Worst place to live in Chattanooga. ...

Worst place to live in Chattanooga. From the very first day the management was HORRIBLE. Gave our apartment away 2 days before move in. The management team are IDIOTS and have no idea what they are doing. Unresponsive, disorganized and a huge turnover in the property managers. Nobody knew anything from the previous managers. DO NOT EVER LIVE HERE. I PROMISE YOU WILL BE SORRY. Also the property is DIRTY and SMELLS HORRIBLE

When I first moved in I loved this place, unfortunately after the first few nights I realized how awful it was going to be. I lived on the first floor and could hear everything and I mean everything going on above me. Needless to say I had not one but two loud neighbors so loud in fact I had to wear earplugs at night to just sleep. The staff or lack there of was friendly but they go through so many staff changes that they are completely unorganized. When I moved out they took half of my security deposit part of which they claimed was for a cleaning fee and the rest was unknown. If you enjoy hearing your neighbors turn on the lights and stomp around every night go for it and live here. Also the so called gym they have does not work at all. The only working piece of equipment is an elliptical. Everything is broken and had been since I moved in. By far one of the worst apartments I have every had the misfortune to live at. DO NOT LIVE HERE!

What an amazing place to call home! The new management has been friendly, easily accessible, and already making game changing upgrades. We were recently informed that each apartment would be receiving a brand new W/D set! I can't begin to express how much that alone will make my family's life easier. The grounds look amazing and the new staff are actually happy to be here. We've also received a calendar of events that seem so fun and pretty generous by the new management company. They have certainly breathed new life into Northshore Village and my family and I will be calling this place home for a long while.

I have had some issues with communication with management/maintenance. They changed management twice in the one year that I ve lived here, and I m sure the new management is struggling to play catch up. That being said, Julie resolved my issue and I am grateful for that. Perhaps things are moving in a different direction.

The pool is great and aside from peak times, usually pretty empty. Parking is easy, and plenty of guest spots. My apartment itself was clean, bug free, and very comfortable.

The reason I moved here was location. I have loved living this close to northshore.

So happy to call this peaceful place home. I had heard the property's leadership and management services has changed for the better and decided to give it a shot. Truth is, I've never been happier. The landscape is beautiful and there is even a duck pond next door. It doesn't feel like an apartment to me, it feels like home.

the managers who worked this spring deceived me, I had bad English and I used a translator on my phone, and they said that I had a contract month by month and now I want to go to another place, but I can t because they told me that i have agreement for a year and I have to pay about $ 3500 to leave this apartment, but i don't have money to pay that I don t know what to do, so I don t recommend this place to anyone

I loved living in the Northshore Village Apartments. We lived in one of the town homes, and it offered a great layout for our living space. We also had plenty of storage space, too, closets, cabinets, etc. The bedrooms are very large. The smaller of the two had the larger closet. Also, the fact that there were two bathrooms was extremely convenient for having guests over. We loved the amenities, and we used them all the time. All of our neighbors were always nice, and we could hardly tell that we had any because they were so quiet.

I stayed at Northshore Village for one year. During this year I got a dog and paid a dog fee of $300 as well as a $200 security deposit when I moved in. I moved out in August of 2018 and yesterday (February 22, 2019), I received a report that I had been turned over to collections for an outstanding balance. I have NOT ONCE received a notification that I owed Northshore Village any money for any damages. If I had been notified of damage charges, I would have absolutely paid them as quickly as possible to keep this from going to collections. Instead, five months later I have been turned over to collections without any notification, even though Northshore Village has my email AND my phone number. AND this is only a $400 charge that could have easily been taken care of. This company should have given me a simple phone call to make sure I knew of this charge before they waited five months with no notice to turn me over to collections. I will be paying my damage charge as quickly as possible and never recommending this complex to anyone else. As for Northshore Village, please have some common courtesy and give past tenants a notification via phone or email before sending them to collections.

