A great Wisconsin brewery company started by Deb and Dan Carey in 1993 with some auctioned brewery equipent and leased land has grown in a multimillion dollar enterprise. From their signature Spotted Cow to their R&D beer only sold on site, this is an amzing, growing brewery! I truly love the concept behind their beer. They support local everything and really give back to the community they call home, even giving beer tokens to go into New Glarus to sample their beer. This is an amazing brewery, still growing and worth a visit! Tours fill up fast but they do have self-guided tours and both are fun, especially with a New Glarus beer in hand!

March trip. Self guided tour had no information of what you were looking at in each location. Getting to see bottling was pretty neat though. Only four flavors to sample, and they were the same four you can get year round from anywhere in the state. Not impressed with cost vs. sampling. On cold day, like my trip, there is no warm place to sit and sip.

This place is a must visit in Southern Wisconsin! Amazing brewery with absolutely beautiful views, and you can tour the very place where the produce the beer. Wonderful selection, and highly recommended getting the wristband that allows you to try several different beers. This place is a bit crowded because its so popular so be sure to arrive early in the morning if you can, its five o clock somewhere

Absolutely love the spotted cow beer they make and had to visit the brewery. Finally did and wow! Not only is this place huge and amazing but it's absolutely beautiful too! Highly recommend this to any beer and brewer lover as well as just the casual beer drinker.

Beautiful spot just outside of town, easy to find. The outdoor area/biergarten is very picturesque. Enjoyed the self-guided tour but would have loved to see more! Gift shop had a nice variety, and of course, the beer was the best! Was able to buy my favorite, Belgian Red, in bottles, too!

This really is a hidden gem in the rolling hills of southwestern Wisconsin! If you can visit The New Glarus Brewery, I would highly recommend it. We did not do their tour but were able to walk through on our own. The staff were informative and very friendly. They have a great property and beer garden in which to enjoy your samples. SUCH a beautiful property overlooking rolling hills an lovely scenery! We enjoyed looking through their gift shop and also the store where we were able to make some fun purchases. I'm so glad we made this destination stop on our recent road trip. I promise to go back!

The only way you could get a beer was to buy a pint glass first. It is $8 for a pint glass and a ticket for a beer. Then you go to a different station for the beer itself. After that, it is $5.50 for refills. There is no way to get a beer without first buying the pint glass, which I really don't need/want. It's a pretty area, so I'd love to buy a beer and sit/hang out. I think they'd be more successful it if was German bier hall style. Or if they just gave your $3 back for returning the pint class you don't want to keep.

It's the Disneyland of beer. If you're in the area you have to stop by for at least one beer and walk through the tour and grounds. Every time I'm here they've added more stuff. Pretty ridiculous (in a good way).

A self guidef tour with a pristine new location and stainless brewing. A micro brewery that limits its career beers for sale to the state of Wisvonsin. Recommended for meeting friends and tours for a pre meal drink. Wish they had cheese and cravker trays avail to purchase with beer

I can imagine how this place established a destination reputation in the era before the local brewing explosion. But like other meso-scale breweries that were set up in the past, New Glarus has been overtaken by the abundance of superior beer available just about anywhere. If you like "corporate quaint," and rather average understated beer, this may be the place for you.

Everytime I've came here I've had the same experience. The outside area is beautiful! The owner was so nice. She greeted everyone who walked up to buy bottles... The bad thing is me & everyone I was with got no reception at all.

Nice looking place but do not care for the beer. Staff was rude and acted like they were too busy to care. Not many visitors at the time. My sample beer was slammed so hard on the counter it splashed out at me. No apology.

Overall, a pretty nice brewery with a great view, especially in the late summer and early fall. That being said, be sure to bring your money with you. It's not a cheap trip there. You'd think with making the trip all the way to New Glarus (middle of nowhere, Wisconsin) that they could provide you with a discount on beers in the tasting room. Nope. Instead it costs $8 for a beer, with the nice thing being you get to keep the glass. And refills are $5.50. If you just like their beer, save yourself a trip and just go buy your favorite beers in Wisconsin.

Brewery location high on the Wisconsin hill combined with unique Swiss modern architecture is a must see. Self guided tour gives you brewery access to everything with a beer in hand. The outside beer gardens is a must see unique experience.

