Once again I find myself in crisis with my Subaru!...

Once again I find myself in crisis with my Subaru! I just drove it down to Peninsula Subaru, they gave me a loaner car right away and I was able to carry on with my day! And what makes this even more amazing is that they are not my usual Subaru Dealership. Thanks again Peninsula Subaru for taking care of me and my car. Thank you Scott and Anita!

My experience here at Peninsula Subaru was in incredible. Dan in customer service took the time to make a long term project on my car very fair and affordable. They let me have a new 2020 as a loner car and was more that willing to work with me to make a $2000.00 dollar bill down to $468 and some change. This was mostly due to the fact that the technicians had a hard time finding and fixing the problem. This was abnormal problem and not just your standard bring your car in and have it back that afternoon. They worked on my car 3 times and after it was all done I only had to pay for their time the computer that need to be fixed was free. Dan went above and beyond to help me to make things fair. Will definitely come back when need to. :)

FIVE STAR SERVICE!! WOW! Where do I start?

FIVE STAR SERVICE!! WOW! Where do I start?

Drove up to Bremerton for the holidays and about ten miles out of town, ALL THE LIGHTS start flashing on the car panel. Long story short, I've been in and out of repair shops in the area, and not only did Peninsula Subaru continually keep me in the loop about what was going on, they worked directly with the warranty on my car and saved me all hassle!

Extra huge shout out to Dan Graziano and his willingness to participate and communicate in a way that worked for me and led with compassion and kindness for the situation. While I ended up getting stuck in the PNW for an additional week, it was made a lot easier with Dan's support.

Not enough thank yous for the work this team did on my 2014 Subaru Forrester.

Fair pricing, great sales team, acceptable finance team. Purchased a CPO 2016 Subaru Legacy 2.5i Limited. I worked with Garrett over the course of a couple of days to test drive the rig, talk in detail about Subaru, and negotiate a deal. I never felt pressured by Garrett to make a purchase I wasn't ready for. He was quick to reply to my questions via text and email as I had them. The price was fair--not great--but fair. And that's important. I did receive a discount, which I appreciate, and landed slightly below list price. I definitely felt heard, like my opinion mattered, and that I was a valued customer. We all know there is a profit to be made--it's sales after all--but I did not feel bamboozled. Only critique would be around experience with finance. I'm a local Branch Manager for a national bank, so I'm in the business of sales and understand the sales process. However, the markup for GAP insurance is significant. And, the pressure to purchase an extended warranty beyond the INCREDIBLE 7 YR/100,000mi warranty was annoying. I didn't bite. Even after several questions, which pressed for specific objections. That part of the experience, unfortunately, stands in contrast with the sales team up front. With that said, I'll secure my own financing next time because I will be back again. I will do business with this dealership personally again and I'll be sure to recommend Garrett and sales team. Looking forward to a strong partnership with this Subaru team!

I just completed the order and purchase of a 2013 WRX from Peninsula Subaru and received exemplary service throughout the entire process. DJ was great to work with and treated me with a high level of professionalism from start to finish. I would recommend this Subaru dealer to my friends and family and plan on doing just that.

Andrew Cheney did a great job guiding us thru the buying experience. Although new, he was very personable and if he did not know the answer to a question he quickly went to another of your personal and found the answer. He is a great addition to your sales staff. Much enjoyed Nick, too! All of the other personal that we were involved with; Bret, Sol, April & Bobby to name a few, were super and spent all the time with us that we needed. Peninsula Subaru is definately a 5 Star operation. Cliff Jackson

Extremely overpriced for average work. Be conscious of what words they use with you and what they charge you for. Check-up is for free, diagnostic is $150 (they plug diagnostic chip you can use for free at Autozone) They wanted 700 for a rear wheel bearing, most mechanics will do it for half the price, they wanted 600 for front breaks, most mechanics again will do for around half the price. When I called them out on sneaking in an additional fee for running a diagnostic check that took them five minutes, the woman at the front desk claimed she didn t speak to me on the phone. Poor prices and poor service, over all a poor reflection of Subaru dealerships. By the way I m a loyal Subaru guy. But be smart and use a mechanic.

