Love the food here, but the views are awesome. Tho...
Love the food here, but the views are awesome. Those hush puppies are delicious

Food is good but Oceanic's ocean views stole the show.
Great atmosphere. Only restaurant you can sit out on the pier in wilmington
Really wonderful view and live music. Typically crowded, noisy, and I've had inconsistent experiences with the food.
Not a great experience..
Probably should have known better than eat at the beach on Mother's Day, especially being a "local"...
Given the run-around abbout a table, even after being told something different on the phone, questioned me as if I hadn't called.
When we were seated it was next to the bathroom with 2 large parties with at least 7 kids under 10 (us..3 adults)...
Food was mediocre at best...
You have what could be a jewel...but you were severly understaffed for what was called brunch.
You can't beat the view but we probably won't be back and I hate to admit it..
We have been here it was a pier restaurant.
Such a disappointment...just to make matters worse, my Mother hasn't left the restroom since we made it home!
Large, gorgeous, modern dining room with huge windows overlooking the ocean. The calamari is, and I do not say this lightly, the best calamari I've EVER had. My husband agreed. Our waiter rcvd a table of 20 just before we were seated, and was understandably busy, but we felt like "second fiddle" most of our meal. Expect at least an hour wait in peak season. Worth the wait. One of the Great restaurants of Wrightsville Beach!
Nice atmosphere, nice service and fine food.
Is recommended
Good meal and excellent service in a wonderful setting.
Nice view and great food. Service was very polite and helpfull
A little disappointed even with limited menu due to COVID-19. Its been a lot better in the past. Will revisit again hopefully get back on track.
1st time being here....rude staff. Thinking this restaurant will have nice staff because it s on the pier and beachfront. Came to the bar for a drink and no one bothered in serving us. Had to ask if someone can help us and the lady with blonde hair said that she would help us in a minute because she was busy getting someone else s order. Waited 20 mins and asked if I wanna can just get a drink, and the lady said that we can t stand at the end of the bar that he had to move over towards the other end to be attended, yet she s serving other people coming to the bar. So I asked another gentleman, who was polite, and asked if he can get us a drink and politely said sure. The lady in the blonde interrupted the conversation and said that he can t serve us because he s a server and not a bartender. She was obviously the only bartender there. Another bartender came and was super nice and got our drink order. As we were waiting, the lady bartender was serving more customers. We got our drink and then a server came over and said to another server, Can you tell them to move? They re in the way and there s chaos there. So I asked the server guy if we were on the way and he said nicely, no. In conclusion, they could be re trained on customer service and have better attitudes and be nice to customers. Not sure if me and my family will be back to this restaurant.
I have been coming to this restaurant for over 20 years, but tonight was the first time I really didn t have a good meal. The ambience, the choice of eating inside overlooking the ocean or outside on the pier, and the wait staff was good. But the food has really dropped in quality over the years. The seafood menu is limited, the choice of a baked potato is gone, and the little plastic container of slaw was pathetic. For a nice restaurant, my seafood platter was a handful of fried shrimp over a bed of French fries. I will not be back until I hear that the food has returned to its former selection and quality of the Oceanic I have always expected.
Eaten here several times. Always good food. Great wait staff as well. Awesome views from top level.
This delicious meal crab stuff salmon whit a side salad the best i had eat down here at NC. I'll recommend this place to my friends and family
Food is great. Service is slow sometimes, and some of the staff is kind of bitchy like they're too good to be working there. But the food is worth it.
The ambience of sitting outside and experiencing the site and sounds of the waves is charming. The restaurant is spacing tables out for social distancing while this pandemic is in effect and the salty sea air feels invigorating. My only disappointment was the restaurant's lack of consideration for vegan/vegetarian diets. For them I found not even an appetizer. But, the service was good and there was a decent selection of beer and wine to satisfy most people's wants.
A little slow on getting food out. Food is great and the staff is friendly.
Food ( crab dip and fritters) were awesome and so was our server!
Usually I love this place but Easter Sunday is not the day to go. 3 meals ordered, 3 meals wrong. None of the meals had the components listed on the menu.
Bacon wrapped shrimp and Crab cakes are amazing! Sit out on the Pier for the best experience.
Fried Oysters w/remoulade appetiser did not disappoint!
The Jerk chicken Sandwich and the Blackened Salmon Ceasar Salad...excellent
Service took an hour to get food and then the food was soggy. Wasn't good
However the manager was good to us after we complained
Nice local spot. Not a lot of non seafood items though. I am allergic to shellfish and found it very difficult to order something besides an overpriced steak. The views are amazing especially sitting on the pier. Desserts were ALL top notch.
Arrived and estimate 1 hr wait. Restaurant was half empty. Waited 1 hr and told there were 21 ahead of us. Left.
Food was ok, I've had better. Sangria was watered. Staff was wonderful.
