Wonderful giant aquarium. So many great tanks to look at. Touch tanks are good unless it is too crowded. Penguins are also fun to watch. We spent nearly a full day. If you are buying tickets there it is best to go early, otherwise you will spend a long time on line.

What to say, I come to Boston almost once per year and I never miss a visit to the New England acquarium: amazing, good opportunity for young and old people to learn something more about our sea and about the creatures living there. Don t miss it . iMax movies are also part of the great entertainment

We love it here when it's not crowded. We usually see the unicorn fish, penguins and the electric eel. We come in near closing and wander for a few visits instead of trying to take it all in one day. The guides are great and we enjoyed touching sea turtles, lobsters, and sting rays on different occasions. The electronic demos are cool too.

You know, I tried hard to like this place because I loved aquariums as a child but it's just not there. The ticket prices are outrageous, they try to force you to get a picture at the entrance causing a long line to get in and there just isn't much material for what you pay for. My wife and I were in and out within an hour.

I've been to a few Aquariums but this one is probably my new favorite thanks to the Sea Turtles! The place was very informative and a great amount of animals. I can't believe it took me this long to finally experience it.

A huge aquarium with so much to see, but as other reviewers have said, it's incredibly crowded. Despite that we had a good experience & enjoyed our time here. There are some interactive exhibits that I'm sure are especially exciting for children & a theatre showing nature/wildlife films, we watched one about blue whales & it was a nice break from walking before finishing up the tour. As you leave you pass through the obligatory gift shop & of course the point where the photos taken on the way in are for sale. We bought our photo package & of course it's extremely overpriced, but it was a memorable moment for a first date weekend so we bought them anyway.

The aquarium wasn't fabulous and wasn't terrible. They had a ton of tropical fish and unusual fist, so that was pretty cool. We loved seeing things like penguins, the giant sea turtle, dragon fish, lion fish, and even an anaconda. Cool stuff! However, we were super disappointed that there are basically no sharks at all. I was like, wait, there's a shark wing, but there were no real sharks, only info on sharks. So, that sucked. Other side note, the jelly fish tank was pretty lame compared to some I've seen. The Imax theatre was fine, although we saw Galapagos and it was not good. I wish we would have picked one of the other ones, but we had to pick it when we bought our ticket. It would have been preferable if we could decide on a movie after more consideration...but that's more our own fault. One great thing about the aquarium overall, you can leave and come back in. This was great because the food choices looked suspect, so we were able to walk to a market and get some fabulous chowder bowls, and then come back and finish our visit. So, we had a good time, but there were just a few things that I would have liked to see that they didn't have.

If you're into details, be sure to plan an entire day to visit. And the first thing to do is check the schedule - there are all sorts of presentations. Be sure to see the oldest living sea turtle in captivity. Her favorite snack is brussels sprouts!

Doesn't get any better than this for up close and personal with marine life! There are so many colorful and interesting individual aquariums showing life in different ecologies along with a very generous area filled with penguins, and then the huge central tank that is 3 stories high and circular. All the marine life are so healthy and well-cared for by their keepers. There is even a petting pool with a guide who encourages children to touch the very small rays and sharks as they pass.

I will Never grow out of visiting the aquarium. Tickets are pricey, but worth it. We took the subway into Boston. Parking is expensive, so taking the T is more economical. Check out the website for best details.

It takes about an hour and a half to see everything. It's a decent thing for little ones to do. My suggestion, if you have a stroller is to take the elevator up to the top and work your way back down. The spiral ramp that runs through the middle of the space is much easier to navigate with gravity on your side.

Don't miss the water splash area directly across the street in the Greenway. It's a great way to end the visit on hot days.

Pretty amazing aquarium. The line for tickets can be absurdly long though, so I recommend purchasing them in advance or at another location that sells them. This place will get quite crowded, especially on rainy days.

they upgraded the main reef so no more big shark, go to the petting tank to see the little reef ones and stingrays, kids didnt even recognize the sharks as sharks, everything else was the same. They would not validate my parking at the garage with all their advertisements on it saying its not part of the aquarium, then get your adverts off it, almost 90$ to get in for a family of 4 then they send you out through the gift shop to hook the kids for more money. In this case you dont get what you paid for.

clean, nice, cool layout and great location.

clean, nice, cool layout and great location.
But, we lived in Birmingham before moving to Boston and we fequented the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta which houses dolphins with a full indoor live show and Beluga whales, in addition to having multiple themed exhibit halls that stem off of the main area with enormous tanks and a tunnel aquarium that feels like you're in the ocean as you walk through. The New England aquarium is cool, and definitely worth a visit, but it's overpriced, and, like most things in Massachusetts, it pales in comparison to the grand scale and modern design of attractions in southern cities like Atlanta, Nashville, Orlando, and many others.

For those reading this that have been to the Baltimore Aquarium you'll already know your way around as it must have been the same architect. The only real difference is instead of stingrays in the large central pool, Boston has penguins. Lots and lots of penguins!
