If you travel to beautiful Picton, you have to go to the Waupoos Winery. On top of the hill you look past the vineyards over the bay. The cider, the food, the staff are all amazing. You cannot miss this jewel in the county!!!!!

Visited the winery on a beautiful November day - when you are in the store, the view across the vineyard out to Lake Ontario is spectacular. We selected the "contrast" wine tasting, it was a wonderful experience and our hostess was very knowledgable. Would love to see it in the summer.

Every year, my friends and I visit the county wineries. To me, this is the worst of the local wineries. Their staff lack good social skills and do nothing to promote their ho hum wines. Most times I leave this winery feeling very upset at the way I have been treated or not treated at all!!!

Last year, we tried out their restaurant...nothing special...we all agreed that we would not go there again. There are so many good restaurants in the area, with a better menu, why go to this mediocre one???

Beautiful setting BUT ready yourself for a lot of snobbish behaviour by their sales staff. Is it worth the visit? Well, down the road in mid-summer, are some tasty blueberry farms...take your children, a pail or two and by-pass this winery for some tasty treats of blue. Go park at Lake on a Mountain and watch the ferries go back and forth across the bay. Get out and test the lake. Afterwards, take a trip on the ferry from Picton to Adolphustown...the children will love it. So, in summary avoid this winery in favour of fun for the family!

Disappointed. Had a good friend come from Niagara on the Lake and wanted to bring her to what I thought was a prestige Winery. We got there, couldn't get near the tasting area so we went to the restaurant. The greeter looked at her watch and asked if we had reservations. We did not and she said they were not seating anyone else. I mentioned there is a sign outside for people to come in and taste wine so what gives? We had one drink and left without purchasing anything. Anyway we weren't treated very well and we went instead to Three Dog Winery where they were welcoming and glad to serve us. We bought 7 bottles of wine there. We won't be going back to Waupoos. They need to make sure their staff are better trained in hospitality.

We loved the wine here and the lady running the wine tasting was extremely knowledgeable about the wines and flavouring. The grounds were lovely to walk around. We were a bit disappointed as we came for the 3 o'clock wine tour as the informational booklet we got at our lodging said wine tours were run 3 times a day. We found out that they only run at those times if you call and book ahead. Others showed up as well asking about the tour only to find out it wasn't happening. The lady there said they would clarify on their website and other communications. We also shared the cheese plate at the restaurant. We mentioned we planned to do the wine tour (not knowing we wouldn't be able to) so service was fast and accommodating. We enjoyed many of the things on the cheese plate but it only came with two cheeses and since we don't really like blue cheese, we only enjoyed the one. Maybe an idea could be smaller portions with three varieties.

Food was very good. Speed of service was very slow, communication between kitchen, wait staff and table not good. Eggs Benedict were overcooked (hard boiled). Disappointed! Not kid friendly :(

Waupoos is a winery that is situated on one of the most scenic and beautiful properties in PEC. The wine is ok, but the serving staff on this particular day was a tad lacklustre- inattentive and bored. Worth a visit but lots of room for improvement.

Waupoos Estates and Winery is such a beautiful place to visit and host a wedding. The ceremony venue on the water is a favourite of ours as wedding photographers. We cannot wait to work with the whole team at Waupoos again on more weddings in 2020!

We had a terrific experience at the Waupoos Winery Restaurant! Amanda was fabulous! We were a group of 11, including a baby and two young kids and she did a terrific job getting our food out, being wonderfully humerous and showing us the way to the petting zoo! Everyone enjoyed their food and the sangria - I loved the Pink Rabbit Rose!!

This is a really pretty winery with some really nice (and affordable) wines. It backs onto the lake and has beautiful gardens where you can wander around with a glass of wine (my kids really enjoyed playing in the gardens trying to catch butterflies and frogs). There was a wedding being set up for later in the day in a marquee in the grounds which looked amazing.
There is a really good sweet shop with gelato and also a petting zoo right over the street which our kids really enjoyed.
We stayed for lunch which is where things were slightly disappointing and why I haven t given the review 5 stars.
Pros:
- food was delicious; good selection including a decent kids menu and everything was fresh and tasty
- there s a lovely patio and then also a really nice indoor seating area
Cons:
- service was pretty bad; they were very nice but there just weren t enough servers working for a Saturday lunchtime on labour day weekend. We waited about 10 mins for anyone to even seat us.
- we asked to sit on the patio but were told we couldn t as we didn t have a reservation. About half the tables on the patio were empty and they remained empty the whole time we were there.
- everything just took quite a long time; waiting to place our order, waiting for our food to arrive, waiting for our plates to be cleared... we had to get up and go find someone in the end to order ice cream for the kids and get our bill. It probably wouldn t have felt as long if we weren t with impatient kids!

I d definitely recommend going and for getting food here - it s lovely - just make sure you call ahead if you want to sit on the patio.

What s not to love about Prince Edward County? It s pleasant everywhere you go and Waupoos Winery is no different. It s such a great location to enjoy some food and wine. I like their display of wines and drinks in the store area. Very colourful! Of course the cider is awesome too!

My husband and I had dinner at the Waupoos Estates Winery restaurant as part of the Spring Countylicious 2018 program last night. Our food was delicious. The portion sizes were large. We both had the smoked pork rib platter as our main course; we both felt that these were the most delicious and tender ribs we have ever had. We also met and talked with Guerin, the executive chef during our dinner. He is very helpful, courteous and well informed. The restaurant has recently been re decorated and the decor was very lovely. We liked all of the large windows with the beautiful view of their vineyards. We will certainly be returning to this restaurant again (and again!) Well done and thanks for a super evening.