Really sketchy sales practices (they have a $3000 surcharge the salesman told me is basically just "extra profit, because we can," I was passed around to 3 different sales people during a 2 hour visit, and they talked down to me because I'm a girl. I won't be back. There are a lot of places to buy a Subaru in Washington so no need to put up with this one.

This review is for the service dept.

I've come here four times now. Of the last three, there's always been something wrong that's required me to fix it myself at home or to return for another visit to fix the problem.

At this point, I've lost confidence in them and won't be back unless it's for warranty work I can't avoid; and even then, I might consider driving to Tacoma instead.

This is a great dealership. We considered buying our cars at a couple of other Subaru dealerships but ultimately decided on this one based primarily on location. It was a good decision. We started the process online, then came into the dealership to finalize a deal. Our sales person, JJ Krecker, listened to our needs, and he didn't try to push us or pressure us. If you are looking for a new Subaru, check it out. We were treated fairly and with respect. The whole process was fairly easy. Only constructive criticism was that it took too long but this is likely typical of all dealers.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Peninsula Subaru. We pulled up in the lot and Big Nate was there who greeted us with a warm welcome. We told him our price range and he showed us everything on the lot we could afford. Even some cars that weren t Subaru just to pick our brains. He was very professional but also down to earth and made sure our needs were met and that we were happy. We bought a 2014 Subaru crosstrek from him. The rest of the staff was super friendly as well. I highly recommend this place!

We've been a customer for over 16 years, purchasing 2 cars from the dealership. If you have a special need as I did the first time we came in, they take their time to assist you. That impressed us. We came back to purchase another car, trading our first car in. They're not in a big rush to make a deal. You're liking your car is important to them, even if it's an used car. And if you have any suggestions, they listen.

This dealership is a POS. Their customer service is terrible, I should not feel like I have to take someone with car knowledge in with me to understand what you are saying. I may be a young woman but I am not stupid, and calling me Hun, Sweetheart, and Sweety is insulting. I do have a brain of my own that functions, Thank you.
Last year right before a family vacation they changed my oil and forgot to put in new oil, so my entire engine was shot. I was stranded on the side a the road in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night with 2 small children. The only reason they even paid a portion to fix their mistake is because it was still under warranty. How does a service center not know who to change the oil? That is literally what they do.. all day...
DO NOT GO HERE!!! THEY DO NOT CARE AND DO NOT HAVE QUALITY SERVICE!!

Working with DJ was superb. He answered our questions and addressed our concerns with knowledge and clarity. Obviously he wanted to sell one of his Dealerships cars, but he also offered a comparison with other cars that helped us choose a Suburu. It was an excellent decision to go to Peninsula Suburu.

They are great... until you're done purchasing you...

They are great... until you're done purchasing your car. They swear that they "don't work like other dealers", that they're "family owned and not out to pull one over on you."

Fast forward 8 months. My tire is leaking air so bad that it has to be pumped up twice a day. The warranty I purchased was guaranteed to replace the tires if they go flat.

I've had to take time off work and spent over 6 hours round trip back and forth because they won't take me seriously (even with pictures!). They also refuse to put my name first on my account (even after 7 requests), even though it was MY credit that got the car. They only call my husband, even after I repeatedly tell them to call ME and give them my number over and over again.

1 month after my initial contact about my leaking tire and I still have a car sitting in my driveway with a punctured tire. Since they refused to give us the rental they promised, we have to borrow a family member's car.

UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Super excellent service. They actually listened to what we wanted and where we had to be financially. Corey was our salesperson and showed us several vehicles matching our needs. We decided on one and then Amir took over the actual deal and then DJ handled the finance. All of these people were pleasant to work with, not pushy at all. Great place to purchase your next vehicle.

