I went with my friends to old Sturbridge village and I had a good time and I like going in the buildings and seeing how the people dressed up in period costumes explain what it was like living in the 19th century and I was very impressed with the how the employees setup the antiques in the buildings and it was like stepping back in time and I was very impressed and the employees did a very good job and I would go back there again and I would recommend old Sturbridge village to everyone to go to for good service, beautiful antiques, good customer service.

The Old Sturbridge Village is a step back in time, complete with activities and live demonstrations that range from glass, pottery, smithing, cooking to wood working. Nearly all the structures are original, often complete with history lessons from period actors.

The property is beautifully set on a forested river, where the saw and grain Mills can take advantage of the hydropower. Even if the old village didn't offer so much, it is still a beautiful afternoons walk. The on site farm is complete with livestock from pigs, to cows and chickens.

The cafe and gift shop top off the visit by selling not only typical touristy trinkets but also goods made on premise. My favorite being the hand thrown pottery baked in the replica wood fire kiln.

If you are lucky, your visit might even be timed so that you can catch one of the productions like Sleepy Hallow. Even if you can't catch a production, your visit will be well worth the stop.

Very spacious grounds to walk around, much bigger than I thought it was going to be. It was great to see the reenactors there even during the winter months. They were able to answer all the questions we had. Saw a week old baby lamb, that was probably the highlight for us! We will definitely be back. Great social distancing activity.

Been going to OSV since I was a child. Always a great time learning about Old New England and what life used to be like, especially around Christmas. Very nostalgic for repeat visitors and a must go for anyone who's never been

Attended wedding there. Food was good. Added excessive sugar to all their sauces & soups....disappointing....couldn't finish servings. Not sure if this was a Sturbridge decision or the host, but the women were served first then the men. For so many reasons this was close minded, presumptuous and disappointing.

Room was cold, even after bringing it to staffs attention. Many people, including the elderly & ill, were left in a physical state of discomfort for the evening.

The grounds are nice. The church was quaint. Staff were friendly.

MUCH more than we thought it would be to see, learn, do! Artisans like blacksmith and tin smith, printer and carder, farmer and housewives all greeted us and answered questions freely with smiles!

The whole family enjoyed the living history museum. Our son made a particular friendship with the blacksmith.

We bought a membership on the way out and can't wait for our next visit. We are imagining how awesome it will be after COVID restrictions!

Fun, historic little village to visit. Have been there twice. The land is beautifully kept and lots to see. Avoid going during weekdays in June when class trips are happening because the school chaperones and students don't pay attention or care about anything but themselves. The Old Sturbridge Village workers are VERY friendly and professional.

The personal at Sturbridge village was the greatest, they had the utmost care for us when we came to in F1 tornado that was within 11 miles they were securing us into their buildings they were prepared for this I was very happy with them for everything that they did.

The Phantom and Fire event at OSV was wonderful! The actors did an amazing job bringing Edgar Allan Poe stories and poems to life. The event was thoroughly enjoyed by all family members aged between 8 and 86! As always the Village was lovely and the staff amazing. Thank you for a lovely evening.

The Christmas By Candlelight here is a must-do event. I am lucky enough to be a participant (I'm a caroler) and everything was completely magical. My children came one night as well (they're four and six) and this is truly an event for all ages. There are demonstrations of food and crafts and dancing, as well as horse drawn carriage rides. There is also an interesting talking Christmas tree puppet named Tinsel, who seems out of place in the 1830's atmosphere but is worth seeing. Don't miss the Nativity Village and the gingerbread house contest.

First time here although I have been living 30 minutes away for over 10 years. I have always been deterred by the admittance cost and cost for extras.

All employees are very in tune with the era and seem to genuinely like what they do. The knowledge of the staff was great. The history was interesting and the property was well maintained.

Don't waste the extra money do to the sit down at the restaurant before the entrance. The menu is non existent and way over priced. The cafe style location had more variety and was reasonably priced.

The history, life stock and knowable staff is a 4. The food and price are 2.

I haven't been here since I was really young, it's not totally how I remember it but it is still completely enjoyable as an adult. They also offer you a free pass to return within the next week or so after you pay for one admission and even though I live 40 minutes away I made the second trip!

My girlfriend and I ended up here without knowing exactly what it was; that said, we were pleasantly surprised! It's a bit pricey, but it is absolutely gorgeous, especially if you like history! The covered bridges are a perfect romantic spot for a kiss and a picture, and with the changing leaves in the fall it really is a gorgeous destination for couples and families. I would highly recommend checking it out for an hour or two!

We went on the 4th of July to eat at the tavern expecting it to be the same type of menu as at Sunday brunch. However it was rather limited in selections. The food was good enough. The Merlot was fine. We had to wait quite a while to be seated , that was to be expected on a holiday. Overall we enjoy osv and we are annual members.

Been many times. Great place for field trips, or to learn about history and how life used to be in colonial New England. Staff is knowledgeable and have many interesting things to see. You never know what you're going to see, whether a blacksmith making nails, a potter making vases, women butchering turkeys, or someone skinning a coyote (yes we actually saw that). Their Christmas time events are especially nice.

It's an 1800's working farm with sheep, cows and it is so relaxing when you are there. The men and women are dressed in period costume. They even have a stage coach and a river ride that you can go on. There is also a restaurant.

Authentic 1780's - 1820's village. Very cool place to walk around and observe the different crafts, ways of life, and buildings of the time period. The pathways are mostly dirt and some buildings have been made accessible for wheelchair access. The demonstrations vary as some are very interactive and others are just reading signs. Most of the presenters are engaging even to the children. The Bullard Tavern is about midway and has a lunch if you plan it accordingly and the prices are reasonable. Plan to spend the day and wear comfortable shoes and prepare for the weather since a lot of it is outside. Disappointing that they charge extra for the coach rides, boat ride and stagecoach though. The movie is even more.

It was pretty. OSV at night by candlelight was different, i wish there was no COVID. Due to COVID it was hard to see things from the outside. All the buildings has you stand outside and look in the doors or windows.

I will revisit for the holiday season...due to the pandemic, a lot of the shops and services were closed. It's better to be safe though. That's the reason for the 3 stars. Will update after revisiting.

This living museum is a must-see for anyone interested in pre-Civil War Americana. The buildings, costumed workers displaying typical skills/jobs of the time, and the pretty rural setting make for an interesting day for all ages. The cafeteria was great, too, with inexpensive but delicious food.

Quaint village. Best Chicken Pot Pie ever.
So I am updating my review because my husband and I were just reminiscing about the chicken pot pie in the tavern. Is there any way to have them shipped.

Living history at its best. Beautiful village, wide open views. Lots of crafts / trades demonstrated. My kids were fascinated. We've been many times. Redcoats and Rebels weekend is the best!

I'm an admitted history buff so places like this tend to be interesting to me. This said I still think that there's a lot to be seen, learned and done here that even folks that aren't so inclined will find interesting. The ground themselves are quite nice and the employees are friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend visiting if you have any interest in experiencing how things used to be back in the day.

This place is great for adults & kids. They have their own little hotel where you can spend the nights at with all of today's accommodation's like WiFi & breakfast but with an old century feel to their decorations. It's definitely a great place for a day time visit where you can enjoy it and also learn things about how it used to be living in the 19th century.
