A friend of mine had heart surgery in the past and the care was awesome. On the other hand, my mother is currently a patient in Solutions treatment center at Tahlequah City Hospital. It is a mental health facility for the elderly. As far as elder care treatment, I wouldn't refer my worst enemy to this unit. They keep the patients zombied out. I was told by one of the nurses that they have to keep people with my mother's disease that way. She also told me that they don't let these elderly people go to bed during the day. My mother attempted and they told her she couldn't. I was a witness to that. She did it anyway but told me they were going to get her up. My mother is 92. This is no way to treat a 92 year old woman. I told my sister and asked the nurse to tell my sister what she told me and she lied and denied she told me those two facts. Proof is in the pudding. My sister sat there with my mother and saw that she was zombied out and also knew she had to stay out in the main area and wasn't able to go to bed so obviously the nurse lied to her. This place is horrible. I relate it to 'One flew over the cuckoo's nest'. All of the patients look spaced out. I hope this text can save other elderly people from going through this torture. I love my mother dearly and I have cried for 3 days seeing her in this place. It is a poor excuse for a facility. I rated it one star, only because it wouldn't let me rate it less than that. Tahlequah City Hospital should get rid of this unit. It is horrible.

They make patients who do not have insurance wait while the patients with insurance are seen first. This has happened to me on numerous times not to mention making me wait 2 and half hours while the nurses and Dr's laughed and joked around. They really suck. People with no insurance might actually die before their needs are meet.
Not to mention that the EMTs that trasported my mother to the hospital never took her inside to be seen by a Dr before life fighting her to Tulsa nor did they bother to read her dnr and they resuscitated her and they wasn't to have done that but they did so we had to drive to Tulsa and pull the plug on her life support. The quality of care is less than desirable in my opinion. Unfortunately thats the only place I can go if I need too

Way over charged for an MRI, over $10,000 !! To try and get someone to resolve this they won't provide any names of someone who can help. These folks are the one's that give the medical industry a black eye

I had an emergency last year that required immediate attention (will not get into details). They took me in, took half an hour to get me a nurse, then said they were going to get me on IV, but didn't. They out the needle in, gave me some anti-nausea medicine, and left me alone for an hour, gave me an x-ray, and a 2 minute psych evaluation, and then had me wait another hour. After all was done, I was charged $3,000 for the visit alone! The x-ray was $30! Being the only hospital in Tahlequah that is open to everyone, it should accept Soonercare, or at least be a little more helpful! Never going back.

This is the absolute worst hospital I have ever been to. They were rude, would not answer any of my questions, I have never in my life felt so invisible. My mom was taken my ambulance and they made us sit in the waiting room for over 4 hours without letting us see her or give us any real information. Then after 4 hours they said it was special ceromstances and we would not be aloud to speak to her or see her for 72 hours. It was completel bull crap. They took my mother unconscious in an ambulance sunday afternoon, its been a day and half and they will not tell me anything except it is special circumstances. I am beyond upset and worried along with the rest of my family. This hospital is a joke and I regret ever caling then. They are hidding my mother from me and threating to call the cops if I didnt leave the hospital.

They treated my daughter in law disrespectfully like her illness was made up, why can't the Indians give better quality to their patients just cause it's free shouldn't mean they get treated different!

Not very visitor friendly. Uncomfortable chairs in waiting room AND in patient room. The charging station in waiting room had only 3 plugs out of 8 wires working. The staff WAS friendly and helpful.

Front registration staff was friendly. The surgery Counselor was sweet the day before surgery. The day of surgery we had an awesome nurse staff!!! They were really great! However I needed help finding my daughters room after surgery and one nurse I encountered (not one of the nurses my daughter had)
was SO RUDE! She sounded really irritated when I asked her how I could find the room she was in. No need to be that way.

The facility really needs updated. Very old and uncomfortable waiting rooms for surgery patients.

I've had to be at the NHS Tahlequah ER on several occasions over the past few years, unfortunately. But I am always treated with dignity and respect, regardless of the fact that my health is impacted by lifestyle choices, such as smoking. The doctors and nurses are beyond kind, professional, intelligent & caring. One E.R. doctor, Dr. Moore, saved my life several years ago (as did the nurses and others working that day). I saw her again recently and she remembered the details of my accident, including that I fell on and broke my Kindle Fire tablet. I showed her the replacement tablet.
I've lived in Boston, Miami & OKC. NHS Tahlequah meets or exceeds the quality of hospitals in those cities.

