I had pretty high expectations for this place because I have always heard great things but to be honest it was terrible. I ordered the scallops-which if you cook them right I love but if not cooked right are a terrible texture. Unfortunately that is what I encountered. The scallops were stringy and chewy. The baked potato was great though lol. I will say that one good thing is that as a carry out experience the food was very hot.

Absolutely one of the best dining experiences. Services and food consistently good. I have been to many over the past 60 + years and would rank the Paragon among the top 5. Looking forward to going back soon.

This is what I want in an old school steakhouse. Our steaks have always been perfectly cooked and the sides are delicious (they made me a fan of creamed spinach). Service was great as well.

Most under-rated steakhouse/supper club in Dayton. Excellent steaks as good as anywhere in town. Great bar area. Long-time, experienced, friendly and dedicated staff make for a very good dining experience. Continue to be amazed as to why this steakhouse does not get more recognition than some others in Dayton. Consistently excellent food and service.

I love this place but for the first time, I was there on 6/27/20 and I had two bad streaks. The first filet I had was not tender and real chewy, the second was red with blood on my plate. I do order 'butterflied and well-done but have never had an issue, it's always been delicious. I chose not to have a third one made. The waitress was very nice, I liked her. She at first told me the manager would be over and I told her good, I would like to see he or she. The manager didn't come over then after the second steak was bad she told me she would tell the manager and he or she would be over. After I waited and waited no manager. Then when I asked again the waitress told me the manager told her to handle it and she took the steak off the bill and gave me a free desert.. Everyone tell me.... Shouldn't the manager have come over to me period even after the first bad steak?! I personally think so and I shouldn't have had to ask.... I was VERY disappointed.. And I reservations later in the year.....?

Best food and service you can imagine! Anybody who says otherwise was probably having a bad day. Yes it's expensive, but so is any other fine dinning you will go to. But it's always staffed to have enough people for the customes to get their food at just the perfect time. Living in Chicago and Atlanta has allowed me to taste what these cities have to offer and I am always looking forward to coming home to eating here!

Just had my first experience at The Paragon Super Club tonight. If I could break down food vs. Service I would give different ratings. Overall service was nothing what I expected of what is considered an upscale restaurant. I had invisioned a Jeff Ruby or Eddie Merlot's type of service experience but it was more like an upscale Frisch's. The bar staff wasnt very friendly while we waited over an hour, even after calling ahead. Our waitress took about 10 minutes to take our order, then we didn't see her again until our food came out. She wasnt unfriendly but also wasnt trying hard to give a nice experience. Nothing about the service of this place made me want to come back.
However, I will say the food may make up for the so so service. I had a bone in filet that literally melted in your mouth. Cooked and seasoned to perfection. May be one of the best stakes I have ever had.
You can easily spend $100 on food alone here. Throw in a couple glasses on wine and youre near $150. Just dont expect the level of service you think you would get at an "upscale" restuarant.

It was excellent. Efficient friendly service. The food was delicious. I ordered the Porterhouse steak and my wife order the fried shrimp. We will definitely go back. The only negative was the room temperature was a little on the cool side. I wished I had worn a jacket or sweater.

Extremely overpriced! Was seated for quite awhile and no one had greeted us. After saying something, got service, but the appetizer on the house was brought out AFTER our salads. The patrons are a very older crowd. (Like 50+ for every table) They even charge for soda refills! Who does that in 2018?!? I only go here when forced to by my elderly dad, but even he's beginning to see the light that there are way better restaurants! I really wish I liked this place because it's the closest restaurant to my house too!

I've been coming to The Paragon for a good steak since 1981. There's no place like it! It's been my favorite since the first time I dined there. I'm writing this review to tell you that, as well as inform you that Chris is one of your highly respected servers by myself as well as several of my friends. I always ask for him because of his overall happy upbeat disposition as well as his knowledge of the menu. Last night really showed me his high integrity and moral compass! When he left the check I looked over both tabs, the bar and then the food order. I added both tabs and left cash to cover it as well as my debit card because I was shy $10. and I wanted to ensure I left a 20% tip. Chris returned to my table shortly thereafter and told me I had left too much money. He explained that the two tabs were already added onto the food bill, that I should take some to of the cash back and not use my debit card, because I didn't need to. I was so grateful to him for being honest and so professional with me, he didn't make me feel small because I didn't understand that both tabs were added onto the food bill already. Such a great man! Chris is awesome! My hope is he advances as far as he can in his work with The Paragon and in his personal life! Thanks for employing such warm, friendly and HONEST people! I'll be telling all my friends about your outstanding customer service as well as your dining menu!

Sincerely,
Ginger Schafer

Paragon is a restaurant that has been a staple for Dayton if you are looking for an upscale meal that is a local company the paragon is a great company choice I have never been disappointed by any meal

In the past I have always been very pleased with the food and value at the Paragon. For the first time in many visits I was quite disappointed with my dinner.this evening about 6pm. They were out of their usual bread sticks and the served bread was very plain. My NY strip steak was cut much differently than usual, much too fatty and thin. If they didn t have the proper cut they should have told me that they were out and I would have chosen something different. It s almost like the chef was out tonight. I have always compared Paragon equal to the Pine Club until tonight. I was never disappointed like this at the Pine Club in the last 40 years. Both restaurants are a little pricy but the food has been worth it until tonight. I don t complain about a substandard meal because I don t want too wait for it to be done over. I just don t come back. I ll have to think hard about coming back very soon.

Food is amazing. My steak was probably one of the best I've ever had. Our waitress was so rude and disgruntled that her attitude really put a damper on the evening. When the manager came over to ask us how our meal was we told him the food was very good but our waitress was very rude and all he said was that "she's old... What can you do." This mentality is terrible. You have costumers paying almost $50 a person not only for the food but for an experience. This would have got 5 stars if it weren't for this poor experience. I get that this place is geared towards an older clientele but if a young waitressed acted this way towards these older guests everyone would be losing their minds.

The place feels very exclusive but not overly fancy. Their filet mignon is fantastic (a little goes a long way). Great char also on the lambchops, very flavorful. The servers were also very attentive. One of the best steak places I've been to.

As I walk into the Paragon, I feel like I'm coming home. The managers are always visible and they oversee a dedicated staff. The hostess, servers, and all take pride in the excellent food and the service they provide for every customer/visitor. Thanks to the owners for having such an excellent restaurant for Dayton customers.

Had a good experience here for the most part. Service was a little slow but the food made up for it. However, my side items were not good. Mashed potatoes had 0 flavor and the asparagus just tasted of cold olive oil and nothing else (no spices or anything just olive oil). The steak was excellent.

This is the hangout spot for every wealthy, white person over the age of 70. I'm also surprised that most of their customers can see in the extremely dark lighting they use. Honeslty, the owner must have some stock in Medicare because it is a dropped shrimp away from a slip and a 911 call. If you can get past the odd atmosphere, lopsided demographics, and hefty price tag, it can be quite an enjoyable place. The food taste great and there is usually a piano being played in the background. I'd say this place is perfect for grandma's birthday (provided you have a rich grandpa who will pay for it).

My wife and I had a wonderful experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the artichoke appetizer, steak, salmon and sides. The drinks were reasonably priced and the live music made the atmosphere even better. On a fairly busy night, our service was still prompt and courteous. Try the cheese cake and key lime pie for desert. Well worth it. Will most definitely visit again.

Amazing meal EVERY time! You can't find any better bang for your buck. The 7 layer salad is delicious. Atmosphere is a little more old school, but the service is always incredible and the food never disappoints.
