Pitmaster Bbq Company Review

I love Pitmaster. I have spent a lot of time in the south and have tried some really good BBQ, and I have to say that Pitmaster is high on my list. They are definitely my favorite in Eastern Idaho. If you want to know what a real legitimate southern BBQ joint looks like, this is it. Of course the food is delicious but it is more than that, they have a laid back, easy going environment. They would rather take their time and get your meal just right instead of mass producing mediocrity. Their sauce is both homemade and delicious. Plus they have paper towels on the tables instead of napkins. That is BBQ. If you want to eat somewhere that never runs out of anything, is quick and lacks flavor, feel free to eat at Dickie's. I will keep eating at Pitmaster.

Sysco onion rings. Jiffy like corn bread, The brisket not that good 1- 10 I give it a 4. Luke warm meat. They get my eh to the meh.

Great, great food, but don't go after about 7:30 p.m. Staff gave us the bums rush to get out so they could close. Wouldn't sell souvineers to customers who wanted them and turned customers away who wanted to order at 8 p.m. But do order Rob's Favorite....brisket with cheese and onion rings! Very, very good. Their Champion Sauce is excellent also.

This is some great BBQ. Definitely the best that I've had in Idaho. The brisket is incredibly tender, and appropriately seasoned. I was surprised how much I liked their Honey Bourbon sauce, I normally just go for the traditional. Their competition sauce loved up to its name. Definitely recommended.

Always friendly, prompt service. The food is very good if a little pricey for fast food. I really like their ribs and roast chicken.

Great service offering prime rib, pasta, seafood, pub eats, a salad bar, and a full drink menu. Environment is good and has a great interior design.

Brisket breakfast burrito was tasty and the staff helpful and nice

Walked in to a bustling welcoming fun environment. Everyone was very friendly and THE FOOD WAS INSANELY GOOD!!!! Best BBQ IN TOWN HANDS DOWN!!!!

That was some amazing pulled pork on sandwich, do very much recommend.

TLDNR: Great BBQ, friendly staff, smaller dining area, ran out of some food, got order wrong but gave extra when fixed.

I'm not from this town, but after reading the reviews it sounded like the best option for some bbq here.

First thought when I pulled up was that it was basically a KFC, but of bbq. When I walked in I realized that's exactly what it is. It's not a full service restaurant with waiting staff or anything, and it has a drive through. I was put off by this, but I wanted some ribs and didn't want to drive somewhere else.

The staff behind the counter was very patient and had no problems with us taking our time looking at the menu. We ordered, took a number and grabbed one of the few tables in the joint.

After about 5 minutes the gal that took our order came and let me know that they had run out of pig candy (caramelized bacon). I was disappointed because she had sold me on it in the first place, and I'm pretty sure I paired extra for it as a side. I had her replace it with the smoked macaroni and cheese (which was really delicious).

I took my boy to the bathroom a few minutes later because we still hasn't gotten any food, and ended up waiting there for 6 minutes because it's a single person bathroom.

When we got back our food was there, but they got my wife's order wrong. I took it back to the staff and they said they would switch it to the correct order without any issues. She had to wait another 5 minutes to get it back, but they did throw in an extra rib for the trouble.

We finally got to start eating, and omg was it freaking delicious. The ribs fell off the bone and had amazing flavor. The corn bread was sweet and moist, the best I've had in a very long time. My wife loved her brisket and ribs as well. The French fries my son got were good when warm, but with how slow kids are they got cold and were not good by the time we had finished our meals.

All and all it was great bbq, but not the greatest experience. The staff was friendly, I just wish the girl at the counter was more informed about the shortage situation in the back and that we could have gotten our food faster.

Sandwiches are solid and the servings are generous, but the meat can be on the dry side.

The wait when you order is soooooo worth it the food is amazing

Really great food! We have eaten here 5 times through this quarantine! Apparently we needed a lot of comfort food. Their ribs are delicious. My personal favorite is their blue cheese burger with the onion rings and let s not forget the corn bread, which is more like cake!

This place was delicious! The bbq was great and the coleslaw and corn bread was awesome! They make their own sauces. Fair amount of food for your money.

Two visits, both locations. Meat and fries cold and no flavor. Better NOW places in eastern Idaho, by far

Great BBQ. The location, however, is a little out of the way and the restroom was a little dirty (TP on the floor). I have eaten here last week and I have to say that I will be going back. Try the mac and cheese. It's fantastic.