If I could I would put a 0 out of 5 stars for this place.I would not recommend this place to anyone. First, management was not professional at all. When we lived there, we had a leak in our ceiling in our kitchen for over 2 month and we called at least once a week about it and they would tell us someone would come and never did. At one point, the manger told us to beg him to remind them to come and fix it. The leak never got fixed and was very inconvenience for the the last 2 months we were there. Second, they had told us they were going to check our fire extinguishers and turns out our apartment didn't have and they said they were going to give us one and of course never did. To make up for not having water sprinklers in the unit, they could have at least giving us a fire extinguisher. Also, we called about our bug excessive problem and maybe someone would come and spray down but the bug problem was never fixed. Third, I have never seen most unprofessional management like this before until now. After we moved out, we got a email about some charges and we had called and emailed many of times about it and got no reply which was also a problem when we lived there, they never answer the phone. We came to conclusion that they were ignoring our calls and we had to call off a stranger number and they answered after 2 months of trying to reach them. In conclusion, just do yourself a favor and not live here. I wouldn't recommend this place to my enemy.

New management company has been lax on communication and setting up new system for payment/maintenance etc. Being someone that rents two properties here I will be not renewing my lease for one and terminating the other immediately. Not worth the headache. (Also maintenance for dog poop, pool, dog bags, etc. has steadily declined).

The quality isn't there. The floors are thin, the walls are thin. I live in the town houses and you can here your neighbors walking around next door and it sounds like someone is jumping upstairs in my apartment. My AC has gone out 5-6 times in two years. It usually takes you asking 2-3 times to get it fixed. I've also had the ceiling fall in while I was showering one time. There are a good amount of roaches as well in a lot of these apartments. Overall I've had a terrible experience at North Shore village and will be more than happy when I move out of there at the end of April. I wouldn't recommend this play to anyone.

They lie, over promise, management changes every other month. I wouldn't waste your time with this place. It's bug infested and the walls are very thin. I wouldn't even call the flooring real wood. The flooring tears up by just moving a washer and dryer into place. They will charge you for the smallest things in the world. The pool is disgusting and their dog park is a joke. Maintenance is a joke as well. I lived here over a year and was the biggest money pit ever.

3.75-ish Stars.

3.75-ish Stars.

First. I waited on my deposit before I wrote this review.

Okay, so first things first. This is only reference to the town houses. I have no idea to the apartments themselves.

Pros.
- You're paying mostly for the location. The location is great.
- Maintenance is the golden charm here. They are on top of their job. I never waited longer than 24hrs for them to respond. These guys are the thing holding the whole place together. Seriously, give them a raise.
-Heather. This lady is the sweetest and always super polite. (She is leaving in a few weeks I hear.)
- For the most part quiet, and trash and water are covered.
- No hidden fees really, you know what you're getting, unless your an idiot like me and can't read. Do make sure to read your lease and ask questions if need be!

CONS.
-THIS IS MY BIGGEST ISSUE WITH THEM, AND ANY BUSINESS THAT DOES THIS!!!!
THEY GIVE INCENTIVES TO LEAVE GOOD REVIEWS (chance to win gift cards at one point). Not only is this shady business practice, its just unethical imo. I hope they discontinue this practice.

-Cheaper on the inside. The cabinets are old. They are just painted over, in fact they just flipped the cabinets doors around and re screwed them back to suck every last drop they can before they have to be replaced. Lots of painting over broken. You can tell these apartments are on the older side.

-If you get an end townhouse expect your electric bill to be $175+. Terrible inclination

-Before I signed a lease I was told by one of the office ladies that "It shouldn't be a big deal if you park your motorcycle around the back porch" (she doesn't work there anymore) Should of got that in writing. 6 months later I find out I now have to park my motorcycle in guest parking.

Overall just a few complaints here and there. I would live here again if I had to. I hope they stop the incentives for good reviews because this place is not a 5 star apartments. The office manager Amie is nice. I much rather deal with Heather, however Amie was fine. I do appreciate Northshore's staff all together, they were very professional and polite. Thanks for letting Katie and I stay for a year and I wish you all the best.

- Jay

The staff is so helpful and kind. The community is nice as well all around. People are friendly. There are lots of dogs around, so if you aren't an animal person, just be aware.

One thing I will say is that the walls are very thin. I hear people walking above me all night long. It sounds like they could come crashing through the ceiling at any moment. If you rent here, make sure you get the top floor.

