Quick, simple, no fuss Vietnamese and some Chinese...
Quick, simple, no fuss Vietnamese and some Chinese dishes. Pho is consistently good and their fried spring rolls are my favorite around town.

Good place. Arrived about 6pm. Looked pretty busy. Thought we would have to wait a while. We only waited for about 5 min before we were called in. Once we ordered, our food arrived pretty fast. Everything was delicious. The butter garlic chicken wings were good. Spring rolls and the egg rolls were yummy. The best part was the salted fried lobster. Huge pieces of shell on fried lobster, so good. A bit pricey for the seafood options but worth the money.
Excellent Pho location! The service is great and fast! The Pho is bomb! One of my favorite places to eat when I'm in the area for work or just visiting my daughter! Highly recommended!
Ok location for quality vietnamese food. This place has a nice design. Feels similar to a restaurant in Philadelphia that I enjoyed visiting.
The baked catfish is very good. I liked it overall. The pho is also good.
Another popular favorite here on Convoy Street. Nice selection of Vietnamese cuisine. I typically order Pho. Even though it's crowded on a Saturday night, the line does move. This is a larger restaurant so they have good amount of seating. Friendly accomodating staff. They have some vegetarian options.
Service can be iffy but the food is good. Lots of authentic Vietnamese food. Egg rolls are a must as well as the fried chicken (the sweet sticky one) and you can never go wrong with a sizzling beef plate or bun bo hue
Love the 7 course beef dish. Appetizers are good too, the chicken wings and egg rolls are great too.
This viet place is sooooo good. Fresh and authentic ingredients and friendly service. One of my favorite places.
Really enjoyed the first few visits....then wifey ordered a smoothie that came with an unknown insect! Ewwww, haha but I was crackin up on her!. Never coming again tho, shame really cuz the food is really good but an experience like that does not sit well.
The food is great, place is clean
They have the best egg rolls around and their garlic wings are amazing
Vietnamese food and the scene at this location is super good. had a friend come into town and she asked me to take her here again. the place has a cool atmosphere. they have so many reviews for a reason.
Great services, food and price is decent. I traveled 345 miles to pick up a dinner for my wife after beach fun at mission boardwalk. Baked Catfish taste so good and yes we will definitely recommended and will come back our next trip
Had a delicious banh xeo and pho. They didn't skimp on the meat in the pho, and the crepe was crispy and overflowing with fillings. Really good meal!
Excellent shrimp vermicelli. Just wish you didn't have to ask for water refills. Seated quickly at 8:30 pm. Food came quickly.
We've been eating here since they were a little hole in the wall, 26 years ago. Since then they have expanded, redecorate and kept their delicious food reasonably priced. Extensive menu. Service can be slow unless you tell them that you need to eat and go quickly. Their fresh spring rolls are always very fresh.
When we lived closer by, we had lunch there 2 or 3 times a week. We still eat there when we're nearby. Yum!
Came here with another person and we were easily seated. This place is huge. Has tons of seats. It wasn't really busy when we went but I bet it can get super busy quick. I had the large pho bowl and fresh spring rolls and jack fruit smoothie.
The portion size for the large pho bowl is prefect. Definitely quite filling. The broth was excellent. Didn't taste watered down. Strong/deep broth flavors. Wasn't overly salty. Give quite a bit of meats, which is what I prefer.
The fresh spring rolls were good. I would have preferred either an extra piece of shrimp or for them to buy the next size up in shrimp sizes. It would balance it out much better in my opinion. The dipping sauce was fine. I don't think they make that themselves but I didn't ask to confirm.
As for the jack fruit smoothie. I've never had one before so it was interesting to try. I think it was from canned jack fruit but it was still good. Towards the end of the drink, it got a little granular, but other than that it helped balance out my pho dish.
Next time I come back, I'll be trying their broken rice as that is my next go to item when trying out this type of cuisine.
In terms of service, the staff we interacted with were friendly. All the staff helped each other out so service was never stalled. Team effort!
Side note, according to the waiter, the restaurant has been around for ~30 years. That's pretty awesome. I wish them continued success.
Overall, I highly recommend this place.
The garlic butter wings are out of control. Very light and crispy on the outside and the flavor blows your mouth away! Wonton soup was not a traditional tasting, but very good large meaty wontons and all the pho fixings.
Delicious Vietnamese food, wide range of Viet cuisine, but what usually brings me back is the oven roasted fish! Great for families or big parties.
