Since investing in my first Olympus camera and lenses some 5 years ago I have progressed from their E-M5 to an E-M1 Mk2 and very recently to the latest E-M1X. Along the way when I experienced a few technical issues the service staff at Macquarie Park took the time to listen and understand my concerns, responding in a way I can only describe as magnificent. With this background in mind and the joy I have experienced with the images already captured on the earlier models I had no hesitation in upgrading to the new E-M1X.

Looking at the positive reviews of Olympus Australia, I had to double and triple check that they were about the same organisation I had the misfortune of dealing with last week. Per Olympus recommendation I sent my TG-4 compact underwater camera to them to have its seals replaced after a year (I take it into the water a lot). It came back to me with the mode dial not working properly and water coming in. Everything was working until those people got their hands on it. Understandably not prepared to let them have another go at my camera and asked for a replacement. The customer service operator, Kelly put up ridiculous obstacles and either lied or didn't know her job, suggesting the warranty was void as it had been in for repairs (which it had not). I had to ask more than once for an escalation. Fair enough that they had no stock in the warehouse and agreed to replace it in around a month and lend me a refurbished camera but they also swore blind (I was dealing with her manager by this time) that there was no stock in the country and if I could find any they would buy it back from the dealership and I could have it. I had to do their job for them! It took me ONLY 3 phone calls to find one in a store in my home city and even then they tried to fob me off. Terrible customer service experience! I was not asking for anything I wasn't entitled to, but I really think they were hoping I'd just go away.

My camera has not yet been repaired but I felt compelled to provide a review already because I ve been so impressed with the ease and responsiveness so far. The shutter on my 1.5 year old camera became stuck a week or two ago while I was travelling. I emailed Olympus and received a quick response from the Sydney repair centre with instructions. I was only in Sydney for one day and I showed up to the service centre unannounced with no appointment and no proof of purchase. They accepted my camera for repair with no hesitation, it was a quick and simple process and they allowed me to provide proof of purchase at a later time. Furthermore, I have received personalised emails and quick responses within the hour.

Called on a Friday at 4.40pm multiple times to speak to someone about my camera lens replacement and no one answered. Does customer service exists there? Well interesting to know I walked there from Maquarie Westfield as I work nearby and thought I d speak to a real life person. When I got there, I noticed there was a drinks trolley being transported to an area where lots of people were gathered around. Does anyone work till 5pm on a Friday? Customer service is non existent whenever I call after 4.30pm on a Friday. Seems like personnel have a party from what time that commences, who knows and don t attend to outside callers. Also a friend of mine who works at high end firm preempted calling the service department as they have called on multiple occasions where they would leave a message about their audio device with issues, only to have a return contact 3 days later. Such appalling service!!

The customer service from Olympus Sydney office is exceptional together with their excellent product support and technical assistance.

I've recently returned to the Olympus fold and have purchased a complete professional OM1mark ii system and the assistance Olympus has given me in upgrading firmware on camera and lenses has made it an easy process, very much appreciated: Olympus.

Fantastic service from Olympus recently. Took OMD-EM1 in to get rear dial fixed and even though camera was 6 mths outside warranty period, they fixed the dial, cleaned ccd unit, checked & tested. They also found that the unit had suffered impact damage, so repaired as a gesture of good will. They also gave me 6 mths warranty. And it only took them 3 days. Thanks Olympus - goodwill greatly appreciated.