So overpriced. You pay fine dining prices for what is essentially fish shack dishes. Their signature dish is fried fish platters. But, don't worry, you can get a bottle of Opus One to go with that. What?!?!?! They are getting away with these prices because they have pier dining. Whatever. Avoid the overpriced ordinariness and go to East at the Blockade Runner where the prices match the excellence.
The menu is limited, but that does mean that the food isn't! We came here about 5 yrs ago and the views from the restaurant are the same: beautiful!
Service and the foodwas great. Very fast and an awesome place to have dinner and see the ocean
Great Food, I always make my way to Oceanic Oceanfront Restaurant when I'm in Wilmington. The food is delicious and I love the atmosphere. The sound of the waves, fresh seafood & total relaxation all wrapped up in one.
By far the WORST experience. From talking with many other unfortunate customers this evening, our opinion was universally felt.
I'm trying to think of one single positive aspect of this waisted evening in order to support the 1 star rating but nothing comes to mind.
Everything from the unorganized and rude host staff, to the watered down drinks, and best of all, the bland undercooked food! This is a night I will always remember to ensure that I dont give another penny of my money to the oceanic.
Went there about 5:30pm on a Tuesday and the service was okay, but the fried flounder was mushy (frozen) and NOT the best Calabash on the Crystal Coast as the menu stated. Everything was greasy fried which means the fry oil was not hot enough. The hushpuppies were as bad as the flounder. I've had better seafood at the farmer's market in Raleigh at 1/3 the price. I probably will not return. I won't mention how noisy the dining room was.
Staff was great...food was not. Salmon Ceasar dish was like a child size portion of Salmon. Crab soup was the same tiny cup. Hushpuppies were oil saturated.
Nice place, A/C too cold inside. Awesome hush puppies.
Always great food and service!!! Can't get enough of the setting! !!
Food was great and consistently fresh. Great place to eat if you want a nice view of the beach.
On a short vacation to Wilmington and had to come here to celebrate a very special birthday and family reunion. Had spoken with Ali on the phone in advance and she was very pleasant.
What a wonderful lunch! We (group of 6 adults) arrived around 2:15 right near the end of Sunday brunch. Kylie was our waitress, she was very attentive, personable and helped to make the dining experience so much more enjoyable. We were so pleased that we had a choice of breakfast or lunch. The meals were delicious. We ordered the flounder, salmon, crab Benedict and fried clam strips. Oh, and can't forget the she crab chowder and hush puppies, absolutely yummy.
Portions are definitely plentiful, so much so that only two of us even attempted dessert, and we had to share that. Key lime pie with whipped cream and raspberry was heavenly. Prices very, very reasonable especially considering the size of portions and quality of the food.
I understand that the Oceanic had extensive remodeling (required by significant hurricane damage) and it looks beautiful. The only issue is I wish I could give more than 5 stars!! Thank you.
Kylie, Ali and the rest of the staff who assisted, thank you so much for making the afternoon such an enjoyable experience. You don't know how much we appreciated it!
Took 1 hour for food, no refill on drinks and food was marginal.
The Oceanic was a disappointment today. Small servings big price. We had to ask for the slaw that went with our platters. The slaw was just cabbage. I ordered flounder and was served white fish. My husband ordered oysters and received 6 for $15. We have always loved it but after today I don't know. Too many great restaurants near by to waste time and money. Please try harder.
First off, I'll start with the good. The view from the second and third floor is really good and the restaurant itself looks nice. Really great location for sure. Now the food was not so good. At least what I ordered was awful. Of course, it is usually a bad decision to not get seafood at a beachside restaurant. But the jerk chicken sandwich sounded really good on the menu. So I ordered that and received one of the worst sandwiches I've ever had. The chicken was tasteless and way overcooked and it had really sour vegetables on it. It would have been nice if the waiter had asked how it was because I would have had it switched for something else, but no the waiter didn't ask and he also messed up several people's orders and tried to have them pay for meals they didn't even order. I tried some shrimp someone else ordered and it was good and so were the hush puppies that they gave out as appetizers but other than those things, it was not a great experience. To top it off, I was annoyed as soon as I walked in when I saw that they don't want you to conceal carry in their restaurant. That was a huge no-go for me but my group had already made up their mind about this place.
Food was good, but service and atmosphere was horrible. Our actual server was great, but they set us (3 people) next to a party of 20 plus people celebrating an anniversary. There were plenty of other tables available. We ordered a salad with shrimp, but they forgot the shrimp. Never apologized for anything. If you are looking to have a nice dinner, don t go here.
The "new twist on shrimp and grits" was not good at all. Sampson County can show you a thing or two about shrimp and grits!
Used to be my favorite spot on Wrightsville until the redo. Interior looks great but the food was terrible. Waittress was nice, but did not know anything about the menu. We had to ask for water twice, and to start, the hushpuppies came out cold and seemed to be pure oil.
Next, the crab dip was also only oil and butter with semi toasted bread.
For dinner, my crab cakes came with a random french fry on the plate, just felt weird. It was next to the rice which had a dry, crunchy skin over the top as if it had been sitting out way too long. I think the pictures will show this clearly. Cakes did have alot of crab meat but were too salty.
