Helpful staff, great selection great prices.nice set up

Beautiful selection of Christmas Trees. Prices compare to other stores, but quality much better. Employees were friendly and helpful, and put a fresh cut on the trunk. I also received a 20 % discount.

I found the flowers very beautiful. However not one person could help me with particular plants I wanted. I was sent to a couple of gentleman. They could answer my questions about the flowers I was looking for. But they were very rude, seriously lacking customer service. He was also very rude to employees. He was the guy walking around with clipboard. My visit was on April 30th.

I am sure they have Beautiful flowers plants trees and all of the above but Owen's is known all over Bloomington Normal to be the absolute worst place to work because of how they treat their employees. They should be absolutely ashamed of the way they treat people. My son was one.

Mark, retail manager is a true professional. Answered multiple questions and was patient with my lack of knowledge. Good, healthy stock.

Ordered from one of their subsidiaries (Burgess Seed) back on 5/1/2020, and nothing but busy signal on phone numbers provided on direct website. And, their people answering emails about shipping complaints and refund request are extremely rude. They double charged my card - once on 5/1/2020, and again 5/26/2020 for $599 each. And, I just receive something from them 7/6/2020 with damaged packaging and note on tag saying some will not be shipped until spring 2021. I requested a refund back in mid-May, and they gave lame excuses and told me they did not know how to refund my account or cancel my order. But yet, they have several companies associated with their organization. Not very pleasant experience - plants received are dead, damaged, and poked through the packaging. No protection from shipping. And, way too late in year to plant these. I also am refusing the order, as I was not home to reject it originally. These are of no value - $600 order, got charged double and very poor service. no one there seems to care about customers or how unethical they are in business practices.

An update 7/8/2020 - talked to a supposed manager named Judy today and she was very rude and did not care how long it takes for us to get our orders. she claims their policy is for cancellation requests in writing and that all phones are working - all you get at burgess is busy signal since May, and same with their other online fraud fronts. They also fraudulently took money out and refused my refund because they scammed me out of the original items I ordered over 2 months ago. Still don't have what I ordered. I refused the order, and Judy said too bad, although Angie (another manager) told me to return the items for a refund. So, who am I supposed to believe. I've since escalated a bank investigation against these frauds, and will be reporting to attorney general tomorrow and prosecutor. Also, will be starting social media campaign to expose these frauds for who they are. I'll contact their local media as well in the days to come. I was patient earlier, but that is gone with the rude people and excuses and their illegal and unethical fraudulent business! I think everyone needs to see how these people steal money and scam people across the country. They cannot even keep their promise for satisfaction. Or, does that not apply whenever convenient for the company? STAY AWAY!! BEWARE OF THESE SCAMMERS!!!

**FRAUD Operates under an online scam called directgradening .Never received product from them and could not get ahold of them back in June. July we filed a chargeback with our bank and the credit was made permanent in October. The company then charged my account again today with no permission nor purchase made. Completely fraudulent and will be informing the Illinois Attorney General of their fraudulent/criminal activity.

Was very disappointed in my get well flower arrangement.

Owen Nursery is the parent company of Direct Gardening. Customer service is terrible, already 7 weeks and no product delivery. Owen's customer service team blames it on COVID-19 but still takes orders that cannot be filled in a timely manner. Stay away from this business until they improve their business practices.

Had most of what I wanted, prices were ok. Some plants very picked over. No jalapeno peppers.

Regular customer over the years. Good customer service and adequate professional services to answer and discuss advice on planting and plant care. Very good warranty on perennials and trees. Great greenhouses.

Best place to get a Christmas tree and go all Clark Griswold. Great for trees and shrubberies too.

Beautiful annual baskets. Herbs left something to be desired in both variety and price. Great varieties of geraniums and bedding plants.

Only place that has colored Christmas trees expensive but worth it

I interviewed for a position here and also bought a Monstera plant. Within 5 minutes of meeting the hiring manager, Carol, she began disrespecting me by yelling at me about another employees application which had nothing to do with me. The production room was like a slave mill. I also suspect the Monstera I bought has root rot although I hope not because they do not honor their warranties either.

The florist went out of her way to fancy up a plant I bought for my cousins funeral. They were a little expensive but I will come back

They can get really busy, even finding a parking spot can be a challenge.

There is a great selection to choose from. The staff is super helpful and knowledgeable. It's a bit difficult to keep track of their changing business hours, but you can always call ahead.

Something needs to be done about how they treat their employees. You never know what someone is dealing with in their life and when management feels they have the right to be so unprofessional, disrespectful and hurtful to the employees, that should not be tolerated. I will never shop here again after what I ve heard about how several employees ( past and present) are being treated. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Was just there getting my tree as I do every year. Though, this year none of my family could come along. Your employee, Harold did a great job helping me! Great customer service. Didn t feel like I was by myself picking out our tree. Thanks Owens and Harold!

Great places to buy a christmas tree and get annuals in spring

I was just in Owens nursery and the workers on the floor were rude and did not attempt social distancing at all. They up beside you and into you, as well as worked over you. Most did not have masks, and the ones who did had them down around their neck. No hand sanitizer at the check out for cashier to use between customers. No one should go there if they are concerned for their health. I won't be going back. Sorry I couldn't give a "0" rating.

We make a trip to Owen's every year on Mother's day to purchase flower and vegetable plants. Decent prices and knowledgeable staff. Don't see something your looking for? Ask service counter to see thier catalog selection, they have everything!

