Amazing and delicious hot/cold Italian sandwiches ...

Amazing and delicious hot/cold Italian sandwiches and mediocre desserts in a cafe atmosphere inside with street side seating during the warmer months. Worst part is they stop serving sandwiches at 8 or 9pm even if the place is still open for a few more hours.

Dry black forest cake, lot of frosting which made it a little bit better. Flavor was good though but still I did not really enjoy it. Horrible tiramisu, cloying, very unpleasant. Wife ate only part of her strawberry shortcake before leaving the rest. The only redeeming factor is that it is all quite cheap...

Paneantico is a neighborhood bakery that puts out really good sandwiches and coffee, cakes and deserts. The family atmosphere is obvious as one walks through the door, it's the kind of place where you meet old friends who grew up in the neighborhood and have been coming here for years. I have been here for breakfast and lunch and both times have been great. I had the capicola sandwich and I requested arugula but they were out of it. They use high quality meats and the bread is really soft and crispy, made in-house. The bacon-egg-cheese for breakfast was also great. Coffee has been superb both times. The staff are very attentive and nice, prices are ok and the restaurant is clean and it smells great, like a bakery. It can be crowded at times and it is not very big.

As a native Bay Ridgian, I've been enjoying Paneantico for decades. I've brought their cheesecake with me from Vermont to North Carolina and it's always a great hit. So fresh, moist and decadent. I also recommend any of their sandwiches on brick oven bread but the B75 is my favorite. One of my go-to spots in the neighborhood.

The food is good, not great. I like the coffee and the pastries are delicious but I rarely go here because service is horrible. I have yet to encounter a friendly waitress, server, or employee of any sort for that matter at this place!

I really love the food and desserts at Paneantico. I was born and raised in Bay Ridge and this place is a go to for my siblings and I. The service is terrible though and it gets worse every time I go back and tonight was my limit. I have worked as a busser, server, hostess, and barista and understand that it can be demanding but we got the wrong sandwich today and asked for water for four people. We got three waters and didn't mention anything about the sandwich because the service is so slow and we were hungry. The blonde barista with straight hair was especially rude even though we did not talk to her or really interact. She kept looking at my table and glaring while we patiently waited 15 minutes for a black coffee and hot chocolate while the three baristas joked and played on their phones. I will say that the two girls dressed in black on the floor we the only ones actually working. Everyone I know loves the food at this place but knows the service is terrible.

Great Italian Desserts, Coffee, they serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. However , it's very crowded. They do have outdoor seating with Umbrellas. They make the BEST PIZZA RUSTICA for Easter, they have a whole lot to choose from of Italian Heros, they also have Pizza and their fried fish and Broccoli Rabe is fantastic as well as their other hot foods. It is wheelchair and Walker accessible but like I said it's always crowded and not enough room as the tables are squeezed in. But their is Take-out. The only sad thing is they do not have enough people behind the counter and over work them. They also have Catering.

Excellence, with disclaimer. Paneantico has truly excellent offerings, five star offerings, to be sure, but it can't always be trusted, so caveat emptor: choose with care.

First and foremost is its brick-oven bread, which I daresay is not easily rivaled even in Italy itself. The Old World authenticity of taste and texture is singularly excellent, and the stuff freezes and reheats beautifully, so stock up. They also make a great variety of delicious sandwiches with it on site, sandwiches so generously stuffed with high quality stuff that one can feed 2 people on 1, or even 4 ladies on a diet!. Some of their Italian biscotti can boast the same singular excellence, in particular their traditional quaresimali (almond biscotti), well worth the high price because of the almond flour used to make them. Their sesame seed biscotti are likewise a personal favorite and staple. On the light side, their foccaccie are consistently delicious--here, you can trust your eyes.

Their cakes and pastries don't win my eye, with some notable exceptions: They make an AWESOME Tres Leches cake (yes, even though it isn't Italian), which you generally have to order in advance--a real crowd-pleaser well worth the trouble and high price for special occasions. Also special, I've recently learned, are their seasonal St. Joseph's pastries, in particular their ricotta ones. I've been tempted by the sight of their big tiramisu cake slices, but haven't chanced one yet. When their sfogliatelle are fresh, they too are great. Except, they're willing to sell you stale ones, and I for one can't tell just by sight whether or not they are fresh. The disappiontment is so great when they're not, I've actually thrown some away, and nowadays I won't buy one unless I see with my own eyes the tray being carried from up from the kitchen. Hot out of the oven, they're outstanding. Why marr such excellence with selling stale ones? Yet they do.

