A couple of days ago I went to visit this museum and I was very pleasantly surprised.
Second - this museum has a great range of exhibits - jewellery, ceramics, furniture, glassware - the curated collections of the Memphis Design Group and the collection of contemporary ceramics were particularly good for example. Now wait, I hear you say, I didn't go to Paris to see some pots and chairs, I went to Paris to have my photo taken in the Hall of Mirrors at Versailles and to complain about how difficult it was to get close to the Mona Lisa. Of course! We all indulge in these precious fantasies! But think of how thrilling it would be to find something new, something you knew nothing about, expanded horizons, that is the pearl in the oyster that this museum offers you.
Third - it was quiet, calm and there were no waiting lines. I don't want to ruin the atmosphere of the museum by encouraging a rampaging horde to invade this delightful oasis but I urge you to give this place a go, I hope you will find it as satisfying as I did.
Fourth - really nice views out of the windows up on the 9th floor.
Doesn't deserve a single star! A real scandal! Maps are not up to date. Floor 3 was empty, floors 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9 were closed and they didn't say anything at the entrance. So we basically paid 11 per person for nothing. Bad deal. First time I am disappointed by the staff in a museum in Paris.
Spent good 3 hours here. It's not so crowded and the staff are friendly. There were display rooms each decorated in different period of time, which I enjoyed the most. Start with level 3, 4 then go to level 7 and walk down the stairs. It was suggested by one of the staff and I am glad I followed his direction.
A magnificent exhibition, which allows you to discover the whole Dior universe (until today, not just the Christian Dior period). Lots of dresses on display, but also accessories (sometimes a little too much in terms of readability), and a superb finish! BUT: 5:30 am queue !!! Arriving 1 hour and 15 minutes before the opening, overcrowded rooms that do not allow you to really appreciate the exhibition, it's a shame, we are a bit late.
I love this Museum which is part of the great building of the Louvre. The entrance from the gardens on the Carroussel side with the pretty terrace overlooking the Tuileries Garden is so pleasant. The main stairs are majestic and the collections are very interesting. The temporary exhibitions, always well chosen, integrate into the premises thanks to superb scenographies.
The museum always includes orginales exhibitions, interesting, in short, often at the top. It is rarely a disappointment to go there, because if you are not surprised by the beauty of these exhibitions, you are amazed at their originality. An address for the curious, tourists or Parisians.
This museum, devoted to the applied arts, does not grant discounts to the graphic artists and owners of the map of the house of the artists. The good joke!
Truly underrated and oft-missed. Exceptional and marvelous pieces across multiple eras. The exhibitions are of an incredible standard. Paris has a lot of incredible museums, but this is probably one of my personal favourites.
Dazzling ...... we can not help imagining the relationships between the powerful world and the great creators of haute couture! See the acknowledged and assumed references with the exhibition of the dresses of the French, African, Chinese and Chinese aristocrats ..... etc.
Beautiful museum but as we do not distribute plan, my daughter and I have not been able to make the rooms in order (according to the times) and have often turned a long time to find our way, with no one to help us and supervisors of rooms very unfriendly for the most part (not saying hello, or eyes glued to their laptop or sleeping!). 1 only young lady was adorable because she said hello and helped us! Nevertheless, we loved the temporary exhibition on Japanism
Visit of the exhibition Fair Corrected Required which traces the history and the influence of the garment on society through the centuries. Expo very interesting, to see! Moreover, it is free for -26 years old
One of the best built and thought museums in Paris. The collection is rich and the museography affordable. Temporary exhibitions alternate between popular culture and more complex subjects. Pleasant surprise.
One of my favorite Paris museums. The collections are very rich and the museography, especially the new spaces art nouveau and art deco, is great. Very original works are exposed. Do not miss: the jewelry gallery. It is a museum where it is pleasant to walk to the desires, to let his eyes meander between the works. The scientific content is sound and relevant. The exhibitions are always of a high quality and on topics that interest the greatest number (Barbie, toys, drawings of Antoon Krings ...) Bonus: magnificent views of the Tuileries, the Louvre, the Orsay Museum and the Eiffel Tower
Nice place. Depending on the exhibitions, there are sometimes too many people. Right now, Christian Dior exhibition, very nice exhibition, but you have to take your patience to see everything. It is way too hot.
Very nice museum. Suggestion for improvement however: a lot of cold wind in the lobby as the two doors of the airlock are open. It is not environmentally friendly or comfortable for guests.
We came to visit the Dior expo, with tickets bought in advance: A crazy world, cramped, crowded and overheated spaces: we saw almost nothing, and yet the expo looked superb ... we are came out after 30 minutes on the verge of discomfort, what a pity !!! and I'm not talking about security: a movement of panic in one of these dark rooms can quickly degenerate .... I pity the staff who have to work under these conditions .... Shouldn't we limit the number of ticket sales?
One of the most spectacular museums I have ever seen. Pay special attention to the Dior exhibition and please do not miss the upper floors dedicated to art and advertising.
Wrong. Almost half of the rooms are closed but they charge the same to see the museum. You enter you pay the entrance fee and if you leave a moment before seeing the exhibition (to see the menu of the attached restaurant) YOU CANNOT ENTER AGAIN, you lose your money and it is not indicated anywhere. Bags, backpacks and umbrellas must be left in the cloakroom on floor -1. The staff is quite dry and uncompromising. Decorative arts until the 30s, NOTHING later. A big disappointment.
Magnificent Dior exhibition. The permanent collection should not be obscured by temporary exhibitions: a route that traces the history of the decorative arts from the Middle Ages to the 1950s and beyond
It is a beautiful place I hope to visit as soon as possible so that you can know the ancient history and fine arts that this place carries of art pieces
Very nice exhibition on the wonders of Christian Dior but spoiled by the heat due to a lack of air conditioning and the circulation of a reip large number of visitors simultaneously