Every plant purchased there was teeming with spider mites.

This place works with an online retailer called direct gardening that s an online scam. They don t send plants and if they do (from other reviews) they re already dead. Don t support this company or their sister company the online scammers Direct Gardening. Direct gardening s number is always busy also, because they re always on the phone they said . I found this out by calling Owens gardening and they transferred me to direct gardening.

They offer a large selection of plants, trees and shrubs

A very good selection of plants, and they take good care of them. The staff is helpful, too. On the downside, their inventory is pretty much the same as what other places in town have. Nevertheless, if you live on the south side of town, this is a good nursery to get your plants.

if you have a child with disabilities or just low self esteem possible from bullying this is not the place to work. The shipping manager yells and belittles you if you are slow even on your first day while training. this abuse in my opinion has been going on far to long by carol and owens tolerates it. I posted a status online and was shocked about other's stories while working there and how many came forward to tell me it this has been going on for over 20 years with this lady

This place has tons of flowers,shrubs,trees and hanging plants. There staff is friendly and helpful. Ailes are too close and signs are posted everywhere telling customers not to change or enter the restricted aisles, yet there are never enough people to help you when you need it not whenever they get around to it. Prices are usually better than the two other nurseries. I buy about $250 worth of plants, seeds and supplies each year.

The people who work here are so knowledgable about what will work in what area of my home. They always make the time to help me find what I want and will willingly tell the customer if something won't work well in their yard, even at the expense of not making a larger sale. They aren't going to waste my money or time. Pricing is very reasonable and my plants have all been happy and healthy. I almost exclusively go here now for my plant needs and wants.

Love this nursery my girlfriends and I drive an hour every may to buy plants we go home with a car load! Staff is very helpful! Prices ore great! Highly recommend!

Love this place. You can buy item there or order whatever you need. They are very knowledgeable and helpful.

I went to purchase a fresh tree the weekend after Thanksgiving, and struggled to find someone friendly to help me. The manager or owner was rude and completely unhelpful and because I wanted a tree, I pursued finding a friendly employee. A few days after bringing my tree home, our heat went out and had to leave for over a week, but came in and out at least 2x a day to feed our pets and water our tree, both morning and evening. Just this past weekend we were able to get back into our home and of course began to decorate our tree. To our shock, once touching it the needles fell off in bunches. We couldn t believe it. We continued to try to put lights on it, but it kept loosing needles. I called Owen Nursey and the manager answered the phone, I began to explain everything, including offering to give him the City s number to verify the lack of heat, which can often be the problem of needles falling. So many needles fell off as though it was a tree in January. But all he kept saying is we don t guarantee our trees but said if I brought it in, he d replace it. I said, you re going to make us take it down, drag it out to the car, load it and drive it back there? After we ve been displaced from our home for over a week? I said, can t you just credit my card 10, 20, 30, 50%? Oh we don t guarantee our trees So I said, you don t guarantee your trees, but if we did all that work to bring it in, you d replace it? Meaning you would be loosing money by giving us another tree?? You won t discount the tree we have, even a mere 10%, providing some good CUSTOMER SERVICE, but loose money by giving us another tree?? How is that not guaranteeing your trees?? You won t guarantee it, but will replace?? HOW DOES THAT MAKE ANY SENSE?? Won t discount the current tree, even by a mere 10%, but would make us bring it in and get a different one. What if that one dropped an abundance of needles too?? How does that make sense or good customer service?? I then said I am going to post this terrible experience and to make sure the public knows how awful you are and how you CLEARLY CONTRADICT yourself. My suggestion, DON T even bother buying your tree there.

I have heard nothing but terrible about this place, both from being a sweatshop to employees (treating them like slaves) and to being inaccurate and too costly to fix their mistake on wedding flowers. I would never shop there.

My manager asked me to get a plant to a business within a few hours and the lady at Owen's was ON it. She called to let me know she was working on it and it would be there by the time I needed. A picture was even sent to me once it was delivered. Thank you for the amazing customer service! I would recommend to anyone.

Not happy , an displeased with this place, I ordered plants from here an 3 weeks an 2 months later they come dead , hay did you ever heir of UP,s or FedEx . U.s.mail sucks why do you people send anything u.s.mail

We come here year after year to get our Christmas tree you would think the employees get commission from helping you find the perfect tree by the customer service they give everyone willing to hold a tree so you can get a good look at it. We really appreciate the yearly discount we receive from them also. It was a surprise to not as many trees as usual but it is a short season and everyone must got there trees right after turkey day.

It's been a year and I'm again shocked at the supply and honestly the prices. 4.95 for perennials is a great price. Very grateful for the game washing stations located around the property.

Absolute worst mail order nursery! The "bare root" stock I ordered arrived as dried up sticks. The live plants were molded or shriveled up lumps of brown...stuff. NOTHING grew except for one plant. It took them forever to send these pitiful excuses for plants. And they charge almost $10 for shipping.
On the other hand, I have visited this nursery and they seem to have decent plants available for those who are actually there and can refuse to accept the garbage they pawn off on mail order customers.

With what looks to be acres of greenhouses, Owens continues to be my go-to nursery. The selection seems to be unchallenged by other local places, and they always seem to have what I'm looking for in stock. Many of their employees are extremely helpful with picking plants that will work just right with whatever I'm trying to accomplish in my gardens.
