Love Winter Fest! So much fun, as long as you don't get caught up in the lines for the rides. Focus on the winter fun they have and you won't be disappointed!
It's a good place for the family besides the long lines
Maybe because it is early season they were short staffed and most rides were closed.
Grew up with this place
An excellent hangout place
A great coaster lineup and collection of flat rides! Goldstriker and flight deck are amazing!
Great for older kids and adults but not enough to do for toddlers to last while waiting forthe family
Amazing park, lots of fun. The rides are really breathtaking and the food options are varied, both healthy and comfort foods. A few options for kids too.
We loved the great time we had celebrating my daughter's birthday.
Love the customer service here. Very special needs friendly!
Me and my family spent our new year's eve over here(WinterFest 2018). It was heavily crowded, may be much higher than one may imagine ! There were live music shows and dance performances, which was good. That said, however, I really doubt if anyone could enjoy all these stuff by standing throughout in the middle of such a huge floating crowd. None of the food stalls were prepared to meet such a large crowd, it was total mess and I could see long queues everywhere. We bought fast lane tickets for all of us. One fast lane ticket costs around $42, which is more than a park entry ticket !!! We could not figure out a single ride that accepts fast track ticket. Highly disappointed, waste of money and time. Will never ever go back again !
It's a great park for any age and there are lots of things to do! For example, there are thrill, family, little kid rides, and roller coasters. Not only that, their are many activities you can do as well, you can enjoy carnival games or enjoy arcade games throughout the park. Let's not forget all the different spectacular live shows around the park. I give all the shows 5 stars as well just because they are that awesome. In the Summer you can cool down in the park's water park called "Boomerang Bay", they have a wide selections of water slides, water rides, and the Great wave pool they have. For the younger kids, great america has age appropriate water attractions, water play ground, water slides, and a pool as well! Not only that but great america has many restaurants, snack bars, candy stores, and wide selection of drinks to stay hydrated! Great America also has Halloween Hunt in the fall for all of those who like a good scare! They have many scary mazes and they scare you throughout the park as you walk around. Halloween Hunt can be very scary, yet very fun to be at if you like a good scare. I recommend going to the park to enjoy your day and to buy a season pass. Trust me your going to want and go again! In the summer I recommend going Mondays through Thursday because those are the days when the park doesn't have long lines! Anyways that is why I give the park a good 5 stars!
Flight Deck is great.
Gold Striker was surprisingly good.
Very busy place but very fun. The kids love the water park.
Been going since i was a little kid...fun never gets old...we do tho...enjoy it while you still can..
Always fun, but don't go on a holiday or a weekend, as the park fills up quick.
That being said, if it's not packed it's an amazingly fun park. The rides are the right amount of crazy and welcoming, and there's enough at the park to keep you interested for a full day.
Love it!
A really great fun place to take the family and have some fun
Still as fun as when it newly opened way back. Boomerang Bay is a great extension of the park!
Close to home. Plenty of fun rides - water and dry. Variety of food in food court. Nicely kept/cleaned walking areas. Went on a Monday at opening - not crowded; more so at day's end after people off work (discount prices?).
I had not been to Great America in several years. Yesterday was a nice day; it was less crowded than I ever remember it being. The rides were working fine. The food is way over priced, but I guess they price it for the Silicon Valley worker's as they would be about the only ones that could afford to feed their families there. Subway and Panda Express seemed to be a better deal than the Food Court which was way way too pricey even for hot dogs, burgers, pizza.
I'm an adult that still comes to the amusement park . Still enjoyable even though I loved P.G.A more. My rating would be more of a 3.5 . It sucks that the times I've gone that the rides I want to go on are not in service. Very disappointed that they got rid of loggers run
Good place to hangout with friends and family for people living in bay area. Variety of food chains inside to kill the hunger. Rides are fun. Kids would definitely love.
Has a good number of rides for the tykes but caters more to older kids and adults.
Rides were fun but my experience with there food bracelets sucked bad chicken strips and my second meal they told me it was an hr and a half to get my food after waiting 20 min To get my order in
Great place to go with young children and older as well!
Seems like it is going downhill slightly. People were being threatened around Halloween and that isn't something I want to bring my kids around.
The same thing every year.
We will not be buying season pases for 2018.
Great America remains to be the fun family theme park in Cali. With the expansion of the water park and the unlimited dining and drink options, you can easily enjoy a full day of fun in the sun at a cost that won't bankrupt your pockets! There is something for everyone. I took my family. My husband and I enjoyed the water park and midway area, my children (20 year olds) enjoyed the thrill rides. They have many new rides that are in line with the excitement of today (Trail blazer, Tiki twist) as well as the classics (Demon, Grizzly). My grandchildren (teenagers and toddlers) had a ball with rides that kept them engaged without scaring them to death. My youngest (almost three) loved camp Snoopy. My only complaint was that there should be more visible weight and size restrictions posted outside of the rides along with height requirements before people wait the hour in line. I witnessed some people who waited in line only to be told that the ride could not accommodate them. My heart goes out to those who may experience embarrassment, anger and frustration when this occurs. With the knowledge that the size of Americans has increased in the last 30 years these establishments have a responsibility to be mindful of that fact and could at least post the restrictions on the signs that are already in front of the rides. I like to point out that there were many rides that did accommodate the plus size crowd, yet the few that didn't should be noted and addressed. All in all, I will return next year. My suggestion for those that go, get the all day dining. It can be used at the subway and panda express within the park along with the regular food fare.
