previous time I visited this museum was 15 years ago and it does not feel like anything has changed. Come on, people, you are MIT! Any new research done that worth showing?
$15 admission. Small musuem with only a few exhibits. Gifts hop was very poorly designed and so overcrowded that you might as well not even bother. Unless you really love artificial intelligence or holograms skip it.
Doesn't seem like much from the outside or when you walk in but it's actually a really cool place. The majority of exhibits are on the second floor, which hosts an array of scientifically-inspired works with often changing exhibits. MIT students get free tickets for themselves and a guest!
Very impressive. Enjoyed our visit. Excellent exhibits
Enjoy the science of learning, innovative and creativity at MIT museum. A holistic experience for a lifetime.
Fascinating exhibits. Little machine display captivating.
History (yes, now it is necessary!) Of robotics, from life!
Fascinating displays and machinery. Just a pity the Polaroid experience was temporarily closed during my visit.
Too much to see inside. Time-consuming, moving objects that go back to mechanics
An excellent and very interesting museum, while quite small (spent around 3hrs) the exhibits are unique and well worth seeing.
Lots of fun, be sure to stop by. Inexpensive and great for the whole family.
Really interesting, with a large number of exhibits
This is such an instant and educational place to visit. You need to dedicate a day to do the place justice.
Went there as part of a Middle School trip to Cambridge, our kids loved it. Many interesting, interactive displays and very inexpensive.
Some pretty decent exhibits, but not exactly the high tech types I was expecting coming from MIT. Not exactly young kid friendly, was hoping to ignite some science curiosity here for my 6yo but not the case. Somewhat a disappointment.
I was expecting a bigger exhibition from MIT, it was basically just Polaroid pictures which were being presented to the public
Going inside the disrupted and beautiful mind of a genius:
Ok, ok... it is true that it is not what you expect. If you wish to see huge robots able to end up with Terminator and a robitic fauna you will be disappointed.
Instead you will find the lab of a toy maker, small but complicated pieces of art, that make the illusion of robots trying to become human beings, trying to get our obsessions and hobbies, as if someone was able to predict human nature with a couple of behaviours.
I whish such area was a little darkness in order to get the whole sensation, but was for sure an experience I did not expect!
Just because of this room it is worth, the rest of it looks like are there in order to cover space. This is why I do not put the highest qualification.
There are some activities for kids, the ticket costs 10$, but if you are a student it will be 5$.
Cool place. The Polaroid exhibit was not my favorite, but I understand not every exhibit is for everyone.
A pretty cool place to learn about science and MIT's history
Possibly the best science museum in the world ...best for families and children
There were a few cool things here... But, all in all we were very unimpressed. I was expecting so much more from an MIT museum.
Just visit and enjoy the museum. Don't try to buy anything here because they are selling things at very high prices.
Very small and not worth the money. What it has is cool though.
Some interesting things but thought there'd be more variety of exhibits. Staff was very friendly and wanting to share information.
Good Attraction to see the development and research happened in MIT
Many opportunities to learn and experience the wonders of science and technology.
The exhibition is so interesting and interactive! Highly recommended!!!
Small museum but very interesting things. Especially artificial intelligence section was intriguing. You can spend the same amount of time in the gift shop as examining the exhibitions. In fact, the gift shop although small might be as interesting because they have such a good selection.
I like so much the room with engineers creations.
I need to say that I was expecting more, maybe the MIT history like a timeline with contributions, colabs and all thinks that MIT did until this days.
Excellent collections themed on physics, hollography and robotics, but perhaps the most amusing part is the collection of kinetic sculptures.
This was rather dated... They need to invest and display more recent innovations.
Brey interesting museum. It's a small place but with very beautiful exposition about art and technology. The tickets are $10 adult and $5 child/student.
The first floor doesn't offer too many exhibits, but the exhibits there are very cool. I love the second floor especially the kinetic and holographic section. Super awesome.