The deli counter offers excellent cold offerings (and the trays of hot foods are eye-catching too, although I've only tried the delicious baked clams). The deli olives are consistently highest quality. The gigantic Sicilian riceballs heat up delicious. The eggplant caponata is reliably tasty, as is the fava and chick pea salads--rustic done right. The fresh mozzarella is likewise reliable, and reliably delicious in Paneantico's sandwiches sundry. So, why not five stars? Because getting service is challenging, to say the least. Space is tight and there's only one long counter and one long line for all offerings: deli, bread, and pastries. The deli guys are busy with both in-house and take-out orders of food, so that getting their attention is not easy, and they don't make it easy. If you manage to get your order across to them through the bustle, it gets passed along to the bakery girls, who ring it up along with whatever you may order from their end. Either way, you wait the line--no jumping over the guy in front of you with his multitudinous order (that would be me).

So, maybe because they're overworked, the staff can't always be trusted. They can't be blamed for the stale sfogliatelle mentioned above, but what about the stale sandwich they sold me 5 minutes before closing, which I threw in the garbage? Why not just tell me it's too late to make my favorite fried cutlets with broccoli di rabe and mozzarella? Or when I make a point of saying I want the ricotta St. Joseph's pastries, what do I do with the 4 yellow-cream ones I get instead, when no one on Easter will eat them? Throw them away, because do I really want to wait in line again to return them? No, I do not.

So, brace yourself for this excellence, and take care how you choose. To be sure, it's excellence worth the risk, just not worthy 5 stars.

I waited 20 minutes and just left this place without eating anything. I had to wave down a waitress to bring a menu, which she never brought. Finally after seeing others arrive after me, greeted immediately and order, I realized that I was not going to be waited on. I went in to let them know I had not received service and was told that I needed to speak to a manager. The manager was hiding behind the counter and on the phone, so I had to wait again to speak to him. Alas, I could not wait any longer, hence the review! I have eaten here numerous times before and liked the breads, coffee and salads, but this was by far the worst service, and lack thereof, ever!

A great neighborhood destination for authentic Italian specialties. Paneantico offers breakfast, lunch and dinner to stay or go. A catering menu is also available for those times when cooking is too challenging.

Nice breakfast and lunch place with great bagels, breads, salads and coffee. Love their grilled chicken salad with balsamic glaze. The service isn't always the best, but the food is good and the prices are reasonable.

Excellent sandwich and pastry spot. Try their roost beef, it's excellent. They use excellent brick oven and Italian bread. Lots of cookies and pastry options at this place. You get a lot of value here, prices are reasonable and the portions are big.

If you want to get the real feel like you re in Italy inside of Brooklyn New York. this is where you go. They have great fresh food and a wide variety of desserts. their Italian bread is always fresher than fresh. Everybody in the neighborhood goes to this place for their coffee as well. I take my dad here on a regular to get breakfast. It s a corner spot and they have outdoor seating.

I visit this place sparingly. The sandwiches and variety of coffee is very good. However, attention to detail and providing stellar service as been on a decline as of recent. For example, I arrived this evening at 9:00 pm with two other individuals and a small dog, I asked the server "what time will the place close" she replied with "10 pm". However, the staff was clearly wrapping up by clearing the tables and cleaning up. I asked if we use the seating outside--the tables were already moved and stacked on top of each other--the server declined our request. We left disappointed.

We've ordered, with many different people, to go and eaten at a table. Always on point. Always delicious. Always expect the best. .
Everything from soups to sandwiches to different varieties of meals is good.

One of my friends had an issue 1x. The person who considered herself a manager charged way to much for an order. Long story short, she was superceded and he was given a credit and another sandwich. That's why I stated always.

Haven't tried pastries but I've been told they're good. Have also been told that the odds there is better than pizzeria pizza!

It's a combination of Fast Food Restaurant and Pastry shop. Good food (fresh) ; service Ok... overcrowded and noisy. In good weather outside seating is available. However, there is an unpleasant smell from the sewer most of the times.

This place is always Poppin off! Awesome food, pastries and desserts. Expect a line out the door, (especially on holidays) but well worth the wait. Love their sfogliatelles and Rum Baba pastries!

Yum.
