Oxford Companies Review

Laundry services are one washer and one dryer in another building. This single set of laundry machines is shared by two whole buildings. Besides that, the apartment is very nice. Love the floor to ceiling windows

So far my experience has been wonderful. I appreciate the responsiveness of Oxford when it has come to maintenance requests. I really enjoy my apartment and its level of energy efficiency.

I am a student at the University of Michigan and pay for my housing through student loans which need to be allocated by the university. The loans were delayed and I was late on rent but was in contact with oxford to let them know that it was coming late and I would pay them promptly, in addition with any late fees. After I had already paid, someone came to my door about a week later summoning me to court for the rent I had already paid. Kris, I'm assuming the accounting guy, was extremely rude over the phone and proceeded to argue with me saying that I did not inform them the money would be late. Additionally, they are trying to charge me hundreds of dollars in court fines which were completely unnecessary in the first place. Will not be renting from these guys next year if they do not resolve this issue.

Their management is terribly inconsistent and bureaucratic. It seems difficult for them to either establish standard practices, adhere to them, or both. Make sure to record anything a representative of the company says if you decide to rent from them. It will provide proof for you and probably make them better as a company eventually.

This company is a nightmare. Any time there was an issue, they had a delayed and usually unhelpful response. They never take responsibility for any mistakes that they make. For example, while I was out of town, the power to my apartment was accidentally turned off my a maintenance guy while he was fixing a problem with another apartment in my building. When I got home, I had no power and my fridge/freezer had completely defroated- leaving rotten food and smelly water that seeped into the carpet. No one came to take care of it until two days later and although it was their mistake, I was never compensated for the $200 worth of food that was ruined and my carpet smelled like garbage for weeks. Another time they were fixing the drywall in my studio apartment and ruined my clothes because they didn't cover any of my things up. I was forced to stay in a hotel room and was never compensated for the hotel or the dry cleaning bill. My floor and counters were left covered in rocks and dust.

Moved into my apartment with Oxford last month and has been nothing but a great experience !

I had a great experience with Oxford! As a resident, I especially noticed that the maintenance staff was exceptional! One time, I needed immediate assistance with the lock on my apartment door, and a maintenance staff member was on-site within minutes to assist me! I was very impressed with the level of friendliness and professionalism from all staff! I'd highly recommend Oxford!

I've never lived in a place that has this good of a maintenance team. Anytime something breaks, I almost always have it fixed by the next day. It's been a very nice change of pace.

They manage housing well, but they can be difficult to get into contact with.

Endlessly rude and bureaucratic. They realize that many of their customers are students and obviously do not respect them. Their billing service is terrible, the secretaries are rude, and the maintenance men are extremely slow to respond. Furthermore, they do not take proper care of their buildings for what they charge in rent.

Avoid if at all possible.

I currently live at an Oxford property on central campus and have had a great experience. Maintenance has always taken care of the apartments and responded to request in a timely fashion. Ms. Landeta in the office has always been a great also! She just helped me add and remove roommate to my renewal! Overall a great experience with Oxford!

Oxford needs to do some research to find a better company to clear the snow and ice from all of their properties. It has been so terrible with the clearing services, I wonder how Oxford isn't getting over 100 calls a day about their terrible vendor for clearing snow and ice.

I have a duplex in Ann Arbor managed by them, horrible experience for past two year, does't reply my emails, late mortgage payment cost late fees, miss statement report every month, the statement report is printed in paper and then scan and send to you, all the descriptions on the report are cut to half, it's hard for you to figure out what cost you(see picture). also they charge $10/ month bank fee for keep tenants deposit. the best part, with all these horrible server, they even send me a email and request me to rate them "Best of Ann arbor"! Are you kidding me? I finally can't handle anymore, switch to another pm company in Ann Arbor. for anyone who looking at this, don't judge them by my review, do your own home work, make your decision wisely.