I have to say I've been to these folks twice and they have been pretty amazing. The only thing I'd caution is that if you call just make sure to contact the service desk. They know their availability and timelines better than reception does. I was told twice to "just stop by" but that isn't the case. They made good on taking care of me though. I'd recommend them to anyone.

sunny days

sunny days
It has been a couple of fuels-ups since I got my Forester. I love the car! It has everything I put in a new car wish-list and even more. Thanks to DJ we learned that we could get a 2015 model with all we wanted for less than a current model with things put in. Thanks to an smart decision we got leather, a nice sound system and cargo protection. The car is great.
But the best part of our purchase was the sales experience. It started with a nice test drive of a 2014 model. Mr. Dougherty helped my wife get comfortable and at ease with the controls and confidently venture into the streets in a car we have never been before. We liked his knowledge and his dedication.
We went on to order our very own Forester. DJ made the process no-nonsense and straight-forward. Thanks to his expertise we ordered exactly what we wanted and where under no obligation until the car arrived. When it did it was washed and parked outside ready for us. It was great to see it there waiting for us.
The serious part of the purchase was done by a professional. MR. DJ Dougherty guided us thru the contract and made sense of it all. Even when it came time for the finance department, he made sure we understood what was going on and what would be best for us. I recommend the extended warranty for bumper to bumper protection, with the payment options they offer, worth every penny.
After all that I feel DJ took more time, out in the parking lot, to help us get acquainted with our new car than in any part of the sales process. He made sure we knew where everything was and what it did. He patiently showed how to enjoy our new purchase and what to expect in the days to come. It is a great feeling to find out how much you like your new car.
Thanks for a great experience and see you soon.

I purchased my first Outback from DJ Dougherty seventeen years ago and he's the reason I went back to purchase another new Outback last month. DJ has experience, knowledge, and listened to what I wanted. He made the new car purchase painless. I also love the free oil changes for life that Peninsula Subaru offers. Nick Dionas was also a pleasure to meet.

Came in for an oil change, first time at this dealership. They did it pretty quickly and installed an oil drain valve, which I supplied, no problem. However here's why 2 stars: on the receipt they said my power steering and transmission fluids were dark so they recommended to change them. I said no thanks and went home to check the fluids myself. Of course both of them were nice and pink-redish color, which is how they are supposed to be. I consider this a scam attempt. Do not advise customers to pay for something that is not needed. Your business will be better off in the end. Seriously doubt that I'll come here again for any service.

I was hesitant to take my vehicle in after the first time they did work. When I went to pick it up, I noticed on the paperwork they did not do all the maintenance they had charged me for. I addressed this with them, and initially got little help. When I went out to my car, there was a (new) crack about two feet long in the front windshield.

To their credit, they replaced my windshield and did all the work I had paid for, then reversed all charges. Dan really took care of it. I will give them a second chance after their attempt to make it right.

Bought Suburu through DJ Dougherty 10 years ago. Very pleased with experience, price, service, and no hard sell. All work on Legacy has been performed by their service department. Peninsula Subaru has one of the best service departments in the area. They try their best to get your car done on time and as quick as they possibly can without making any mistakes. I d highly recommend bringing any vehicle in, even if it isn t a Subaru. The used car department can handle any vehicle, while the Express Department will handle your Subaru.

I d also recommend Richard or Jarret or JJ in Sales if you re interested in buying a new or used car, they make the sales process crystal clear and as easy as possible.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. 2 weeks ago, we bought a Certified Pre Owned Subaru Crosstrek here. We were beyond excited. Less than 2 days after purchase, the brakes were getting really hot and it felt like we were driving with the parking break on. We called (several times, because no one answers the service desk phone) and finally got ahold of someone. They couldn t look at it for four more days. Fine. Then after having it for a week, it was finally fixed and ready for us to pick up. Again, fine. I tried to be understanding and patient. We gave them the benefit of the doubt that they truly didn t know of these issues when we bought it. When I picked up the car, I double checked with the service manager, Dan, that they had checked the other three brakes and tires just in case. He scoffed and said really? Of course we did. Well. Less than 5 miles away from the dealership and the car began exhibiting the EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS but from the other side. I turned around, furious, and took it right back to them.

I hate to post this kind of thing, but that is just negligent. Either Dan lied and his guys really didn t check everything out (which is terrible practice) OR they somehow missed this huge problem. Either way I m furious and wishing I could turn back time.

