Odda Camping Reviews

Decent enough facilities. Showers 20kr, kitchen area with free sinks for washing up. Oven and hobs. Disabled toilet/shower. Plenty of toilets. A few grocery items available at reception. Reception opening hours quite extensive during high season. Beautiful lakeside location with amazing view. Staff were keen to offer hiking advice or local suggestions. Maps and local info readily available.

Minor issues: paid for electric hookup but were unable to reach one with our 10m long cable. Could do with more hookup points. Even our neighbours had to link several cables together in order to get it to reach.
Pitches not allocated, so just a case of finding one yourself. We spent a while trying to find one near a hookup and weren't really sure where to go, despite available site maps.
We arrived at 1530 on Saturday, when it was fairly busy, started to really fill up around evening/tea time. It was quite noisy on site until their suggested quiet time of 2300, but a few guests remained fairly noisy. I realise this is outside site control, they can only ask people to be quiet which they indicated on their signs.
Only seemed to be one staff member which meant a fair queue at reception.

Would return, however, those issues were frustrating.

First campsite before a three-week Scandinavian tour.
Pitch for Womo because of late arrival not nice and probably too wet because of rain. Showers and WC as well as check in i.O. Very nice location on the lake. Many people with tent but ok. We felt good.

Nicely located. But gets very full very quickly. If you arrive after 2 p.m. it can be that you don't get any more space with a caravan and motorhome and then have to drive again. Is very expensive. For 3 nights 880 NOK. Showers NOK 20. The location is good. But if you like space and peace. Is it definitely the wrong place.

Crowded with people of all nationalities, shops very close to each other because it is the only campsite near the Trolltunga route. Despite the amount of people the toilets were decent.

Certainly one of the worse campsites in Norway.
For the prices they take (200 NOK per night for a single tent), apart from a toilet and little space to pitch the tent, there is practically nothing offered. The location is great for a few, the rest is in the 2nd row or right next to a street. This place definitely lacks the competition, with a better alternative nobody would visit it again!

Nice camping, but expensive in comparison to the other campings I've been to in Norway. But the location is just as beautiful as in all the campings I visited here in Norway. It's also really close to the Trolltunga so if you want to hike the Trolltunga, you should stay on this camping.

On our trip to Norway, this campsite was the most expensive and at the same time the worst.
- 500 crowns for 2 cars with a car.
- The place was overcrowded and we had to camp by the road.
- Showering costs 20 crowns for 5 minutes.
- Showers are ramshackle and moldy
- Overall, the condition of the facility is showing its age

We loved our time at Odda camp. It had an easy check in and out. We opted to do our own cleaning at check out which saved some money. We stayed in a cabin that had 2 rooms, one with a double bed with a single bunk on top and one room with a single bunk. The bedrooms were very small but this was made up for with the kitchenette, dining table and couches. We loved the outdoor table and fire pit. The cabins were back from the lake but that didn t phase us. We would definitely stay there again and it was a great starting location for the Trolltunga hike (around 35min to the hike car park).
Just note that they don t provide towels with the cabins.

Massified, expensive, noisy. But it was very clean and the new facilities

The rooms simple but very good. The spacious bathrooms. The dining tables a little narrow and uncomfortable because it is not closed. Very well located to move around the area. I would go back

The best place to sleep if you wanna feel the unique emotions of Tortunga

Quite large but little organized campsite. Upon entering you have to look for an available space before paying. The only good thing is that it is very close to important routes such as the climb to the troll tongue or to see a glacier. The facilities not very well maintained.

Nice little campsite on the lake shore suitable as a base for trips to the surroundings and Trolltung.

View is nice but the rest is just bad. I would not recommend this to others. The entire campsite is crammed and the sanitary facilities are whining. The kitchen is very small / old and the showers and toilets are very dirty. Too many people and too few facilities. In short, no success ..

Eternally occupied sanitary facilities - too few for the number of guests - old - need renovation. A place like that - just spare places for the tent were at the skatepark and street - so from the morning traffic of cars. Price definitely inadequate to quality - I do not recommend.

We arrived and the owners were nothing, there was a leaf on the door, with "find a picture". The campsite is not too big so with a bit of luck you have space. The view is beautiful, there is a large rock on which can climb once you have a blissful view. In general, the campsite is fine for a short stay. They if you are looking for a place to sleep close to the trolltunga.

If possible, don't use this campsite. Really inconvenient site here is. The price is more expensive than other sites, but the service is only to receive money.
Many people have to wait in rows for dish washing, shower rooms and WCs are terribly insuffient.

Best place to stay/camp in Odda, we stayed while hiking was planned for trolltunga.

