Nice bar with a nice atmosphere, but overpriced and the food quality was poor. $17 for two schooners of draft beer is over the top. At $62 for a fish and chips, a steak sandwich and a bowl of chicken wings we were expecting some tasty pub food. I had the steak sandwich - the turkish bread was the kind you get pre-packaged from Woollies and it was not toasted properly so it was an effort to chew through. The steak itself was decent enough, but the rest of the sandwich filling was average fare and topped with a basic store brand BBQ sauce. Chips were under seasoned and did not come with any kind of dipping sauce but otherwise OK. My partner said the tempura battered barramundi was decent, but again the chips were under seasoned and the side salad was a bit juvenile: huge wedges of tomato that had to be cut up to be eaten, way too much onion and the dressing was not enjoyable and not correctly paired to the meal. Won't be going back.

I had a few meals here while on a business trip to Brisbane. Friendly and efficient service with helpful staff. Loved the rump steak and the Ceasar salad. I was told the hotel had recently been renovated and it certainly is in good condition. I'll be happy to eat there again

Danielle is the most charismatic waitress ever! Made our experience extremely pleasant. Will return just for Danielle. I think we should start a Danielle fan club. She also rides the bull better than the men and if that's not the best thing ever then I dont know what is. Thanks Danielle

On this occasion, Not only was the steak cold and undercooked, the jus burnt and the chips cold, the staff were ill-equipped to deal with these simple issues, the venue is in a state of disrepair (torn seating, lights blown/missing) and the lighting was poor (we relied on street lighting to see our menu/meals)

Great old world building with lots of modern additions, including a great beer garden on the downstairs level. Has a kitchen that serves up cheap food and a separate restaurant for more serious food. Has a pokie room and various bars. Usually fairly quiet during the week but goes off on Sunday nights, very busy, noisy with a predominately young crowd.

Went there for lunch this week.

Went there for lunch this week.
Very slow service, waited over 35 minutes, and the place was almost empty (I understand why now!!)
Door was pretty average when it eventually arrived.

We ordered 3 steaks this afternoon 2 medium rumps which were excellent and perfectly cooked .... and 1 medium eye fillet which had a very strange taste of charcoal or a burnt taste which according to the wait staff was the gravy....?
I can tell you it s not the gravy it s the actual cut of meat wasn t right I ve had plenty of eye fillet elsewhere around brisbane with no issues.
No offer to replace it or refund it horrible service with an uneducated off the cuff comment about the gravy and apparently the chef tried it and said it s fine
We will never be back...!
So disappointing

Visited for Sunday lunch to check out the venue since reopening. I was VERY impressed with the food. The parmy and the steak sandwich were Yummo! We also had wings which were nice but the coating was just little too doughy for our liking but not bad enough to rate down given the rest of the meal was so good, just something to consider as feedback. Service was lovely and welcoming. The venue itself looks nice post reno but no real drastic changes just a few cosmetic touch ups from what I could see. Will definitely be back to eat and interested to see what management have in mind for this pub moving forward.

Yeah so I went here once for a birthday party. One of my sister s friends. I didn t know her well. She has a scar that runs from her throat to her belly button (I am told; I haven t seen) because when she was a baby she had heart surgery. All good now, and my further understanding is that she has now a child of her own.
Anyway we had a pretty good time and nobody was glassed. That I have to even say that is bonkers but it is the Normanby. Also my phone corrects Normanby to Normandy, which makes me think about wars and how futile it all can be.
I go past this place every day on the bus and I must say I like the look of it. It is stately. A Brisbane icon. You know, a true blue place.

Although part of the Brisbane CBD, this very busy hotel with multi levels to please everyone of different ages/styles/tastes plus a large outside area, although on the main Kelvin Grove Road, patrons would easily forget where they are. Outdoor area also has a live band & dance area, & if not the your taste, simply wander up to another level. Meals & drinks are reasonably priced. Our entire work group were happy with this venue.

Worst bar in Brisbane. Got kicked out after having 2 drinks and I was completely sober sitting at a table minding my own bussiness. The place is empty, after talking with security the place is dead every weekend and I can clearly see why. terrible service from the bar lady. She seemed grumpy and was consistently on her phone rather than serving customers. Will not ever come back to this place after being poorly treated.

My daughter has her 21st birthday party for about 100 people in a private function room at the Normanby Hotel in Brisbane last night. The food was really ordinary and overpriced, the service was terrible and the only time the staff spoke to me during the night was to ask for more money for the bar tab including in the middle of the speeches on the night. The DJ wouldn't turn the music down when asked to , the security guy was rude and the bar staff did their best to ignore you. If you want an ordinary venue, with really limited parking and poor service choose the Normanby Hotel for your next function or alternatively just book a decent restaurant somewhere downtown and have a good night.

Over priced beer served in hot glasses out of the dishwasher. Can't comment on the quality of the food as our order was not sent to the kitchen so we didn't get it. A lot of better organised pubs close by.

Turn the TV's off.

Turn the TV's off.
Took three requests of staff to get a coffee I had paid for. Twenty minutes! Not that busy but, distracted.
Food I received was good.
Not a lot of variety on mains. No cream in the pub for cocktails??!
