If I could give them 0 stars I would. After my Dad was done with his 48 month contract, he called to cancel service. They billed him again, and was told that it had to be in writing. He wrote a letter of cancellation and was billed again, and was told it had to be in his handwriting and signed not printed. I personally feel this company is guilty of elderly abuse. They threatened my parents with collection action, and continue to harass them over the phone even though contract is up and my Dad cancelled service 3 different ways. Stay away from this company.

I never leave negative reviews, but I feel like it is necessary. This company has never been honest or reputable. A while ago, they told us we needed to cancel our contract before August 20th. We call today to cancel and they have already auto renewed the policy. We are stuck in another contract for 18 months with a company who has very poor customer service and even worse home security services. Please do not use this company.

Don t subscribe. After 10 years of unremarkable service, I cancel having to relocate due to COVID. They continue to bill me and are sure to ding my credit. Their reps have zero ability to make any decisions. In this case, would actually have preferred a web robot. Not even sure why they are there. Did not sense an ounce of empathy. Obviously from all the other negative reviews, this is the way they choose to do business. I ll be going out of my way to warn others not to work with North Star Alarm.

Awful company when it comes to customer service.

I called to cancel 12 months before my contract expired, they noted my account accordingly and can still see where I made that request but refuse to honor my request to cease billing. I paid, in full, for 12 months of service for a house I had sold just to fulfill the contact.

Service rep I spoke to, Caden Bowler, reads from a script and has refused to elevate my issue stating there s not really anyone I can escalate your account to . He actually said that in writing! Talk about bad faith and deceptive business practices, this company actively engages in both. They do not return calls, only respond to an email after 3 attempts and generally care about nothing but taking your money.

I have filed a BBB complaint and will continue to let others know Northstar is a disreputable company.

Wish there was a MINUS ZERO. Customer service is TERRIBLE. Sales department does not help. I called to cancel and they only wanted to sell more. So now without the 60 days advance of the end of the contract it AUTO RENEWS another 18 months and you are SCREWED!!! They are swindlers. They are liars. They act like they want to help and that they care but they do NOT. STAY AWAY!!!

THIS COMPANY IS FRAUDULENT
Northstar Alarm Service has consistently taken money from our checking account for over 3 years even when they are not providing any services. All effort to make them stop proved abortive. Their door bells don't work and their customer service is zero it took them.more than a year to come to the house to check the problem after which their techincal person couldnt solve the problem and confirmed it was not working. We told them to discontinue the payment which they promised to but the payment has continued for years. They know what they are doing and they don'tt care that's why they have not made any effort to refute any review done here. They can't deny the claims by all the different customers, a lot of people are having the same experience. The company is IRRESPONSIBLE. The Compnay is a SCAM BEWARE dont be the next victim look for a better company to do business with BE WARNED!!

My contract was auto-renewed from the previous owner of the property. This was in small letter in the transfer contract. I didn't notice. Now, they won't allow me to cancel service without penalty even though i am not using service. Penalty is very high .

This is a fraud company . There are many other good option for alarm service and there is no reason to use this company. I would highly recommend to avoid this company

I would never recommend. All roses when you are signing up. But after being a paying customer for years i tried to cancel my service at the end of the contract. Thats when they changed. The ended up auto extending my contract against my wishes.

If anyone is looking for alarm service dint go with NorthStar alarm services they are a rip off.
I had them and the alarm worked fir about a year. When the alarm stopped working I called for service and they informed me they do not service the equipment and I was on my own. So I wanted to cancel the service and was told I was in a three year contract. And that the contract will terminate in January 2021. So I have paid this contract for three years with no service. Looked at my bank statement today and they charged me for February when I called, they told me that the contract has auto renewed for 18 months. They neglected to tell me that they need to 60 days written notice in order to terminate the contract. So now I m stuck paying for another 18 months. Pretty sure I m going to send them a certified letter and tell them to cancel the contract. Because I already sent them an email and they conveniently say they miss placed it you can t cancel all over the phone it Hass to be written and they will continue to renew my contract until I can find someone to cancel it 60 days before the end of some date

Deceptive contracts and auto renewals. We have been locked into a contract with these people for the last 5 years. My wife contacted them 3 years ago wishing to cancel, when she discovered the contract that she thought was a 2-3 years, was actually a five year contract. She told the rep she wanted to cancel, and did not want to renew at that time. Today 2 years later, we just got off the phone with NorthStar, only to discover that in order to cancel we would have had to send them something in writing, 60 days prior to term ending, and that our 5 YEAR contract has already AUTO RENEWED for an other 18 months. This is the firs we were ever told about the renewal automatically happening and that any cancelation needed to be done in writing 60 days prior. We chose this company to protect us from theft, looks like theft is precisely what they specialize in, contractual theft. If you look at my other reviews you will know I am fair, and usually give 4-5 stars, so you can see this is a special case and they have truly earned my displeasure. If you chose to go with this company do so at your own risk.
