Bad Santair. Nasty. Pay for hot water. All tents are tight on each other. Many ugly campers. And the price of 50 euros for 2 tents, 3 people and a car was ridiculously expensive
Bad Santair. Nasty. Pay for hot water. All tents are tight on each other. Many ugly campers. And the price of 50 euros for 2 tents, 3 people and a car was ridiculously expensive
The campsite is located on the fjord. We were there with a VW there and paid 170NOK for an overnight stay. A pretty cheap price. However, even for hot water in the kitchen 10NOK had to be paid extra. Shower brands could also be purchased separately. The grounds, as well as the sanitary facilities were very well-kept, small and cute. FreeWiFi was available.
Great camping place close to many key tourist destinations (by car) - such as trolltunga, buarbreen and some waterfalls. Adequate provisions and a well equipped kitchen with all necessary appliances. The shower in our cabin was for free (unlimited use without extra pay). And the bedding were provided without extra cost. The staff was very helpful. Good price for what's available around - but Norway in general is more expensive than other countries so I thought it was still a little expensive for a cabin in a campsite.
2nd July 2018
Note on the price: We have for a 6m-WoMo + electricity and 2 people. 33, - paid. Showers 2.20 extra per person and shower.
Completely overcrowded place;
If I didn't miscount: 4 showers; only 2 (!) dishes with lukewarm water; we had to stand in line everywhere.
If you don't necessarily want to hike on the Trolltunga: Avoid this place.
Bad toilets and showers, not clean at all, the rest of the camping, good standingplaces, not to high costs for standing. 20 krs for 4 min shower is to much. In the summer very much people and to less toilets. Nice place for 1 or 2 nights more not.
Showers cost extra. Sanitary facilities are mixed (men and women).
Pitches are confusing and pedestrians are constantly walking past the tent in a park
Cozy, small-scale campsite on the fjord and in the middle of the mountains. All facilities available.
Popular place, which reflected in the number of guests. The sanitary facility is somewhat old. Not run down, but soon on time to upgrade. Wondered that I only found a single toilet for women and men respectively, when there are so many guests. The place is idyllically located and can serve as a base for many hiking destinations in the area.
The camping site is OK, just a little bit expensive for what it offers. Good kitchen for free use. However if you want to take a hot shower it will cost about 2 euros for 5 minutes!!!
Looks nice location, but busy
, Sanitary unclean, electrical connections partly verschmort and too few. Environment very nice.
Oversized camping for the amount of people there are. Small kitchen for the people there. The good thing is Trolltunga 25 min.
I've seen better camping sites, but this is your spot for a shower after a long day hiking to Trolltunga.
Great place to stay 4 nights in a room for 2 persons :
- In the room, we had only a table, chairs and beds.
- There are separately a kitchen, a fridge, two bathrooms that everyone can use.
We like hiking in the mountains and meet people.
It was a good experience.
The location is really beautiful right by the lake and the mountains around. The reception staff felt terrified of meeting the tourists (felt like the wrong people for the job). Toilets and showers would benefit from a refreshment. The sites were okay for caravans but far between electric poles. But good location on the campsite as a starting point for all the village hikers.
gotta pay for washing dishes with hot water and other necessary things. rip off
A good camping site with a kitchen and a very nice view of the lake.
Price for camping is very cheap.
Very nice place a Po less the kitchen and bathroom facilities. But cmq highly recommended !!
Goods with the camper here 7 meters. 250 crowns without electricity. 50 kroner of electricity. A sleepover. Sanitary Old but clean. Showers extra 20 kroner. Great view of the fjord when you are in the 1st row.
Overcrowding on the plumbing, the camping shop is expensive, showering costs 20 crowns for 5 minutes and there is little to experience for the kids.
Furthermore, the campsite is guest free, sometimes something guest free and in their eyes there is no full campsite hence too many people on too little sanitary.
Ostensibly a nice place and this is but there is no room in the kitchen for showers and fee in short times. A drying room can not be dried there. One can pass no more
Being in odda is the best place to stay, from the cabins to the tent. It has a direct coastline with the lake, a huge erratic rock block type glacier. The bus for the trolltunga goes through the same campsite. Eye, they charge you separately at 20kr the 5 minutes of hot water to bathe ... I went and I bathed in the icy water of the lake and it was. Those who are friendly enough for the Norwegian average.
