They descriminated me due to my Hispanic race. From the moment I entered they looked down upon me as if I could not afford a dog they had to offer. They never had the courtesy to attend me. They wasted my time for an entire hour. However, they could attend every other family that entered. I would not recommend coming here. They have a poor customer service. I talked to the top staff and all she could give me was an apology. Not an guarantee that she would improve her workers behavior.

I found a bird in my back yard that fell out of its nest a broke its leg, we rushed it to this place and sence they were not open yet left it outside in its box with air holes in its box, I hope they fixed him all up and he is good as new with I think/hopefully they did. And it was just a baby so I gave five stars because I think they helped out that baby bird.

Being from the south and just passing thru was astounded by the adoption cost 350 dollars wow in nc it's 65 if dog needs to be altered 25 if it's already done. Ask to bring my animals up to meet and greet potential adoptive dog. I have 8 rescues at home that was outta the ?. I offered them to call my vet but did seem to want the dog adopted. Strange my local pound and sheriff department call me when they have a surrender due to health issues where the cost became to much for the owner. May want to find out who was in your shelter before you take the aditude me and my wife received. The dog would have seen more land to run freely then he can ever find in maryland.

The staff here is always knowledgeable and friendly. They accept donations on Saturday and always allow my child to visit with kid friendly cats and dogs when we drop off donations. The facility is always clean and the volunteers there are great too.

I volunteer here on a regular basis, and the animals are all treated wonderfully. They take good care of their animals, including any necessary vet care, are all socialized wonderfully, and advocate same-day adoptions (after a indepth process where they speak to your landlord, and make sure all the members of the household meet the animal). This humane society has only dogs and cats, and doesn't accept animals 'off the street' - they go to other shelters in the area and take their overflow. Very, very few animals here stick around for longer than week. I also really admire that they make you sign an agreement to not declaw cats and keep them inside, give the animal proper veterinary care, and to bring the animal back to this shelter if you must give it up.

What a wonderful institution, we came to look for another dog to add to the family. This place is clean, the animals and other pets are well taken care of. We did not find a dog for our family but we will come back until we do.

Some members of the staff are very rude and lie on pet's profiles. Came to visit a pup that said on both the website and her kennel description that she was good with cats and loved to have many k9 friends. Asked a staff member about her and this woman was instantly irritated that I asked. She also said that the particular dog was terrible with other dogs and hated cats. Guess I can't trust anything this shelter has to say. Pretty bad case of kennel cough going through right now too. Every dog was sneezing ridiculously.

My husband and I were extremely excited when the puppies for adoption posted. I immediately called the shelter to ask if the dog we wanted to adopt had any applications and we were informed that he did not. I immediately submitted my application and then called back to see if I could meet the puppy since there were no other applications. The person on the phone seemed aggravated that I had called again and told me I would need to wait until my application was processed. I refreshed my email and checked my phone all day waiting to hear about our application. Finally around 3pm we called and were informed that the dog had already been adopted and that it was first come first serve. We explained that we were very confused because when we submitted our application we were told there were no others. This was a very disappointing experience for us.

The experience with the workers was really nice but when was supposed to make the application for the dog I couldn t because one of my family members was 1 year younger that should be and I couldn t adopt the dog. He would have a nice family but because of that many rules the dog loses opportunity because there are many rules and policy to adopt the dog.

I went here to volunteer. I don't have a lot of time so I just visited for the day. I learned that forms had to be filled online and approval takes days. I don't understand why the forms can't be filled out at the site and why there can't be a form filled out in one day making me liable for any damage caused. If this was the case, I could've made a dogs day so much better (taken the dog outdoors for an hour or so)

If your goal is to adopt an animal to give it a loving home, you may be very disappointed with the staff here.

My son and I went to interview cats. He found a lovely cat, but it was late in the day, so I agreed to come back the next day. There was a lot of traffic. I telephoned to ask if I could begin the application process by phone. I was told "no, we need to enter your information into a computer." I explained that I was hoping she could take my information over the phone while I was stuck in traffic so that we could complete the application. I was told "no, we can only see you in person." I phoned back, explaining I was still stuck in traffic and expecting to arrive at 4:40 and was told "we need 30 minutes so we can't process your application if you arrive after 4:30 pm." I asked if the staff could stay late to process this application. I was told "no we close at 5:00 pm." I arrived at 4:42 and they would not accept my application.

I feel sorry for the animals at this shelter. Staff seems rigid and not interested or motivated to have animals placed in loving homes.

As a post script, we went to the Humane Rescue Alliance in DC and had a completely different experience.