Horrible, unhelpful and they are extremely unorganized. Their websites and communication is atrocious.

If I could give less then one star I would. They may actually be the worst company to rent from in Ann Arbor. The receptionists are okay over all though I'm not convinced that they actually follow through on everything they say they will. I'm sure they deal with plenty of obnoxious students who ruin properties but that doesn't excuse them treating tenants like trash. When we first moved in the maintenance was awful. They would not follow through on requests. And they would show up without notice for non emergency situations biweekly. Sometimes without even knocking. They'd just walk right in. As a young woman who was often home alone that was terrifying. The past year the maintenance service has improved some what. No more barging in at least. But still seems like the jobs that get done are not done properly. The office staff seems a little better but still not up to basic standards. I don't expect much from rental companies. But you can expect even less from Oxford.

Oxford is engaged with residents and will plan accordingly with resident s schedules for maintenance/repairs

These people are scam and over step there boundaries. They are also verry rude terrible customer service.

This past year has been my first year living in an Oxford Property Management rental. After living one stressful 45-minute daily commute to and from work in downtown Ann Arbor, I was ready to find a place to live in town. Oxford had a number of different properties available and I found just the right one bed room which was a 6 minute walk away from work, my favorite restaurants (Jerusalem Garden among others!), and entrepreneurial resources in downtown AA. Oxford does an amazing same-day job with most maintenance such as when my stove wasn't working or my pipes froze during the cold spell in February. Their staff, whether in the office or unlocking the apartment door or running maintenance, are super personable and friendly! One time I locked myself out and ran to the office (after hours) and the fellow working after hours took it upon himself to get the onsite guy to drive over to my apartment and help me unlock it within 15 minutes. They have also moved a number of services online including bill pay and maintenance request; this definitely helps make life way more convenient. Yes there is a fee for the online payment system, but you can also drop off your payment in person if you wish to avoid the fee. The attention to detail and convenience is what helps set Oxford apart.

Overall, I've had a pretty good experience. It would have been a 5-star experience except for the fact that (until last week) the front and back doors of my building would never lock and non-residents would be in the building a lot. The police were called twice in one day because of a transient woman that slept overnight in my hallway and for sorting trash in the hallway as well. Glad maintenance got around to fixing the issue.

Oxford has always been a great landlord! Our son rented a studio, and we ended up having our other son rent after that! Great experience, the office staff is great and any maintenance issues we had were completed right away!

Duke Roofing provides roofing services for Oxford. The employees are great to work with and we always appreciate how prompt Oxford is in remitting payment.

I am currently locked out of my room because they locked the door during a showing to potential tenants (they do that once every two weeks by the way) and never bothered to give me my own room key.

Edit: changed the rating because they were quick to respond to my complaint, but still weird that had to be done.

Neighborhood Roofing is a roofing subcontractor for Oxford Companies and Oxford has been great to work with, we've had nothing but great experiences with them! Oxford is always professional, friendly and responsive when using our roofing services. We would most definitely recommend working with Oxford Companies.

Had a great experience when my boyfriend and I lived with Oxford- maintenance was taken care of in a timely and professional manner and we found an awesome apartment that fit exactly what we were looking for close to Ross. Online payments were very convenient and issues were resolved quickly. Highly recommend!

They do all types of property management in Ann Arbor.

I haven't even lived with Oxford, and they're still terrible. I signed a lease, was told I would receive a discount and have extended time to pay for my security deposit: and was lied to. It's been 4 days, still haven't heard back from anyone in the office. They're rude, short, and inconsistent.

Oxford is our landlord and they did the build out for our business. It turned out beautiful! They've been attentive to our needs. I recommend working with them if you are a business. They will try their best to make sure you are happy and have what you need.