I have witnessed first hand the excellent and compassionate service NHS gives to their patients with one of my children. The staff go above and beyond to ensure that everyone, patient and family members alike, are comfortable with the pre-op, procedure and the continuum of care once you leave the hospital. If my family ever needs to be in the hospital, this is where we will go.

Was brought there a couple of days ago after stumbling on some rocks & landing with all my weight right on both my knees. And I'm not a little girl. Somehow gashed one knee so bad needed stitches. It was the only one x'rayed. Nothing for pain. So I've lived in pain since. Dentists have more heart.

I am very dissatisfied with my wife's treatment while at Northeastern Health System. My wife checked in the early afternoon and it took about an hour each time information was disseminated to us ie. "Here's a cup so pee in it and go sit over there" (an hour passes), "we will use the EKG" (another hour passes), "we need to draw blood" (another hour passes before blood is actually drawn), "we don't know what is wrong so we will just prescribe medication and come back tomorrow" (another hour passes), "oh we need to draw more blood" (another hour passes), "oh we changed our minds, we will gave you stay overnight so we can monitor you". Our luck finally picked up when we received our own room until a few hours later around midnight "you'll be having a roommate shortly" (when there's an entire hospital with empty rooms). The room sounded like a house party the first hour causing immediate stress to my wife and I. We then requested for ear plugs and the nurse returns with "oh there's none left, they forgot to restock them."

More to follow...

Oh yeah, hand me the survey immediatly upon my arrival as opposed to the end because once I fill it out in the beginning, customer service goes to $#!T.

Recently my Mother of 94 years, broke her hip and we selected this hospital as it was the closet to us, my Mom received such loving care and they were truly concerned about her well being. My brother and myself were updated constantly by her Doctors, as we were her healthcare Proxy's, and they took such wonderful care of her on the second floor. The nurses, cleaning staff, nutrition staff and Doctors were all invested in her and our comfort. My Mom lost her battle with life a few days after her surgery, but even in our grieving the staff was always checking on us to see if we needed something, bringing in Cookies and drinks to her room for close to two days. I will definitely be using this hospital if my family or myself has the need ever again and I will recommend it to everyone I know. Thank you so much for your caring and dedication to healing and comfort. It really blessed us.

Recently had a couple of procedures done on my fiance over there. So glad they were not done in Muskogee. Believe me there are far far worse places than this to get something done. great staff. Never met anyone unwilling to help. Well trained and able to help. Wish all hospitals could be this good.

I had Gallbladder surgery at another hospital and it went horribly wrong. I was admitted to City Hospital and was there for 5 days. I had the best care and the nicest people. I was re-admitted for the same gallbladder issue a couple of weeks later and they saved my life. Dr. Simpson and Dr. Myers were wonderful. I have not one complaint about the care I received from the nurses, doctors and other staff members. I cannot thank them enough!

The billing system is in terrible shape. My wife had blood drawn in October. She paid the bill on 11/8. The check cleared the bank on 11/17. Yet she received a past due statement that was generated 11/22 and on 12/1 received a collection call. When she explained that it had been paid and cleared she was transferred to the billing department where she had to leave a message. After several hours she left another message. Still no response.

The nursing care is wonderful...but we had some serious issues with housekeeping and the cleaning of my daughter's room. She was there from Monday 1 p.m. to Friday 4 p.m. During that time, housekeeping came in on Mon. Tues and Wed. to empty trash and clean the toilet. Then, while she was having a C Section on Wed. evening, WE (her parents) asked that the room be swept and mopped. The nurse was 'irritated' with the request but got someone to take care of it.
That was the last time anyone came to that room...other than to collect the 'soiled linens' container on Thurs. There was no trash emptied or toilet cleaned on Thurs. or Friday...and certainly no more sweeping/mopping during her post-op time. There was urine on the floor under the catheter bag from Wed. night until check out Friday afternoon.... Never mopped up.
The hallways around the hospital are just 'dirty'... The waiting room where we waited during the C section had not been cleaned in a LONG time from all appearances. I even said something to the OR Nurse who came to bring my son-in-law a covering to put on....He put it on there in that dirty room then went into the OR. I just had to close my eyes and tell myself that would be OK... UGH!
As employees of a huge Health Care System in Tulsa, we know the level of cleanliness and sanitation that SHOULD be present in a hospital. We have advised our daughter to consider having the next baby in Tulsa.