The camping is pretty expensive compared to other camping's in Norway and it's not even better than average. It cost 380 krone for two tents and four persons. Showers cost an additional 20 krone which is pretty expensive for just a 5 minute shower. However 10 krone for only 1(!) minute of hot water to do the dishes is absolutely ridiculous.
The only upsides is the view and it's close to the Trolltunga, however you can wild camp in the neighbourhood what I would recommend over this camping.
Far away and the road is very narrow .. and do not take advantage of the enmity
Renovation of the sanitary facility would be urgent. Advantage: located directly on the water. Class for fishing etc.
A campsite right on the lake with a wonderful view. The sanitary facilities were very clean and new. The kitchen is cramped but everything is there for cooking. The young lady in the reception was very friendly and even spoke German. We would definitely go back.
Keep in mind that site becomes very muddy when its raining
The campsite is quite nicely located. The signage at the campsite is rather bad. You have to look for toilet, shower and sink. Is something complicated. It could all be cleaner.
Very nice camping and it have the most awesom view!
Its verry expensive compared with other campsites. People leave the camping early so if you stay in a tent you will be awake a around 5am. If you come back after a hike and want a warm shower you pay 20NOK for 5 min. The only good thing, its close to trolltunga.
Crowded and a little too close with places. Clean toilet and nice nature.
1 star for the location and view!
1 star for the overall feeling.
Otherwise this campsite is a rip-off and the operator seems to know, but not to bother because there are no great alternatives ... warm shower 20nok extra, warm rinse 10nok extra, set up caravan tent 50nok extra etc ... We haven't seen anything like this on any other campsite, regardless of the place is full every evening. Therefore, it is advisable to arrive early ;-)
What is really affordable is the location and view
Plumbing is bad and dirty. No water points on the campsite itself & too few electricity points. You cannot make a reservation and you just have to hope that there is room. Showering is far too expensive for the short time you get (2 euros for 5 minutes) & washing up is not possible with only 2 sinks.
View is beautiful and several walking routes close by.
The receptionist was offensive, rude and he was threating to us. Worst experience in Norway. I don`t recommend this camp.
It is completely over full with tents pitched within 50cm of each other despite their 3m rule, simply because the never turn anyone away. The showers are old and too few for the amount of people. Its right next to the somewhat noise road. It is by far the worst camping ground I have been to in my 2 weeks in Norway. I give it 1 star for it's beautiful location.
Cabins are small but cosy. Has treks nearby and a shuttle to starting point of Trolltunga.
In high season, camp site is overcrowded and there not enough kitchen utilities for everyone.
Nice reception. Small place at the lake without swimming in Odda, is fully occupied until vomiting (no privacy) with completely inadequate sanitary facilities, which were completely filthy.
Cramped and poor with space, very messy and not system
This is basically the only base camp before Trolltunga. Prior to arrival you have to eat mostly proteins for a week to be able to climb this high mountain. 1/5 make it to the top. Also, you're not allowed to wash your dishes in the bathroom More
Beautiful view over the lake but that's about it. Very crowded with cars in between the already packed tents, also very expensive. A lot of campers and caravans. Showers, hot water for 5 minutes, expensive as well. There are lines for the only two available sinks for dishwashing. The kitchen is a nice extra, but I can imagine it will be extremely busy in high season.
Legendary review:
1. Great location for planning a hike to Trolltunga
2. Shared bathrooms. So needs more frequent sanitation.
3. Gotta pay 20nok for 5min hot shower.
4. Gotta clean your room during checkout.
5. Less value for money.
6. Not all ppl maintain safe distance during covid times.
For a hike nearby, it's okay for a stopover.
For some people in the first row, the view of the water and the mountains is great and you are partly in the shade.
Unfortunately it got full in the evening and therefore quite loud. It will be more difficult to get a good sleep early. It is also next to a street, which increases the background noise, but especially during the day.
The sanitary facilities are too few, not well preserved and badly organized. Women and men share all the facilities (excluding a separate women's toilet). There are hardly any mirrors. But the showers are expensive at 20 crowns.
