I had never been in a place like this before and expected to see more animals and to see more of the orangutans as well. But I have to say that when you do see them, the orangutans, is just amazing. The most fin part was the nursery, the small ones make you laugh! Try to get there early, to the nursery and also the feeding platforms, or will be just impossible to take a good photo.

A great opportunity to see the life of orangutans in nature. The staff of the center ensures the safety of visitors, giving the opportunity to see orangutans as close as possible. Interesting and very informative!

Wonderful what they r doing to rehabilitate the Orang Utan. Bcos fruiting season in the forest, the orang utan didn't come to feeding which is great in the sense that they are obviously able to feed themselves by foraging. Saw few young Orang Utan at the outdoor nursery. The sun bear rehability center is very good too. Most definitely worth a trip

One of, if not the top attraction when visiting Sandakan!
Sepilok is a must visit when visiting Sandakan. Come here to freshen up or deepen your knowledge about Orang Utan. Plan your trip to match their feeding hours - so you might be able to see Oran Utan live.
The facility is well kept and offers a comfortable glimps into the wild rain forest of Borneo. Staff is very friendly and always helpful.
I had a great time there and enjoyed every minute spent!

It is a rehabilitation center for returning orangutans to the wild. In Orangutan First, I can't call or touch, but I was impressed to see the orangutans playing at ease and see the wild orangutans coming in for dinner! The power of the boss was amazing! Because it is an endangered species, I want more forests where energetic orangutans can live happily forever.

i heard this place since was kid but when i went there last week. I barely see any Orang Utan and there is alot tourist and people there struggling to find the Orang utan. we were not lucky maybe. The centre must provide the coordinator to briefly explained whats happening there. we were left hanging after the long walk.

Great area and experience with a good cause. The only negative thing is the fact that this kind of center is actually needed to protect the animals.

We saw quite some Orang Utans and adopted even one to support the center.

Grab is cheap and easy to get from / to sandakan, and the public bus can also drop you off.

Thumbs up from us.

30rm to enter, basically we need to pay because other men has destroyed their home for palms and killed their mother. So now some of them don't have home, and we need to go to see them closed in a structure like a show. Happy anyway we have people taking care of these orphans.

Its a pitty that the Orang Utans lose their habitat more and more , because the cutting of the raiforest to plant palmoil palms.
So beautiful animals need to be protectet as evey other species.

This is definitely an eye opener. The saying of how seeing things in real life is much better than tv? This is when I'll apply it. The walkway built is really good and the staffs are dedicated in what they're doing. Not only that, along the path, there are information on trees withing the forest which you can read about. It's a must visit!

The place is significant from the point of view of restoration of the orangutan population. As a tourist destination, it is highly overrated, it is not worth going on purpose. You will be in Sandakan, you can go. They were especially crazy to ask for each lens from 400mm to 1000MYR. This is just crazy delirium.

Make sure you came during the feeding time which is 10 am and 3 pm. If you are lucky sightings of Orang Utan might be visible after the feeding time, where they roam around and being playful.

The center was such a lovely experience. Make sure to be there in the morning for the feeding. At 9.30 there's feeding at the outdoor nursery and at 10.00 at the feeding platform so you can check out both. There is also a feeding in the afternoon but no orangurans turned out for that one (which apparently happens quite often) so make it to the morning one. You can go in twice in one day on the same ticket. There are lockers to leave your stuff for free and a cafe/restaurant with pretty good food.

Do not expect to see a lot of Orang Utans! This is a rehabilitation center and the Orang Utans are naturally scared from people, especially when some tourists do not know when to shut their mouths. We saw 4 Orang Utans when they were feeded, and another 10 behind the glass in the outdoor nursery.
The job they do here is very good. Keep up the good work. The staff over here is very helpful and friendly.
Be aware that after 16:00 there do not drive any buses to Sandakan anymore, so be prepared to get a taxi. Also there are no grabcar available for 5 people.

A very natural place to see orangutans.

A very natural place to see orangutans.
There are two areas to see them, one is a playground for baby orangutans, which people sit indoor, second is a feeding platform, which is an outdoor nersury for orangutans to have food.
The tickets price is 30RM per foreigner and 10RM for camera (free for phone camera)
The feeding time is 10am and 3pm.
You can take the bus 14 from Sandakan mini bus station at 9: 00,11: 30,14: 00 and 17:00, and there are buses back to downtown too.
If you miss no. 14 bus, you could took no. 16 to the nearest place and grab to Sepilok (Grab for maybe 9RM)
Also If you miss 10am feeding time, you could go to the Borneo sun bear conservation center to wait for the next feeding time, it s just cross the road from Sepilok.

Very wild orangutan shelter. There are two places to see the orangutans. One is indoor (with air-conditioning) and you can see the baby orangutans playing through a large French window. The other is a wild feeding platform. At 10: 00/15: 00 every day, if you miss the morning show, you can go to the opposite Malay Bear Shelter Center and wait for the afternoon show.

Tickets are RM30 (non-Malaysian), and you need to pay another RM10 if you bring the camera (mobile phone photos are free)

The bus stop in Sandakan city center can be reached by bus No. 14 at 9:00, 11:30, 14:00, and 17:00 every day. If you miss it, you can take bus No. 16 to the street of West Perot. You need to take a taxi yourself (RM9 may not be expensive)
There are local buses that can go back to Sandakan. You can ask to see what time the counter is available. I take it at 16:00

An outstanding Centre of excellence providing for the needs of the orangutans to enable and support them to gain independence in the wild, at the same time enabling humans to observe their development and behaviour at close quarters without undue stress to either.

Amazing! Saw a mum and baby feeding as well as two others. Watched the baby Orang utans in the nursery feeding. And had my phone pinched by a juvenile Orang utan who decided to meet us on the walk way. Got it back but watch your phones!

Absolutely incredible to see the majestic orangutan in their natural habitat. Top notch consrvation work
Tip 1: no need to pay the expense of a private tour. Plenty of information signs and helpful, knowledgeable staff at the park.
Tip 2: wear pants with pockets to store valuables like your passport; all bags must be put in a locker.

Well set up and not excessively busy on the day of our visit. The nursery is a great opportunity to see some youngsters and the work that the sanctuary does.

Unfortunately we're only saw 1 orangutan in the forest (but the upside of that is that the orangutans were getting enough from the wild and as such didn't need to come out for food).

The tourists and locals are in the limelight.

The tourists and locals are in the limelight.
It is not valid in Sandakan if you do not visit this place.
Be prepared for basic needs because the forest mosquitoes are a bit toxic.

1. Feeding time is 10am and 3pm.
a. Please note when there is other monkey at the feeding platform, mostly likely the Orang Utan will not come to the platform.

2. There is another feeding time at nursery centre. You will get a better chance to see them.

3. Please take note, you are not allow to bring any bag into the centre. Locker room is available so you can keep your bags.

4. There is a video centre, this video share will show you the centre purpose and the story.

Excellent place with excellent facilities. Very well put together. Very popular however - we went in the morning and the viewing for the feeding was full. Together with the SunBear sanctuary over the road it is a great experience. I advise trying to get a local guide, perhaps as part of a local tour package.