PLEASE NOTE: All that being said...I want to repeat that the nursing staff in the Maternity ward were WONDERFUL. My daughter received personalized treatment as they were not stretched so thin with many patients to care for. It should be noted that there is no lactation consultant working at the hospital. That is NOT a good thing for women giving birth, but I can understand that in a small hospital....
The cleanliness thing, however, is something I just can't get past. It's enough to make one want to seek care for any future hospital stays/births somewhere else.

They really need to get their billing department together. I paid my bill in November, was harassed about it in December, walked proof of payment in full into the hospital in December, and recently received yet another bill statement for the same bill. I am not a happy customer! I will be both mailing and bringing proof in yet again that I did pay my bill in full.

this the most unhelpful emergency room i have ever dealt with!! when you are 2 hours away from your college daughter, you would hope a hospital would be helpful when they are in need but this place did the opposite!! they gave her medicine and when it gave her a rash, they would not give her new medicine unless she came back in and sat another 2 hours to get the same diagnosis they already had!! ridiculous!! i would not recommend going here for any medical needs!!

I had out patient back surgery today. Dr Anagnost and the hospital staff are AMAZING! Hands down best surgery I ve had (if that s a thing). The staff made me so comfortable. They were caring and most importantly they made sure when I woke up from anesthesia that my pain was under control and I wasn t nauseous at all.

Northeastern Health System is a major fail in both Tahlequah and Sallisaw. If I could give zero stars I would. The majority of their nursing staff are incompetent and the doctors are even worse. I was given pain shots, Tylenol, and benadryl for a cardic problem. I left Tahlequah with the same symptoms I arrived with. I do not recommend this place they call a hospital to any one. It's not my first bad experience with them but it is definitely my last.

Staff are super nice. The only problem is that they don t figure out what s wrong with you. If you go in they give you Benadryl or pain meds or anti nausea meds and they send them to your pharmacy. Then they release you without figuring out or telling you what could possibly be the problem. The last time I went in I was so dehydrated I was close to dying. And they gave me Benadryl and sent me home.

If I could give 0 stars that's what I'd give! Sat there 20 minutes shy of 4 hours! Was never seen! The last straw was a young boy bout 16 came in with his dad for a sprained wrist and was seen immediately. 4 hours sitting there watching people get checked in and seen that arrived after me. I'll lay in pain and hope for death before I return to that place. Blood pressure when I checked in 148/101 when I left 158/114 and still rising and yet I'm not more critical then the man throwing up or the kid with a poison ivy rash or the kid with the sprained wrist yet I'm sitting there in tears because of back, hip and knee pain and high blood pressure. Had to ASK for an ice pack because one was never offered. The absolute worst hospital EVER!! Don't go there unless you are flopping around in the floor dying or you won't get seen in a timely manner!

I have worked in multiple healthcare settings in my 25 years in the industry, and Northeastern Health System aligns with my personal core values of helping others. NHS is a non profit public trust and serves the healthcare needs of a vast area of North East Oklahoma. Any proceeds help expand access to the community, and provide quality healthcare services to the most vulnerable, and at risk in our population.

Had pretty rotten experiences here and good ones too but I will say they need two radiologists on duty at a time to see if they can see anything the first might've missed on xray before leaving the hospital. I broke my tailbone and they missed it on xray and it still hurts to some degree but I'm just dealing with it because complaining to get it fixed by primary Dr or er Dr either one does no good

Took my elderly mother in at 10 am on a Sunday, they did nothing for her. Instead of asking about the problems she was in there for they kept asking about a bruise on her arm which was from a IV they ran the prior week AT THE SAME HODPITAL. Then they pretty much told me to stop talking even though she had asked me to help her explain what was going on. After that they made her feel bad for coming in because it didn't seem life threatening. After spending 6 hours there with not one answer and barely seeing anyone she asked to be unhooked from the iv and monitoring system while I had stepped out of the building to make a phone call. No one would answer her or do as she asked so she ended up unhooking herself and leaving with no answers and very upset. I can not believe how they could be so busy or understaffed that not one nurse bothered to answer a simple question or notice that an elderly woman was walking out with her arm bleeding where she unhooked her own IV!!