This place rocks! Breakfast check. Lunch check. Dinner check. Dessert check. They have it all and it's soooooooooooo good.

Amazing food and great prices. Staff was very friendly. You have to get the corn bread!

Very good but pretty spendy for what I expected. Similar to Dickey's, but Dickey's shut down so....

Ordered take out this evening and long story short, VERY DISAPPOINTED! Customer service was terrible and lady up front seemed to not care about anything. They were out of part of what we Ordered and the options to replace were very limited. No napkins, no condiments, and one tiny salad as a family pack side. Will not eat here again.

Prices are decent, I had ribs and brisket.
Service is great, they act like if they really want your business, meat was soft, no too smoky as to steal the flavor, I try all the sauces my favorites the spicy triple x and the honey bourbon it has a sweet and woody kind of flavor, something different to the norm.
All in all a really good place to eat.
Don't get discouraged if it's a little empty, you will be surprised.

This place is soo good, I've been here a few times and everything is always great. The homestyle fries are amazing.. so Delicious

First visit, and definitely came away impressed. We got the ribs and burnt ends, with the potato skins (with pulled pork), and loved all of it. The portions are huge, and I got an extra rib in my order, which was awesome. The baked beans were delicious and the cornbread was moist and very good. We will definitely return on our next visit to Idaho Falls, and wish they'd open a location in Salt Lake!

Brought the whole family, from 3 years old to 81 years old. We all loved it. Best BBQ in years!!!! Definatly visit again!

As a bbq enthusiast I've been at just about every bbq place i find, the food here is absolutely great, and smoked the way it ought to be. Havent had a thing on the menu I didn't like

Another tasty visit! The food was good as usual despite the busy atmosphere. I definately reccomend the "Rob's Favorite" sandwich. Very good! You can't lose on the side either--both the cornbread and the fries are awesome!

The experience was very good. Service was excellent. The food was good. The fry sauce was interesting. At the same time, it was very good.

A group of coworkers and I went to Pitmaster BBQ today for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised. The building is pretty small however it seemed larger on the inside than when it was The Great Bambino. There was a fairly good sized line in front of us which went quick enough that the wait wasn't too bad. I had a BBQ Rib sandwich because it was the special. The sandwich was good sized and very tasty. I had Coleslaw as a side which was good if maybe a little on the bland side. The food came out fairly quickly and was warm as needed. The sauces are all pretty good with the competition sauce being my favorite... I'm pretty sure I'll go back and get a bottle to take home.

The prices are a little high but the food is probably good enough to justify it if you like BBQ.

Do yourself a favor and try the pork candy. That's all I'm going to say on that. ;)

fantastic food great tasting meat fell right off the bone only problem I had was the cornbread was cold and you get one teaspoon of butter for a 2-inch by 2-inch square piece of cornbread that doesn't work very well.

They were out of brisket and pork when i went but I serendipitously ordered the Pastrami Burger. Can i just say, "WOW"! FANTASTIC BURGER!

Very quality burgers with great smoked flavor. They have some of the best brisket around.

Going downhill. I've been visiting Pitmaster since they opened, and I have to honestly say they are going downhill. When they first opened, Rob ("The Pitmaster"), would personally chat with customers and get feedback, but I haven't seen him in there since I don't know when. Maybe they sold the business??

No doubt the food is great, and I do agree it is the best BBQ in town, but the prices seem to climb while the service and portions are dropping. Just paid about $10 for a chicken salad--kinda hard to find the chicken in it. Wow!

They were a 5 star restaurant, now it is 3. Hopefully it isn't a 1 next time I visit.

The food is great. Brisket is as good as any i've ever had. Can be slow when busy, but if you aren't in a hurry it is worth the wait. Breakfast burritos are delicious and addictive. Just finished one and I'm already looking forward to my next one.

Best pulled pork sandwich ever...tender and variety of sauces. I am told beef os also good. Can't wait to try ribs. Very casual.

Love this place! We come here often. Their burnt ends on Saturday are divine! They take the ends of the brisket and re smoke them. So so so good! Highly recommend!

Brisket is about the best I ve ever had. They really know how to smoke meat. I had pulled pork and ribs as well and it was excellent.