The only good thing I have to say is that my salesman, JJ, has been very apologetic and has promised to see us through this issue. He has been great.

This was the most painless vehicle purchase I have ever made. I knew what I wanted and I got it with minimum hassle. Didn't get pressured into getting anything extra and didn't have to wait for forever to close the deal. Would highly recommend DJ Dougherty, got him from internet price quote and dealt mainly with him. He explained and showed all the major functions for vehicle before I left the lot. I will come here again if I need another vehicle in future. Highly recommend!

I asked the service department to put in a new battery and check my Subaru for a road trip to Dallas Texas. I paid $50 and they said my car was fine. The first day I was on my road trip, my car would barely start. Once it broke down, Triple A came and said it needed a new battery. I decided at that time to check my fluid levels. The oil was almost a quart low (this car has never leaked or burned oil) and my coolant was also low. I ended up spending close to $500 to get my car repaired so I could get home. I have taken my car here for all services in the past. I no longer trust their service department and will not allow them to do any work on my Subaru but change the oil from now on. Use Peninsula Subaru's service with caution. There are other good Subaru dealerships in the area.

For anyone with a Subaru, or wanting to own one, this is the place to go. Their showroom is very attractive with plenty of room to walk around. There are no high pressure sales here, and I appreciate that.Their customer service has been excellent in every contact I have had with them. I'm even impressed with their telephone etiquette, an art which is being lost. Another benefit is their pride in being involved in the local community. Plus, for those waiting on their cars, free internet access is available. They also have a fitness room you can use. And, don't forget the free coffee. :)This is a great place. I wish all car dealerships were like this!

We had a great buying experience with Peninsula Subaru -- using the Costco buying program. We came in to check out the Outbacks and test drove the 2.5i and 3.6R. The salesman was very knowledgeable about the cars. We loved the feel of the 3.6R and ended up buying this vehicle. Dealer provided a good trade in allowance for our 2006 Lexus 400h.

I am in the market for a Limited 2015 Outback. I visited the Puyallup and Tacoma Subaru dealerships and then came to Peninsula for my final stop only to find them closed, on a Sunday. What kind of sales organization closes on one of the 2 days a week that are free for people to visit and buy? I am not going to visit during the week. You know why? Because I am busy working Monday through Friday making the money I need to buy a new car. The success of our business relies on you being convenient to your customers, otherwise they seek alternatives. If you can't understand that the first step in making a sale is BEING OPEN, then I can imagine what other kinds of stupid moves you're going to make. I will take my $36,000 elsewhere, to a dealership that understands that I should not have to work around YOUR schedule.

If you want to have your "Family Day" fine. Hire someone who is willing to work on a Sunday so you don't loose the business of the Sunday buyer.

I will go over the Tacoma-Narrows bridge to buy my Outback, despite the long drive and toll.

Military members please avoid. My wife is a Chief in the Navy and she took our daughter down for her first " nice/car " it was a 4 year old Honda Civic with 37k miles. They literally described is as

"36 MPG Hwy! Want to feel like you've won the lottery? Less than 38k miles!!! You don't have to worry about depreciation on this wonderful Vehicle!!!!***"

I asked the guy if there was anything wrong with the car before my wife and daughter drive down from Oak Harbor, roughly 5 hours both ways!!!! I was assured there was nothing wrong with the car! When the wife got there the car was damaged in two spots, conveniently hidden by the online photos. My wife said there was rust in one spot! Also the car smelled like smoke.

I don't expect them to tell us about the smell, but the damage I do! It's common bait and switch tactics, they try and get you to the lot so they can hold you there and make you buy one of their lemons. They immediately dropped the price 1600, must be easy when you are asking top book value on a DAMAGED vehicle!

Total waste of time and it's sad this is how they treat their military customers! Oh and thanks for ruining my daughters first experience with a used car dealer!

Peninsula responded by email when I requested pric...

