Not as good as it used to be. Pretty expensive for a burger place. 2019 update. One star. Fries soggy, onion rings overcooked, burgers dry, milkshakes not as thick. Lemon flavour is horrible. Super slow service. Quick to take money but 25 min getting order. Lots of staff standing around at milkshake stations but only 3 burger makers! Staff told me they cant cross over to help. Will see if try in 2020.

Milkshakes are still to die for. Got a double cheese burger and was very satisfying. The line tooka little while but in total we were in line for about 15 - 20 minutes. For how long the line was it was very fast

Best milkshakes and burgers ever. Thankfully they opened in red deer. The next location should be in edmonton! I stop for a burger every time we drive through Red Deer and Calgary!
The burgers are always big and fresh and there are more milkshake flavours then you can imagine!

This place has been a Calgary fixture since the last millennium. The food is iconic drive-in fare with all the nostalgia and flavour you remember from grade-school hotdog or hamburger days. And I mean that in the most genuinely admiring way possible. Think lunch lady Doris and you're getting on-track. Exactly! And if you are able to enjoy them do not leave here without a milkshake: today's combos were cherry & cocoa mocha and a rootbeer & liquorice for my friend. You'll want to drink it immediately. You will be stymied. You will appreciate it. You will continue to try regardless. Exactly! Peter's is not to be missed!

Oh my gosh! I don't get to visit them often as I live in the extreme south of the city, but when I get a hankering for AMAZING burgers and onion rings, I check them out! I actually added their hot dogs to my order this time around and I was in no way disappointed. Their food is superb! The location is a little confusing to get to, but it's well worth the effort.

I highly recommend Peter's as Wolverine's own choice for superior drive in fare!

Milkshakes are always thick and awesome, but food is usually mediocre. For the price and portions, awesome place! Highly recommend ordering at the counter instead of sitting in the huge drive-in line. You ll be waiting 10 mins instead of 2 hours.

An institution. It's been a cow town staple forever, a classic drive through 'Triple D' type pit stop. Fries are a mega order and everyone you talk to is down for a milk shake. It's a pass your order and your favorite flavour down to the next generation via DNA.

Peter's Drive-In isnt just an institution in Calgary, it is actually one of the best shakes and burgers you'll find. The shakes are out of this world. A tip: there are some shakes that have real fruit in them. If you are doing multiple flavors, make sure one of them had real fruit and you'll be happy with the result.

Honestly only ever go here for their shakes and onion rings.. never a let down though. The burgers arent personally my favorite. I do enjoy the location though, and the outside sitting. Atmosphere is a bit too much for me at times w/ the crowds of people but it is very lovely when the weather is beautiful out.

Great taste. However, the more years pass by the smaller the portions become. Loved their cheese dog but now it is so small I feel like there's bigger hotdogs out there for half the price. Shakes were amazing! Now they're getting water down. Oh well, still great taste!!

You can go through the drive thru or walk up and order. Also they have so many different flavors of milkshakes and you can even combined up to 3 different flavors to make your own milkshake.

Haha, Peters is amazing! Everyone already knows that, though, right? I always get the single cheese cause it s not a single, it s a patty and a half! And I love the cheese dogs! It s a guilty pleasure of mine. The family fries are massive and really another reason I go. The staff is always friendly and seem to enjoy the work environment which is always good.

A Calgary staple! I hope it stays as is for a long long time!

Fryday treat supper!

If you like to eat your burgers with a knife and fork then don't go here... This place is an old school haven for delicious fast food. The only reason I'm giving it only 4 stars is because the lineups are usually ridiculous. Though maybe that's a good sign...?

While meditating with my buddy--a half alligator, half lion, half hippopotamus--I discovered something interesting. There is this thing that happens to good restaurants in Calgary. They get discovered, sometimes they expand, they get really popular, and like a jalopy, it soon gets full of teenagers and then starts to run on fumes.

Many a Calgary fixture has decided to this Riverdalean fate. What I call the "hippo-hype-hooptiez.

Pete's drive in(no relation to Pete's Dragon) is no different.

At least the shakes are good.

