The inn was nice and old style. The rooms were very clean and comfortable.
We have only been here for Sunday brunch, but it is fantastic. A little pricy, but great lunch, salad, and classic breakfast choices on a big buffet. Best brunch in State College.
Very nice! Bit hard to navigate but plenty of signs
Great place to stay
Very friendly
Room was clean. Service was friendly. The dining hall had great food. Good for a short stay during a college visit.
The Nittany Lion Inn has a wonderful restaurant that always impresses. The food selection is excellent and both the preparation and presentation of items is unmatched in this region. Although prices reflect this attention to detail, for a nice breakfast or dinner, the NLI is completely worth it.
I was there for a career fair. It was pleasant and exciting.
The restaurant has a nice quiet atmosphere and great desserts. Pasta was fresh however it was a bit dry
Staff is very courteous. Floor plan is a little odd but hallways are labeled well. Rooms have a decent amount of space and well-kept, but they are due for a renovation. Specifically, the carpets look and feel old.
The food and service was great. I've been there a few times and have never been disappointed.
The Nittany Lion In was very enjoyable. There are comfortable rooms and great service.
Very elegant looking, yet in another way aside from the red collegiate brick look across campus.
Location, it is on Penn State campus. Great staff & customer service.
Location is great, rooms are always clean, room service was quick and the food was really good. The brunch selection is good too. We enjoy staying at this place.
Very nice. Room was quite spacious. The TV was little too far away from the bed, but it wasn't too bad. Employees were all friendly. Food wasn't too bad either.
Awesome place to stay. Excellent and very clean rooms. Awesome staff. Has a casual lounge and an upscale restaurant. Right in the middle of Penn State University.
Great service, friendly faces, no complaints whatsoever
There were ants in the buffet food and even after being told about it no one did anything about it. Do not eat here. Over priced and crappy being marketed as traditional. No, it's just old and dumpy.
Very nice atmosphere with friendly staff. The food served was good as well. Overall a pleasant experience.
Awesome, beautiful historic hotel and it's on campus. The restaurant is very good (not cheap) and the bar is a fun place. Everything on campus and downtown is within walking distance of the NLI. The only small downside is parking; you can expect to park (free) in the nearby parking garage. There is ample handicapped parking closer to the NLI with placard.
I was at the Nittany Lion in for a professional event, so I can't comment on the rooms or hotel service. However, the conference rooms were clean and well organized, appetizers were very good and all employees I dealt with were friendly and professional.
Toilet was clogged immediately upon getting my room, it took staff nearly 48hrs to get to my room to fix it. 0 stars
A State College institution. The food is excellent.
Place looks very fancy and professional. The layout can be a bit confusing, however.
I went to a wedding party. The hall was very clean, organized and well prepared on time. The food was not great unfortunately.
Fire place was great. Staff is excellent. Could use some updates to the room.
Beautiful atmosphere and great history but it basically ends there. Rooms are fairly standard and the bathrooms are bare minimums. The showers are small, dark, and it took 10 minutes for the water to get warm (I thought the hot water didn't work and took a cold shower only to find the water warming up as I was finishing up). This is a good location if you have business on the north west part of campus but pretty remote for anything else. The event spaces are pretty good but some are hidden through a series of mazes.
I wish I could rank this better because the staff is pleasant and it really is a beautiful place. Some updates would make this place wonderful.
Just booked a room at the Hampton Inn because this place wanted to charge extra for non-smoking. Step into the 1990s...go all non-smoking.
Nice spacious room. Friendly staff. Lovely Penn State campus.
Just amazing! The rooms were lovely and the customer service was exceptional. I enjoyed a wonderful dinner and two banquet evenings with tasty h'orderves. The hotel was very clean and centrally located to most everything by foot. This is a must see and if your budget affords it, must stay, when in State College, PA.
Well maintained rooms and a nice restaurant. Great place to stay every time I visit State College!
Maybe instead of eight people working the door, direct some resources to improve computer systems/logistics. Credit card and room key systems were down during check-in. Over-charged during check-out. Room key did not work to exit parking garage. Otherwise, fine establishment.