Peninsula responded by email when I requested pricing on a Subaru Limited. They provided a quote with a VIN number, color and other info about the vehicle. I was told that it was in transit and would be available the following week. I asked for additional information about the options that were installed. I received a response that said the car had arrived at the dealership and described the options that were available. I responded by email that I was interested and would drive to the dealership the next day. The salesman asked me to text him before I left.

The next morning I sent a text to the salesman that we were leaving Seattle to drive to Bremerton. He responded: "drive safely." When we were about 20 minutes from the dealership we sent another text that we were close. No response, but none expected.

When we arrived, the salesman was not there. We were told that he was not expected to be there that day but that someone else could help us. I showed them the email describing the vehicle we came to buy and the price. We were then told that the vehicle was in the back of the lot but that it wasn't for sale because they intended to use it as a loaner car for their service department. I was also told that the offer contained a price that was too low.

The manager said that he was willing to give us a good deal on another model or a 2017 Crosstrek, but I had done my research and knew I wanted the the 2018 Crosstrek described in their email offer. He then said we could pay a $500 deposit to reserve a Crosstrek that would arrive in 6 weeks but that he would not honor the price I was quoted. That's when we left.

Wasted two and a half hours driving there to have them dishonor an offer that they said was good through the end of the month. With these folks, even if it's in writing you can't trust them.

I had a great experience buying a 2013 XV Crosstrek at this dealership. These cars are hard to find- they're sold before they even arrive. The online quote-'out the door' pricing was one big draw- then they got me down for a test drive of a loaner to make sure I knew what I wanted. By then, they had located what I wanted, brought it to Bremerton, and installed an extra option I wanted (tow hitch), all within less than 2 days. Joe Hall and Erik Lelevier didn't pressure and made sure I was getting what I wanted every step of the way. They provided information on extras/options, leaving the decision to me. Free oil changes for life is an added bonus, too.

As a small local auto shop owner we have tried telling Peninsula that they will not answer phones in the parts dept a couple times, and if we leave a msg we never get calls back... but after weeks of this ongoing problem we are done.... So we called Subaru in Tacoma and the parts department said they receive numerous calls from customers who cant get through to Peninsula, and they will deliver to us daily. Not sure who cares down there but this is not the way to run a business... Im not even going to get into the blatant lies and horror stories I hear customers tell us often about the things they are told "need to be done" when they have their "free oil changes."

omg. Never thought I'd be wanting to stop by and have coffee with them in the morning.....this is the first time I've bought a new car, and expected the much touted negative car dealership shallowness and stretching. Well, I had a great time. It took about four hours, and they had to order the car from Timbuktu, but it all worked out and I just love my car. Drove it the next day to so-cal, took pictures of it on the beach, under the redwoods, in death valley.....ordered it "7th Star" vanity plates!
Oh yeah, it's a 2014 Outback, granite colored that pretends to be blue in the sunshine. DJ and oh golly what was my best friends name? that guy! we had so much in common....anyway they were both funny and honorable and excited for me, so what a way to do a major financial transaction. Can't say enough about the driving or buying experience - very smooth, comfortable, responsive, cool and groovy electronic gizmos, enough to keep an old hippy chick bizzy for a long time. Thanks Peninsula! Subaru! After two weeks and 4,000 miles, it's coming back for it's first free oil change, this rocks, right?

The experience my husband and I received was less than attentive. We were attempting to sell our car using a Kelly blue book instant cash offer, and they were the first dealership listed to us from KBB. Their sales staff took a long time to "help." And it almost seemed as though they didn't understand how to use the program. Overall it was a waste of time with people who didn't seem to care of we returned to them later on for business. We found a fantastic dealership on the other side that was willing to go above and beyond, so it all worked out!

I called to make an appointment for an oil change and was told they don't accept appointments. I went to the Subaru dealership early in the morning to have my oil changed. I was told the wait would be 2.5 hours and they had no complimentary vehicles. It would have been so much easier to just make an appointment.

Our experience was really made by our sales person...