I love living here. The update in the apartments are very nice. They are conveniently located nearly everything! If we ever need anything the ladies in the office and maintenance are always really nice and helpful.

I truly enjoyed living here. I just moved down from Alaska and found these cute apartments. Waking up to a beautiful landscape reminded me of my Alaska home. I had the best apartment, 20 ft to the pool (which I was always in), gym level with the pool and plenty of areas for Mia to run and play. The ladies in the office (Ashley and Paige) were always very nice, helpful and gave Mia treats every time we walked down to talk or play corn hole. Lots of memories in this apartment for the short time I was in Chattanooga.

Our experience during and after living here. Befor...

Our experience during and after living here. Before new management took over we have the pleasure of meeting and bring taken care of by a wonderful woman named Jasmin who was fired for unknown reasons. She not only worked with us but had us moved in within three days of signing our lease. The trouble began after new management came in; it had been brought to our attention that they had a washer and dryer to rent for an additional $40 which we were happy with because we had been searching for one. That didn't last very long because the dryer had stopped working due to the it not being compatible to the voltage needed for that type of module washer and dryer which fried the motor. The wonderful older man who was sent to help fix it was the one who informed me of it, he was such a help to us and moreso than management. It had been almost two to three months of us having a broken dryer and when my fiance went to the office to get and update as to what/why no one had come around to fix it a lady at the office called maintenance and through the line my fiance heard a man on the other line say "They forgot."

The lady had decided that the best approach was to lie in my fiances' face when he himself heard that they had forgotten about us altogether. When the older man returned to fix the dryer he told me, "I don't know why they haven't replaced it. It's costing them more to fix plus you haven't been able to use your dryer." It was one big mess that was resolved not in an orderly fashion but was solved. When maintenance came in a few months later to check on the AC filters we informed them that the chain for the light in our closet had snapped and we were unable to use it. They said they'd be right back with a replacement chain but never returned. We had a light in our closet that we couldn't use for the remainder of our stay.

Our tipping point was when they had sent out a notice that they would be raising the rent. My fiance had lived there around 2013 and the prices ranged around $850 for a two bedroom apartment but they wanted almost $1200 for a one bedroom. They had hardly remodeled or changed much and yet they wanted to raise the rent. We decided to move into an apartment that was $300 cheaper and much bigger than their one bedrooms plus is only a mile away and still 30 minutes away from downtown. When we moved out we made sure to leave everything clean and undamaged even if we knew we weren't getting our security deposit back. My fiance informed them, called them and left the keys with a male worker at the office.

On May 22, 2020, me and my fiance went out it Walmart to get some food and saw the old management behind us who were whispering about us literally behind our backs. Unluckily enough for us they were parked in front of us in an SUV and the blonde woman behind the wheel glared at me and said things I'm certain were anything from friendly.

The moral of the story is that management is awful and is only friendly if you have money to swim in. Even with proper communication they hardly get back to you and apparently spend their time talking rudely about old tenants while they're trying to peacefully grab some food.

Don't waste your money.
Trust me, there are bigger and cheaper apartments within five miles who have friendlier and more helpful management.

I wish I could leave zero stars.

We moved to Northshore Village after being displaced by the Chattanooga tornados.
Our experience here has been less than ideal. We put in a maintenance request to fix our air conditioner 8 weeks ago and they have done nothing but say we are low priority. Meanwhile, they have taken the time to renovate all of the empty apartments around us in the complex.

Perhaps if they spent more time actually helping the people who do live here, they wouldn t have such a hard time getting people to stay.
I would not recommend these apartments to anyone. This is the kind of service I expect from an apartment half this price.

Update:
The leasing office claimed that they did not have a maintenance request from me which isn t true, but they did come fix it the next day. Our apartment is much better now!

We ve been here a few months and really like it so far! They allows dogs, which is great, with no weight restrictions or pet rent. We live in a townhome and like the layout - especially with having 2 bathrooms. The kitchen counter space is lacking but nothing too concerning. The floors do rip / scratch easy if they are nicked. You can hear squeaky floorboards from neighbors but it s not bothersome since it s only upstairs. Neighbors are friendly, office is helpful, maintenance is super fast and easy to work with. The office staff seems to always be changing which is a little strange, I never know who will be here when I walk in. Good location, close to downtown and Hixson.