It is so big that you take more than one visit to go through everything and you will surely want to return
Having a good time at Great America for the first time I've been here and been living by this m*********** I've all my life I'm just now getting here having fun
The park is of a middle size such that there is something to do for everyone and it is not so big that you will get lost. Many rollercoasters and other thrill based ones. Have a fun day and plan for sunscreen!
It's an amusement park. Roller coasters were fun, and that crazy tower thing that drops you was ridiculous. Did that twice in a row! That said, I feel like I've had my fill for a few years...too many lines, overpriced beer, ridiculously sad food options.
Very long lines for Halloween haunt But still a very good theme park
Fun park with a great location. It's also a very good value with the season pass. Highlight of the park is Flight Deck (though I still call it Top Gun), and Demon. Very fun. Drop Zone... err... Tower still provides a decent thrill (and a good view). Plus, new roller coaster for this year.
More than half the park attractions we're closed. Absurdly expensive. Must've been a thousand unruly pre-teen brats running around, jumping the line. Never again.
Having lived in San Jose all my life, Great America has lost its luster over the years, the facade of grandness and freshness they try to appeal to the masses with a new coaster here and there is clouded from the greed of expensive price gouging at every corner. All the typical rips like expensive entrance fees, parking fees, fastpass fees, $4 waters, etc are added to by services like Photo passes, Food passes, cabana fees, etc. speaking of cabanas, they want so much money to rent a shade in a pool area thats surrounded by cheap dirty concrete and dirty shades, i mean at least take a water hose and rinse off all the black dust, dirt and debris from your shades and covers in the morning. most everything looks as dirty and old as the park is. Lines for rides are staggering seemingly like the operators are told to move at a snails pace to encourage sales of FastPass tickets, and you get to sit there and watch as you wait several turns to ride because those privileged with Fastpasses get ahead of you over and over and over.
I like the great America because it has a lot of rollocosters and waterparks
Unfortunately they offer very unsafe drop off and pick conditions for ride share vehicles. The manager refused eye contact and ignored my complaints, completely refusing to acknowledge the situation. The park itself is good for the money. The attendants seem to have a safety first mindset. It definitely needs some repairs on the older rides. Wish I could give it more stars but we didn t start the day well being dropped off amidst cars driving around us with my child.
Halloween at Great America was great this year, the live music was so good!
Not the same as it used to be... But it still is dope!come on the weekdays
NO LINES!
This place is fun It's cheap lines are short and the rides are extremely adrenaline racing just expect a lot of students from schools near the end for the end of school field trips
Love taking my grandbabies to CGA! Such a fun place. We look forward purchasing our season gold pass. Thanks for the easy payment plans it's so convenient and affordable for our family size
An older amusement park, but a classic. Not as many people here as Six Flags parks but the roller coasters are just as crazy!
Haven't been here for 25 years and we had a blast as a family. Can't wait till we come back again
A great amusement park in Cedar Fair Style. A great collection of thrill rides and coasters, and a great water ride area. A couple of things led me to give it 4 stars: 1- The park was not quite as well maintained as a Disney park. 2- Limited hours during non summer months. We went during October, and as seems to be the new trend, the parks are double dipping with holiday themes. The park closed at 5:30pm on a weekend so it could open at 7pm for its Halloween event. Why not include the holiday theme for the same price?
The rides were good but the service was not good at all
The season passes are a pretty good deal and there are many great activities for little kids.
Great America is great I love the rides the roller coasters the food awesome
Good time, but the experience was negatively affected by the large numbers of young, immature, and (far worse) unsupervised children/adolescents.
They are very high prices for food

For kids or adults with children, I think this place has some appeal. But after returning from a last visit more than 10 years ago, not much has changed. Top Gun isn't called "Top Gun" anymore, but my younger company seemed to think it's still the best ride. But it's hard for me to recommend the place other than for people who love rides. There's something lacking that I can't place; but if someone can figure that out, I think this place could be at best a four star destination. The food options are as bad as what you expect at a movie theater, but I don't think it has to be that way. Yes, the majority of customers must be high schoolers at the older end of the spectrum; but for the adults forced to babysit and wait around all day, it'd be great to have at least one healthy food source for sustenance. Just an opinion from a grumpy old man who doesn't know how to have fun, I guess; but some decent food while I'm at it might be nice.