The best barbecue place in idaho falls wouldn't go anywhere else the people are really nice and big enough portion that you almost can't eat it all

Great food, friendly staff, clean, fast, alot of BBQ meat options with some twists added to the originals. Would highly recommend it, specially if you have never ate here before!! Give it the 2 thumbs up!!

Great BBQ but whenever I come here they seem to forget a food item I ordered. I also have to agree with some other reviews, the price goes up and the size portions drop. It's still great BBQ, but the service lacks when they forget my food.

The food is fantastic, but the service is very slow. If they could get the speed figured it out, it would be 5 stars.

Great food! Busy during lunch hour, but worth the wait. If they dump your drink in your lap all you get is a "Sorry about that", wasn't impressed with that part.

The girl at the counter was rude, the coleslaw was dry no dressing, the meat was tough, horrible meal and cost us 37.86 for two of us.

Every time we come here they get our orders wrong or they say we didn t pay for drinks even though it s right on the receipt and half the time we come here they re out of half the meats. Find some better help!

Probably the best BBQ in the area & good price too. Like $9 for a brisket sandwich and their awesome cornbread. Good sauces.

Awesome barbecue!! They have pictures up showing awards they won in Utah at a western competition. The flavor of the brisket is definitely award winning. The service is counter service not table side but the food is worth it. Prices aren't cheap but neither is good barbecue.

The ribs were fall off the bone good. The mac and cheese was tasty but dense and mushy. Cornbread had good flavor but very crumbly. Chicken was dry. Brisket was dry and meat quality was not great- grainy texture not juicy and meaty. BBQ sauces had excellent flavor. Baked beans were to die for! Texture of coleslaw was good but flavor lacking. Pulled pork was good. Would go back but still looking for a favorite BBQ in the area.

By far the best BBQ in the region! I've never had anything that want amazing! Add that in with great, friendly service and it's a win, win!

I have eaten here before, and had it inside and it was great. However this time, not so much. My husband and I called it in. After waiting in the driveway for 20 minutes behind one car. When we got up to the window, it took the kid 15 minutes to come wait on us. Then he gave us drinks with no ice. Which I get some people like but we didn t say that. He had to ask us the name of the order 2 times. When we finally got our food, one order was wrong. Seriously, I feel service is half of what makes a restaurant and this time we did not get that. The food was good but not so good to go.

Almost a year later from my original post, we decided to try pitmaster again tonight. I called to call my order in, was put on hold for 12 minutes. I hadn t even placed my order. The lady put me on hold immediately and I sat there for 12 minutes before hanging up.

Great tasting food! Friendly staff. Pretty good size options. Definitely worth going to!

Ate here for the first time today. Great service, great food. The owner was out in the dining area with the customers, and even helped to spoil our baby. I plan on returning as soon as possible.

The ribs were good, mac and cheese is what the 2 stars are for. The brisket, dear God, dry and cut the wrong direction. Im not sure the lady knew what she was doing. I asked for the fat not to be trimmed as that is where the all the flavor is, really tough meat I threw it away. If this is the best idaho falls has, im gonna be really upset for the foreseeable future. It's better than famous daves, but not by much. And a 2 meat plate, $17 after tax, way too much. A lb of good meat should run around $12, expensive and not good. Oh yeah, don't believe the 5 star reviews, they offer free food if you show you gave them a good review.

All the meat we ate was delicious.. great job....the coleslaw was beyond horrible! And I don't like the mandated tip at the register!!!

The crew at Pitmaster does an amazing job. So many places think all you have to do is throw bbq sauce on something and it s bbq! Not the case here. From the smoke rings to the dry rubs they nail it every time!! Would recommend to anyone!!

We love Pitmaster. The people are very nice and their food is delicious!

I liked all of it except the potato salad, kinda bland. I had the ribs, brisket and pulled pork and a (really) large soda. my spouse had a pastrami burger and fries. Their fries were good! I loved the corn bread and ribs. The sandwich wasn't as pastrami as I wanted but still good.

Awesome food and great atmosphere! They were out of quite a few things, but we did show up 30 mins til close, donuts totally understandable. It just means its good!! They served us quickly and everything was awesome!

Clean and friendly, customer service is great. And the food....very good! With good portion sizes!

Food was excellent! The brisket is hands down some of the best I have had, definitely the best locally that's for sure!
