The Old Sturbridge Village is a step back in time,...

The Old Sturbridge Village is a step back in time, complete with activities and live demonstrations that range from glass, pottery, smithing, cooking to wood working. Nearly all the structures are original, often complete with history lessons from period actors.

The property is beautifully set on a forested river, where the saw and grain Mills can take advantage of the hydropower. Even if the old village didn't offer so much, it is still a beautiful afternoons walk. The on site farm is complete with livestock from pigs, to cows and chickens.

The cafe and gift shop top off the visit by selling not only typical touristy trinkets but also goods made on premise. My favorite being the hand thrown pottery baked in the replica wood fire kiln.

If you are lucky, your visit might even be timed so that you can catch one of the productions like Sleepy Hallow. Even if you can't catch a production, your visit will be well worth the stop.