It's been an interesting two years with Oxford. I didn't hate it, but they were annoying to deal with. 1) They are super concerned with their image and frequently offer Amazon gift cards for people who are willing to write positive reviews about them on social media and other websites. Keep that in mind as you read reviews. Note the number of 5-star reviews on Google from people who only have ever written one or two reviews. 2) They are super stingy and fight for every dollar. The water heater in my building broke 4 times in 3 months before they were finally convinced to replace it. Asked about a refund, heard nothing back. 3) On a positive note, the maintenance team is very responsive to requests and will often fix things the next day. Just wish Oxford would take more time and do more preventative maintenance, rather than just perform cheap fixes on things that will break again.

Apartment is fine (definitely not worth the price, but it's Ann Arbor). My compliant is that they are incredibly inflexible and if you ask them for anything that they're not contractually or legally obligated to do, they have no problem shutting you down and informing you that "that's just the way we do it." They nickel and dime for everything as well.

They take advantage of students who have very little power to change their situations.

I love my apartment & its location; the kitchen is modern & the living room is large and spacious. We had a one-time issue with bats and heat first semester, but the emergency maintenance team was quick on their feet to help.

Place was filthy and a rat hole. Never fixed items on the initial repair list and then tried to charge us for it.
Run--do not rent from this organization.

There was a transfer of ownership of the house we rented. Oxford managed the house. After we moved out, they deducted 50% of our deposit for no reason. That is over 50% deduction. Among the items charged to us were utilities (lease states that landlord pays utilities), removing furniture (house was furnished when we moved in, so we did NOT remove anything) and removing trash and misc items (there were already stuff in the basement when we moved in so it was not our responsibility to remove them). The previous owners of the house did not maintain the house properly and Oxford is charging all the repair cost on us. This company is horrible.

We have done business with Oxford for quite some time, and they are incredibly courteous and professional. Dealing with their staff has been nothing short of an extremely pleasant experience. Thank you guys for the effort you put into having these qualities. We hope to continue doing business for more years to come.

The opportunity to live in a well maintained and affordable duplex in Water Hill is rare -it s great that Oxford keeps these opportunities for renters in highly sought after neighborhoods mostly comprised of single family homes.

The people of Oxford couldn't have been anymore helpful with the rental process, best landlord i have ever had, would highly recommend them to all parties looking to rent!

Great place to work! Wonderful people to be around. Everyone here is dedicated to their craft, and firmly focused on improving our buildings and our community. Kudos to the CREW!

I am a student at Pksa karate Ann Arbor and they were leading a space in one of Oxford Companies buildings. They have been there for almost 7 years and after this pandemic they were told that their lease will not be renewed because they are slowing another company to expand. This was terrible news for pksa Ann Arbor and all of its instructors and students. Many students have been using Pksa as a safe space where they feel welcomed. This was more than just a leased space for us. This was a second home. Money has become tight for pksa Ann Arbor therefore they could not find another place to be some the new pksa Ann Arbor. Many students will it be able to go to the other Ann Arbor school because of transportation and distance reasons. No one at Oxford Companies cares about us all they care about is money. They don t care that they just destroyed a community they just care that they re pockets are a little heavier.

I have lived with Oxford for 2 years and we are staying for my senior year as well! We have had nothing but a great experience with our house so far. Love the maintenance guys they are fast and super nice.

Impossible to get a hold of anyone. The leasing agent does not answer when you call them directly, nor do they return your call when you leave a message. When you call their main office, the secretary will only direct you to your leasing agent which then goes straight to voicemail and no returned call. I have never dealt with a company that is so incredibly hard to communicate with. Do not do business with Oxford

Oxford is not good at handling maintenance issues. My apartment has had an open maintenance request for furniture removal for the past 5 months, and even though we have routinely followed up with Oxford, they keep ignoring it, even though we paid for the moving service to be performed.
They charged us a late fee when we had a credit on the account, and it took a little over a month for the fee to be reimbursed.
They aren't the worst landlords out there, but living in one of their locations will absolutely be frustrating. Avoid if possible.
