Completely and utterly disgusted with this organization. They have charged me twice for a service that only took the guy 10 minutes to do. They over charge and can be difficult to get hold of when trying to resolve issues - recommend you look else where for fire protection services

I have worked more than a few projects with Onyx Demolition & Fire and I am confident that they are a top notch team. I have never been late with them on my team. Single units to 15+ floors at a time they never let me down.

Literally the worst service I have ever seen - fire alarms ring at all hours for no reason other than to overcharge for testing.

By the way, the owner asks all employees to write positive reviews- what rubbish! Would give 0 stars if possible.

A replacement fire alarm that has hit end of life is $600 CAD! That's an absurd over charge for a $25 piece of hardware. Please be careful using this service they seem to rip off their customers at every turn!

I work for a construction company and have dealt with a few different fire protection companies. They are very professional and always respond very quickly. It's taken me weeks to get other fire protection companies to come out or even just answer an email with more than a one word reply. They always answer the phone or your email and they explain things. Onyx-Fire by far has been the best for us. They provide quality work and the price is always inline with what they all charge. They get a 5 star from us and I would definitely recommend them.

There has been some false reviews and I would like...

There has been some false reviews and I would like to address them. As a company we barely deal with the board of directors. We deal with the Property management. As a company if we have missed something or made an error I encourage you to call in and ask for me. It will be dealt with immediately and corrected. We have one of the highest if not the highest retention rate in the industry because our scheduling is extremely accurate, we have no voice mail and answers all calls, we admit to our mistakes and correct them, the customer service is extremely important to us and we take pride in this. As any company there is no 100% perfection rate but we aim to reach that but sometimes we miss that goal. When we make a mistake we take accountability for this and jump on it right away to correct it. I have also gone to condo board meetings to assist the property manager in explaining some concerns and misconceptions and always walked out with them thanking us for taking the time to meet with them and clear up any concerns.

Never dealt with this company but one of the drivers were driving irresponsible. Was driving Friday morning December 6 2019 around 6:40am on Mcnicoll and Victoria park (toronto) and there are signs that the right lane is closing, when one of these company van cut sooo close causing the car to slip and he had the nerve to honk and mind you it's a snow storm . So got the number to call to report and the customer service lady on the phone was very rude when I was telling her the situation she sounded very annoyed and was saying how she doesn't know the area but instead of being rude she could have asked (isnt that what customer service is about) and she raised her voice and dropped the phone on me.
It's ridiculous that this fire protection company has big clients and this is how their employees are behaving.

Worst service. They don't follow up with customers, over-bill for services not performed, and scheduling is always a problem. I am on my condo board of directors and pushing to switch companies because these guys are outrageous.

How do get positive reviews? You go around the off...

How do get positive reviews? You go around the office and ask staff to post positive feedback online. Yea, I read that online on glass door as prior onyx fire staff has admitted to doing so.

I was charged about the same price as doing plastic surgery for bringing down 4 sprinkler heads and installing smoke detector for furnace.

City of Mississauga fire department failed us 2 times as they failed to install the smoke detector properly. Once asked to rectify the problem, they blamed it back on me asking why I didn't ask them to request for furnace shut off for smoke detector initially. Well Onyx fire isn't this what you do? Don't you know what the fire code is? Shouldn't you ask me or city fire department how to program the smoke detector?

Well it gets worse, Onyx Fire couldn't figure out how to have the smoke detector shut off the unit. Luckily, Edward from city of Mississauga fire department was able to guide me into what to do. All it was a simple wire running from smoke detector to HVAC. I explained it to onyx fire and was able to get a redicules quote of $3,600 plus HST to run the wire. My guess is a plastic surgen charges about the same.

I showed Edward the quote and he advised me to take it up with my building management. If building management doesn't do anything he will have no choice but to step in.

I Wil update the review once I hear back from building management..

I want my building management to FIRE Onyx fire. This company is running a monopoly business with our building and plaza as they know we aren't allowed to use any other company. They will give u a high quote as they know as a tenant u have no choice but to accept.

I will make sure nothing like this ever happens to my neighbours.

I encourage everyone to use a different company unless you are like me.

I forgot to mention they charged me $500 more on my credit card than what was quoted. I have read up on the company and it turns out its a common practice to over charge and hopping customers don't notice. I literrly had to beg for them to refund me.

They don't inspect fire panels batteries or emerge...

They don't inspect fire panels batteries or emergency lights while doing annual inspections. Office staff is very rude and has no attention to detail. For the "Deficiencies repairs" their list that they give us to give out notices are always different. So multiple trips are needed at our cost. Even the 2nd round list is different from ours. Now on the 3rd round of repairs and AGAIN they send us building numbers and when the tech gets here it's different on his list. I let him do the repairs anyways because our horns in the hallways are white instead of red (3 horns total) and told it's against fire code. He replaced to red ones and now the system doesn't work at all and has been here for two hours now. It's getting ridiculous you can't send a proper list of repairs and do the proper work.

I highly advice NOT hiring this company.

Update: He returned with different horns and guess what color they are....White!!

Staggeringly awful. As others have said, alarm tests at all times of night and morning, including 6 AM today.

As others have said, reviews are written by employees. If you want a laugh read their five star review on Glassdoor - CONS: working too hard to help short term employees.

Honestly, it's so transparent it feels like Michael Scott wrote it.

They have the best customer service in the industry! They have very knowledgeable and great technicians. I'm an employee of Onyx but our long time customers can prove it. Onyx is growing and getting better because of our good team. There will be always bitter people out there who are very dedicated on publishing negative reviews (like ex-employees) but we are more focused on moving forward and will always try to make the company better for the customers and hardworking employees.

I have worked for a number of companies in my time in the fire protection industry. This company by far exceeds most expectations than other companies typically do. I can tell you the level of professionalism is better then most and they deliver the best of their abilities.

The negative reviews are isolated occurrences and anytime a negative occurrence takes place Onyx is immidiate to address those matters and how to make things right to improve services.

The simple fact remains your not going to make everyone happy.
