The nursing care is wonderful...but we had some serious issues with housekeeping and the cleaning of my daughter's room. She was there from Monday 1 p.m. to Friday 4 p.m. During that time, housekeeping came in on Mon. Tues and Wed. to empty trash and clean the toilet. Then, while she was having a C Section on Wed. evening, WE (her parents) asked that the room be swept and mopped. The nurse was 'irritated' with the request but got someone to take care of it.
That was the last time anyone came to that room...other than to collect the 'soiled linens' container on Thurs. There was no trash emptied or toilet cleaned on Thurs. or Friday...and certainly no more sweeping/mopping during her post-op time. There was urine on the floor under the catheter bag from Wed. night until check out Friday afternoon.... Never mopped up.
The hallways around the hospital are just 'dirty'... The waiting room where we waited during the C section had not been cleaned in a LONG time from all appearances. I even said something to the OR Nurse who came to bring my son-in-law a covering to put on....He put it on there in that dirty room then went into the OR. I just had to close my eyes and tell myself that would be OK... UGH!
As employees of a huge Health Care System in Tulsa, we know the level of cleanliness and sanitation that SHOULD be present in a hospital. We have advised our daughter to consider having the next baby in Tulsa.

PLEASE NOTE: All that being said...I want to repeat that the nursing staff in the Maternity ward were WONDERFUL. My daughter received personalized treatment as they were not stretched so thin with many patients to care for. It should be noted that there is no lactation consultant working at the hospital. That is NOT a good thing for women giving birth, but I can understand that in a small hospital....
The cleanliness thing, however, is something I just can't get past. It's enough to make one want to seek care for any future hospital stays/births somewhere else.
