Pretty much the only one-stop sports equipment store in manhattan. Definitely pricey. But they match prices and often have flash sales. I go here for running supplies before every race I run. Great hiking gear too. Better than REI which has 80% of its inventory in jackets.

I ve been shopping here for years. My husband works in film industry and he bought all of his winter gears and fitness tools here. Their staffs used to be very knowledgeable and accommodating but the last few times I went in the past few months were disappointing at best. I was surprised how the quality of their customer service had declined. I asked for a size and the young staffs wouldn t even stop talking with his coworkers. He didn t even go all the way to the back room, and just came back and said they had nothing, then went back to his chit chatting. Not what I expect from Paragon or any other stores.

This place is huge and they have everything! If it's sports gear, they have it... Paragon can be a bit overwhelming. If you want quality sports gear, no matter your sport, go here. The employees generally know the sport that they're selling for. In ice skates, they skate. On tennis they play, etc. And know only do they sell the equipment, they service it too - they will string your racket and sharpen your skates.

I came here to buy my first snowboard. There weren't that many experts there so I had to wait for a while to get someone to help me. She was very knowledgeable any boarding but since she was knew, she was unfamiliar with store specific promotions. It was late at night so a manager wasn't around to help out either.

Edit: I came back with my girlfriend to get her a board. It was pretty empty and apparently only one snowboard sales person there, but he was working on some bindings in the back room. We were told he'd be over to help us asap, but we ended up waiting half an hour before giving up. Time to take our business to REI

They have a good variety of choices of sporting goods. Good sales going on.

Best sports store in NYC. The city really knows how to push out small businesses but paragon has held its ground and made itself a landmark. It's incredibly well stocked with three stories of gear. It is not the cheapest place to buy your stuff but if you need an expert's opinion.

Sporting goods store. It has articles for all sports from swimming to golf. Running shoes or gym with good prices.

Friendly staff, eager to assist. Overall good experience.

Great spot for sports gear. Been here a couple of times for boot fittings, skis, etc. Never had to wait for staff. Decently stocked.

Somehow expensive shop but the diversity of things is amazing for any sports lover or any person.

They have everything. I love that the sales people are so knowledgeable. They helped me with a new pair of running shoes.

I had an amazing experience here shopping for running shoes. Wesley took the time to get to know my foot type and running style. He suggested 5 different models to try. I tested them all on their treadmill and felt like I was able to make an educated decision on the best shoe for me. It feels great to have customer service like this and the confidence that I made the right choice. Paragon is going to be the only store for me going forward.

Odd layout (you end up walking up stairs) but the folks I had were friendly and helpful. I was in sneakers, bought a pair of Asics.

I think this is my favorite sporting place in the whole wide world. They have EVERYTHING. Never been dissapointed while shopping here. Great staff!

Can be tough to navigate inside and sometimes crowded, but makes up for it in sheer volume of available merchandise and top notch support from staff.

Amazing store in union square. I rate it three stars because a lot of things in the store are overpriced like their pocket knifes and clothing. If you need outdoor gear in NYC though... this is the place.

This store was great in it's hey days. However if you want to waste time and effort. On running shoes, hiking and time permits snow boots. Then this is the best place to go. They'll make an attempt to see what they have and tell you it's good.. I want ed to give the store one more chance. I figured you can't mess up selling hockey skates. Let me say they will try to sell you what ever they have in stock. There is no skate warmer .When I asked about CCM skates I got a vague look. At this point I walked out and headed out and upstate, NEW YORK

the store has everything for hiking or winter sports. they range from clothing from ems to marmot parkas. the staff is pretty good and the service is great also. its some what of a big store.

An extremely overpriced sportswear store and with lukewarm service. I may go there to check out or try out the items I'm interested, but will purchase elsewhere for sure.