Our experience was really made by our sales person Wesley Jordan. We purchased a new limited Outback yesterday. My last car was also a Subaru Outback, so I knew we were looking at a great product, but felt I had to compare it with others before making such a big purchase. We only replace cars every 8-10 years, so I want it to be right for me. Wesley very patiently showed me the new Foresters and the Crosstrek just so I was sure. I then took a week to look at Toyota and a couple of other things. Wesley kept in touch but was not irritating. I was able to do some things via text and not waste a ton of time. I asked him to have a couple of models ready to drive and they were pulled up when we got there.
Having looked at the Costco program and True Car as well as Edmunds, I was comfortable with the end of month deal we got.
One hears and learns a few things about particular dealerships as you shop, and what I heard from everyone at this dealership was good things about their camaraderie and about their owner. I like that and respect that their staff appears to stick around awhile. Wesley and others reiterated that. Peninsula is fortunate to have employees like Wesley. Good job!

I would not trust their mechanics or car service work here. I brought my Subaru WRX here for a regular oil change and tyre rotation and within the span of the 3000miles service my wheel literally came off my car at 70mph because of a loose lug nut. Imagine the sheer horror of that situation and they have refused to accept any responsibilities nor shown any sympathy. Shame on them and use them at your own risk!

I made an appointment earlier this week for my subaru here. Over the phone they told me my appointment would be 30 minutes, 1 hour and a half at the most. My appointment was at 1:30 today, I arrived at 1:15. Dropped it off and asked how long it would take. They said 2 hours and a half, 3 at the most! 4 o clock comes around and I still had not heard from them. I call them at 4:20 and they cant get ahold of the status of my car. So they tell me they will call me back. 20 minutes goes by and they still have not called me back. I call them again and they still cant give me any info, they put me on hold and then finally tell me my car is ready! So it took them 3 hours to replace my passenger air bag! And I had to call them to find out my car was ready. Ridiculous! Staff was rude. They acted as if you were not there. Employees just standing around talking to each other, or on the phone.

This was my first time buying a new car and I didn't know what to expect. I knew what I wanted (2015 Subaru Legacy) and I knew how much I wanted to spend. I also visited a couple of other Subaru dealerships around the area. Peninsula Subaru offered me the fairest price and I felt that their staff was more sincere than the other dealerships that I visited. They made my 'first time car buying experience' into one of the most enjoyable experiences in my life.

Very disappointed with this dealership. Took my car in to have a recall done, front license plate bracket and also inquire about having them install my brake pads. The first issue was when we called we needed to pay for the part up front....which wasnt an issue... That issue came when i received my credit card statement and found out i got charged more than what they said the charge was ( believe it was only about 10.00 more but that was not the point) the recall issue did get fixed so no complaints there... The service manager brandon had looked at my car and said i do not need new brake pads i only need rotors ... Which through a big red flag ... He told me it would only cost me 370 and my rotors couldn't be turned.... I went to my parents mechanic and my brakes were in good condition and i wouldnt need new rotors for another year to two years .... And its sad that brandon would try and screw me over when i have a 12 month old daughter with me and im a disabled vet... So thanks to him being dishonest i have to go all the way to tacoma ..... And im not afraid to hide who i am im the female that came in about a month ago in the evox WITH my daughter.... He did show me how to use my lock to unlock my wheels so i do appreciate that but thats it. To bad im a smart female and did not just say "" ok put rotors on and charge me 370.00 for them""

I Also had a shocking experience!! Salesman didn't introduce himself so have no idea who I was talking to! He told me he didn't know much about the cars as he was a new guy. I had to asked to look at the interiors of the vehicles as they were locked. When we went back into the dealership to look at brochures... none available as they had run out. I was then told I had "arrived at a really bad time" as there was a power outage so I couldn't see color schemes on the computer screen. But the REAL reason it was a bad time was because it was lunchtime and the manager was handing out the sandwiches in his office!!! And as walked out of the dealership the salesman who was "helping" me was taking the first bite of his sandwich!!

Horrible experience. Very impersonal service, many, many messages left (even in person!)/voice mails/e-mails/online requests and questions all left unanswered and ignored. Truly feel abandoned and forgotten when I'm not at the dealership. Actually, I felt the same while I was there. I actually bought a car there, but have REGRETS now. Could have done without all this stress and despair.