Probably one of the most authentic Vietnamese restaurants in SD. I highly recommend this spot . The service is speedy and great for large groups. This place probably makes the best egg rolls in SD. Entree wise I usually stick to pho (I mix it up between the chicken and beef). If I want flavor, then the bun bo hue is only way to go.
Very good food and service for a restaurant that's always busy
Delicious food, legit Viet cuisine. Supporting while it s closed for indoor dining.
Seriously the best pho I've had. Veggie pho with beef broth.
I tried the whole crispy fried fish and taste yummy
Love their Pho, I have been going there 20 years now. Will miss it.
Service are very poor... Food even worse. I wouldnt recommend to bring your friends or family here.. You will be disappointed.. Taco truck better then Phuong Trang..
The closest thing to mom's cooking. Very tasteful and delicious #1 Vietnamese restaurant in San Diego
Best Vietnamese restaurant in San Diego: Very good food , good service and not too expensive.
My wife & I have been here many times...and many more to come. Great selection, excellent food and reasonable prices!
If I could give a zero stars I would. Worst service in the word waited at the table for 20 muntues for someone to take my order. Waited for my order for 30 minutes before walking out of this place.
The food was really not great.
I ordered fresh spring rolls and the chicken tasted a little iffy. Plus they were delivered to me in under 2 minutes.... I'm thinking they really weren't that fresh.
The guy delivered my app and then never returned for my order. I waited 10 minutes before flagging down another person.
Again, my food was delivered almost immediately. I'm all for fast delivery but atleast pretend like it hasn't been sitting out, pre pared.
I gave the place 2* for the location, it's cleanliness and prices. Otherwise it would have been a 1.
Best Vietnamese food I've ever had. Always fresh and delicious. I have driven across the United States twice, and I have yet to find another place that makes Bo Luc Lac as good as this. It comes out sizzling (shaking beef), buttered and marinated, and with onions. And the portion is very generous. This is by far my absolute favorite dish from any cuisine, any restaurant, anywhere.
I haven't been to this place for several years, and the quality of the food has definitely decreased.
open a little later that most places...great pho and the place is huge
Very good Vietnamese food, probably one of the better locations in San Diego.
Vietnamese food, super satisfying. entered near eleven, it wasn't packed. the service was sociable and attentive. prices that won't break you. similar to a cafe in las vegas i liked.
Good pho broth with decent amount of shrimp. After we order the server said they ran out of bean sprouts? What s a pho without beans sprouts lol
Service was mediocre
If you like Viet cuisine this is the place to go. Casual dining, affordable and tasty.
Nice Pho restaurant with great tasting food and good customer service. We normally frequent a few other Pho places but we wanted to give this one a try for a change of pace and boy am I glad we did!
We didn't feel cramped or crowded inside the dining area and the service was friendly and accurate. The food came out in a decent time and everything came out at the right temperature.
The Pho broth was very tasty and all of the ingredients were very fresh. We ordered Beef Pho, Chicken Pho, Marinated BBQ Cubed Steak, Fried Rice, Garlic Chicken and a few other side items. My goodness did that Garlic Chicken hit the spot! I'm sure it had some MSG in it but we didn't care because it was so good. The steak came out in a sizzling hot plate and smelled and tasted as good as it looked! Parking wasn't too bad either but this area is known to lack parking in general so just be aware of that when visiting.
Overall I recommend this place if you like Pho or Vietnamese food and highly recommend that you try that wonderful Garlic Chicken! We'll be coming back soon!
My family and I always visit the fish store next store and we were getting hungry so we decided to give this place a try. There was none ahead of us, but we needed a pen to put our names down, a waitress came by and gave us one so we put our name down and waited outside. Another group of four teenagers came in and the hostess that gave us the pen sat them before us even though we have the same number of people and everything. I spoke to a manager and all he could say is I'm sorry it's like he didn't care. he just told me he could find a place for me to sit. there is no way I am eating at a place that condones that sort of rudeness and lack of morals from there staff.
Mediocre food, extra slow service, prices out line with experience. Large menu that is difficult to read, would also suggest being able to order by number.
Love this place! I have yet to try something on the menu that isn't delicious. My family comes here from North county to celebrate birthdays/occasions, but we will drive here for take-out if we're craving... & it's always worth it. Definitely try the pho, the egg rolls, honey walnut shrimp (if you like sweet shrimp) & the wings (any flavor). Don't be afraid to explore the menu! Everything is fresh, served just as titled on the menu---which is in Vietnamese & English. Tip: this place stays pretty busy most nights of the week & the parking lot can be a bit of a hassle; take your time getting here & allow a little extra for parking.