Unlike Modell's, this is an actual sporting goods store. They have equipment for playing many sports -- and more equipment that sporty clothing. I got cleats here, and there were several options to try on at different price points. While I was trying them on, the employee helped a kid and his mom pick out a correctly sized baseball bat and glove, working within their budget and the instructions from the baseball team. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

The only drawback is the building is a bit of a maze - try to remember how you went in, or it'll be hard to get back to the registers and exit!

Its a great shoot to buy all high quality and authentic sporting and adventure goods. They sell all kind of years and accessories you can think of, as well as sports jerseys of various popular sports, clubs and country.

There's Paragon, and then there's everywhere else, especially if you live within the New York area. If you want a wide variety of quality professional equipment / outerwear, this is the store you go to. And the styles are always up to date. I wouldn't even buy a jump rope anywhere else. And they even sell that in a variety of stages! ( beginner to advanced ) I have been shopping at Paragon for DECADES, I receive emails whenever they have any new sales on the horizon, and anyone who asks me for my opinion on where to buy anything sports related, I tell them without any hesitation to go to Paragon. It's a no - brainer.

The tennis section is great. Elizabeth is amazing and has a lot of knowladge regarding all tennis gears. If you are trying to find the best tennis gear she will help you. You can get your permit there as well.

Awesome experience shopping here! Down by the ski boots department there is a guy Ralston, (not sure how to spell his name) he knows his stuff, understands your needs, plus he makes your shopping experience pleasant!

Was looking all over NYC for a place that sell barefoot sneakers, and finally checked out this spot and was surprised they had vibram, Merrell and vivo barefoot. Great selection, people on the sales floor we're very friendly, alot of cool stuff here.

I went in here for the first time the day before my first NYC marathon. It was insanely busy but somehow there were a lot of salespeople available for consultation (I needed a running belt for my phone and house keys) and the line moved really fast. The experience was so nice that I went back soon after and enjoyed shopping there once again. Contrary to a Modells, the people working there all seems genuinely invested in the lifestyle, care about their jobs and about making and keeping customers happy. How refreshing!

Amendment: I went back twice since this review and they've been the most wonderfully helpful salespeople. I picked out a great dri fit shirt for my boyfriend and cycling shoes for myself. David in the cycling department is a GEM and I would have been lost without him. He helped me get the right fit on my shoes for my cycling style and level (beginning/intermediate and indoor only) and I'm so so happy with them.

Paragon is a great outdoors sporting goods store. They have a lot of product in that store. Can get crowded, some prices are way too high.

One of the premiere consumer source for sportswear and accessories in NYC (not a small feat). variety is great for the space available. And when things are discounted they can be HUGELY discounted; otherwise it can be (case by case) from fair to pricy, really. a great store, highly recommended.

Got my tennis permit here on the same day. With it I got 20% off other purchases in the tennis department.

Purchased due to price and shipping date. Was to get today Friday 22nd ordered Tuesday 19th - guaranteed . Purchased. Checked today. Delivery date January 5th.

The item I was looking for was found without any help from the store staff! No one even asked may I help you. The backpack section where I was at had three sales people and they were all chatting with each other. Not one sales person came over to help (I was there for 15 minutes) or assist? This kind of work practice is why they will lose my business. I made my purchase online at a better price! Goodbye forever!

The lady that works in the fitting area for women's leggings was amazing. She was really knowledgeable also the men's shoes Dept had amazing selection. Thank you for caring dansko shoes

NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.
I called for some information on the Fjallraven Kanken Backpacks and supposedly was transferred to the person in that department.
He knew nothing about what I wanted.

Five days after the, "your product has shipped" email, I called... still not shipped!!! The label was "created" five days prior and I was expecting my item to be delivered that day... but instead it had not actually been shipped. The representative said they were "busy".

Great old line store. Last of it's kind. Very helpful staff. Checked on line before going in to see stock, always a good idea and due to slow pandemic business not accurate but still helpful. Definitely use hand sanitizer when u enter as you will be touching things you won't buy. Please support them as they are a worthy business.