1st off, messaged then and never received a reply so I drove an hour out to the shelter. I want a specific type of dog but I was really set on rescuing. The manager refused to let me put in an application just because I've never had that type of dog before. She didn't even come out to meet with us then had their staff try and talk us away from that breed. I could've lied and said I had experience with that breed but no I was honest. I've never felt so judged in my life. You don't know me or the dogs we've had and trained. We've had our dogs 15-16 years. And out current one took 3 years to train because she was just as wild as a Husky/Malamute. Ridiculous. So instead of rescuing which is what we need to do to reduce the amount of dogs in shelters I'm going to have to go to a breeder most likely to get the one I want. Smfh. Also, your staff shouldn't be talking people out of getting pets just because they personally don't care for them.

Clean facility, friendly staff, time out of their cages with volunteers and staff that help to socialize them. Drawback is that the kitties are hearing the dogs bark all day long. This is buffered somewhat by glass doors. Sweet kitties there. Didn't visit the dogs so have no review on their facilities.

The people who work at this location are all so nice and dedicated to their job. I'm glad the experience I had visiting here was not as horrific as the reviews I just now read. Hoping that others considering adopting a pet have a positive experience at this location, like I did...there are no excuses for disrespect , so maybe the negative reviews helped the staff re evaluate their communication skills. Again, I was very impressed and did not feel there was anything to complain about. Thanking those who help care for the unwanted animals and those of us who wish to adopt... .

I adopted the best tempered and most well behaved dog I have ever had from the Montgomery County Humane Society. The staff and facilities are excellent and everyone who works there is incredibly friendly. They are also very honest about the dogs and their primary concern is that they go to a good home that is going to be good for both the animal and the new parents. When we get our next dog I will be returning, I don't think a better experience would have been possible!

Adopted my cat here 16 1/2 years ago. After she passed away, I donated her remaining food and unused litter and other items to MoCoHS. The staff were kind and sympathetic to me in my loss. They filled out a form for my taxes. I made a cash donation in honor of my beloved pet.

I still have not found the dog I am looking for. But if you want a pitbull or a pitbull mix they are never short on those. In fact a lot of times they will wave the adoption fees for them.
Small dogs go very fast.
It is a hit or miss with the smells. I have been in there and the place was very clean, and I have been in there and the smell is so strong it stays on your clothes.

About People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1980 by Ingrid Newkirk and Alex Pacheco. The organization is dedicated to promoting animal rights and advocating for the ethical treatment of animals. PETA has become one of the most well-known animal rights organizations in the world, with over 6.5 million members and supporters worldwide.

PETA's mission is to end animal exploitation, cruelty, and abuse by promoting veganism, ending animal testing, banning fur farming, ending factory farming practices that cause immense suffering to animals raised for food production, and advocating for stronger laws against animal cruelty.

One of PETA's primary goals is to promote veganism as a way of life. They believe that a plant-based diet is not only healthier but also more ethical than consuming meat or other animal products. By choosing a vegan lifestyle, individuals can reduce their carbon footprint while also reducing their contribution to the suffering of animals raised for food production.

Another important aspect of PETA's work involves ending animal testing. The organization believes that all forms of experimentation on animals are cruel and unnecessary. They advocate for alternative methods such as computer modeling or human cell cultures instead.

PETA also works tirelessly to end fur farming practices around the world. They believe that no animal should be killed solely for its fur or skin. Through public awareness campaigns and lobbying efforts aimed at lawmakers around the world, they have been able to make significant progress towards this goal.

In addition to these initiatives, PETA also advocates strongly against factory farming practices which cause immense suffering to animals raised for food production purposes such as chickens being kept in tiny cages without any room even move around freely or pigs being kept in cramped spaces where they cannot even turn around properly causing them immense pain throughout their lives until they are slaughtered mercilessly just so humans can consume meat products which are not necessary at all since there are plenty alternatives available like plant-based diets which provide all necessary nutrients required by human body without causing any harm or pain whatsoever.

Overall, People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals (PETA) has been instrumental in raising awareness about issues related to animal welfare across different parts of globe through various campaigns aimed at educating people about how we can help protect our fellow creatures who share this planet with us from unnecessary harm caused due our actions whether it be through consumption habits like eating meat products derived from factory farms where animals suffer immensely before being slaughtered mercilessly just so humans can consume them without giving much thought about consequences involved or through other means like using cosmetics tested on innocent creatures who have no say whatsoever when it comes down what happens with their lives since they cannot speak up themselves hence it becomes our responsibility as humans beings living on this planet together with them ensure we do everything possible within our power limit prevent any kind harm coming way these beautiful creatures who deserve nothing less than respect love compassion kindness empathy understanding patience tolerance towards them always!