My mom who ordered the crab cakes as well, received a plate without the rice completely...
Our aunt ordered the blue cheese burger which arrived without blue cheese, and a salad when she asked for fries.
And after several other strange details with plating and serving, we had to flag down the waittress for silverware and napkins - after the food was on the table, lol.
After asking for the check, we then watched our waittress stop for 5 minutes to take a picture of another table, which is a long time when you mention you re in a rush.
Bar tenders were fun and efficient on the pier.
Fortunately we were there to enjoy the company of friends and family and that was what mattered most, but very dissapointing after looking forward to this place on the 4th of July beach week, especially considering the price point.
Great view, good lunch, reasonable prices.
I personally didn't really like my shrimp scampi. Overpowered by tomato and very runny.
The crab cakes were very good and had plenty of crab. Hush puppies have real corn in them and are delicious.
Shrimp Scampi
Crab Cake
Hush Puppies
Sadly the O is closed for a complete overhaul due to hurricane florence. East Coast Maintenance is working very hard to breathe life back into our favorite restaurant. We are hoping to be recieving their legendary food and service by December.
One of the best places to get seafood around Wilmington. Must visit spot for anyone traveling to the area. Great food with an even better atmosphere outside.
Short wait, kind and attentive staff. I had a piece of the catch of the day which was a grilled mahi which for $24. SO SALTY!!! I was only able to take a bite of this and the side vegetable which was spinach which was also way too salty. The seasonal vegetables of snow peas was pretty good. Unfortunately best part of my meal was the side salad. I think the waiter should have asked why I didn t eat more than a bite of my fish. The kids salmon for $5.99 was a much better deal.
My family of 5 ate dinner at the oceanic. It was the worst experience ive had in north carolina. Our food was not tasty by any means. For the cost of each entree i would have expected a little flavor at the very least. The drinks were to strong. Needless to say we payed for 5 plates of food that didnt get eatten.
I love this place! I come here every time I'm at Wrightville beach. The prices are a little high, but the food is worth it. Great views of the ocean too!
One of my favorites of all time. I have nothing but great things to say. Service is wonderful, food is incredible. Worth every penny.
This was the most impressive experience I have had at a restaurant in a long time. Starting off with the new look. I was excited to see the changes after the reopening. The team did a fantastic job with the remodel! What a beautiful establishment. Everything was clean, organized, and spacious. The location right by the ocean made for a very relaxing evening.
Then the service. We came in on a busy Saturday night, during a beautiful weekend. We were quoted a wait of 45min to an hour of a wait. Our table was then ready after about 30min. Once we were sat, we didn't have to wait very long before our server, Jeremie, came to greet us. He was the absolute best! He explained the specials very well and was able to answer every question we had. We had our minds made up by that time so we ordered our appetizer and entree at the same time. Our appetizer came out very quickly and was so very good. A perfect size for two.
Again, we didn't wait very long after that until our entrees were delivered. The food was fresh and delicious! I ordered the crab stuffed salmon, and the salmon was so perfectly cooked, it practically melted in my mouth. It was perfection. A female manager, with long blonde hair, came to do a table touch and was very pleasant. We also had a delightful visit from the General Manager as well, asking how our sercser was.
Looking around, the staff all looked like they loved their jobs. The doors were held open for every guest walking by, the managers helping run food and talking to guests, overall the absolute best experience. I hope the entire staff gets a pat on the back because they definitely deserve it for working as hard as they were, but keeping smiles on their faces the whole time. We will be returning for sure next time we are in town. Bravo!!
Have been coming to Oceanic for years. Very disappointed that upstairs is no longer open for lunch! View from inside on first level is not good. Will probably go to Cape Fear Seafood for lunch in the future.
Great view of course and the waitress on pier was excellent. Great appetizers especially the Thai Shrimp. The only negative was inside bar tender. Acted like he was doing us a favor being there.
Cool restaurant on the old Oceanic pier. If the weather permits, sit out on the pier and maybe see some dolphins swim by.
You want fresh seafood and to eat it by the ocean there's only one place the oceanic. Go inside if it's a little bit chilly or outside on the long deck pure dining area and enjoy the true surf and turf. It has a wonderful menu to choose from and a wine selection affair with any entree.
Very nice shrimp, seemed like some of the freshest I've had at a restaurant. Solid fish and chips, although the fries are average like all seafood places.
Out side sitting and the music. Food is very good little pricey
Not that great selection chowder cold didn't enjoy food
Great food! I love the Po'boy sandwich with shrimp!
Good food. However, the price isn't on par with food.
Service was not good. Water glass went dry.Crab sandwich dripping with tartar sauce, hard top bun,dry crab meat ,unripe slice tomato slice.
Great view and the food is good. Best view at Wrightsville Beach.
The nicest thing about this restaurant was the view! Service and the food was mediocre at best. Will not visit again!