You'd be hard-pressed to find another sporting goods store with such reasonable prices in NYC. However, the basement smells like someone is going around spraying air freshener every 10 minutes. Lines can get a bit unwieldy on weekends.

One of the security guards is a total jerk! He thinks everyone is stealing and was very rude to me. I spoke to the manager about his behavior.

I was looking for a jacket for my 9 year old and There's barely anything there. Still I found one, but it all became confusing at one point. So... It wasn't like this last year but probably due to the pandemic. However I would like to stress that NYC has changed dramatically. It no longer had that quiet but friendly atmosphere. It seems that there's a small current of anger and frustration bubbling beneath the surface.

Very profession shop.
I went there 2 years ago to have my ski mounted. This year, I got a new pair of skies, I went to the store with my old boots, and ended with getting a pair of new "head" boots with 20% off which fit much better(Thanks to Shermecy if I got the name right, you are really professional and knowledgable), and I got the mounting for free which saved me 80 bucks. I also got a lovely ski pant from Picture! Love it, Stacy was very helpful in finding me all the cool pants which I preferred with prints, bright color and cool design, she is just so patient and nice, she also recommended me to get the Stance socks in the end. I also got the gift cards. $10 gift card for every $100 you spent, however, you can't use on the same day though. Good experience this year, really learnt a lot!

Overall, my favorite sports store in New York so far.

Always has good experiences until now. I got a coupon after an online purchase for 15% off. Of course, when I actually come into the store to use it, the items I want to buy are exceptions and can't discounted (tennis strings). Employees were unfriendly, unhelpful, and said they couldn't tell me what was and wasn't ok the list of items I could actually use it on. Lucky for me I found it cheaper online and with cash back. This has just made it clear that loyalty gets you nowhere! Always check online, that's what I learned.

Paragon is not going to be your best bet if you are shopping for price but if you want quality and value for you money, then Paragon is for you. They only carry the best brands. Mind you, I doubt you need a beanie that costs $30 but if you care about the way its woven and what not, well then Each department is well stocked and you can find every sport imaginable here. Paragon is a department store. The lines are always long and the store is bustling with customers. Great location by Union Square and there is a bathroom downstairs. Never a line it s just the smallest bathroom on Earth.

Buyer beware: DO NOT come here to get your skis mounted/edged or waxed. The people in the basement that work in the ski department know NOTHING and will end up drilling/tapping your skis not to spec and mess things up permanently. There s especially one guy that could give fewer f**** about helping you and really does not want to work there. Just Google ski shops in Manhattan and you ll find much better options. This place is mostly tailored toward being a tourist trap (mostly Europeans just visiting, not knowing about their surrounds). Support the smaller ski shops that actually know why they re doing and actually give a f***.

Had my son fitted for a calf sleeve but got home and him try it own only for him not able to get it over his foot. Going back to get the large which I was talked out of getting. Good spot for emergency purchases if you have race soon.

My favourite sports store in Manhattan. They have everything for every season. i buy my summer running and workout gear here, along with my winter snow gear. Great quality products, great service, good prices.

The best thing about paragon are its employees. They are pretty friendly and very helpful. Thankfully a lot of them are runners or sport players so they know how you feel and can really help you find what you're looking for. The service they offer you really pays off when buying a new pair of running shoes.

The selection is great and the guys that helped us *did* know what they were talking about but the overall customer service left much to be desired. I wasn't sure if the two guys helping us (one was the "manager)" were complete airheads or high as a kite on drugs. They also took forever to set up my husband's bindings; partly because they were space cadets and partly because they kept stopping to chat and.or flirt with the female employees. It took over 3 hrs to buy snow boots and bindings and as we went to leave we realized they were not on correctly and had to wait even longer for them to fix it.

Paragon is a great place to shop for sporting equipment and sportswear. This is a department store and they've got a lot to choose from. Nice selection of jackets, shoes, sunglasses, clothing. There are sales and you could do well. Fitting rooms and a bathroom located downstairs for your convenience.