Last night, my family visited Peters Drive-in. We live far south Calgary so when we decided to make the 25 minute drive for a burger and a milkshake, we do it with the best of intentions to have a fun family night out. We waited in the long vehicle line up for about another 30 mins. Once we reached the order sign we relayed our order back to her numerous times, including the fact that she could not add ketchup onto the burgers and that she would need to add packages of ketchup into the bag - that's fine. Again, went thru the burger orders one more time before reaching the window. I should mention during the order relaying experience we over heard her say "Jesus" in an exhaustive tone. Once we reached the window we knew we would want to go over the order one more time. There was a gentleman at the window that the original lady had asked to go through the order with us... because she knew she had messed it up and was not willing to take the time to confirm and make it right, so this poor guy had to handle her mistake. In the mean time we are trying to confirm everything with this man at the window and the lady is yelling in the back while standing beside him "why is he yelling?? why is he yelling??" referring to my spouse, who was driving and on the other side of the vehicle from where the payment window was, so yes he had to raise his voice so the man at the window could hear him and by this time we were so disturbed and exhausted by the experience, we just wanted what we ordered so we could leave. The man at the window attempted to get the lady to stop yelling because everyone could hear her, including us. She chose not to stop. We then received our order and drove away. Like i mentioned previously, we drove all the way from deep south Calgary so rather than drive home we drove to a local plane watching spot and decided to have our meal. We made it very clear that all burgers except for one were to be onion free - ALL but one burger had onions. NONE of the burgers had Peters sauce... in what reality would ALL the burgers i ordered not want some sort of sauce on them? Also, the 'ketchup rule' was followed, there was none on the very dry burgers of course, and also NONE in the bag, even though we also ordered a family sized french fry... again, no ketchup. We did, however, receive 4 packages of mayo without a knife to spread it or napkins to clean up the mess from this disaster meal. So, we made an executive decision, packed up all the food, called ahead and said we would be by to give them back their items and we would be coming for a full refund. I should mention that the person we spoke to on the phone was the same yelling lady that took our order who also mentioned to us at the window when we went to pay that she was the 'acting supervisor' and that a manager would not be in until tomorrow. I was SHOCKED that this person was working in this establishment in a supervisory capacity. We went back, walked up to the window with our food - did not receive a 'So sorry for this' or any attempt to make it better- she was terrible. She took my card from my hands and put it in the machine (Covid concerns) and processed the refund. We walked away. In the meant time, we are now close to 8 pm and i have two young kids in the backseat starving and extremely disappointed at this night. I am blown away at the fact that this family friendly establishment would have workers acting in that manner to the general public. Her demeanor and attitude was no doubt the worst i have ever experienced in this type of setting - at least if i go to McDonalds and they get the order wrong, they apologize and make it right - this lady did nothing to even attempt to make it right - she was more concerned with her own feelings and not focused on the level of customer service we ALL deserved after sitting in a 30 minute line up just for a burger. Peter's Drive-In used to be a fun 'treat' idea for my family, given the distance to get there - now I am certain i will not be back, you shouldn't either. Management can contact me to make this right.

I had heard from many Calgarians friends of the fabled Peter's with the greatest shakes in the realm and the finest burgers in all the land. Finally I had the leisure today to experience it.

Shake: initial impression was not sensational but as I worked my way in I began to realize: it tastes very fresh and milky, exceptionally so. The flavour enhancement was not overwhelming like so many others which allowed the creamy nature to hold place as it should. It was an excellent shake, one of the best I have ever enjoyed.

Burger: strong, simply spiced, real cheddar (though not the sharpest by any stretch) the house sauce gave it character. You could tell the patties were fresh. However, I look for something a little more complex and challenging in a burger. Simple doesn't cut it for me. As such I can't put it in the top five for me.

Fries: impressed again they are fresh cut, but only lightly salted and not as crispy as I would have liked. Final impression, on the ordinary side like I get from most mom and pop burger shacks.

Overall I go 4 stars. The burger is 4, the shake is 5 and the fries are 3. Well done but I don't know if I would go out of my way to return.

Honestly I love peters but my most recent visit was not good. I always crave the milk shakes here so I made a order a little different this time which wasn't my favourite and it didn't taste good not only that but my milkshake cup had like 10 hairs on it? Super gross I tried so hard to drink at least some of the shake but I just couldn't bring my self to it. So i threw it out and wont go back for a LONGGGG time. Disappointed peters. But good food overall just need to make sure that lady servers have ALL hair back.