Camping site very crowded with tourists (probably because of the Trolltunga hike),
Too few sanitary facilities for the mass of camping guests -> you have to wait a long time for the showers and pay 20Kr for lukewarm water, the cleanliness of the sanitary facilities unfortunately suffers
When washing up, you also have to pay for warm water and queue up
Price performance ratio leaves a lot to be desired

All standard facilities were available, and all in working condition and clean. Friendly staff. We used our tent alongside the lake with good breeze, which kept our tent ventilated and with one great view of the green water.

At 19 o'clock it is almost impossible to find a place under the tent, as well as observe the 3m distance. Quite crowded and unreasonably expensive. For two weeks in Norway, such prices have not been met. Shower 20 CZK for 5 minutes, the kitchen is mediocre, although there are 2 cookers and 2 sinks. Wash about 60 crowns, if not mistaken. Tent with machine 250 nok. Houses are also more expensive than many competitors. Perhaps the reason for the proximity of a large city. Very near the road, maybe noisy. From the pros - a stunning view of the fjord, along which in the evening a slender row of tents

Great location, ok cabins. Bad parking at the cabins.

Lovely place but too crowded. Just one staff at the front desk , long waits for check in.

The facilities are a joke. Only two sinks to clean dishes and you have to queue for charging devices, showering, toilets. Everything was quite dirty. Showers expensive. WiFi was weak, didn t work on actual campground.

Only plus side are the lovely receptionists.
Also they charges you 50 kr for leaving your pack there for a few hours!

Place at the lake nice, place is then crowded. Loud people who made the fire very close to the car, long queue when washing dishes, no hot water for washing dishes, if there are 10 NOK, even with showers waiting times, costs 20 NOK. Never again!

Dirty toilets, unfriendly staff, high prices for nothing

Great for when you are passing through but do not expect much in terms of facilities. Nice view though.

Very dissatisfied. Some other people came roaming closer to us and set up their own tent. It was less than 3 meters away, some that is not allowed due. corona rules.

A campsite with a beautiful view of the lake and the mountains. In the evening you can enjoy the view for a long time around the campfire. He is very simple, but has everything necessary and is very cheap. There are not many places. We liked it very much! Good starting point for the Buarbreen and the Trolltunga!

Camping?
It is no more than a glorified lawn.
On 2 public bicycle / hiking trails.
Far too expensive and too dirty (showering 20 crown for 5 min) and therefore overcrowded way too little sanitary.
Better camp along the road and later find a neat campsite.

From the quality of the toilets and the cabins a great campsite, but the parking situation and the number of toilets are poor ....

We had everything great. One minus, it is necessary to clean the apartment. And if you do not want yourself, you can additionally buy a cleaning service. Price 550 CZK.

for a planned hike to Trolltunga in order. That's what most of them do here, so they always get busy. Come early enough or where a small place is squeezed. The others do that as well, so they have nothing pleasant to do. Practically, however, a shuttle bus leaves 5.50 to the P2 station of the Trolltunga hiking trail. Of course, like everything in Norway, not cheap for a bus ride

Simple, clean and in a beautiful location! Suitable for those who go there in a tent since the spaces are not huge

Friendly welcome. The reception was open between 6 pm and 9 pm in low season. Found a nice place and registered later. Quite reasonable at the price for the location. Also very many hikers who walked around the terrain.

Odda ... a beautifull name with beautifull amazing nature! You cant get tired of watching arround odda

Good view but the lake is far from restrooms, and not enough restroom for everyone

Space was clean. Showers modern and relatively clean. The woman at the front desk could not speak English, which made checkin difficult for foreigners.

Especially as a base for a hike to Trolltunga a great campsite. Walk from the campsite towards the lookout for the glacier, very beautiful. Sanitary facilities fine.

Average camp for a higher price. Overcrowded in summer. The prices are unscrewed by the fact that it is the only functional camp in the surrounding area.

Very nice camping by the water. Nice kitchen and other facilities. Loved it.

Cottage for 5 people is excellent. Have a nice stay. The mattresses of the single beds are thin. Beautiful environment.

Dirty, expensive and full. For min. 200 people there were 3 toilets on site, unfortunately one of them was broken. Rate urgently from a visit.

Rented cabin for a night and it was too small for two persons.

Too much people in the high season therefore it's over crowded. The cottage (hytte) is small. Bed, sofa, kitchen, eating table are in the same room. Price is high.

Great camping in odda. Incredible view, clean kitchen and toilets.
A little expensive. You have to pay for showers (2euros for 5mins).

Nice view, good service house and walking distance to the center. Close activities in the immediate area.

Nice location to get to Trolltunga. Well equipped kitchen. Complicated facilities, everybody are confused where things are.
We paid 250 NOK this season (2019) for a car, tent and 2 people.

