I got a $50 ticket for accidentally blocking a quarter of a neighbor's driveway while attending a party. When I explained, to the cop, that I didn't even notice the 4' wide driveway, she told me neither did she. My biggest issue is that they could've just asked me to move instead of giving me a ticket. What a joke.
Niles coppers are very sweet and gentle, D handcuffed me very softly, vehicles are amazingly roomy , I even had a German Shepherd as a company when I was sitting in the back, over all very professional , will definitely get arrested by them again, 4 stars because The wait was little longer than expected. DISCLAIMER: I have nothing but respect for police in general. They get so much flak from the general populace, but those brave ladies and gentlemen serving in police departments all over this nation work hard and risk their own lives and well-being for our safety. That said, the Niles PD is somewhat of an exception. I can't believe that these incompetent buffoons have the nerve to call themselves cops.
Once, while a friend was driving my car home, we were pulled over with a flat tire and my car needed to be impounded for the night. When I returned to take my car out, the retards at the impound lot lost my key. Fortunately, I had extra keys for that car, but it's the principle. Granted, tow truck drivers are subhuman retards who are too stupid and incompetent to do anything else (and so can't get a REAL job), not to mention, tow truck drivers must lack any semblance of ethics or empathy. So perhaps I should not have been surprised. Still, this particular towing service WORKS FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT. Their impound lot is right next door to the police station. Surely, the police should take charge to avoid mix-ups from their towing & impound guys.
If your car requires towing or impounding by the Niles PD or their affiliated towing company, if possible call any other towing service you can. Otherwise, you may be better off torching your car than letting the monkeys who work for the Niles PD get their grubby hands on it. In the case of the Niles police, their officers fully deserve the epithet "pig(s)."
one of the larger lady cops is completely power hungry and misuses force... alas, you can't expect better from someone who lives in such a small village and probably has never experienced any real respect in her whole life. Personally, I would hate being a police officer- walking around in dumb outfits and trying to convince myself I have a real impact on the world
Four stars for response to a suspicious person, lack of fifth star for 'dispatch 206' saying verbatim: 'can you stop talking to me in that code'. That's called a 'phonetic alphabet' officer. Annoying to see customs, courtesy, and even phonetics are all no longer taught or followed by residential police.
Niles pd are a bunch of overpaid clowns all they do is sit in the same speed trap spots all day and harass niles residence it's a shame I've only met one nice helpful cop in Niles in the 20+ years living here it's a shame

Very prof generous with their time when it comes to older people handsome young men find them honest. Mac the big chief the Irish one I give him 5 stars his excellence experience is above and beyond he's a good man justice prevails with him he is in control of his dept I've never heard anything bad or negative about relations between officers unlike other local police dept that you read about in the des plaines journal the very bad conduct of their officers. So why are people complaining about niles police. I find them brilliant. My service dog was kicked out of jewel on dempster they called the police on me niles cops came and settled the matter I showed them my registered card from the attorney general office they mailed me my rights regarding my service dog and they told the store I had every right to be in the store with my dog. My friend who lives in niles like myself his child was shot and the niles police was right on it they promised my friend we will get this bad guy and they did. They really did. I find them less of cowards than the other local police dept. I firmly believe what happens to me in des plaines a bad crime would never go without justice when it comes to the chief in niles. The niles police brought peace and grace for our family. I have never heard of any scandals regarding niles police.
For Niles police they are amazing. I had car trouble and Niles police officers helped with roadside assistants for me, and didn't leave my side until the tow truck came for that I'm truly grateful for patiences and understanding.

I just moved in to niles from Morton grove. While I was driving in my new neighborhood police officer pulled me over claiming I was doing 40 in a 25 mph speed zone on Cumberland ave. I know I was going little over 25, but not even close to 40. I was very polite to the officer and asked him for forgiveness, but didn t wanna hear it. These guys have nothing else better to do beside harassing local residents. I am very disappointed Since all they care about collecting money .
They have nothing better to do at night than tailgate people at night in a residential neighborhood. Out of state license plates must be a hot prize for them. Thought it was just some jerk, drove around, parked up outside my families house and just about walked inside when I saw him pull up shining his lights in my car. Walked back to ask what he was doing and he drove away without saying anything. No speeding, not doing anything suspicious. If this is how they treat non-residents, I can only imagine how they treat their residents.
Have had great experiences with niles Police . Recently i had a sub par expirence with an officer however i met with the supervisor shortly after (he even made time to speak with me within 5 minutes after midnight!) the supervisor more than rectified the situation.... i wish all police departments were run this well....thank you Niles
If you're driving through to niles, take a detour. The police pull people over for anything. They need revenue, so they tex their citizens or outter towners. Drivers beware.

I saw a Niles police dept car run a red light this afternoon with no lights or siren then proceeded to run another red nearly hitting a pedestrian.
I have lived in Niles for 20 years and have never had an issue with the police. However, recently I received a parking ticket for parking less than 20 feet from the crosswalk. I went in to pay my parking ticket and asked questions like "how do I know that I am parked more than 20 feet" so that I do not get this ticket again. I got rude responses. They do not even know what the laws are, because the officer said there has to be a stop sign. When I told her there is no stop sign at this intersection, she said yeah whatever. I also work at the Village of Niles and my facility got a call from the police station asking which of their employees came in, they did not know. So a month passes and I receive a delinquency notice doubling the cost of the ticket. I go back to clear things out and they give me numbers to call because they do not have my information on file. I did exactly what I was supposed to do and they make ME fix their mistakes? I asked them why they called my work and this man starts to yell at me saying it was my attitude. Let me remind you that he is screaming at me, the person who pays his salary, telling me I have a bad attitude. Now I see what they spend their time at work doing, calling up employers to see who "they are dealing with." So here I am, doing their jobs because they can't put the information right the first time. To be honest, I think he purposely did not put the information in to bother me. What a fool, go do your job don't prey on college kids.
Nobody enjoys being involved in a car accident, let alone a hit and run. I want to thank Officer John, badge #126 for the aid and comfort he provided my sister who suffered severe anxiety, trauma, and a concussion as a result. Officer John was an exceptional respondent who demonstrated professionalism and empathy to the situation. People today take our officers for granted, but officers like officer John deserve all the recognition they can get. Their jobs are not easy, and we are thankful for you. Thank you for your outstanding service.

Be very careful. Don't get too comfortable with this district. One of the most corrupt stations i have ever seen. They have inside jobs with local residents and will use your information to track you. They only care about stealing $$$ from you which is ILLEGAL revenue. they are known for extortion and the Village of Niles staff needs reconstituting