The architecture and the setting is breathtaking. Once inside is when things go bad. The staff is a bunch of young 20 somethings that are very condescending and borderline rude. Being from Milwaukee I have been on numerous brewery tours. I had been looking forward to this for a while. When I walked up to the bar to look at the beers I was shouted at by a young lady who told me I needed to go pay for tickets before being served. I was aware of this and wanted to see the beers first. Once I got up to the register the girl there was very short and didn t say anything more than insert your card. When I inquired as to where the tour started another very rude young lady pointed and said back there in a very short and rude manner. I was highly disappointed. I would much recommend the tour at lakefront brewery or even the miller brewery tour over this one. Staff is friendly and helpful and enthusiastic at those. This pretty much ruined new Glarus beer for me. Then I went on the tour which is self guided . No guide explaining the intricacies of the brewing process. Just a few signs that give a brief overview of the brewing process and every door labeled brewers only on them. Save your time and money and go an hour and a half East to Milwaukee. The only reason I gave two stars was because I got a glass to take home and I enjoyed the Oktoberfest beer.

A must see stop if you are in the area. The beers are awesome, the gift store has plenty of offerings and the outside patio areas very unique in architecture and layout. The had a parking area where we could park our Class C RV and walk up some beautiful stone steps

For such decent beers, I was REALLY disappointed in this brewery.

1) They had no restaurant/did not sell or serve food at all

2) The outdoor patio area was nice, but had absolutely no shade

3) They do not sell growlers

4) When I asked the server what the ABV of their beers were, she said that state law prohibits them from telling us the ABV because if we go home and test it, the ABV might not be the same. Oh PLEASE!!! If that was the case, no Wisconsin bar or festival could print the ABV of a beer.

5) There was no formal tour process. Hey! Want to tour the brewery and not hear anything about it? Then stroll on down without hearing anything about this facility.

New Glarus, your beers are pretty good, but after visiting this travesty of a brewery, I'll be drinking something else.

Had a blast here. Self-guided tour was fun, the brewery is huge a lot of walking. You can drink your free taster while you're walking the tour or you can enjoy it outside on their patio surrounded by parts of the old distillery and looking off the hill into the town or over the town of New Glarus. Favorite beer to taste with spotted cow ,tried all six of their bruise that are on tap. Can't wait to go back next year.

Such an amazing vista! The Bavarian style is on full display and the beer is delicious as always. The grounds are great to walk around and the self guided brewery tour is friendly and informative.

Nothing here makes any sense. First, if you re a designated driver - be ready to be thirsty, hungry, and bored. Besides water, some random string cheese or other gas station snacks, and twiddling your thumbs, there is nothing here for you. For beer lovers, be ready to be completely underwhelmed. The beer is the same as what you find at the store but you ll pay more to have a drink here. Where will you sit? Outside. Really. There is no beer hall or inside facility. Hope it doesn t rain or, maybe even worse, hope it isn t super hot outside. Why? There are absolutely zero covering over their outside beer garden. No awnings, no shelters, not even an umbrella at the picnic table. Want a beer? Better know which one you want because they only have certain beers at certain stands. Go walk around you say? Watch your step. Some idiot designed the place to be like a gardens - without the plants. It s all uneven stone steps everywhere. People drinking, looking for a place to sit, walking around the grounds, dropping their drinking glasses (yes, they are glass), nearly falling down steps, twisting ankles... this place is a nightmare.

Visited recently was very impressed with the beer garden, this place is worth stopping by for a visit, not to mention the beer warehouse for stocking up before you leave, all the beers we sampled were good and high quality. The self guided tour was interesting also.

Loved it here. Beautiful views of the city. Didn't get a chance to walk the trails, but looked great with the fall colored leaves. The self tour is great with signs and detailed descriptions of the steps taken to brew beer. Super uber clean facility & very family friendly.

We had a great time and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the various brews. The "no-compete" idea of not having a restaurant and giving you a certificate for a free sample at the local restaurants in town we thought was a great idea. We ended up at Glarner Stube and loved it as well. Quaint town worth a little stroll through all the shops. Definitely on our "must return" list.

Gorgeous brewery with adorable old world charm. Amazing beer (hello Spotted Cow!). The entrance is long and winds along curves- please be careful and conscious of other drivers! Parking in the upper lot is limited. The short cut trail is pretty steep and slippery on wet days. (New Glarus Brewery: please take note and action! This is really a safety hazard).

Having enjoyed New Glarus beers for years, it truly was a pleasure to visit their beautiful estate in rural Wisconsin. I doubt you'll just happen across this place, it really is a destination, but it's a nice pitstop if you happen to be in the area.

Self guided tour of the brewery is fun. The tasting is a bit on the pricey side, but it comes with three samples and a free glass. You get discounted refills as well. Protip: bring a designated driver, you might need it! Have a military ID? Don't leave it at home, you get a free tasting!

Didn't get to take the hard hat tour, but I hear it is worth it, maybe next time. Oh and the gift shop is full of fun finds, especially for an out of state fan that wants to show off his allegiances back home!

Keep up the good work folks, I'll definitely be back and will continue to enjoy your beer whenever possible. Let me know when you work out a distributor in DC or Virginia!