With all amenities, such as laundry, dishwashing, cooking, and accommodation in tents, carriages, cars or rooms. No actual beach, but right by nature experiences, and rental of canoes, as well as several activities.

The campsite is basically okay.
Unfortunately, there are only two sinks and too few sanitary facilities for the size of the place and number of campers.

Small campsite. Crowded place in July/August. Kitchen with electric hobs free to use. A little bit of nose from nearby road.

An almost overcrowded campsite, which is always very busy in summer, which is certainly due to the proximity to the starting point of the hike to Trolltunga. Nearby is the Buarbreen and a lake where you can walk.
The place and the lawn have been broken by cars, which means that large parts of the place are very muddy.

The square has a small kitchen, which is clearly far too small for the size of the square and the large number of visitors! The same applies to the seating in front of it.
The sanitary facilities are very chaotic. It takes time to find your way around and know where everything is. In addition, the facilities are shabby and neglected. There are no separate washrooms for men. Showering costs 20 NOK, which is outrageous considering the already high price for the night.

The price of NOK 250 for a car, a tent and two adults is not justified due to the points just listed.

Fantastic space and good beds in the cottage. Great offer of tour opportunities! Find a small kiosk there, and food stores and restaurants nearby. Recommended to bu when to go on Trolltunga. Two nights we were there and it was perfect time

Good location for the trek to Trolltunga but otherwise quite crowded (july) and tight. Sanitary facilities and kitchen were accordingly dirty. Located directly on a beautiful lake. So you should arrive early to get one of the front seats.

Nice location, a little bit crowdy but actually it s nearest and most useful camping before Trolltunga.

Save your money. Do not stay here when there are so many other places to camp. They allow endless tents and cars, so by the end of the night there were tents all around us less than a meter away. There a no trash cans near the campsites. The bathrooms are dirty. There was no toilet paper or soap. The kitchen is very small and there were so many people it was impossible to use. The showers are coin operated and dirty. The wifi and views are the only upside to this place.

Camping right next to the water was very nice. The place was extremely well maintained and the women who worked in the office were very helpful and nice.

Great location. There are many young people with backpack and tent in the square. Motorhomes have two extra seats with good views of the lake.

Everything is clean. Compared to other campsites is very crowded, as many start from here to Trolltunga.

Who is feeling the festival feeling at the campsite is just right. Place completely crowded, everything is criss-crossed and the sanitary facilities are for the mass of people absolutely not enough! Stay for 1x and quickly gone ok, for more.

The cleaning with the room itself is REALLY new but also "cheap" for the area. Paid NOK 650 for the night. 20 NOK for a 5min shower. 40 NOK for washing machine OR dryer & 10 NOK for detergent. You need 20 NOK coins, but you can get them at the reception.
Showers ok. Cleanliness toilets ok, location great, the bus for Trolltunga stops right in front of it.
Wifi is a disaster. You have to queue to wash up.

Lovely place to stay. Uphill from bus taxi station so have to take taxi to reach. But amazing place with good rooms, kitchen accessible 24*7 and hot shower @ 20 kronas. Nice outer area and hostel vibes.

Pitch your tent nicely in between cars and campers and other tents, if you don't mind waking up to other people's alarms or stumbling over your tent. The camping is just too crowded. Because of fire hazard, the tents should be 3m apart, but the camping has no way to guarantee that.
There is a kitchen and place to sit, but you will have to wait in line to use them. Once you find all the toilets and showers, there should be just enough of them.
On the plus side, the view and location is fantastic. There are many possibilities for hikes in the area, more than just Trolltunga ;). Check out Bruerbreen for the glacier or hike to Sandvin for a gorgeous waterfall.
It is the only camping in the area, but a little bit of improvement would be welcome.

Camping in a very beautiful location. There are toilets, showers. It is possible to stay with tents, caravans, campers. You can stay with your pets.

Stayed in the cabins as opposed to the campgrounds before hiking Trolltunga. Didn t love the bunk bed setup, but otherwise a nice space. Mini fridge and hot plates for cooking dinner were effective. Private shower and bathroom with hot water included (the 20 nok fee is for the communal showers only).

Fine camping including expected services such as toilet, showers, kitchen and small shop. In high season the campsite could be crowded due to the relative small size of the camping.

Unkempt, poorly laid out, very dirty sanitary facilities, but too expensive, by no means again. The location is nice, but 2 stars.

Great campsite right on the lake, the city center can be reached on foot in just 10-15 minutes.

Not recommendable. Although right on the lake also right on the street.
Very busy .. Queues in front of the shower .. Kitchen crowded .. Hot water costs money. Has the charm of a youth hostel.
Therefor free wifi.

Tents are close together.
Price of 25 euros for a tent is also not cheap.
There are really nicer places in Norway .. Just maybe not on trolltunga