Unfortunately, the kitchen is too small with two sinks. But it is equipped with a few hotplates and in the shelter there is a refrigerator that you can use.
I was only here for a shower but yeah, I did get the feeling that it was veryyy crowded. However, shower wise, it was great. The shower rooms have just enough space and it s 20 nok per 5 minutes. The water can be as hot as scalding if you want. Even without the coins, cold water would run. Reception staff were also ok with me using the tables to make my food here. #blessed This rocks!
Very nice place. Usually very crowded during summer time but you will find a spot for your tent. Prices for tents are not on the website that's why I'm posting them here: 1 tent (1.4x2m) costs 180 NOK and each person 10 NOK per night. Drinking water is provided. They do have public bathrooms and showers for 20 NOK/5 min. . You can cook in a kitchen if you don't have any other options. Phones can be charged at the reception for free. Staff is really friendly, everything is clean.
Of all the campings we have been in Norway, the worst, has a small space and fill it to the top of tents, glued next to each other without order or control, we went on route and when the space for the car arrived It was already busy, problems we had to park. Insufficient toilets and showers for so many people, you have to queue for everything and impossible to find them clean. It was also the most expensive, 350 NOK per day and the shower was paid separately, the washing machine did not work and the dryer was impossible to find free. The only good thing is the location, in front of a fjord. We do not recommend it.
A lot of noise from the hallway and the front door made the whole room shake every time it was closed. We recommend not getting a room near the front doors.
Very helpful staff and facilities were exactly what is to be anticipated. They have bathrooms, a kitchen, a drying room and a small outdoor communal dining area. Unfortunately we got stuck with 3 nights of bad rain but still it was a great selection with the bus to trolltunga stopping here. I would recommend anyone looking for a cheaper alternatives to hotels to grab a tent and camp here.
Nice camping site with nice views. There are no toilets for all the seats.
Overcrowded, dirty place
Broken sockets, dirty showers and toilets.
Never again...
Camping located beautifully on the lake, great views, amazing surroundings. Rotation at the campsite is very large, because most guests come here for a short time treating this camping as a base for a trip to Trolltunga. Other attractions such as Folgefonna or Latefossen waterfall are nearby.
Beautiful place, cottages estimate at 5, amazing views. I recommend seeing the place :)
Close to Trolltung, but ... expensive, the price does not have a shower. Extra paid in a 20NOK coin-operated machine. Public kitchen very small and with one kettle. The camping itself is also small. In the season besieged.
The camping was too expensive but the stay was ok. It is very shameful that you even have to pay for hot water.
Much too crowded and warm water is only available in limited quantities. The showers are not very big either and cost 20 NOK.
Far too expensive camping and you are close to each other. Quickly drove to an alternative.
The place has a beautiful location. The sanitary facilities are not up to date. Men and women showers or toilets are right next to each other ... not possible! The cleanliness left a lot to be desired.
The location is great ... everything else "better not"
great place to stay; cheap and pretty. we stayed by the lake and it was awesome. toilets and bathrooms are clean and the people were really nice.
200 crowns for 2 people with a tent. Shower 20 crowns for 5 minutes of warm water. Clogged but what to do, a lot of people in front of trolltunga sleep there and after getting off the trail
You could just camp in the woods. But if you want the comforts of clean bathrooms, showers, kitchen, wifi, & charging. Then it's a good olace to stay. Right by the lake & the staff are awesome. Does get full quickly & can get loud & crowded.
It was fine but I'm glad our stay was short - and I don't want to come back. It was very crowded and a bit outdated. My advice: shower as soon as you can and cook fast. There was a line for everything, people were doing wash in the bathroom sinks, and the kitchen is very small (one stove-top with 4 hot spots). I'm glad our stay wasn't long. Again it was fine, but for that many people the common areas are insane.
Small square, ideal as a starting point for many hikes. Overcrowded already in the preseason. Unfortunately too few toilets for so many tourists. Hygiene suffers.
A good camping. Stayed and took a shower. However, the lock on the door was broken
The starting point is this place is nice but it was all too many campers, cars, wagons and tents there. Small distance between.