After reading some of the reviews we had high expectations and we very disappointed.
The vineyard is very big compared to most in the area probably because their wine is good.
In the spirit of what visiting a vinyard is all about this place fails miserably.

The staff at the front store were not very knowledgeable about their products, their wine tasting area was sub par with no where to sit if you wanted to sample. The area the website boasts you can take your wine and enjoy a scenic view was closed for a wedding and the staff were tripping over each other which gave the feel that no one else was welcome.

Staff at the restaurant on site were rude. We were going to stop here to eat but decided to leave and go else where.

In all of my restaurant experiences, this one is by far the best! We travelled from Ottawa for our 10th wedding anniversary and we have had our fair share of restaurant experiences having a wide variety in a big city.
The food is AMAZING. The grounds are spectacular. The menu is locally sourced within 50km of the Estate. Most is from their own farm across the street! You will not be sorry!

This is a great restaurant. Best burger I ever have had. Today I was disappointed. We drove all the way over there and it was closed on a Tuesday. . I don't think they know they are a tourist attraction. So from there we drove all the way over to Devonshire in Wellington and it was wonderful. It was in October.

Beautiful Estate Property, and grounds. I was a bit disappointed in the lack of flow for where to go, what to do .... there was a line up, yet no one was explaining the line, or lack of need to wait if you wanted a drink only and to enjoy the view.

Stood for a full 11 minutes in an almost empty restaurant while wait-staff kept telling us it would be a few more minutes. Finally after a long wait (and a still virtually empty restaurant) we were not so pleasantly informed that we would not be seated if we didn't have a reservation. We should have been politely informed this upon arrival, since the restaurant was not busy at all during that time. I take particular offense at the non apologetic (bordering on rude) manner in which we were finally informed. One can't be a five star restaurant with one-star service.

Delicious lunch at Waupoos. The charcuterie plate was a hit with everyone, and the fish was amazing - lots of fish and light on the batter. Kids enjoyed it as well. Our server was amazing. Enjoyed wandering around the winery grounds and finished off the visit with a tasting. Definitely worth a visit.

Yesterday we went to Waupoos for their Experience ...

Yesterday we went to Waupoos for their Experience Tour. Unfortunately, it was not a good one, as there was no tour nor wine tasting at all.

Communication was lacking right from the get-go. I had filled out the form on their website, to which I received a reply asking about allergies and aversions. I replied but never got anything back. I had to call the winery several days later to find out whether or not we were reserved.

Once we finally arrived, we were informed that there would be no tour and no wine tasting. This was a huge disappointment. This should have been communicated long before we had actually arrived at the estate. Thankfully we had visited other wineries earlier in the day to get this experience.

Dinner time - We were celebrating my girlfriends birthday and I had informed Waupoos of this in the email listing allergies and aversions. Two of her aversions were seafood and goat cheese. Low and behold, one of the courses was smoked salmon on a bed of goat cheese. I was astounded at the disregard. Again, very disappointing. This was supposed to be her birthday gift.

Finally the bill came, and was set at the full price of the tour ($110 per person). I let the server know then about our disappointment and he quickly apologized and removed $40 from the bill. While I did appreciate the discount, I hope that Waupoos communicates better to its patrons who want to enjoy their most expensive offering.

We essentially drove and hour and a half for a nice dinner, which we could have booked much closer to home.

Very disappointed. Hostess was not friendly. Advised of 20 minute wait. After 20 she advised two tables being cleaned and just 5 more minutes. She proceeded to sit 2 other groups. We inquired and she shrugged her shoulders and advised it would be another 20 minutes. We asked what happened and she simply said we could do take out. We left and will not return.

Just over a month ago my Mom and I went to Prince Edward County and Waupoos was our first stop. We were served by Tina who was very informative and helpful- she even offered to show us the cellar. I bought 2 bottles of wine, 1 geisenheim (called Great Legs White) and an apassimento Baco Noir. I have previously been unwilling to spend more than 30$ on a bottle of wine until I tried said Baco Noir. It was the best wine I had in PEC that day. Thank you Tina! :-)

Wonderful winery: scenic located, very posh and well maintained. Wines are quite good, albeit a little overpriced for Ontario wines.

They have a restaurant with picnic opportunities, which I liked but did not try.

The gift shop, cute but a moneymaking scheme and a chocolate shop that does not belong there. It would have been better to sell some snacks and cheeses instead (like this they have a "market" across the street, but it would be nicer to have it in the main building instead of the chocolate and candy shop.

Great food, wine and view from the patio. Highly recommend making dinner reservations in advance as they get busy quickly. If you can t get a seat on the patio, you can still do takeout and bring your food + wine down to the waterfront.

Pretty property. We enjoyed a nice stroll down to the water and around the grounds. Wine tasting was reasonably priced, and the fee is waived if you purchase two or more bottles. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and friendly. They have a great selection of wines to choose from in a variety of styles and at a nice range of price points. There is also a small candy shoppe attached. We plan to visit again sometime and dine at the restaurant.

Was quite busy when we arrived but the lady who served us was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. The winery is gorgeous and we enjoyed touring the grounds - however the wine just wasn't very good. We tried 5 different kinds and were not impressed (sulphur odour/taste, no body, etc.). Would probably not go back again.

Very large selection of wine but only 3 really stands out according to our palate. Prices are either very affordable ($ 16) or quite expensive ($ 65) for a bottle. Free tasting with the purchase of 2 bottles. Restaurant at the back for dinner in the evening.

Amazing grounds to visit on a sunny day. Picturesque lakefront views. The wine was right up our alley, particularly the Geinsenheim s - crisp and refreshing on a warm summer s day. Right across the street from the cider house and very walkable!
