If you have kids, or nephews, or nieces, or you're a babysitter, or whatever...splurge on a membership because it pays for itself in only a few visits, plus gives you access to some other nice events like the Dive-Ins at night.

We were in Boston on a cold December Sunday and decided the aquarium would be a good place to get warm and spend some time.

The setup of the aquarium has you start with penguins, and who doesn't like penguins? We watched a little show also about penguins and it was very interesting. The aquariums main large circular tank spirals through the center of the building and goes from top to bottom. On the opposite wall from the tank on each floor are some different exhibits, some interactive. The staff was super friendly.

We also went outside to a small theatre and watched a show on seal training. That was actually really fun and the seals were great. Some of them were rescued and all of them liked to ham it up for the crowd and their meals or fish treats.

The cost of entrance was a bit expensive, about $75.00 for the three of us. We did get a discount for being AAA member and my daughter's university discount. We were there from about noon to 3:00 PM and fortunately there were not any large crowds. We enjoyed our visit!

Was very disappointed in our trip here. I felt the entrance fee was way to steep for what was available in the aquarium. Looking at everything it only took about an hour and a half and cost our family of 3 $100.

Only downside is the size because it gets crowded in there! Oh and we were not fans of them forcing us to take a photo upon entry (we declined but they said they had to take our photo regardless of us not wanting to participate). I don't mind if you take pictures to sell, but if someone declines a photograph they should be given that right. How crazy!

Wayyyy to packed. It made for chaos rather than fun. We had to wait in the worlds longest line outside in freezing weather with the wind whipping. The food was disgusting and thr pictures they took were never uploaded to the website. Im glad we went once just to say we did but I'll never return.

We love the NE Aquarium! Myrtle the turtle is always amazing to see, and always fun to learn about the other species in the tanks. The lack of bathrooms is a tad upsetting, but won't keep us away. Everything was clean and the staff were very friendly!! Do yourself a favor, buy tickets online ahead and you don't have to stand in line!!

This is a great aquarium!! Lots of variety, very cool displays! Watching the green sea turtle chasing after bits of lettuce at feeding time is one of the most adorable things. The aquarists (?) are super friendly, knowledgeable and very happy to answer all of your questions. The membership deal is also very good - we got the package for 1 member + 3 guests AND the named member can be either me or my partner (you just have to be at the same address). It was $159 compared to $124 for 4 adult day passes. And we will definitely be back after a super fun experience!

All the things you'd expect from an aquarium, lots of different fish shown in various tanks. Things that make it stand out are the cylinder tank in the center in three floors that you walk around in a spiral; the surprisingly affordable and tasty food from the cafe; and the IMAX theatre attached.

The aquarium was very nice in terms of the layout, but the drawbacks of it was that it was still pricey with a student discount, and it was small in size. It also seems to get very crowded with field trips depending on the day that you go. I believe we finished walking through in an hour tops. It s nice to go once to check it out, but it is not that something that I would continually visit because of the price and crowding.

One of my favorite aquariums. The big circular tank I. The middle is full of so many interesting things. You could just sit and watch for hours and never get tired. The mini exhibits on the sides of the massive tank are so cool and informational. I just love it here.

Perfect place for kids to learn about the ocean, wildlife & conservation. Feels good knowing $ spent there goes to help animals. First day using my membership - flew right past lines to get in! Plus members get in free all year! Special offers & VIP treatment on select days. Parking is the most expensive item, but members get discounts on that as well. Highly recommend it for nature & ocean lovers, plus the kids are kept in awe!

As an adult the price is hard to justify, >=$25 for about 2 hours (max) entertainment isn't really worth it. Great, beautiful aquarium with wonderful exhibits, lots of exotic sealife, but very small for what you're paying for. Unless you're getting this as part of a package/multi-museum trip, not worth the time and potential line/crowd.

I wasn't impressed with this place at all.It was ok for a day bus trip but I don't plan on going back anytime soon. There was a lot to look at but not that interesting. There were only sand sharks there and only one attraction outside. We were there on a Saturday and it was so packed it was hard to move around. They did have a nice large penguin pool set up.

Went on a Saturday after our whale watching trip. It was crazy busy. Make sure to purchase tickets a head of time. You can walk right in. The line to purchase was long. It was a lot of people inside but you could always get a view of the penguins and the big tank in the middle. The tanks on the outer edges were hard to get to. Very nice aquarium

Tickets are slightly expensive, but if you love the blue planet, it's worth a visit. And if you don't have much idea about the world you live in, and share with others, it's all the more important to pay a visit to the New England Aquarium. You'll come back rich, with knowledge and compassion for the fellow living beings.
Also, eat something outside before you enter the aquarium, because the food inside is expensive, and there isn't enough choice anyway.

Overall, this is very pricey for a surprisingly lackluster aquarium. We visited on a busy summer day, which meant standing in a twenty minute line outside before making it to the understaffed, disorganized ticket windows. Once inside, the lack of any defined crowd flow paths means that on busy days it becomes extremely congested, with people trying to walk in every direction, making movement and the viewing of exhibits difficult. The exhibits themselves are quite limited, consisting mainly of small aquariums for different species of fish. The most prominent attractions are the penguin colonies and the multilevel cylindrical tank which houses the sea turtles, among various fish. The seal and sea lion habitats are limited and not a particular draw. If you can get a discount and visit on a quiet day, it might be worth visiting, but for full price, even the most ardent sea life enthusiast is going to be disappointed.

Did the whole tour in about 1.5hrs. Impressive show of species and colors and different habitats. Amazing to see how the aquarium reproduces each habitat for each group like forest, swamps and ocean bottom dark environments.

Nice aquarium. Can get very crowded & way it is designed to funnel everyone in the same place/same direction is hard to maneuver at times.

The large tank in the middle that the facility us built around is quite the sight. Penguins are adorable!

The sea life is very I interesting. Myrtle the turtle's size is amazing. There is an octopus. There are penguins. Two different areas of touch tanks are also available. A bit pricey, but we had a library discount. It doesn't take all day. I'd say it took us about 4.5 hours to see it.