I enjoy living here overall. Yes, the walls and floors are thin, but it's not TOO bad. Get an apartment on the top floor if you're super worried about it.
The office is pretty nice and any time I've had maintenance issues the staff is pretty on top of it depending on how serious the problem is. There are lots of dogs here. The location is great and fairly quiet. There is sometimes loud music from cars in the parking lots and people talking but it's nothing that lasts super long. There is plenty of parking, I can always part right in front of my apartment which is awesome. I live in a one bedroom and would say it's reasonably priced with what you're getting (stainless steel appliances, dark hardwood floors, etc.) I would recommend this complex to any students wanting to move off campus but still be close to downtown.

These 5 stars go to the maintenance men at Northshore Village. Our air conditioning unit had a hiccup about 3 to 4 months ago and maintenance quickly reacted to fix the issues. Unfortunately it was an older unit and it finally gave out about two weeks ago. Again, the maintenance men quickly reacted. This time they completely replaced the unit with a brand new and more powerful model. Although knowledgable, they made the decision to hire specialists to make sure everything was installed correctly and kept us updated every step of the way. Based on our interactions in getting issues fixed we have made the decision to sign for another year.

Although older apartments, the current owners have taken many measures to update everything. Our two bedroom unit has all updated appliances, and even though the floors are linoleum made to look like hardwood floors they look great (I'll take linoleum over nasty carpets any day)! Rent is a little pricey, but I feel that I am paying for a quieter apartment complex (as well as great location). We have a very diverse neighborhood in our little cove - newly weds, families, college students, and single people. We all are respectful towards one another. Basically, I don't feel like I am living in a frat house like other apartment complexes.

Other notes:
I don't have many front office interactions so I can't speak to the bad experiences others have had.
Yes, the workout facilities are a joke. Get a membership somewhere if you are really that into fitness.
Pool is just fine but always crowed on weekends.

There are mice residing in the 1500 building and little progress on fixing this problem. My roommate and I have lives here for over a year and a half, we clean our apartment weekly and deep clean it monthly, we feel our situation is an unfit living environment because mice can carry diseases and it is now effecting our sleeping areas.

I TRULY wish i didn t even have to give this place one star. It is a TRASH, absolute disgrace for an apartment. I got stuck living here for a year, and i hated it. I had so many problems from day one. Ashley and the staff are so rude and unprofessional. So thankful I m out of this nasty place

WORST apartment complex ever. It is extremely old and just covered up with new-ish appliances and flooring. My apartment caught on fire in November because the electrical box was out of code... someone let me know how that happens!!!! The communication with the front office is less than par..mostly because they never answer the phone. Parking is terrible. I lived in the far units by the elementary school and there was never any parking so I was forced to park on the street then I was threatened to be towed by the school! like what the heck! just a gross place all together. would not recommend to my worst enemy :)

Went from 5 stars to 1 REAL FAST, after 3 years of living here, we can't get out soon enough! Ever since a little guy named Rob has been property manager this place has went to crap. Not only is HE incompetent, He's condescending, rude, & just a plain jerk.
Before he arrived, things were done correctly around here.
You're paying $900 a month for a 2 BR, yet the dog posts where they used to keep bags for feces etc & empty it often are now empty for weeks & overflowing with dog feces. The maintenance drive back n forth on their golf carts laughing , talking on cell phones & racing down the hill (i have video of all this) & passes the dog posts at least 50 times a day, with a dumpster within rock throwing distance yet they don't even stop to empty it.

The floor in my apartment upstairs is about to fall through, along with a ton of other problems. Despite this place was just renovated before i moved in.
Maintenance now does nothing on time or correctly. Instead they sit for hours in the shade up by the pool/gym building smoking cigarettes.

I'm amazed at the way this place has went downhill since i first arrived! The first property manager was amazing, since then they have went through about 4 different ppl, each one a little worse than the last, until now which they have this Rob character who is terrible.