The food was great. The pho was very clean with no visible oil. Loved it.
Been going here ever since I was a kid, when there's a family gathering this is the spot to feed everyone. Recommend the Shrimp and Pork jellyfish salad, a few orders of fries egg rolls, the pork BBQ with rice paper wraps, a full order of the garlic chicken wings, seafood soft egg noodles, and the whole fried catfish. Don't forget to ask for the mam nem sauce .
Might be the top 2 Vietnamese restaurant in town. Ca nuong is a delicacy there, as well as bo 7 mong and egg rolls.
The portions are quite large for a good price. The Kungpao beef and sweet and sour chicken are fantastic. Kind and helpful staff!
Perhaps the best Pho on Convoy. And beyond Pho they have some of the widest range of Vietnamese compared to all the other restaurants that serve Vietnamese food.
Been coming here since 2003, ordered the same dish all the time. I loved it so much that I had birthday lunch here with my big family, also became a meeting place for lunch when a friend from out of state came for a visit. Then, I moved so couldnt come here as much as I used too but still come when I visit SD. But, last Saturday will be the last of my visit here due to a bug found on my bed of lettuce, mint, cilantro for banh xeo. The catfish sour soup supposed to come out in pot with gel fuel underneath the pot to keep it hot but instead on large bowl already cold with of course as bowl was little so it has little content but paid a seafood price. Came for lunch with husband and 3 young kids and totally understandable for a long wait to have our food ready, maxing 30 mins but it came 45 mins later. We managed to get our waiter's attention to ask where our food was but he can only say to wait. So food came with more even disappointing finds as mentioned above. My experience here that day resulted to this.
Best pho place in convoy! It might not be a super hip place like others around the area, but they stay true to their colors. Very family friendly
Good food, portions just right, prices are going up.
The DIY spring rolls was good with fried catfish and beef roll. Spacious and nicely decorated restaurant.
The food was pretty good, but didn't pack a lot of flavor. The portions were also kind of small. Still, a nice place for a quick Vietnamese fix.
Good value for the money. Chinese broccoli beef is out of this world.
The food was excellent, the prices were reasonable and the service was good.
Vietnamese chain restaurant with massive menu selections. Try the Ph here, not too bad. Parking lot is terrible but that seems like a recurring theme in the Convoy area. I'd like to try their family dinner next time family come to town. Their appetizers are a must try. I particularly like the nem n ng.
I ate spring rolls and rice noodles, but spring rolls were normal.
Came here on President's Day for a late breakfast and got the Pho Xe Lua (their large combo pho).
VALUE
The bowl was reasonably priced at $10.50 for the large special.
TASTE
Very good pho with lots of meats and different types of meats.
WOULD I COME BACK
I have come back many times and I will keep coming back every time I am in the mood for pho.
TIPS
They accept all major credit cards including Amex and Discover.
I will start by saying I know nothing about Vietnamese food. What I had was ok compared to other Asian foods I like. I tasted the egg rolls, chicken wings, seafood fried rice, fried shrimp... a little of everything. The service was not great, a little slow. While typing this I just realized they never brought out my fresh spring rolls. I wonder if I paid for those :(
Lots of vegan/veggie-friendly options. The udon did not disappoint! Wish there were more veg noodle soup options though! The waitress assured me that their veg eggrolls were eggless.
Great Vietnamese and Chinese food. I little crowded though.
I've been coming here with my family for about 20 years! Great food! Love the cubed beef, broccoli with oyster sauce, spring rolls, diy rolls with sugar cane shrimp. Everything is good here. The service was kind of terrible last time we were here, which was a first.
Ok location for Vietnamese food. the staff was very sociable and kind. similar to a place in denver i loved.
vietnamese food and the feeling here is quality. food was so tasty. service is typically above par. it has a good interior. this place has positive reviews for a reason.
My favorite Vietnamese place, cooking is just like my moms! I've tried almost everything on the menu and love it all. Egg rolls are the best in town bc they use white rice paper. Chicken wings are bomb too. Big portion. Service sucks at times... depends I guess.
Great location for tasty Vietnamese food. Food was so yummy. The staff was friendly and sociable. The bill won't shock you.
A solid Vietnamese restaurant with a large menu and quick attentive service
