Norwich Theatre Royal Review

It's a theatre with friendly staff, clean space and good shows!

Over the year it has something for all tastes. But beware everything gets booked up quickly. Some say it is expensive, but some pay the same to get cold and wet watching a group of men running around after a bag of air. ;-)

The show was great. (Dino world) kids loved it.
Food and drink isnt no cheaper or expensive than expected from a venue.

It's a great theatre providing a wonderful mix of productions.

Brilliant performance of 'the band', I highly recommend it. Theatre was clean and well equipped. Staff were friendly and ice-cream in interval weren't a rip off! Don't wear too many layers as it got very hot in theatre.

Fantastic as always. I do wish they'd stop selling sweets in noisy bags!

The play (cold Hill) was dreadful. Really bad acting, sound effects and visual effects. Surprised, as Theatre usually shows excellent performances. So dissapointed...there were 7 of us and we all agreed.

Have spent many wonderful evenings at this theatre. A lovely atmosphere. It is quite a big theatre, so sitting at the back doesn't make for the best view, but very comfortable.

See the Christmas panto 'Aladdin', superb show as always. Fabulous theatre, been many times over the years, wonderful theatre, 5*****

Could not understand /hear some of the dialogue, which spoilt it for me as I did not know the story. I had been told this from other friends who had been to see the show.

Seating was great in rear stalls, you could see well from all over.

Very comfortable theatre. More leg room than most theatres. Wheelchair access. Friendly and helpful staff. Will definitely go back.

A quality, smart and well maintained theatre in the middle of the Fine city of Norwich.

Nice venue, front stalls end up looking upward to the stage.

Could hardly hear the actors on The Full Monty. The Stage set was pretty static. But it was okay. On another note they need to sort out the taps, there was literally gallons of water wasted as the taps turn themselves off. Horrible seeing all that water going down the drain.

Another visit to this fantastic theatre. Panto was v good, as always, and the theatre staff were their usual friendly efficient selves. Thanks

Absolutely fabulous!! Can't recommend it enough....

I always love going to the theatre. I like the fact that when you go to your seat's there is plenty of leg room your not all hemed in. There are lots of choices of food if you would like a meal before your show. I would highly recommend the theatre to every one.

Great place for a show. We had dinner at the Assembly House but the theatre has snack food and a restaurant of its own. We saw the Bodyguard with Alexandria Burke. I would say that the whole cast and crew were amazing. Well worth the money

Great place to watch all the best shows, comedians and some bands without having to go to Cambridge or that London.

Lots of parking, restaurants and pubs around the area and the Theatre Royal has its own good food and bar.

The only thing to watch out for is tickets at the back of the ground floor can be much more expensive than the seats above it, yet you are the same distance away from the stage.

Allows mobility scooters. Has coffee shop. Shows are always excellent

We go to the Norwich theatre quite often. Have just seen The Bodyguard with Alexander Burke, fabulous. A real superstar . Enjoyed the show very much.

Haven't seen a show in years but had good memories, recently went on a backstage tour day and found it really interesting, even if you are not interested in theatre I highly recommend the tours if they do them again

Can never do enough for you. I'm a wheelchair user and they are the best seats in the house! Thanks to all that volunteer at the Theatre Royal.

A really nice environment in which to watch a production.

Lovely venue but seating access for disabled is poor

Well organised but seating tight and you are forever getting up and down to let people in
But great atmosphere!!

Theatre is lovely show ok but was very hard to hear what the children were singing. It was not just me and my family other people were moaning about it as well

Lovely theatre. Brilliant show. Certainly gives the feel good factor. If you want a couple of hours of light entertainment then book to see Club Tropicana

We feel the theatre and staff were very well prepared for last nights performance as regards Covid. We felt safe and secure, and felt everything possible had been done to prevent spread and keep staff and public safe. Thankyou to them all.

Excellent productions by Glyndebourne Touring Opera of La Traviata and Cendrillon. Such a treat to have this sort of quality on our doorstep. I just wish performances here would start on time!!!

A modern entertainment venue in Norwich that has a really good bill of varied and top class performances throughout the year at reasonable prices. The auditorium is well designed and all seating is comfortable and offers a good view. I have visited many times and always enjoy the experience.

Went to see Matilda at Norwich TR - excellent show in every way and well recommended for all ages.

Finally saw CATS. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Got a bit hot during intermission. Next time I'll take hand held fan.

Always a wonderful theatre with superb entertainment on offer

Brilliant night watching two national treasures, des o connor and jimmy tarbuck. Good humour with lots of laughs.

Friendly people, nice place to be, been many times, this visit show not so good, but already booked for next visit.

Went for Matilda, which was great. The theatre itself is good. We had middle circle seats half way back and had good views. Several bars so queues move quickly at the interval. Can't take plastic glasses into the show for some reason, so have to make do with plastic bottles or cans.

The Panto was amazing. So well done. Had a great time with my family. Felt very safe and happy socially distanced from people. Your staff were so well in informing us of the rules etc without being officicious and still being friendly.

Aladdin - almost certainly the best pantomime we've ever been to

I came to the Theatre Royal on Saturday 14th August to the Sound of Music Production.

I had a fantastic evening. It was the best musical that our family had been to.

The theatre facilities and staff were good. Good sound (better than the West End theatres we had been to!) , Good comfortable seats, good sorbets on sale during the interval. As you can tell we had a good time!

Fabulous theatre. Excellent restaurant and bar. Always have top class performances. Highly recommended.

Bad vocals , rubbish support act , not worth ticket fee

Always a joy to our cultural enjoyment. Plenty of renown shows coming up from the West End at fraction of the price. Meals before show can be booked. Only issues are leg room on lower price bands.

Watched rocky horror picture show sing along, was so great an amazing atmosphere with the host getting everyone involved with everything so many people turned up to the viewing dressed up everyone had so much fun in my group we had even those that had never seen it before

An amazing performance of Matthew Bourne's Red Shoes. Always a wonderful production. Been many times before. Next one is MaMa Mia in March.

First time visit and very impressed. Auditorium seats comfortable. Theatre facilities generally very good.

Lovely theatre. Need to stop selling sweets and crisps! People non stop eating spoils the ambience

Watched Les Miserables. Excellent performance. Rear stalls row R. Perfect view.

What a lovely place for an evening's entertainment with your family

Healthy programme of productions all year round. Tickets tend to sell quickly (There is a Friends membership scheme). Pantos are always well attended -my son has been to several there with his Scout group and thoroughly enjoyed himself (Oh yes he has :-))