My advice is to keep looking if you're interested in a good place to live. This place is not worth the money they charge, & until new office staff is put into place, the good community we have will continue to leave as myself & several neighbors are doing.

Good luck

I have lived at this complex for over a year and have loved my time here. The new office staff has been extremely friendly and helpful. They have quickly attended to any issues from previous management and have always called to check in. The maintenance team is wonderful and responds in a very timely manner. I always see both of them working very hard but that never stops them from waving or saying hello when they see people out and about. Overall, if you are looking for a great place to move to where the people really care then come live here.

Living at Northshore has been nothing, but amazing from the awesome units to the friendly staff. I have lived her for over a year now and the staff has an open door policy to help with any issues or hearing concerns. This is one of the only apartment complexes, that I have seen trying to aide residents during COVID. Overall, i recommend this place to anyone looking for a good location and fair price.

Dog poop every where. There was human poop at the pool. The pool is rowdy and not family friendly. Apartments and townhouses are old with paper thin walls. Over all I would not recommend living here. Breaking my lease as fast as I can, the $1,000 to break lease is so worth it!!!

It took me 7 months to get one problem fixed and would constantly go out at least once a week. The management is awful and good luck getting them on the phone. I would never recommend this place to anybody and I wish I could have 8 months of my life back from this horrible experience.

This is a great place to live. I like the staff a lot, they have been helpful and on top of getting things taken care of that was really needed around here. The best thing so far is that they allow all pet breeds so I didn't have to re-home my pitbull. We are fans of the pet park and the changes the new management company is making to the other amenities, I am really glad I decided to give this place a chance.

The old staff left a bad taste in my mouth with How they handled everything, but the new staff team did a fantastic job on handling anything I needed to get done and were some of the nicest people I ve met in Real estate. Wonderfull place to stay! Definitely recommend!

Northshore Village has an excellent location. I have lived here for 8 months. I recommend the apartments. You are 10 minutes from the middle of downtown, 10 minutes from Northgate, and 10 minutes from Walmart. Not bad at all! I also enjoy walking to Red Bank Park from the apartments! We've had friendly neighbors and the office staff has been great help for the few problems we've had. For example, our dishwasher stopped working one day, and it was fixed early morning the next. Great maintenance staff!

Misleading, dishonest, and fake.

Misleading, dishonest, and fake.
They talk you into moving in with "first month free," then they fine print that your "year lease" actually doesn't start until a month later, so in reality you are still paying for 12 months. You'll think your about to finally be able to move out, a year later, and they're like "surprise you owe us rent for a thirteenth month. The first month free thing is a complete scam.

Also, dozens of apartments flooded in January due to cold weather and shitty construction. They had maintenance people coming in and out of your apartment. Even at 3 in the morning! We called the cops because we thought someone was breaking in.

Walls are horribly thin. I can hear the neighbor's every movement. Don't sign a 13 month lease with this place. Seriously.

Short and Sweet: Old apartment complex with horribly squeaky floors and poor insulation. Staff is friendly but unorganized which led to some headaches. Bottom line it is a place to live but it's overpriced.

Extended Version: After reading some reviews I've decided to write one of my own mostly because many of the 1 star reviews are very dramatic. The bottom line is that yes, this apt. complex is old. Because of their age the floors squeak horribly, the pipes freeze every winter due to lack of insulation between the kitchen walls and the exterior of the apartment, and the walls are very thin. I lived in a 2 bed and there was a lack of cabinet space and it only gets worse in a 3 bed but the bedrooms were pretty decent size and I felt comfortable. They've got your amenities like pool, workout facility, dog park and such but the workout facility is pretty sad. The floors are a very cheap linoleum which is a rubber type of floor and it rips and dents very easily. During my one year stay I saw them replace the floors in 3 units and the laundry facility on just my street. Washer and dryer area available in the units but they're pretty sad as well. Very hard to fit them both in. I had some troubles with the office due to their lack of organization (they misplaced my rent check and tried to charge me the late fee), thankfully I keep my receipts so I was in the clear. Word to the wise do this if you live here. The staff was friendly and polite but I think their is a lack of training. Maintenance guys are good though. Not a horrible place to live but it is overpriced.