The reason I give this place four stars is it once was a four diamond rated hotel. Covid-19 times turned it into a student residence hall. I worked at the Inn for four years (2013-2017). Learned a lot about the old expression..."team work makes the dream work"...witty culinary pun scraps about VHS raps...this hotel is 'questionable' haunted...the history to this place inspired me to be a aspiring writer. Many rich and famous people have stayed and eaten meals at the Inn. The most memorable guest this chef de parite got to cook a meal for was James Paul McCartney (2015). Witty English breakfast puns by a Beatle actually happened at this hotel and the morning shift got a real kick out of it. English speaking people from England speak well.
Traditional decorations, really nice food, awesome service and extremely kind workers
Was at the inn for breakfast, as part of a work event. Always pleasant staff and excellent food. I always volunteer for these events!
You get more than value at the Nittany Lion Inn. This colonial style Inn is beautifully positioned on Penn State campus and once you step in the electrifying atmosphere will pleasantly surprise you! Although the hotel was very clean and it has all the amenities one might desire, the best part about it was in the caring, friendliness, and helpfulness of the staff and guests! Perhaps it was exciting and vibrant because I am a World Campus student, but that does not explain why the people were so genuinely nice and accommodating. If you are looking for a memorable experience rather than a hotel stay, this is your Inn.
My boyfriend is a PSU alum, so he couldn't wait to stay here, and I'm sorry to say we were nothing but disappointed from the minute we pulled up.
The valet was so incredibly disorganized, they were legit just standing there, taking no action to actually valet the cars. To get your car to go to dinner or check out, there was no call ahead option; just go downstairs and have to wait 15-20 minutes. So incredibly inconvenient! Then, the guy didn't even hold the door open!
For the room: the heater made loud, whistling noises all night long which wasn't very conducive for a good night's sleep.
A fire alarm went off early in the morning, and there was no mention of any apology from anyone in the staff.
I will NOT be staying here again.
Beautiful hotel with clean rooms with courteous staff.
The service and food was great. Not too friendly, but everything I needed to was available.
The Inn was a great experience as usual. The rooms are comfortable and breakfast at the Dining Room was excellent.
Downtown state college. Fancy huge ballroom. Nice food. Good service
Awesome staff, really nice room, but the walls were fairly thin, I could hear my neighbor's complete conversation.
I paid for a medium prepared steak and fine dining experience and received a very well done steak and diner experience. When the waitress came to our table to ask how everything was, I told her not so good. She agreed that the steak was very well done and so offered to tell the kitchen. When she returned she said we could order a dessert on the house. We had a show to go to at the State Theatre and had to go with the flow. Never mind that a steak is five times more expensive than a dessert. The dessert was delicious. Most disappointing was that the maitre d' never came to our table to apologize. There were only a handful of customers in the restaurant.
Very nice rooms, location, service, and low cost as well
Cozy place, I've always enjoyed going there. Hosting events there is generally a great idea.
Although pricey, this hotel was clean and right on campus. There was no continental breakfast which was disappointing. The room size was nice.
The only complaint I have is the parking situation for PSU Students. The rooms and services they provided while I was attending the career fair were top notch. Great experience
Was at the hotel for a lunch meeting. Food was great the service was excellent. Very clean staff was friendly. My next visit I will be staying here.
Beautiful interior courtyard in the restaurant/bar Whiskers. It was quiet and chill outdoor seating where you could easily linger for a few hours
I really like this hotel, this is an old-fashioned hotel, but it is very clean, the staff took care of it very well. The hotel is very close to the 0 area, and the Soho area is also nearby, so you can do a lot of things on foot. Great stay experience. There is no mini-drink room in my room, but there is a room in my friend, I don't know why, but OK, I think if you don't have a room, you can ask them.
The staff were very professional and the facilities were immaculately cleaned. The food for the event I attended was very disappointing, cold bacon and eggs, absolutely no coffee creamer (unless you count milk.)
I had dinner with my family at Whiskers. The food was great and so was the service! I would suggest the Nittany Lion Inn to anyone visiting state college.
I love the Nittany Lion Inn, great food and very historic!
I stayed at the Nittany lion inn while on an on-site internship recruiting effort. The service was exceptional, the rooms were comfortable rooms, great on site dining was very good. The location being right on site was a big benefit. I will be staying there again and would recommend to anyone visiting PSU Main.
