Attended a wedding on 7/8/18 and it was absolutely stunning. Incredible views, beautiful lawn, nice patio area, and all staff members were incredibly attentive and kind. The view of sunset through the large reception hall windows was unreal. The only thing is that there was another party going on nearby at the resort and I could hear them during the ceremony. Other than that, perfection!
Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Turned water on in bathroom sink and it was rusty. No vending machines if you want a snack. No mini fridges in the room to keep drinks or snacks. Have to drive into town if you want a snack. Called front desk because room was to hot and they told me to open a window. Its 25 degrees outside. Its either to hot or to cold. No comfort zone. Apparently it's central heat and the staff controls the thermostat. The only reason I gave it one star is location. Way over priced for what you get or don't get.
What an amazing location, right on the shore in a huge castle of a place. However the food was really, really, not living up to the setting. Dry beef, salmon and chicken, dead salads, the only thing mildy nice was the pasta which was very basic
Absolutely adored this resort hotel where we attended a big family wedding. Nothing was too much trouble for staff to help us and make us comfortable. They even helped find my partner's lost cell phones well done for that. I would definitely highly recommend this hotel.
The best part is the view! Also had a perfectly spicy bloody mary and hung out with the friendly bar tender. I would recommend the cheese board and the soft pretzels.
We had our wedding here and it was absolutely perfect. It has a beautiful set up with gorgeous views. The food is excellent and the service was fantastic
Everytime I go there its at least a 15min wait at the bar which is odd since no one goes to the bar. Food is waaay overpriced and the saddest part is the best thing on the menu is the pretzels and even that takes 20mins. Ordered clam chowda over the weekend anc received a cold shot glass of milk. I wait 30min wait for a warm glass of 8 dolar isn't a way to run a restaurant. I'd hate to have a wedding there
Beautiful property, only a 10mon drive from Thames St. Highly recommended for a romantic trip for two! My significant other and I had an absolutely lovely few days. Very clean, very well kept, friendly and helpful staff, picturesque views like no other!
Fantastic views. Have to pay for your own shampoo. Quiet area 9 min from mansions. Restaurant on site not in sink with the front desk. Great room layouts. Nice hot tub and pool.
The room was beautiful and there were amazing views, but it is an old house. The walls are paper thin. If you're paying more than a couple hundred dollars for 1 night you want to be able to get some sleep instead of feeling like you're actually in the room with your neighbors who sound like they are making an xxx rated movie. Also, our room was by the stairs so every time someone went up or down all we heard was the creaking stairs. Did not sleep at all. This is a fantastic place to hold a wedding, but not to sleep.
Beautiful property, great views from outdoor dining room, delicious lunch (the glazed salmon was a fresh take on a favorite). Excellent service. So enjoyable that my wife and I are thinking of going to stay over some weekend. Well worth the trip. Highly recommended!
Seriously cannot beat the view. And, they have half-price small plates M-F from 3-5, so you can't beat that either!! We ordered 4 small plate dishes between 2 people and couldn't eat everything, although it was perfectly delicious! Service was great and vibe was perfect. Thinking we'll make this a weekly thing!
Could not ask for a more beautiful view of a sunset in Newport. Food was great. My birthday dessert was a chocolate mousse cake ..so delicious .Better yet on the house.
Check in began rocky, but everyone did everything they could to make us feel welcome and earn our trust. The restaurant had great food and VAL is an AMAZING waitress!!! I have never experienced someone better with my children and keeping up with us. She alone is why this rating is a 5. The hotel staff as a whole was impressive. Thanks for a great birthday weekend!
Beautiful view but deck is in need of maintenance, Charged extra fee for housecleaning but room is not clean with hairs on the bed, Nice fireplace but only allow to use 15 minutes every hour, We paid for two nights but left after one. Wall is too thin, neighbors are too loud. Will not visit again!!
We went to a wedding. Outstanding views. Lovely building. Comfortable space. The food at the wedding was excellent. My only complaint was the lack of staff during the event. The cocktail hour buffet had no napkins or silverware and it was difficult to find someone to help. Soon the waite staff started bringing hors d'oeuvres and soon after, the silverware. Inside at dinner, we never saw the staff after the food was delivered. I was desperate for water and had to get up and walk to another room, where the bar was set up, to ask for water. A manager came over with a pitcher and just filled my glass but no one else's. The others at the table were very frustrated. But other then those two incedents, it was a beautifully done wedding; a beautiful setting indeed.
Well this hotel needs a lot of work old and dingy. Terrible staff. They were actually very rude durring the check in process. Kinda took me by surprise. It was like they didn't want us there at all. Would never stay there again.
We were attending a wedding and staying overnight. Beautiful old castle hotel. The wedding was beautiful with amazing backdrop of the bay. Food and service at the wedding was excellent. The concierge, bellhops and all the other staff was very friendly and accommodating. The only gripe is that the room needed a little maintenance. The bathroom doorknob fell off a few times and the old vintage furniture needed some minor repairs. Having a mini fridge in the room would be nice as well. Overall it was an excellent experience
ZERO STARS!!!! Let me be clear....the wedding hasn't even happened yet and this has been the most miserable experience I have ever had (and I have 3 daughter to marry off). They are rude, unprofessional and there are so many different contact people that the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is promising. They told us that we had to buy up all the rooms in the resort if we were to have the place to our self for our wedding weekend (Nov. 29th), even though my 78 year old parents had no need for the room both nights, they did it any way. Now that we are less than a month away from the ceremony, we find out there is a wedding there on FRIDAY and we have to squeeze the rehearsal in at 4pm, before thew 5pm wedding!!!! They lied and said "we never told you that" great customer service right....and the sales person that sold us the package no longer works there; I wonder why!
All in all, run and have your wedding at the Wequassett Resort in Chatham, MA and tell Kelson Pang I sent you. You won't be disappointed there!
